Watching as the girls took their turns, Minseok could feel the excitement continue to grow in his chest. It was the same feeling he had when he had been dropped off at the airport in preparation for his big American journey. It was a warm sensation that started from his stomach and rose to his chest before fluttering back down again. He could only describe it as… well… butterflies. It was a mixed feeling of excitement, joy and nerves that were swishing around inside his body and escaped past his lips as his mouth spread into a large grin that was making his cheeks hurt. He couldn’t remember the last time he had smiled so much.
Hearing Gussie’s instructions about moving the cups to the side, Minseok nodded and was about to do so – before Isaac stopped him. “You have to drink what’s in the cup because they got the ball in it” he informed him before taking one of the cups and quickly drinking its contents with ease. Oh… Oh yeah. He had forgotten about that. He had been so caught up in the whole ‘how to throw the ball into the cup’ thing that he actually completely forgot the purpose of throwing it in – so the others would have to drink it.
Bringing up the cup to his nose, he gave it a quick sniff. Okay, yeah, that smelt like alcohol. Okay… so… this was going to be his first sip of alcohol… Ever… Okay. He didn’t need to make it into some huge thing. He didn’t need to declare to everyone that this was his first time drinking anything that you had to be of age to drink. It wasn’t a big deal – right? Right. Jumping over that mental barrier, he brought the cup to his lips and did as Isaac had done – skulled the whole cup.
Oh damn. Why did he do that?
The taste of the beer caught him off guard, causing him to release his physical reaction of a cough while mid-drinking. As some of the beer spilled from his mouth and cup after the cough, Minseok removed the cup from his lips before covering his mouth with his hand to try and control the cough. Oh man, the beer was going up into his nose and everything. Isaac was obviously amused by it as he patted him on the back and asked if he was okay – thank the Lord the other boy was just assuming Minseok had coughed mid-drinking and not that he was caught off guard by the whole taste.
Once he composed himself once more, Minseok nodded to Isaac before lifting up the cup to his lips once again and attempting to drink the remainder of the drink. Now that he was finally used to the taste, it wasn’t going down as harshly as before. He placed the cup aside, before taking a moment to watch Isaac’s attempt to getting the ball into the girl’s cups. And… he failed. Oh, man. Right. It was his turn now.
Taking hold of the ball, Minseok positioned himself in the centre of the table, looking towards the other side of the table where the cups stood. Even though Gussie told him not to, he couldn’t help but start to calculate in his brain the physics behind it all. This time, though, it only took a couple of seconds for him to finish the equation in his head. And once that equation was sorted, he threw the ball and it landed straight into a cup right in front of Gussie.
