Multiple Settings Mahou Shoujo Wants! (action preferred)

to be completely transparent with everyone: I want to write this genre as an excuse to create female characters with cute/badass personas that fight and beat things up.

if you're still following - hi! I am an 18+ writer who likes anime, manga, comics, and other animated stuff! my interests don't stop there, but when I'm roleplaying, I have the most fun focusing on these dorky things.

I've always wanted to cast a wide net and advertise for a magical girl roleplay, so here I am doing that today! I will be as clear and honest with my preferences as possible to narrow it down just a little for anyone looking into this, but I am also of the opinion that planning an entire mahou shoujo story by myself in a partner search is a bit counterproductive since I like to work on that with my roleplay partner on that. so with that in mind, feel free to reach out and message me to talk more about this at any time. I'm always down to swap ideas!

I could go on about my favorite magical girl shows, how I like the dark/mature themes of madoka but always loved cardcaptor sakura for being authentic and adorable, but I rather share general things that interest me about ALL magical girl content to make this easier. if you are looking for a specific fandom plot, you'll have to reach out to me yourself to talk about that, but please keep all my other preferences in mind.

mahou shoujo content that interests me:

• like I said: action orientated , usually in a modern setting, but can do other settings too. this can involve magical girls fighting monsters or each other, but I prefer there to be actual physical conflict, training, and strength building alongside emotional drama.
• angst and emotional turmoil to many different degrees. does not always have to be extreme mental suffering, but rather having them struggle with something.
• realistic/ordinary characters grappling with powers. if it's a high-school setting, I'd love to explore some coming of age character growth.
• slice of life/comedy to a degree. I think it's easy to get a bit too fluffy with stuff like this, but sometimes it's needed.
• themes! so much can be accomplished by just picking the right theme. the more unique the better. I think there is enough "named after planets" magical girl content out there, haha.
• adult magical girls. now this is something I've had luck with in the past, but basically just subverting the genre and focusing on more adult women with powers. I think young adult struggles, ranging from 18 - 20s, can be way more serious, relatable, and compelling at times.
• other plot subversions like cute actually being evil (madoka) or magical girls being manipulated.
• heavy/mature themes, but handled tastefully please. I really don't want to write something super corny about otherwise serious subjects.

requirements:

• female main characters. male characters welcome and I certainly plan to write characters of all genders throughout the plot, but please only female for the main roles, yeah?
• if you are interested in romance, then please know I only write female pairings. feel free to have your characters any orientation you want, our plot does not need to be romance-centered.
• multi-paragraph, third person writing preferred, but if for some reason you like to write 1st person, I could probably give it a go.

and also someone pointed out to me a typo I made about romance. I accidentally said it needs to include romance when I meant to put does not need to include romance. pretty awful mistake so if anyone saw that and was confused, know it wasn't my intention.
