Searching for writing partners
Roleplay Availability
Roleplay Type(s)
Hello there,
Last year i made a decision to move things around and been trying to gain some attraction to my interest check,
But this year ive notice lack of communication with one/two ghosting without saying anything or no new writers at all. Im coming up on my twenty fifth ghosted and if it gets to fifty then i feel like im going to loose hope.

What is a way to gain new writing partners?

Multiple Settings - A Hero's Journey: Marvelous Compilation

After taking a look at your interest check I really don't see anything that's particularly wrong, at least not which is also relevant. It's a little confusing for plots to be even more fandom stuff and talking about increasing detail and following it with "I start at two sentences" is also a little strange I think, but none of this would make or break anything. Though I guess two sentences is often a one-liner which most seem to explicitly avoid, but I'm not sure how many people really made that connection or if they treat the "but I can write more" with the same skepticism that I do.

The thread is overall well-organized, doesn't have a bad tone, informative, it's just very well put together. The problem doesn't seem to be the interests either, or at least that's unlikely seeing how not only do you have a good variety of different fandoms, but many of those are (for lack of a better term) "mainstream".

The only two pieces of advice here would be concerning ships:
---> Are ships the only way you RP fandoms? If not, perhaps an explicit statement that the ships are a separate addition to the fandoms and not a requirement might help in case anyone got confused. Do keep in mind specific pairings make it exponentially harder to find a partner for a fandom, as not only does the person have to be into that fandom, they also have to be specifically interested in the pairing you want and on the side of that pairing you want them to be in.

---> You didn't state which side of a pairing you wanted (in the ships list). If you're indifferent among all of them, again I think it's good to state that explicitly. If you're not, then clarifying which side you'd prefer is pretty much necessary.

Other than that, again, it's hard to say what the problem might be. Luck or timing are most likely the reason, but that's just by process of elimination. A trick that might help a little is keeping a decently active presence on the site and having the search thread in your signature. This doesn't help a ton, but it catch you a pair of eyeballs once in a while that didn't go explicitly looking for a roleplay but saw you were searching and maybe liked something you said.

Best of luck with your search!

My old partner messaged me asking me to change it i can change it back though to multi just not too grand at multi paragraph.

With ships list i made it to get a feel of who im looking for, i thought others knew thats who im asking them to rp as but can change it up if needed. Edit : fixed it

It depends yes the ship is who im searching for but doesnt mean i cant double for them. Just cant do mxm or pairing like bruce and barbra without getting mentally sick.

Otherwise im always active

I think you should mark it as looking for fandoms. What I looked at seemed more fandom based than original so speaking for myself, that isn't something I would want to do. Not saying anything is wrong with that but I think it could help people understand what it is you're looking for. Also, I was a bit confused by some of it. Are you looking for others to play canons to your original character or both players to play canons and originals? It might help to clear that up.

The other thing. I was very confused by how much you write. Is it two sentences or more? I think it helps to be exact on how much you can write. Not a lot of people are fans of close to one liners but then there are those who are.

Others to play canons but i also offer doubling so i can play someone for them

I write alot for starters but two sentances for normal sometimes more depending on scene. But there are times where i cant write as much so mainly two
But One liners arent two sentances, ive seen worse ones that are one liner or just three or more words

So two things off the bat :

Your search doesn’t show up in light mode. I think you have your text set to white which means people can’t read it unless their on dark mode.

I would also maybe provide a link to an old roleplay to give people an example of what your can write. Because two sentences are going to be interpreted as one-liner even if that’s not literally true.

(Also keep in mind if your on mobile your post is gonna seem a lot longer then people looking at it from a computer screen, because your screen is smaller).

Got it let me see

Oh crap the code broke as soon as i change the color

What did they tell you exactly?

Others know you're asking them to RP as one of the two members of the ship, but you didn't say which one. Which either implies you don't care which it is, or that you do care but simply (presumably) forgot to state it. Either way it's something you should explicitly explain (that you either don't care, or if you do care then which one you prefer)

I think what Nerdy just said is probably where the miscommunication here is, I and Inno Inno (do correct me if I'm wrong Inno) are coming at this from a PC or at least non-phone perspective of one-liners. Indeed, in phone two sentences probably looks like a lot more.

Well, nothing wrong with writing more or less of course. People have their own preferences, and in the end you're going to have a bad time if you can't keep what you promise, so it's better to be honest about how much one writes and expects others to write for them.

Inno? I kinda like that. I really do, actually.
I use a phone or my tablet. To me on it, two sentences looks like two sentences not much more...sorry.

Yeah I think other then the writing sample the biggest thing is to just simplify things.

I think your best bet is to just state outright :

I am looking for someone to play a canon for my OC. I can double as anyone for you.

I am only interested in MxF or FxF pairings.

Oh also I just remembered : you don’t have a post schedule either. You say your always active but you don’t indicate how often you want your partner to post.

I know roleplays with shorter replies often require quick responses so that might be another turn off. A lot of people have work or whatever that means they can’t be available for a long period of time.

*points out the rule stating I am only on mobile most of the time due to work, but sometimes not available due to rl* can add more but is unsure of how to tell others im active just not extremely active as i am during the spring to fall but not active on holidays

Idea Idea they said and i quote:
I saw your 1x1 interest check the other day and noticed that your first rule states: "I can write multi para a sentance or more) but not literate or novel."

I just thought I should give a heads up, just so that no one reading your thread in the future gets confused. Since multi para means multiple paragraphs, that's gonna be more than just a sentence. So if
you're looking to attract people that write multiple paragraphs (which would be numerous sentences), you might want to tweak your wording there. If you're not looking for people that write numerous sentences/multiple paragraphs, you might consider omitting "multi para".

Removed a few things so they dont see this

Why not set a schedule for yourself? Even though you are on mobile most of the time, still point out that you can write however many times in a week. Once or twice. Several times a week. Just say you are active but there are times when you have obligations outside of roleplay that require your attention. I think people will understand. Hopefully with the spring and fall stuff and if someone expects you to write on holidays I personally would be looking with someone else to write with. I mean it's the holidays.

Hi Comicwolf! Hope everything's going well! I dunno if you remember, but I'm actually _____. We did a rp and various others a long time ago.

Alright, so yeah. I don't think you should change it to say "multi para" or anything else that would imply you're writing more than you do. It was a minor thing to begin with, just the confusing contrast of increasing in detail with 2 sentences. I took another look at your thread, and the rewording you seem to have made from "2 sentences" to "a few sentences" I think makes the whole sentence make sense currently so I'd keep it.

They're not wrong though if this is what you are looking for in interest from other players.

Idk why the code is still breaking gonna have to leave it alone till later

I will keep it there then just hope it doesnt scare people off

what about this:
I am only on mobile and will be active several times a week but i do have obligations outside of rp to deal with

So for instance here is what I do :

I work mon-fri

It gives people a clear expectation of when I’m gonna be busy and when I’m available.

Now if someone wants to roleplay I do let them know that I can check in before or after my shift but that’s not really something that’s relevant for an interest check.

It’s more important for people to know when your NOT available versus when you are. As people will automatically assume you have a life outside of this site.

What if we dont know the schedule exactly like days keep getting switched but you know one or three days you can

The point is to give clear expectations. which does seem to be your biggest overall issue.

It’s just getting across what you want in a clear and concise manner.

So for instance if you know that you are available to post every Monday then just say that. You don’t have to tell people you have real life obligations, that’s obvious.

If you want to only do a certain type of pairing (Ex. canon x oc or mxf) then just say that.

If you write two sentences on average then just say that.

I think you are trying to account for too many variables and it just makes things confusing.

I took a glimpse at your interest check. Some things that jumped at me that hasn't already been said:

Watch out for typos. I found a few and that can turn people off, because it feels sloppy. It's fine to have typos in chat and stuff though, especially on mobile. Just thought I'd mention it.

The other thing is the organization. I feel like you don't need a separate category for keys (or a thousand hearts to represent one thing), and I didn't understand why you had so many tabs for similar things. Personally, I would say stick with a introduction tab, a rules tab, a fandom + pairings tab and a plot tab.
