There exists a place where unwanted beings go to feel welcome. Where abnormal people go to experience feeling normal and where the sad come to feel happy.

You will find it tucked away in the back of a dirty alleyway, looking quite shabby and abandoned. Surrounding it is overturned garbage cans and dirty old newspapers. The air is usually damp and heavy and there is a distinct scent of vomit and cat feces in the air.

In daylight, this place looks like just another abandoned building, its windows boarded up, the paint on the walls peeling away after years of battling the elements and the doors are always locked. We've all seen buildings like this before, slowly rotting away and forgotten about.

But every night, in the cloak of darkness, the building transforms. Gone are the boarded up windows and dreary atmosphere. In the light of the moon, there is now a little cafè, looking quite out of place in the dingy ally. The air is filled with a new, sweet aroma and the doors are opened. The lights come on inside, illuminating the alleyway and signaling to anyone who cares to look that Magic Brew Cafè is now open for business

.

This is a Cafè for the supernatural. All and any species are welcome! This is a place where you can feel secure and welcome, a place for you to socialize with your fellow monsters, catch up on the latest rumors and get some delicious food of your choice while you're at it.

Please, step in from the cold! Sit down and relax! Would you like a cup of coffee?

Vincent smiled as he looked over the latest letter from the owner of the cafè. He put it down and picked up his coffee cup. The clock on the wall informed him that it was an hour left before opening time, which was good, he thought, as the new waitress would be arriving shortly. He would have to go over the basics with her, but it wasn't to much trouble. Vincent leaned back into his chair and closed his eyes. This cafè really had become his life, his home.

He had stumbled upon the establishment an odd twenty years ago, after a rather unfortunate meeting with a group of self proclaimed "monster hunters." He had barely made it out alive, and when he had managed to get away, he had collapsed in this very alleyway, bruised and beaten, ready to throw in the towel.

But then he had woken up in a warm bed, he smiled as he let the memories flow into his mind, memories of letters and coffee.

Vincent shook himself after a minute. It wouldn't do to just sit here, lost in the past! He got up from the chair, grabbed his cup and made his way downstairs. There was much to be done, menus to place, floors to be cleaned counters to be scrubbed! But first, he had to welcome the new girl.

Hatchiin walked down the allyway finding the cafe. She smiled and took a deep breath. She did everything she could to mask her anger and depression.

Hunters....all day everyday. That's what her life was. Here she could escape that. This was that small spark of hope in her life. Somewhere she can be accepted.

She opened the door with a smile on her face. She saw Vincent and went up to him. "Hello, I'm looking for the owner. Do you know where he is?"

Vincent studied the girl. Her first impression was very promising, she was bold and had a cute smile. He suppressed a chuckle, she would be popular with the regulars, he was sure.

"Well, you won't find him here, unfortunately. Nobody knows who he is, or ever has for that matter. He runs this place through me, you see, so I handle all his business. I'm the manager here and you must be the new waitress, no? Vincent's my name, nice to meet you." He held out his hand, smiling at her.

"I'm Hatchiin." She said shaking his hand. "And yes, I am the new waitress. It's nice to meet you, Vincent."

She did everything she could to be acceptable in a work area. She wasn't used to trying to make people like her.

"Well, we're very happy to have you join the family Hatchiin," Vincent said sincerely, "We've been wanting to hire a waitress for quite some time now, actually. The last one had an unfortunate accident, so we've really been understaffed, you see." He began walking towards the counter, motioning for her to follow him, continuing speaking as he walked.

"Anyway, your duties here will include delivering the food and beverages to the tables, taking orders, cleaning up the occasional mess and generally just chatting with the customers." He explained and turned to face her again, leaning against the counter top.

"The kitchen is over there, you can find a uniform in there, and we open at moonrise, until then you can make yourself comfortable and get used to the environment! Would you like a cup of something hot?"

"Oh, no thank you." Accident? That's a bit...off. I don't want to make a bad impression though. "I won't let you down." She assured him.

She looked around the cafe. This is a nice little place. She thought. She had the feeling that she might just like it here, even if it does mean she has to deal with costomers.

Vincent nodded and gave her a reassuring grin. "Well, i'm going to make myself another cup of coffee, I have a feeling i'll need it." He walked over to the other side of the counter and began fiddling with the coffee machine. While he worked he decided to ask a few questions to get to know the newbie better. "So, Hatchiin, what made you apply for this job?" He asked as he reached over to the shelf with the 'special' coffee ingredients. He grabbed the jar marked Soul residue, standing in the middle off blood powder and frog slime. "Oh, and please feel free to ask any questions you might have yourself."

"Truth be told I needed somewhere to go. Humans aren't very accepting of people that aren't human. I saw a job opening here and thought it'd be a good place to turn to, somewhere I'd be accepted." She didn't really have any questions except for what the accident was with the last employee, but she decided to let it go.

"I understand," He nodded, blending the substance from the jar into the coffee ground, "I've had a few run ins with less than reputable humans myself over the years. I assume you've heard of the so called monster hunters?" He asked, putting away the jar, turning on the coffee maker and turned to face her, watching her face for a reaction.

She frowned and nodded. "Yes, I have." The subject made her slightly uncomfortable but she needed this job, so she went along with it. "What about them?"

She has more then heard of them, judging from that reaction, Vincent thought, keeping his face straight, he said out loud, "I thought so. They've been growing in numbers lately, or so I've heard. It's their fault Clarice, your predecessor, isn't here right now." He told her seriously. She needed to know, he decided. It wouldn't be right of him to keep information like this from his employees, no matter how new they were. "The streets aren't safe anymore, as i'm sure you've noticed,"

Seeing the look on her face he smiled softly and put a hand on her shoulder. "My point was that in here, you're safe. The hunters don't know off this place, and even if they did, they wouldn't be able to get in. You have nothing to worry about."

Hearing the familiar peep from the coffee maker, he grabbed a cup, and turned to fill it. "You should probably get in your uniform, it's getting close to opening time!" He said cheerfully, pouring the hot coffee.

She nodded and smiled. She walked into the kitchen grabbing the uniform. She changed in one of the bathroom stalls and put her other cloths in her purse after she folded them as many times as possible.

She walked out seeing it was almost time to open. "Thank you. For giving me a shot at this." She thanked Vincent before starting the day.

(Decided to go with lunch, halfway though.)

Vincent, bit into his apple, sinking into a chair in the kitchen by the fire. The first customer had arrived not even five minutes after moonrise, a big, burly witch with some kind of thing for him. He shook his head, snickering. She was a regular and smelled like swamps. After her, the customers had been streaming in like usual, all with smiles on their faces and new rumors to share. He had chatted with most of them, mixing cup after cup of coffee and tea and generally just doing his job, but he had kept an eye on the new waitress.

Hatchiin had been doing surprisingly well, he thought, as he took another bite of the red fruit, but after four hours or so he decided she might need a break. It was her first day after all, so after a stern look at the patrons, a look that clearly said, 'If you dare try anything while i'm gone...' he had called her over and told her to find herself something to eat.

After she had been called over she gave an orc his order and went to Vincent. "Yes, Sir?" She asked calmly. She looked back to see if she mixed anything up, fortunately she didn't, so she looked back at Vincent.

"Oh, please, just call me Vincent!" Vincent said with a laugh, "The only 'Sir' around here is that vampire at table four, he's an old veteran from the first Vampire wars, did you know? Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that you can take a break, find something to eat. I'm sure the kitchen has anything you could want. You're doing a fantastic job!"

Seera walked through the streets. She quickly reached her destination, a dark and dirty little alleyway. She strode down the pavement, and through the doors. Her hair moved with her as she walked behind the counter, and into the kitchen, to grab her apron. She walked back out again, and pulling her hair net from her pocket, waved to Vincent. "Hello! How's business today?" She pulled her hair into the net, and seeing the girl walk around, talking to the patrons and serving them, she turned to Vincent again. "And who's this?"

"Seera! Good to see you." Vincent said, giving her one of his signature dimple-smiles. "Business is as usual, if a bit rushy!" He leaned against the counter, taking another bite of his apple and motioned for Hatchiin to come over again. "This is Hatchiin Deo, the new waitress. Didn't I tell you about her?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

Seera shook her head, and tied her apron behind her back. "Nope. I knew we would be getting a new one soon, but not today." She slipped a watch bracelet off her wrist, and dropped it on the counter in the kitchen. "Anyway, sorry I'm late, I ran into a group of pesky hunters, looking for something to kill. Pity, I didn't want it to end like it did."

Vincent poured a cup of herb tea with frogspawn and handed it to the burly witch, getting a flirtatious wink in return. He waved his fingers at her grinning. He turned back to his cook, leaning over the counter, putting his elbows on the hard wooden surface and placed his cheeks in his hands. "Details, honey, details!" He begged, giving her big, red puppydog eyes. Seera's encounters with hunters were always entertaining to listen to.

Seera sighed. "Fine...if you must know, it wasn't as fun as usual, but, here goes." She pulled up a chair to the counter, and sat down. "So, I was walking down the street, minding my own business, when suddenly, as you might imagine, a group of hunters tried to sneak up on me, but, I could tell they were coming. They were obviously amateurs. So they came up behind me with their clubs and various weapons, so I punched one in the face, and then ripped out his guts, and the rest ran away. See, nothing fun." (Sorry I was gone so long, I had to do something)

Vincent looked at her, frowning. "It may not have been the most exiting story, but it does tell us one thing, they're getting bolder. What concerns me the most though is that the would sneak up on you like that and that you could take them down so easily, do you think the hunters have started requiting?" He asked, a look of worry coming over his face.

(it's fine. :) )

Seera furrowed her brow, thinking. "Well, maybe, but I think that the hunters are just getting younger and younger. These kids only seemed to be like 14 or so and they probably made their own weapons." She looked up, and seeing all the customers she hopped up from the chair, and slid it back to its original position. "Anyway, whatever is happening, I've got to get working. She hurried into the kitchen, and began setting it up.

A shadow clone of Hatchiin appeared before it slowly faded into herself. She noticed a cook in the kitchen and gave her a warm smile before handing her an order and returning back to the cafe to take some orders of other costomers that just came in. This wasn't her first job as a waitress. She used to work in human restaurants before. She'd pretend to be human for as long as she could before they found out she wasn't human.

Seera took the order. "Good luck, deary." She started to prepare the food. She smiled while she was doing this, as this was one of her favorite meals to prepare.
