Fantasy Lords of the Caribbean Seas

Dapper Bunny

The Classiest of Lagomorph
Welcome

to the alternate world of the Caribbean sea and the rest of the world too. In this world you can be just about anyone and.. Everything? But only just about anything. The time setting is just the start of the 1670 century.

In this world you can do what you want.. Everyone has a personal life goal. Do you seek to explore ancient and forgotten civilisations or do you want to become the king or queen of pirates? And lead an armanda against the british West Indians isles? Or maybe you have a grudge against the dutch there? Or do you just seek to find a land and start a new life as a governer, ruling over your citizens and controlling the trade that passes your little rule? While everyone has their goal.. A old ragged captain stumbled into the same tavern, brothel or even in your own house. There he told you about the crown of the Caribbean, a jewel which is said to make the wearer lord of the caribbean sea. Whatever you did to the old captain he left you with a single silver coin with the logo of a burning skull. Is this a new start for you? Or do you wish to throw it away and try and turn others away from a madman's tale?

The choice is yours, whether you become a captain of a ship or join one, and maybe take it over from the old cap'n? Your life is yours.. But.. Whatever happens in the caribbean can affect the rest of the isles.. And the sea is becoming restless.. Tales of creatures twice the size of galleons dragging ships to the bottom of the sea, other stories tell about ships clad in dark plates and with skeleton crews.. Are these but myths? Or is there a hint of truth behind these rumours?

Whatever you do.. The caribbean will always change, it's all up to yourself whether you'll go out and make a name or sit back and control from the shadows.

The major factions call to arms.. They are bigger and allow you to repair and restock in safety of ports. Be part of fleets.. But the life is a life of a working man.. Your duty is to the king or queen of your nation and the governor of your port. Your choice can cause imbalance.. But whose to say that not even the factions hold some secrets?

Factions.. Pretty much.

Some extra details and mechanics:

Very well. You decided to join or commandeer a ship and it's crew. Now here comes some technical things.. Which should be quite easy to find on the internet. But I'll throw some links and/or pictures in when needed.

Ships are different. From a mighty but slow war galleon to a nimble but small sloop. All the ships are a bit different, and all the ship "Types/classes" can be different to an extent from each other.

98aesk.jpg

As you can see this is what we shall call the default class for atleast these ships, there are many more of course.. And perhaps some ancient ones that can be rebuilt? But from here on we can easily take the schematics from this.

Cannons:

Should explain itself. The more cannons a ship has the heavier it is, but also more powerful. I think that should sum up the cannons. Of course, you have many different munitions. Such as grapeshot, chainshot, spidershot etc.

All of the munitions! Of course.. Not all of these go in ye' standard cannon, although it's worth a try, what's the worst that can happen, an explosion?

Men or better know as crewmembers:

These possibly have the biggest impact on your ship. All things considered each and every man or woman on your ship has a brain on their own. Not a lot are going to risk their lives if you were trying to ram a sea monster or go toe to toe with a ship twice the size of yours. These people are used for just about anything on your ship though, from the daily maintance, to fighting and boarding and even to accompany you on your adventures on the many unexplored isles of the Caribbean.

But these men and woman are not free, well not the majority.. They'll need pay and food, and shoretime if prolonged time on the sea. A little more about what happens when you lose crewmembers. (A side note: Players on other players ships also counts as a crew, and they have every right to do as they please.. Of course.. So does the captain.)

Speed:

This is nautical miles as we know it. Damage to the ship, the weight and the flags all determine how fast your ship is. Pretty simple as that. Here are two converters. One manual and one automatic. Use at own free will.

Manual

Bit more automatic and with quite a few other converters.

As said.. Simple as that.

Agility:

Now this should also explain itself. How good your ship is at turning and other tricks. This is mainly affected by the ship itself. The more damaged major parts of the ship the less agility. Now agility goes not with numbers. So instead we got the four defaults and two extra for some variety. For the heaviest ships with a personal fleet of cannons. = Worst. and for that scuttle which is the primitive speedboat = Best. These two extra are if you are going to create a ship yourself of course.

Capacity:

This.. Well like the rest should explain itself; How much your ship can carry, the bigger the ship the bigger the capacity.

Now because we do not need hours on end to think how much rations and munition weight, we'll remove those.. While still keeping it realistic. No one got unlimited ammunition or rations. Anyway, the capacity is going to affect trade goods and prisoners, (Of course, if people want too we can add munition and that.)

"But? How do we defeat other ships in combat?" Well peep's.

Win/defeat.

I've thought about this for a while and concluded. Each catagory is in it's own way health, reaching zero is different for all of them (Well except speed, since one might just be standing still.) One way of defeat is of course losing cannons.. Once all your cannons are gone (This' is quite hard to remove of course.) You're down but not out, all according to speed you might still escape. So the other ship/player still needs to damage your speed. The easiest is to use chainshots at close range. Reducing your speed to half of it's value would consider you dead weight and you've lost the battle. Capacity have no effect on these really. A ship could be battle-worthy even if a hole is punched through it's cargobay. Losing all your speed and/agility is also a defeat.. You won't be able to move and your ship can't turn.

(Side note: Even though a ship may have a bad agility, doens't mean it's agility is easy to remove and loss of all cannons doens't mean defeat. You could always try and board the other ship.)

Now men.. That is quite different. Losing all your crewmembers.. Means defeat too. Although the players have in a way a much harder way to die in a ship battle.. (For a special reason.. ^^) Anyway losing your men is the worst effect that can happen. Losing 1/4 of your men isn't going to affect you badly. In fact it means less rations used. Altough reaching 2/4 (1/2, 50% half of 'em.) Is bad. When this happens your speed, fighting abilities and agility is reduced, since you have fewer men to work on the ship. Losing 3/4 of your mean is critical impact. Your fighting capabilities are at near minimum, your speed and agility is on a scale. You cannot have both of them active anymore. So it's either foward, backwards or stop to turn.

Of course this is against ships. Sea monsters are quite different and varies from each other too! But the easiest thing to do is shoot until it stops moving, or sail the fudge away. (Of course.. It might be faster, but most monsters don't stray far from their home.)

(I know this is a bit much. But feel free to ask me anything. There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.)

Everyone starts in the Caribbean sea. Although the whole world is valid for traveling too. But beware.. The further from land and the Caribbean you go, the closer comes the laughter of the insane.

1) Standard rules, no Mary or gary sues or bunnying. Don't kill without having a confirmation from the person etc. All of the rules we are familiar with.

2) Readable grammar. Nobody is perfect. Look at me, I am danish and I am just trying my best here.

3) The cake is a lie. No really pie is much better.

4) Preferred a paragraph, I understand writers block completetly. And I will give thanks to Mitheral for this idea of his: Conversation can be a bit awkward so do it in a private conversation and copy it all together and one of you post it. It's a clever idea and can certainly make talking less awkward when you need to write more than a single line.

5) There is only a limited unselectability in characters. You cannot be a giant sea monsters. But you can be a guardian of an ancient civilisation or a minor sea creature.. Of course if too many players are that.. I am going to cut it off.. This is more about the people seeking their goals in the Caribbean, not about the little mermaid.

6) If you read this far. Please put in your character sheet what I thought was a lie.

A new day dawns:

An old and raspy voice speaks up admist the tavern-goers. We are located in the 19ths "Listen now.. I have a story to tell you.. You see.. I lived in the golden age of Piracy!" People booed.. The age of piracy started in the 1650th and ended around 1830ths.. How could this man be alive then?.. But his voice.. It continued, and all hushed to listen. "I used to a great man.. A great leader.. Now.. Let me tell you the story.. Of death.. Dread and the Caribbean jewel. It all started in 1700.. A new day dawned."

Ships sail around the Caribbean sea at their own paces, from merchants to the navy ships and at times a skulking pirate ship.

All is quite for now, the caribbean sea moves peacefully and the cities are bustling with trade. But not all cities are home to the navy or the fine people. Such places have names..
Pirate Havens Where the free folks lived, but many other ports were open as they stayed neutral in the ever-changing war against piracy. Mighty ships sails to and from the ports.. Legends spark among men and women, monsters of the deep and lost civilisations both guarding ancient treasures. So listen well.. For this sea changes every moment.. And every day is a new story.

(RP Master's note: Considering I'll be using quite a lot of characters at once, this is how most of my posts are going to be, even though I might not use all the characters in one post.)

(RP Master's note: Alternate timeline is where port royal didn't have the earthquake of 1692, so it still stands as the Americas busiest port city. For both privateers, pirates and the few english navy folks stationed there. Picture is for immersion.)

By the pirate haven Port Royal, the Black Crown was rocking from side to side in the still water. A loud commanding voice could be heard for miles away.

"Alright! Maggots, fleas and scoundrels. Shore leave last day.. I want you all rested and ready.. Find some more sailors cheaply and line 'em up. We also need supplies.. Find the cheapest merchant and cheat him for some cabin bread for the long run and whatever there is in this piss of a port.." Samuel trudged down to the main deck of the ship. "If any of you come back piss poor drunk, I'll personally see you shot, with ice cold water from the sea." Killeye scanned the deck and looked towards the city, as his men moved from the ship to the town. "You two." He pointed at two men. "Get that barrel by the pier and set it up." Samuel himself moved over pushed a small crate over, making the barrel a makeshift desk. "You all have until the sun is above us. Anyone coming late, will be missed." Samuel laughed heartily by his last words. "If any of you need anything other than coins, I'll be here." He said slowly afterwards with a more serious tone. Like always, Samuel 'Killeye' Jacques mood was unpredictable.. Although he seemed happier than usual, to onlookers.. He certainly was interested in a single coin he had acquired.

Kandell's ship the Iron Fist was on it's maiden voyage. It's duty was to guard a rich trading route between the english isles. The Iron Fist was a glorious sight to behold, one of the largest ship of the line the british navy had made. The crew onboard was proud to serve at the finest ship in the Caribbean. Kandell himself was standing on the quarterdeck with his spyglass. Silently he observed the ships passing.. His eyes darting from the ships to their flags. The crew worked and rested. Soon they had to make a pass between the different ports under british control.. Well atleast the ports that waved a british flag.

Now.. Many more ships hidden around the Caribbean were mustering.. And the people were gathering.. Rumors spreads fast. Both of a legendary crown which is said to make all of those in the Caribbean kneel. To the pirate fleets restlessness.. The sun moved slowly, for the day had just begun.

Emory trudged ashore, the hustle and bustle of the docks unfamiliar after so long at sea. The ground beneath her seemed to move in waves, she'd become so used to the gentle rocking of the Black Crown as she sailed across the ocean. She stumbled, bumping into a woman. "Fresh off the sea, love?" she asks, wrapping herself around her. "Need a warm bed for the night? It'll only cost you two shillings." Emory pushes her away, none too gently. "No thank you.." She keeps walking, ducking into an alley, down the alley and into a dimly lit tavern she knew from past visits to Port Royal. She took a seat in the corner, with a mug of watery beer and kept an eye out for potential recruits.

Margret sat on the edge of the deck, one leg on the deck and the other dangling off the side. Her hair was up in a knot, due to the high wind that day. She breathed in deep. It smelled like burning wood and canvas, her favorite. She looked to the aft, soaking in the image of a merchant vessel, sinking into the deep, only the burning masts still above water. Other than the descending ship they were all alone, in the middle of the Caribbean. The ship wasn't much of a prize, and Margret's crew and her had already divided the loot amonst themselves. The captain of the merchant vessel had in his possession a rapier. A very fine rapier, with an jewel engraved handle. Most likely a gift from a relative. She would be caught up in the pride of her find but she was too busy thinking about something else she'd come across. Out of her oversized coat she pulled a coin with a most peculiar flaming skull. She'd had it in her possession for a while, but was unsure what to do with it. Or what it was for that matter. Just then she saw Rezek Kellington. An odd member of the crew. She was quite unsure what a man like Rezek was doing on a ship like The Whore. "KELLINGTON." She called to him from across the deck. "Come over here please."

When Emory saw a likely prospect she would leave her table, take a seat next to them and buy them a drink. The preferred mark were young men between fifteen and twenty five, poor men looking for adventure. And Emory gave them just a taste, telling wildly embellished tales of her days as a pirate. She promised them adventure, knowing full well they would most likely end up cannon fodder. When she had a good group gathered around her- ten or fifteen, most looking more than a little drunk- she led the way out of the tavern and to the docks to where the captain had set up a desk. She turned back to count them. "Twelve to sign on, Captain."

Rezek stood and watched the smoke slowly rise from the vessel they had recently sunk.

Rezek was content with the glory of the battle only, Suddenly snapping out of his thoughts he looked to the side as his captain yelled his name. How long had Rezek served the Whore? He thought about it again, certainly longer than usual.

Rezek nonchalantly went over to her. "You called me captain?" Rezek said calmly.

Certainly most people would look twice to see a woman commandeer a ship and it's crew.

Although it was Rezek's first time to have a female leader himself too, it didn't do much against him.

Margret was friendly enough to her crew, yet still holding a certain respect from them she also seemed alright with navigating the sea.

"I am as always, at your service." Rezek said, his eyes darting to the merchant vessel and their surroundings.

Samuel calmly studied the silver coin with the burning skull, at times.. It seemed as if the fires moved. Killeye batted his eye. "Must've be the sun's reflections.." Samuel looked up as Freeman walked down the pier, twelve people following. "Ah.. Good.. Thank you Emory." Samuel said in his usual rasp tone. "Line up!" He said to the men, with a little trouble from a few of those who had one too many mugs of rum. Samuel started the standard routine. Name, age, experience, former occupation if any, the two pirate joining rules "Swing on, swing all" and "No prey, no pay." And finally he would question them all the same thing: "What is you look on slavery?" Samuel said, he had already gotten half of the recruits signed in and placed on the ship. "Slaves? They are an item of course.. Nowhe-" In one motion had Samuel pulled one of his flintlock pistols and shot the sailor through the head. "Wrong answer. Next." It was quite true, Samuel was one of the pirate captains that disliked slavery, mainly because he served as a privateer with a captain who used slaves although not much one could do about it, Samuel made sure each and every member agreed that slavery was not a proper way for piracy. Kidnapping was one thing slavery another. Samuel sighed and placed the empty pistol back in his sash. The rest had already turned quiet and some stammering in answering Killeye's questions. But in a while he had signed ten new members to the crew. One dead another ran like Davy Jones were chasing him. "All in all seems like a good bunch.." Samuel looked towards the sun. "..Yo-Ho... We row beneath the black flag." He turned and moved up to the ship's deck.

Maret held the coin up to Rezek. "What do you know about this?" She asked. (Margret has a slight scotish accent.) She figured Kellington had a lot of experience with lore and old tales. She'd heard that Kellington had been on numerous other ships. She wondered how long it might be till he left her. Margret decided right then that she would've done a lot to ensure his loyalty. He was able-bodied, especially in a fight. And his knowledge on lore was always a welcome gift.

Emilia Drake wasn't one for getting her hands dirty. She preferred to do things stealthily and quietly, fooling people into thinking they had perhaps just dropped their purse of shillings or misplaced their beloved dagger. So, Emilia wasn't very pleased when the man she had been pickpocketing suddenly spun around, finished with his conversation, and caught Emilia red handed. She grinned meekly as she slowly tucked her recent steal into her boot.

"'ello there. Fantastic weather we're having, is it not?" She said brightly. The man growled an lunged at her. With a yelp, Emilia took off like a shot with the man at her heels. Emilia laughed and weaved her way through the bustling crowd with ease. She lost him within seconds in the crowd and made her way aboard the Black Crown, nodding to Emory as she did so. The Captain was talking with twelve or so men, each looking more than a little drunk. And then it came down to the question. Slavery. Emilia never truly understood why the captain asked this, though she shared similar views of slavery being wrong. One man answered, and thus one man was dead. Another ran, right past Emilia, and she grinned. Once the interrogation was over, Emilia approached the captain as he began to walk away.

"Captain, this port is riddled with unruly boys," Emilia reported with a frown. A frown which quickly turned into a grin. "Unruly, and oblivious. Is there anything else you need, Cap'n?"

Samuel turned to Emilia Drake. "Unruly, oblivious and under the british's flag. Get ready, we're sailing soon." He said as he pulled the empty flintlock pistol out and started reloading it. "Port Royal never changes.. Not as long as they keep Charles ready." Killeye glanced towards the fort on the hill. "Rumors do say that the redcoats have gotten a new toy.. Well either we find it and take it for ourselves.. Or we'll pass some merchants, the Spaniards usually carry goods with them." samuel tromped up to the quarterdeck. "Alright.. Shore leaves over, time to get the scrubs." Samuel placed two fingers in his mouth and whistled loudly, shortly followed by a gunshot into the air. It wasn't long before members of the Black Crowns crew appeared, few at first, but that changed quickly, some of the experienced crew members jogged quickly back to the ship. "Alright.. All aboard.. Get the sails ready, time to reap the sea." Samuel moved over to the railing and raised his arms to the sky. "Alright lads. GET HER MOVING!" Samuel grinned. Sailors loved the sea, but most usually long for land after weeks or months.. Not Samuel his home was the Black Crown his heart the sea. He watched as the men rigged the sails He slowly reached for the wheel. "A wayward bunch of scoundrels. Assassins, thieves and slaves. The rich and blue bloods fear us when we hunt upon the waves." He muttered with a smile.

Rezek studied the coin in Margrets hand. "Well.. I can't say who made it.. Nor how much it's worth.. From what I can tell it must be a Touch piece. Better known as a lucky and, or cursed coin... Although as far as it seems we're not cursed.." Rezek nodded approvingly of his own answer. "Where yer' find it, if I may ask captain?" Rezek moved a hand to his bandana and picked a smiliar coin from it. "All in all these coins are specially made. They do not resemble the doubloons or reales that the spaniards use.. Although it carries the same size as a piece of eight.. So a spaniard must've made it." Rezek put his coin back in his bandana and shrugged slowly. "All in all it's guesswork I am doing here Captain. The sea is quite big and with many mysteries and stories.. Cursed coins.. Treasure fleets sunk by storm and mighty sea creatures.. I can say Captain. That I am sure enough there is more than the two we have, and that these must be worth a fortune somewhere.. Or perhaps a map? I've heard stories of a dutch pirate captain who made a map with coins.." Rezek nodded again to his own answer. Hopefully that was a good enough explanation.

The Iron Fist's sails were rigged and the behemoth of a ship moved slowly it floated in the endless sea. James Way Kandell studied the smoke in the air.

"
Master Rogers. Do you believe pirates are scuttling merchant ships over there?" A older man in formal uniform studied the smoke and shook his head lightly. "Perhaps sire, but this is the Iron's maiden voyage. We shouldn't drag her into unnecessary battles. Surely the rats will come to the cheese.. Especially since we are sailing with sugar, tobacco and gold. Certainly goods that every pirate would want, sire." Kandell studied the smoke before turning his attention to the three fluyt's that had only half sails, knowingly that the ships would be too fast at full sails for the Iron Fist. "Very well Rogers.. Mister Sallin, get the men ready. Time to sail.." "Aye-Aye Master Way."

Marget listened intently. The pieces of eight... the old man did say something about the pirate king, maybe there was a connection. "There was an old man, i was getting a drink and he appeared tellin me about a jewel, a jewel that could make me into the pirate king." Marget said, turning the coin over in her had. Margret didn't think she would make a good pirate king. No one would accept a woman as king, or queen, she supposed. She snapped out of her daydreaming and chuckled. "He didn't tell me where to find it though."

((Is he reffering to the Whore?))

At the captain's shout Emory lept into movement, racing on board to begin the long process of setting out to sea. Watching sailors who have been working together for months was always something to see. Each crew member had a place, each one had a job to do. They worked together seamlessly, some were below securing goods, some were on deck raising the sail. Emory was one of the few small and quick enough to climb up into the rigging. She did this now,, keeping a careful hand on the ropes so as not to fall. As the ship started to drift away from the port Emory couldn't help but think It really is beautiful from up here.

Rezek Kellington listened as the Captain spoke. "Well.. If you ask me, Cap'n. You being queen of Caribbean wouldn't be so bad. You share equally between the crew.. You're kind and not the captain who whips their crew, eh so to say." He trailed off for a short while, thinking about something but shortly afterwards snapped Rezek out of his thoughts. "Hmh.. And well You're doing something many thought impossible, you're leading your own crew and being a woman.. Something a lot would say was black magic, and well I've been here long enough to say I am not under any spells." Kellington smiled slyly. "But I passed by an old man myself, he bumped into me and a coin fell out. Strange.. Isn't it? It was as if he did it on purpose."

Samuel watched the Black Crown go, indeed a sight to behold. With wind behind the sails and the sea surrounding them. The black Crown's crew cheerily sung sea shanties. Although.. There was a problem.. They had gotten good wind and gotten quite some miles away from the port, but not even when using a spyglass showed any nearby ships. "Huh.. Are the spaniards sleeping or what?" Samuel scanned the waters again. With a half-defeated sigh, took Samuel a map up from his sash. Killeye studied the map. "Humh.. Francies 'Skull' Margani offed some information.... There should be a trade route.. That way?" Samuel pointed east and shook his head. "Well there are trade routes all the way, but a real good one is needed... Erh" He folded the map and placed it back in the sash. "You all know what! We just left the port, let's just see where the sea takes us!" He turned the wheel and let the ship sail in a steady pace. "Emory! Do tell if you see any trading vessels. And beware still.. There should be a royal convoy for the british somewhere.. Can't let them sneak up on us, Har-Har!"

[dice]43[/dice]

"Ay, Captain!" Emory called down, from where she was nestled in a tangled web of ropes. She took out her spyglass and scanned the horizon. There wasn't much to see, they seemed to be the only ship for miles. After a short while, Emory started to climb down. She thought it best to get the new recruits settled. They'd want a good night's sleep before they sobered up and realized they'd signed on to a pirate ship.

Margret smiled wide at his compliments. She always tried her hardest to earn respect, she was glad she got it from him. "Well then." She started, snatching up the coin and jumping onto the deck. "How shall we fetch the jewel?" She was still smiling when an crew man from the crow's nest shouted something. He was saying there was a ship. He said it was a britsh navy ship. Off the bow. Margret quickly walked to the bow and took out her telescope. There was, in fact, a ship. Though from her point if veiw it was impossible to tell what type it was. Let alone if it was a British ship or not.

Suddenly a ship appeared within sight range of the black crown, coming over the horizon. It was not british however in a sense, rather it was a privateer. Quite the famous one at that. In the ships crows nest a younger man sat looking over the herizon. He was the lieutenant of the crew, a high role for someone so young but he deserved it, he had done of the best eyes and aim on the ship. He saw the ship and took out a note and wrote a message on it and dropped it down rolled up so it wouldnt float away. His sister, the second lieutenant of the crew was at the bottom waiting for any news. Her brother disliked yelling when something appeared on the horizon as he thought it created to much noise, so when the paper landed she snatched it up. They were Rachel and Marcus Fay, two of the most dangerous privateers alive. Rachel looked at the paper and yelled out excitingly. "We got a pirate on the horizon!" The man all looked at her then look at the man sitting at the wheel. "Set course, were going to investigate." With a cheer the ship turned towards the black crown.

Emory paused in her descent, seeing a dark shape appearing off in the distance. She wrapped a bit of rope around her wrist, securing herself so she wouldn't fall, then took out her eyeglass one more. "There's a ship on the horizon!" she called out. She started down again, as quickly as she could, sliding down the last few feet, rope chafing her hands.

Samuel sighed again and scanned. "Oi... What's that.." He took his spyglass and looked through it. "A ship.." He said slowly, He grinned devilishly. "All hands ON DECK!" Samuel roared. "We've got a ship in sight.. Time to see who our special guests are! Ready your muskets, sharpen your cutlasses and load yer' pistols. Let us make them send our regards to Davy Jones' Locker." Samuel grinned again taking the spyglass up to his eye again he peered through and watched the other ship. "Prepare the cannons, do not fire.. Not until we get real close and personal." Samuel took the wheel again and turned the ship a little, making sure it was ready to turn to a broadside. "Humh.. Something seems odd though.. " He muttered to himself.. "Doesn't look like yer' usual merchant vessel.."

Suddenly Emory yelled about another ship on the horizon, Samuel turned to where Emory was and muttered. "
Humph? Two.. Eh now I'm certain... We've strayed from the trade routes.." Samuel jogged over and stood up on the railings to the starboard. "Aye..." He looked through the spyglass. "That's a privateering flag I see... So if thats a privateer.. The one we're going after is either a brit or neutral party...." Samuel sighed, now that they wanted action they were going to get twice the amount. Samuel moved down to the wheel again and yelled out from his position as he turned the ship towards their new 'friend'. "Change of plan! We got some sulky privateers coming our way! Get the cannons loaded! Let 'em come close enough.. But keep an eye our for the friend at our backs.. can't have two backstabbers attacking us." Samuel peered around to see if the other ship had moved, thankfully it was still motionless.. But bad luck or just really bad luck happened and he spotted another ship.. This one was also quite a big one.. "OH.. Come on Davy! Three ships! Worm livered bug.." A sailor looked to the new ship and turned to Samuel. "Cap'n.. That... Is a british ship.." Samuel batted his eye.. "Oh Sonova whore.. This day can't get any better.. We'll take the privateer since it's closest.. Then get in a better position for the rest! MOVE IT!"

Rezek quickly jumped to the railings and onto the riggings. "CAPTAIN!" He yelled down. "Two ships starboard! They are pretty far away, one of them were moving to us but is turning.. The other is moving towards the first..!" Rezek jumped down again and looked to Captain Brown. "What are your orders? Do we engage? Or wait until they've bled themselves dry? I will say for certain, neither of them are merchant ships.. But.." He peered again, leaning all the way from the railing. "The latter is too far away to see, but the first is certainly not british.. Privateer? Or a pirate.. Those are my best bets.. Neutral parties usually don't swim these waters." Rezek studied the two ships for a while before jumping unto the rigging again. "Scabby arsed bladder suckin' cockroach.. BRITISH FLAG!" Rezek pointed, and clear as day a single mast appeared even further away, gloriously showing it's alignment. "Rat spawned stick O' Manure.. Captain Two 'neutral' vessels and one very big british ship.."

"Hey.. Captain Rogers.. We're not employing any privateers are we?" The young admiral peered to the older officer. "No.. Sir.. You've personally executed every privateer that served the british since your fathers death.. Well.. Most that is.. Some have escaped.." Kandell peered trough his telescope. "Then it must serve the spaniards.. Or perhaps the dutch? Do the french still use privateers?" The officer looked down to the admiral. "I do believe so, sir. But I will say this would be a fine time to see the Iron Fists at it's best.. Certainly now we are nearing port Henry, the royal convoy needs to resupply and gather the last cargo from the port before setting sail towards England." James beamed. "Perfect.. Privateers and pirates.. Neither deserves to live for what they've done! Rogers get the men ready.. It'll be some time before we reach them.." James smiled.. Certainly if a privateer wasn't heading his way or fleeing directly.. It must've set it's eyes upon something.. Hopefully a lead to where the Pirate king was..

They said a a storm brewed in the open sea.. No not one from the heavens.. But one from the sea.. Four ships each with their own goals.. closing in on each other.. The roars of the cannons and screams from the men would echo for years.. Or atleast that is the tale of the battle of the smoking sea.. In the end.. It all depended on who shot first.. But one thing was certain... Something watched the ships.. Something.. Sinister...

Emory didn't have time to deal with her wounded hands now. She'd have to hope the rope burn wouldn't slow her down. She raced to the captain's side, saying "What colors are they flying?" She asked. "Should we raise our own flag, or wait and see?" Emory knew what she'd do if she were captain. She wouldn't raise the flag, letting the other ships think the Black Crown a merchant ship or a slaver. If they raised the flag now, and alerted the other ships they were pirates, they'd be better prepared for an attack. She didn't offer any suggestions, knowing how unpredictable Samuel could be. Sometimes he seemed to value her advice, sometimes it only angered him.

Margret was scared. A British naval ship on one end. 2 likely hostile ships on the other. She tried balancing greed and survival. The British ship probably wont have loot. If she attacked the British navymen first, the other ships would be done fighting by then. But it all depened on which ship was stronger... and she didn't know. She figured in this one instance she should just blow the ships apart, not trying to perserve the ship or the money that was on board. She decided to let the neutral parties fight eachother while she went to the British ship. "ALL HANDS ON DECK, UNFURL THE SAILS! WE'RE GOING FOREWARD! PREPARE THE CANNONS!" she yelled, going all around the ship. She circled the deck and stopped back at the bow, pulling out her telescope again and inspecing the British ship as they got closer.

Emilia had sprung to attention when her captain demanded they set sail, and she couldn't exactly complain. She had nearly been shot/stabbed/molested too many times for her liking. She and Emory had taken care of the rigging, being that they were the smallest and most agile of the crew. It always was in the back of her mind that if she slipped, she'd be tangled in the ropes and... Emilia shook her head, dislodging the thought of being tied up, and she made her way down to the deck. She went back to stand by her captain, awaiting orders. And that's when they spotted the first ship. And then a second. Emilia tensed, following the path the ships took with her eyes. Well, this'll probably end horribly... fantastic! Emilia frowned though as a crew member (what was his name again? ...eh, who cares) called to the captain that one of the ships was a British ship. Emilia scowled at the water. Well, that's just great. And before we know it, there'll be a f-cking kraken to destroy the ship. Emilia groaned quietly and looked to her captain, awaiting orders other than being told to "move it", which was vague in her opinion considering she was only good in fights, interrogations, getting into tight spaces, and lying. Emory came over and asked about the flag, and Emilia frowned. Hmm... good question. Wonder what Captain Sam will say to that...

Rezek leaped to the wheel as the captain moved to the bow to study the british ship. "AY LADS! We tasted on a merchant.. Now for the navy gold!" Rezek spun the wheel away from the two ships, towards the british one. The Whore was moving slowly first and more to the side. "Captain! The wind isn't in our favor.. But neither the brits!" Rezek yelled, Fewer cannons, but the Whore had one advantage over other middle sized ships.. It could turn much faster. It wasn't long until they had gotten into battle-sails speed. "Alright take the cannons.. Captain! On your-.. Suckin' crud bucket.. That is a ship of the line... That thing is huge... CAPTAIN!?" Rezek turned the ship slightly.. Ready to give a broadside.. Or turn.. Rezek counted the cannons one by one.. "That thing.. Cap'n..." He muttered, not at all enough for the captain to hear him.. "That thing is.. Davy Jones take us.. That's big..."

"Master Kandell.. It seems a pirate barque is going for us.." Kandell moved over to the port-side.. "That thing? I guess these three ships are not allied.. Humh.. Get into position, fire the fifty cannons on our broadside.. That should be enough to atleast make the dogs back away." Kandell smiled.

The british flagship Iron Fist turned slowly and suddenly.. Everything went silent. A cloud of smoke raised from the cannons.. "Damage report?" Said James still with the wicked smile. "I would believe 25 rounds hit.. Won't sink their ship.. But it will certainly let them see the might of the navy. Sir."

"Good.. Reload and get ready to fire again. Let us see if the dogs can bite.. Hardly.. Only the finest material is used for the Iron Fist.. And none escapes it's rule!"

Rezek's gut feeling tingled. "HIT THE DECK!" He yelled as black rounds swooped above them, the ship rocketed as rounds hit the deck. "Cap'n! That ship got fifty rounds on each side.. We need to outmanoeuvre that beast! There's only a few of it's kin around.. But the firepower of those are unbelieveable!" Rezek took to his arm, he had a splinter pierced through it.. It wasn't the first time that happened, but it still was quite painful. Luckily it was not his main arm. "It's slow!!" Rezek turned the wheel around, trying to move around the large battle ship "Fire at your command!"

Samuel turned lightly as he heard the loud cannon noises. "Davy Jones.. They are going directly at that thing.." He looked as both Drake and Freeman came up to him at their own paces, Emory with the question on raising their flag. "Hehe..." Killeye grinned devilishly again. "Raise the flag.. That ship is a privateer.. And they better damn know the Black Crown.." Samuel turned the ship and headed full frontal towards the privateer's ship. "Get ready to board 'em... I want to see the people who wanted to hunt the Black Crown.. HAR HAR!" Laughed Samuel, his eye reflecting fire. "Out on the endless ocean.. We tear along the gales.. With rum inside our bellies warm and freedom in our sails.." Muttered Samuel. "A wayward bunch of scoundrels. Assassins, thieves and slaves... The rich and blue bloods fear us when we hunt upon the waves.." Sam turned the wheel slightly, so the Crown was danger close to ramming the privateer's ship but still not crashing.. "BOARDERS GET READY!" He yelled, his voice raising as he continued to sing afterwards. "And when you see it coming.. That flag of baleful black.. No point in turning tail, there's no escaping our attack!"

Emilia grinned as the captain took up singing his favorite sea shanty, one that quite beautifully fit what the Black Crown represented; justice and badassery. And what could beat that? Nothing. Emilia cracked her knuckles, as she prepared o board. No way could she possibly sit this one out. No way in Davy Jones' locker. And Emilia took up singing with the captain, grinning maliciously and excitedly. "Yo-ho! Yo-ho! We row beneath the black flag! A rolickin' we go! We own the sea and sky!"

Margret was scared shitless when she saw the amount of cannons the ship had, until they fired. As soon as they began whistling above her head and crashing into the side: she went into war mode. She became the fierce, angry woman she always was during battle. She raced below decks and, to the men manning the cannon, she barked "HOLD!" She was waiting till the whore was closer. "LOAD THE SHELLS!" They were almost close enough... "READY! ANNNDDD...FIRE!" she yelled

Cedric heard the singing as they approached, 'quite the tune to make up for a pirate.' He thought to himself as he watched their approach. Rachel squinted at them and said. "The black crown huh, heh we actually found a pretty famous one." Another sailor looked over at the approaching ship. "Captain by their attack path its safe to say that they ethier mean to ram which is unlikely or bored us." He suspicions got confirmed when he heard them yell for their men to prepare to board. Cedric sat silent for a moment and said. "Prepare for ship battle position 3." In a moment the ordered registered to the crew and they all ran off grabbing weapons and preparing, however their strategy would seem strange to the approaching ship. This did not seem like a group of pirates ready to do hot blooded battle, this looked like a army preparing for war. Cedric said, "Its time to let them know who we are, its to late for them to change strategy's. Hoist the colors and unfurl the sails." In truth Cedric preferred these kind of battles, there was less wear and tear on his ship afterwords. Meanwhile two crew man moved with haste to follow the captains order. The privateers flag was lowered and his personal flag raised.(http://tradingcompanyno3.com/uploads/2/8/9/0/2890312/1570596_orig.jpg)

The flag was well known, its was the cutlass and daggers. It belonged to a ship that had suddenly appeared out of no where in a french navy port carrying the heads of 3 pirates of renown in thier own right in order to get the Frenches attention. Their is no history of their captain before he showed up in that port but he was quickly hired by the french. Since then he turned out to be one of the most deadly privateers in existence. The captain a strategist that was said to be able to command army's he usually used his mobility to take his ship and close range and fight on deck. They were know to be some of the best ship on ship fighting for one reason. They did not fight like a pirate crew but rather like a army. Their actions were orderly and precise while still containing the savagery of a pirates fighting style. And now that ship was to close for them to make distance as it sailed at them. In a semi circle around where the landing would be, 10 of the largest men walked up with large thick wooden shields that covered a mans entire body and thick enough to block small arms and placed it down and got ready to hold with other reinforcements behind them of about 25 spear men. on both ends of the ship where it raised sharp shooter teams protected by sword men and over cover put on deck got ready to unload with many full guns laying beside them while about 10 in each group (the younger ones did nothing but reload). The rest of his men were armed with a assortment of weapons from traditional pirate cutlasses to rapiers and halberds. Every man had a job, a distinct purpose in his plan. After all this was Cedrics style of warfare.
