It felt strange to Harry to be returning to Kings Cross Station. After everything that happened, he never imagined that he would be coming back to finish out the school year. Now that he was standing there with his things on a trolley, however, he knew that it was too late to turn back. As he let out a deep sigh, he had made his way onto the train. He would be surprised if his other friends ended up coming to finish out their education at Hogwarts. Between Hermione going to spend time with her parents to restore their memories and Ron's family dealing with the loss of Fred, he was sure that they might end up skipping out on this year of school. As he went ahead and had a seat, in one of the empty compartments, however, he imagined that he would see them soon enough if they happened to change their minds.

Harry happened to be staring out the window, watching as other students were saying goodbye to their families when he spotted his girlfriend. A light smile came to his face as she sat down and he then started talking to her about what would possibly happen during the last year of school. He thought he heard rumors about a life skills class that everyone would be enrolled in, but he didn't know for sure. Either way he would be interested to see if the rumors happened to be true. During that time, more students had made their way onto the train. He imagined that they would be on their way to Hogwarts soon, but in that time, he hoped that one or two more of his friends would end up joining him and his girlfriend.

Draco hadn't intended to come back to Hogwarts for his final year. Not after the battle that took place there. As he stood at Kings Cross Station with his mother, however, he knew that he couldn't simply apparate back home. Instead, he bit her farewell before he got onto the train, quickly locating the one friend that he could stand behind around before the two of them started looking for a place to sit. It seemed that there was only one carriage that had open seats, but after seeing who happened to be sitting there, he tried to pull his friend away from the door, insisting that they keep trying.

"It'll be fine. Besides, unless you actually want to go and sit in the luggage cart, this is the only choice we have." Nikki told him, pulling him along with her as she knocked on Harry's compartment door before opening it slightly. "Do either of you mind if we sit here? Everywhere else is full." she said, watching as the other teen looked to his friend before looking towards her.

"Yes, go ahead." Harry said, giving Draco a weary glance as Nikki and Draco walked into the compartment. The blonde Slytherin had no idea how this was going to turn out, but as he sat down next to his friend across from the other teen and his girlfriend, he guessed that things could have ended up a lot worse.

Lucille Ruleaux, The Hogwarts Express​

Thin blond hair waving around her shoulders, Lucy was animatedly talking to her black-haired companion as students all around the train boarded and sat in their seats in various compartments. From the new classes to the new security measures, it seemed like the girl had a lot to catch both herself and her boyfriend up on. They hadn’t talked much over the summer, but they were still fairly warm towards one another.

Sighing softly as a lull appeared in the conversation, she leaned her head back into the soft blue material of the seats, her hair laying wildly behind her. “I hope this year goes well,” she muttered quietly, more to herself than anything. Her anxieties were still not calmed, even when Harry reassured her many times that the events of last year weren’t to happen again.

She sat in relative quietness with Harry until a soft knock happened upon the metal frame of the door, the small glass circle giving away their guests quickly. Gathering her hair in one hand and tossing it on her shoulder, Lucy lifted her head and stood straight as Draco and Nikki entered, just like her mother had taught her.

Giving the two students a smile in greeting, she crossed her ankles and played loosely with a bracelet tied around her wrist. “Good to see you two,” she said calmly, debating whether or not she ought to make conversation. "I wasn't sure who'd be returning this year and who wouldn't be.'' Her voice was soft and unsure as she spoke.

Her green eyes flickered between the two newcomers, blinking softly before focusing them back on the window as soft raindrops hit against the windows as they pulled out of King’s Cross. Ron still hadn't shown in the compartment, but she had seen him board the train and follow his sister to a compartment. She reassured herself that he would show. Even the boarding platform felt odd that morning, with parents hesitant to let their children go, and children hesitant to leave their parents.

But it would all be alright. She told herself that over and over again as the wheels began to screech to a slow, steady movement.
