Realistic or Modern Lost to the Ages - Interested?

Snek

Boop the snoot, you get the shoot
I'm thinking of a casual roleplay, set in the modern real world but full of fantasy elements. A summary of the story:

~

There once existed an ancient empire, far ahead of its time with untold technological wonders and great knowledge. Unfortunately, the empire had many enemies who sought to usurp it and claim its secrets for themselves. After a long and bloody war, the empire's capital was besieged from all sides and the empire fell. Many of the empire's greatest minds and most talented individuals escaped and went into hiding, and several of the imperial relics and treasures fell dormant. Over the ages, the survivors blended into western society, never forgetting their heritage but keeping it secret to protect themselves and the relics of their old society that they guarded, awaiting the day when their empire would return and rise to its former glory. On new year's eve of 2016, that day finally arrives. The treasures reawaken, and the young adults that guard them find themselves blessed with incredible power. They set off to find each other and unite to rebuild their empire, but little do they know, their old enemies are also still alive, and they will do anything to get their hands on the youngsters and claim their power...

~

So the idea is that everyone plays a survivor of the old empire, for which I haven't yet decided upon a name. As a part of their culture, young adults are given a relic of the empire to guard as a rite of passage into adulthood. Once the relics awaken, the power of the empire's ancient deities fills the characters, and they each develop a different abilities as long as they remain in contact with the objects. They will have to cross the globe to find each other, led by their relics, their deities, and their connection to their heritage as they avoid conscripts and enemies of their culture.

What do you guys think? Questions? Suggestions? Insults? Thanks for reading! Sorry if it's long, I tend to ramble. Make sure to tag me to make certain that I see your responses, and thanks again for ay least being civil enough to read it through. Cheerio~

INFO ABOUT THE RELICS

Each artifact is linked to a specific god. The artifacts will grow stronger as the rp progresses and the characters learn how to use them, but at least to start, powers are generally narrow in terms of usage, and don't leave much room for user creativity. For example, an artifact could be a gauntlet of the Goddess of Justice that conjures a sword of flame, but that's it. The gauntlet couldn't allow the user to manipulate flame in general.

Think of each artifact as being "programmed" with one "spell", rather than allowing access to a wide range of multiple "spells" (at least not right away).
