Realistic or Modern Love in the Time of Conflict

I have a not-so-quiet longing [yearning] to write a story set against the backdrop of either of the World Wars; an enemies-to-lovers type scenario between two individuals from opposing sides. Perhaps a doctor and a prisoner afforded the opportunity to work as a nurse (think “nuance”, not “cliché”)?

I’m open to suggestions and keen (read “eager”) to world-build.
