Speaking of MAGIC, for Rose, it was going to be magic with just hands (i.e. sans wands)but like, however you want to interpret that magic is fine, and so even if Rose does a spell with her hands, there's nothing stopping your character pulling out a rune, or scroll, or incantation or wand or potion or staff or familiar or.... hmm any other ways to cast spells? probably

EDIT: in Eragon, don't the elves sing to make magic happen?
