Graceless
One Time Luck
Hi there! I’m extremely new to this site, but a long time roleplayer. I haven’t roleplayed in years but I’ve continued to write in my hiatus from collaboration, and recently I’ve had the urge to seek the creative energy and companionship I once derived from this pastime. This was the first site I stumbled across and it seemed the perfect community to re-immerse myself in role playing.
You can call me Grace, I’m employed full-time, though my work is done entirely on a computer with some flexibility to allow responses during work hours. I’m looking for a few eloquent and elaborate writers to partake in in 1 on 1 role plays. I've put some thought into the the qualities I’m seeking in a partner/role play:
- Articulate and detailed: This isn't to say I require a certain length of post or publisher-level quality writing, but I do want someone who can create and drive a story with me. I enjoy all writing styles, but something simplistic without detail will not hold my attention long. So many people are against ‘one-liners’, but even in books, sometimes the only response is a simplistic one, especially during conversation. So while I don’t encourage them, if the scene warrants shorter responses, that’s perfectly fine.
- Active: I don’t have a particular time frame requirement on posts. Lives get busy and sometimes you just don’t feel like writing. But hopefully posting at the very least once or twice a week should be manageable barring extenuating circumstances to which I hope you’d inform me of so I’m not left hanging.
- Gender and Pairings: I have role played both genders and all types of pairings romantically and platonically and have no qualms either way. I love a challenge and stepping out of my comfort zone to push my limits as a writer, which is probably why I tended to play as males more than females.
- Character sheets: I will do them if requested, but typically I like to formulate the character through writing. If you want picture references, anime or real people are fine with me. Sometimes I like to draw my characters :3
- Fandom: Sorry, I do not typically role play any of the sort. I used to, and used to love it, but I suppose I've grown out of the enjoyment of using someone else’s characters as a template for a story. OCCASIONALLY I will relent to role playing an original story (and characters) in the world of a fandom. I have nothing against it, and I’d be a liar to say I don’t base my own content on other books and shows or whatever (nothing is new under the sun and all that), I just don’t enjoy it much anymore.
- Plotting: I love plots. Please create and drive plot lines with me! I have a very hard time just picking a topic without any idea as to how the story will proceed. I will happily do it, as it’s a creative challenge and one of the big reasons I wanted to come back to roleplaying. But generally, I prefer to rough draft some sort of plot line for the course of the story to take. If you are the type of role player to simple react and not create action and situations, you may not be a good partner for me.
Genres and interests
- Fantasy, historical or modern
Creatures, Demons, Vampires, magic users, legendary items, gods, summoners, super powers, etc
[*]Realistic, historical or modern
[*]*Futuristic (I don’t have a lot of experience here so you’d have to really carry the world building aspect)
Plots
The Shadow Councils - Entirely fictional universe, fantasy, magic
A kingdom is on the brink of revolution. The king’s health is failing and without an heir of his own, succession for the Drovalian throne is uncertain. The noble families vie for the honor and power of becoming rulers and play their petty games in court. All the while unawares of the greater game of chess being played by the Shadow Councils, the warlords of the criminal underworld and the people in true control of the various cities across Drovalia. In Pretyr, the kingdom’s capital city, the council control all of the crime in the city, including prostitution, smuggling, assassinations, gambling and the gangs, and they have their own plans for the intended successor. The Midlands is not necessarily a peaceful land however, and Drovalia’s internal turmoil has caught the eye of it’s neighboring countries Deridorn, home to the Magus Guild and Vralor, ruled by tyrannical priests, slavery, and the religious fervor for a destructive God. Will they be content to watch from afar or add their own pawns to the game.
Multiple roles could be played here as well as playing out roles in the neighboring countries if those interest you more.
Roles: Assassin, Council member, Shadow Lord (head of a city’s shadow council), Noble family member, gang member, courtesan, Mage/assassin/s etc from another country, the list goes on, it’s up to your imagination.
Bound
The Summoner’s guild has been the gatekeepers to the underworld for thousands of years. Tasked with both guarding the portals to Hell and the Spirit World and maintaining the secrecy of underworld from humans, they wield some of the strongest magic in the world. As such, it is one of the hardest schools of magic to gain entry to and the most closely guarded in their arts. Summoner’s are aptly named for the double edged sword of their abilities. Their power lies in their ability to bind the power of any non-mage creature of the underworld to their own, using the strength of demons and spirits against their own wayward kind. While a cruel practice in some regards, much of the rest of the magical community see it as a necessary evil to keep the denizens of the Hell in control and arbitrate conflict between the Underworld community. However unease has been brewing among the other magical Guilds. So much power in the hands of one faction has been raising more concerns than ever with the Magi, the Enchanters, and the Alchemists. The Cleric guild, ever devoted to it’s art in healing, refuses to take part in the growing conflict.
I have many different ideas to play out depending on what you’d like to do. :3 A powerful summoner goes rogue, playing young mages in school before choosing their guild, or in schooling with a particular guild, some other conflict arises from one of the underworld factions and a summoner must arbitrate, etc. Feel free to give me your own ideas! This world leaves it open for vampires, werewolves, any magical or non magical entity you wish to play!
One of the plot lines I’ve been interested in playing out summoner x Demon*, the demon being bound for one reason or another to help the summoner with some overarching conflict.
Gender-Bender based theme in school (college or high school)
This is a more general plot line that I am such a sucker for (I love the mangas about this). It’s your basic girl enters all boys school for one reason or another (sport, academia, crush, etc.) and shenanigans ensue. I typically prefer the male role in this. :3
Some other pairings/concepts that I would be interested in developing stories around
- Gang / guild war (depending on whether you like fantasy or modern) - Lots of intrigue, backstabbing, and sadism :3
- Slice of Life - We can develop any basic plot if you’re the type who just wants to keep it realistic with no drastic world changing events going on.
- Bounty hunting (modern or fantasy)
- Holy Grail War (Fate/Stay Night concept, probably the only fandom I’d consider role playing)
- Vampires
- Assassin / elite guard / mercenary / ‘gifted’ training or school - basic plots for this, but I love anything with inherent conflict.
I am of course open to ideas and plots of your own, or brainstorming a new one if you think I’d be a good partner for you.
