The Winged One
I don't want to die . . . Oh please, let this be quick- Isis then heard the men gasp and she heard a thump, as Mace hit the ground. What the? Then the men were the next few people to hit the ground. Isis realized after a minute of silence that they were all dead. But who could have killed them? Two minutes passed and she heard him. The sweet sound of his firm voice. She knew that she had to be dead. There was no way he could have found her. But he did. She didn't have any strength to do anything so obeying him wasn't a problem. She knew it was cold, but at the moment the pain in her side was more present than the bumps rising on her skin. Her vision began to darken and felt she extremely sleepy. Leon then proceeded to lift her and she winced, holding in the pain. She wasn't sure if she could be her charming sarcastic self right now. Then she heard Leon's voice. What did happen. She wondered to herself. As she opened her mouth her voice was just a whisper.
"Mace . . . She. . . I, agh, she killed my mom at the hospital, then those two police men and the other two in the suits came into the room. I know little self defense but I did what I could. Someone then shot me right as I got out. Guess it'll be one heck of a battle scar. I have no idea who killed them, but if it weren't for them I'd have a bullet in my head." She smiled. It was a tiny smile. A smile that said she was scared but she was happy to see him. "Mace said her name was really Maya Grebenshchikov, the daughter of the something . . ." Her breathing became shallow. "I don't know why but my family . . . Ever since I was little my family, well my father, always dealt with big shots and tough mobsters. We were wealthy, until someone killed my father. Now my mother's dead and I don't even know what she was trying to tell me. She said watch out for D something and then Mace . . . shot her." Isis was beginning to fall asleep again. She felt Leon's warmth as he held her. She reached up to stroke his face again. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to involve you. I'm glad you're not hurt. I'm also happy that I get to see your face again . . . I wish I" Isis began to lose the fight of staying awake her breathing lessened and her arm fell lightly onto her torso. "Leon I wish . . ." She heard the sirens in the distance. She knew she couldn't go to the hospital. She didn't want to go back, she wanted to be home. There she could cauterize her would and then sew it up herself and take pain pills and try to recuperate away from the world. But she didn't have any strength at all and now she was losing feeling in her body from the cold snow.
