Lunar Akuma and Tainted Moonsilver Tattoos

Joy in Ashes

Chainbreaker
...question. I don't know if this has been covered somewhere else, but what is the canon on casteless lunars and tainted moonsilver tattoos? Savoring the idea of retrofitting some Unblooded pups for shits and giggles. I know the Infernal Book says Infeernal artificers can lay tainted tattoos on anybody that will stand still long enough for one and Yozis can etch and sketch a casted lunar akuma as they wish. What I want to know is if infernal articers could possibly, perhaps or just maybe set a different caste on a casteless lunar? ...hypothetically speaking of course. :D

So you are wondering if casteless could become some kind of caste via becoming Akuma? Nope it would still be casteless but you could get some sweet Malfean charms to get more mutations and become a super chimeric monster.

That's the idea I am toying with. The Lunar book talks about custom knacks for casteless Lunars and then I saw the optional Shattered Silver Cage charm, which would break your caste as is, rendering you casteless once more. Now that Lunar could theoretically receive the tattoos once again and have a different caste than the one before.

I posit that the castes are artificial or at least constructs of the elders (not part of the original exaltation), so it follows that they could be redesigned and retooled...theoretically speaking.

I am not pushing for a game breaking Lunar Akuma superbeasto but I think that the opportunity for some good flavor is there. I am specifically thinking of a Lunar character, casteless but seduced by Adorjan and repurposed as her agent in creation. I am thinking The Silent Wind's speed/mobility charm set and her Splintered Gale Shintai (breeding an army of mini mes and fractured selfs), her intimacy/derangement set then rounding the Akuma off with the Stamina poison/sickness charm tree and the Charisma/Wits social-fu tree. I basically want the character to mimic Adorjan's splintered personality and mania, spreading madness and infection in her wake.

Oooohh!!! Maybe my Lunar could make new babies with Adorjan, I hope I get boys this time. :P I'd name the first Sirocco or Malaria.

The problem with being Akuma, of course, is the total loss of your free will. It doesn't seem like a very satisfying way to play a character.

That said, intriguing idea. Could lead to some fun Charm combos.

I'll dig up the link, but it sounds to me like you might be interested in the Terrifying Argent Witches rewrite for Lunars, if you have not encountered it yet.

True Akumas are one trick ponies when it comes to their Urges, but you can always work with the storyteller to get one broad enough in scope to cover several storylines. For my Lunar Akuma I was hoping that Adorjan might instill in him/her the urge to bestow upon creation the freedom that Adorjan has come to find in her enslavement. I interpret this wide ranging urge as: "Set free the peoples of creation, break the chains that bind their minds and hearts, set them loose and to wandering as the Silent Wind. Love them." Though I think that an Adorjani urge to "love" creation would be as cruel an urge as you could get.

So in my interpretation, this Akuma fulfills his/her patron's will for the reclamation by freeing creation from its sanity and from the social contracts that bind it together. Spreading madness and disease. The Akuma will use diaspora and suffering to shatter creation into a thousand thousand pieces blowing in the red hot winds of Adorjan, then creation will be free.

I think I could play my character's urge for a long, long time.
