[Lords of Creation] (Qing Jin's Library) Chapter 1: A Series of Unfortunate Events

Kain

"Good good... Just as I said... You will all be loyal guards I'm sure..."

Kain watched everyone do their thing scratching the back of his head slightly as his otter peeped out to look around. He sounded a little distraught as he spoke before, knowing everyone had pretty much ignored him. If Kain expected more he was a little off his rocker, being as he really didn't give them the same curtsy. That and he was a bit annoying, at least to these warrior types. Cowardice and fast talking worked more on the upper class.

"Well... I'll just... Follow this guy then... Yep.. Following you..."

He moved behind Aero following him. If only because he had a fancy sword, and seemed to have the most GAR. That meant he was the safest! With all the pirates around, Kain definitely felt a little out of place anyways. These were brutes and savages, no better then the dirt on his feet and he was going to have to run away with them. Was he reduced to such poor standards already...? Still, he didn't have a choice. It was a bite the bullet move for him. Didn't stop him from complaining however.

"So, is there like a bath on the ship. I mean... how do you keep clean? Also, I was wondering maybe if you had a spare room? You know so I don't have to sleep around so many people? It's a phobia I swear. And also..."

Kana

Kana runs up the wall, and makes her way allong the rooftops looking for the archer, heading for the general direction she saw the archer moving before.

-------------------------------------------------

Wall Running Technique (1m personal)

Jumping roofs if I need to: Dex+Athletics 6

Kana rolled the following on her 6 dice:

6, 9, 7, 1, 1, 8

Using 7 as the target number, the roll resulted in 3 successes.

Find the archer: Perception+Awareness 9

Kana rolled the following on her 9 dice:

4, 3, 3, 6, 2, 7, 10, 6, 3

Using 7 as the target number, the roll resulted in 3 successes.

Try not to startle the general public with my shadowiness: Dex+Stealth 8

Kana rolled the following on her 8 dice:

1, 10, 8, 6, 5, 3, 3, 3

Using 7 as the target number, the roll resulted in 3 successes.

The dice are trying to tell me something... but all I can hear is 3...

Her hand shook for a moment as she kept the bow pointed at the commander, but her will was fading as quickly as it had burgeoned. Alia had only been distraught enough to attack the freaking Wyld Hunt in a futile effort to save or avenge the people inside the inn and protect the Solars, and while she had failed abysmally at the first, the second seemed to have come to fruition. With no particular danger to herself, fortunately - no one had seen her face in the earlier fracas, so it would seem that she had gotten away with it.

Letting out a breath that she hadn't realized she'd been holding, Alia lowered the bow, unable or unwilling to attack the fleeing men. Bloody compassion. She knew that she should have tagged each of the Dragonblooded at least once, or at the very least, killed one of them - the more time they needed to recover, the longer it would take to get back in gear. She could only hope that the commander would be out of action for a few days, at least; the wound had looked deep enough, though she wasn't sure how much that actually meant to the gargantuan warrior.

Ah well. She had to meet up with the Solars, assuming they were still alive and not entirely berserker morons. Fortunately for her general lack of drive, one of them seemed to be making their way towards her - or she thought it was probably a Solar, anyways. Could just as well be a Dragonblooded assassin left behind to take out the sniper as soon as she revealed herself.

Curiosity won out over caution, and Alia stepped out of the shadows, hopping over a chasm between two buildings to move closer to the oncoming shadow, while still keeping both her hands on her bow. Just because she thought it might be a Solar didn't mean that it was a Solar.

"As always." Radiance crossed his arms and grinned, light-heartedly, at his First Mate, and nodded behind him. "We got a couple of corpses. See that they get loaded up on the Spirit, we'll figure out what to do with them tonight."

He about-faced and turned to Kain, hand resting on his hip, the other dangling dangerously close to his revolver. "You're not going to find a bath on my warship. And I'm not letting you alone on any of my other ships, fellow Anathema or not. No offense, but I have to keep things under control."

Radiance cocked his head slightly, looking past Kain, at the tell-tale flicker of motion and light from the burning Inn. It was a pity they hadn't managed to at least knock down one of the Dragons responsible. But hopefully the guy had a revenge thing and would come after them.

He started off again, but stopped to lean towards one of his men on guard duty. He lightly described that he'd be expecting three guests, possibly four, counting Kain, and to send anyone that wasn't on crew to go directly to his cabin.

With a sharp gesture to Kain, that's where he headed.

Kana

Kana caught sight of the archer as she jumped between buildings. She continued towards her, and slowed after reaching the same rooftop. "We thank you for your assisstance there. I'll assume from that shot you are one of the exalts they were hunting. You would be the fifth solar here today it seems. We were thinking to get out of this place before it was crawling with dragons and realm soldiers. If you'd like to join us come with me to the docks."

"Oh joy..."

Kain said in response to Radiance sounding less then amused. Still, he decided to just head to the cabin as was what Radiance wanted. He walked there slowly letting the men who knew the way show him. His otter popped back out from his pocket and moved to his shoulder now that it was sure danger wasn't going to follow.

Radiance's chambers were almost laughably stereotypical. A nice bad (with room for four or more) bolted to the ground, a nice desk...bolted to the ground. A bookshelf, bolted to the ground, filled with books, carefully placed in ridges. And bolted in some way.

Yes, it looked like a rather fancy office/living quarters, with all the amenities at home, with finely carved doors that looked out of place in the rest of the warship, with everything bolted to the ground and carefully folded and what-have-you to keep them sliding all about during storms and attacks.

The Captain himself sighed as the two made it inside, walking to his desk and picking up a fancy, horribly stereotypical, hat, plopping it on his head.

<Low Realm> "Do you speak Seatongue? River? Sky?"

<Old Realm> "Or, if you're a sorcerer, Old Realm? I just can't stand Low Realm!"

He chuckled, and gestured his thumb at one of the pretty doors. <Low> "You will be finding baths in there, yeah? Have to be rough in front of crew."

A vicious shake of his head, as he composes his words quickly. <Low> "But I would be delighted to talk for a bit. You used magic, right?"

Kain's eyes lit up like a 12 year old school boy that just discovered there was porn on the internet.

<Old> "Old realm will do just fine. Yes, I do prefer this over common Low Realm, it seems just so... well poor. You know? Still, it's good for buisness and travels. Did I mention I love you? This is fantastic!", Kain said before taking note of the next part of Radiance's talk. It couldn't be helped but he seemed to grow a little more respect for him. Finally someone who wasn't so... Barbaric.

"Yes, I do actually. I learned it a while ago. I grew an interest in the first age and as I saw the sorcery that could be preformed and how I myself could do such it made me just feel... Closer to the beauty of that age. I've read many books, and when I exalted I could swear I had almost lived through it. You can call learning about such my hobby, though sometimes I might even say my obsession. It does interest me that you are also Solar Exalted, do you know much of the age?

Alia, to Kana

"That was the plan. Well, something along those lines, anyways. Lead on, miss; I'll follow."

<Old>

"Uh...I speak Old Realm?" He shrugged, taking a seat in a plush chair, resting his boots on the desk in front of him. "But that came with the whole...Solar?"

He thumbed in the direction of the burning Inn as he lit a cigarette, offering one to Kain during the motion. "Young lady I met at the Inn was going on about Solars, too. I don't know about that. Or the First Age. That's all heresy, isn't it?"

A plume of smoke from his mouth, and hung in the air about him, as he fiddled around with thoughts. "I guess that explains the gold light and the Sun-kiss and all. Do you have one of those, uh..." He tapped his forehead with his spare hand. "Halos? Crests? Too? I've been using mine to read. Or keep track of time when we get lost out of sea. ...somehow?"

He chuckled, and stood up, twisting on his heel and leaning against a wall. "Solar Exalted, huh? That's more exciting than being a demon. Those are the big bad guys. I've always loved playing the antagonist."

A gesture at the bookshelf, holding a few books on naval tactics and maps and what-have-you, but the rest tended to be a growing collection of plays. "And with you, and the guy with the swords, that's three of us. Judging how Kana moved her sweet ah---her self up those walls, I bet she is too. So if that archer is, indeed, and on our side, that's five. That's what I call a party, huh?"

"Sweet self, yes, good choice of words. Even still, say that archer was in fact a solar and there are five of us. Isn't this something of a rarity?", Kain had taken the cigarette and soon her was enjoying it as well. He decided to continue answering the questions moving his way backwards from what Valentine had said.

"I use mine to read sometimes as well, but its more of a nuisance. I like public places, and it becomes exceedingly difficult to use there. Still, this mark of the sun is interesting. With it comes such a great power over mortals", he spoke as he paused slightly.

"I believe there was another woman with the swordsman yes? She looked like this", Kain pulled out the trinket bulb he still had.

"It's magic... see it uhhh.... well it glows so its magic ok."

Kana

Kana nodded at the archer. "My name is Kana."

Kana headed off toward the docks keeping to the rooftops and alleyways as much as possible. She wasn't exactly sure what ship she was looking for, but hopefully it would be the only one with any sense of activity at this time of night.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Perception+Investigation to find Radiance's ship without having to ask around

(let me know if I should roll something else I totally just made something up based on what I think I am doing)

Kana rolled the following on her 9 dice:

5, 6, 8, 5, 2, 5, 3, 6, 9

Using 7 as the target number, the roll resulted in 2 successes.

"Yeah, but she took off." He took off his silly hat and tossed it back to land on the desk again, shifting his weight from side to side. "I think. The sworder wasn't really specific."

"But I went through all the trouble to find out it was magic..."

He looked at the bulb kinda upset for a second.

Kana, Alia, Aeroulus:

Sure enough, there is only one group of ships that look like they're getting ready to leave in the dead of night. One is noticeably bigger and grander than the rest. Odds are that's where that odd captain fellow is basing himself. There's a couple of guards on the gangplanks, making themselves as obvious as possible. They take a look at you, and say "Cap'n said to expect someone who looked like you lot. Come on, I'll show you to 'im..."

You're led to Radiance's cabin.

<Old> "Well, yes, I'm sure it's quite magi--"

He turned quickly, cigarette perched in his hands like a deadly stabbing weapon as the door to his room was opened. Normally, there's a rule about that: Only the lady on the ship or an emergency opens his door without a knock, and being on edge for that Wyld Hunt, he was prepared to violate whoever entered with his burning cherry---but, alas, it was just the rest of the group.

<Low> "Kana, dear! I was just going on about your assets!" Zing! "And the sworder is with you...leaving us with the Archer, yes?" He moved to the group, outstretching his arms and smiling broadly, as if to say something like 'welcome to my ship' but instead, keeping that same facial expression, he walked directly past them and to one of his sailors outside, giving a sharp order or three in Skytongue.

There was no time to distribute his crew amongst the entire 'fleet', and so he'd have to risk leaving his other ships in the relative safety of the port. Given that he had an excuse for all of them to be there, under several names under several businesses (some real, some fiction), he wasn't terribly worried about them falling into the hands of their hunters, and even then, some things became far more important that material wealth.

Such as your neck.

As the man snapped a salute and took off to organize the crew, Radiance shut the door behind him and beamed around the room, as if he had something of important to say. But he really had nothing, given the situation, and took an other drag from his cigarette for a moment.

<Low> "I'm....well, most of it is in Sky, but -- Gentle, Ever-flowing Radiance. And obviously, this lovely gal here is Kana...but what are the names of the rest of you?"

Aeroulus

"Just call me Dreadnought." He said leaning against the wall on the far side of the room. "Any idea where we're going?"

"Not particularly, yeah?" He resumed his place leaning against the wall, eyes focused on the burning end of his cigarette. "Just out to sea for...few hours. If plans to leave happen..."

He shook his head. "If we plan to leave, I'll have to come back for my other ships. Welcome aboard, Dreadnought."

Aeroulus

"I'm not particularly fond of places I can't put my foot down, so to speak. I'd feel more better if we just left the town of Azure for good and kept i moving elsewhere."

Radiance's cabin:

There is a knock on the door, which opens, and the other Solars file in, followed by one of the sailors. He bows to Radiance and says "Beggin' yer pardon, m'lord, but there's some sounds out in the town, the lads reckon maybe if we was going to be heading out, sooner's better than later..."
