Crono
The Guy
THEN.
Lincoln State Correctional Center in Ohio was a project carried out over a decade after the start-up of the prison boom in the 80s. When more than half of all rural counties added prison work to their available employment mix.
Since then the enormous compound of two separate, male and female, campuses (each with the maximum security and low security blocks) have given jobs to over a thousand of prison employees and housed nearly 5 thousands inmates. Only 4,120 on the day of the outbreak because one of the wings was undergoing complete renovation after a fire broke out, allegedly due to arson.
LSCC property was made of 18,000 acres of close-trimmed grass with prison and factory buildings forming a rectangular, built-up patch surrounded by double fencing with razor wire in the middle of nowhere. Crops, forests, rivers, lakes, and a "prison town" separated from big cities and urban infrastructure, located nearby a few small villages - a perfect fortress filled with supplies and...degenerates.
NOW.
The Samaritans leadership was established in the first weeks after the outbreak. The days prior were filled with blood and horror, not only because most people fell to the undead but due to the local fighting between two major groups from the maximum security male campus. One led by the ex-con who used to run the prison from the inside before the outbreak. Eventually the man won, the order was restored, and the opposition publicly executed. That was the day The Samaritans were born.
Now, the Lincoln Correctional Center is home to over two and a half hundred men and women. Children are kept separate, only allowed the visits of their parents, teachers, and the men in charge. The prison culture bled into the Samaritan attitudes, so violence (cage fighting, pit fighting, physical punishments, torture), sex (vulgar behavior, prostitution, incidents of rape), as well as pack hierarchy are evident in their daily life. Even though most current residents are just normal people who need food, shelter, and who wish to keep their dignity even if their freedom is restricted.
With loot getting scarce in the area and the rumor about a potential coup circling among the residents, tensions rise within the decision-makers group. It's only a matter of time before they have to expand to new territories, taking over new communities by force.
ROLES.
Note: Scavs/scouts are not the only people going out. Medics for obvious reasons, enforcers as security, and other members (ex. someone who knows a particular area tags along as a guide, or someone who needs a specific part to fix some machine tags along to help locate it) will also participate. Sometimes even the high ranking leaders will join, especially during new community raids.
Leader 1/1
This person is in charge of The Samaritans from the start. Previously they were a convict who run the maximum security prison from the inside, now they're the "tyrant" who makes the organization thrive...but at what cost.
Second-In-Command 1/1[suggest your own idea if you have a different one!] As the voice of the people, those who didn't originally follow the Leader, the Second-In-Command became the main advisor, widely respected. Rumor has it that many would prefer them to be the person in charge in place of the merciless Leader.
Right-Hand-Man 1/1
He's unofficially the Third-In-Command who joined the community just six months ago but earned the respect of the people and the trust of the leader early on. He's the guy that's sent to get things done outside of the base, their emissary.
Medics 1/3
These are the people with any kind of medical training or knowledge that can be used to help sick or injured. They could be someone who was the prison medic or someone who joined the community after the outbreak.
Scavengers/Scouts 1/4
These are the people who lead the scavenge runs, who go out into the world to find whatever they can to bring back to the base. They're valued among the community. They also have direct opportunity to steal or smuggle some goods to make personal profit without the knowledge of the men in charge. As long as they don't get caught…
Enforcers/Sentry 3/4
Even an organization with criminal origins has its police. Enforcers act as guards, pacifiers, or escorts for important people and shipments. Maybe they were correctional officers back in prison days? Or maybe they are power-high ex-prisoners playing cops. Or just normal people who have the right size, skill, or authority and notice an opportunity in such line of work.
Priviledged 0/2
Special kind of members who are either high ranked Samaritans and ex-prison gangs bosses and their loyal "soldiers", or the people who are close to them (family members, lovers). The high ranked Samaritans are usually supervising all crucial sectors like the food services, weaponry, other.
The minority of the Priviledged are not ex convicts but extremely valuable assets, awarded for their merit with a comfortable and secure life.
Members 2/~
The normal members of the group do any number of tasks/jobs to help the group with whatever skills they have (mechanic, cook, farmer, janitor, e.t.c.). Some feel used and oppressed, treated like slaves. They could be lower rank (or degraded) ex-convicts, random survivors rescued by Samaritans, or other communities' members who were forcefully assimilated into the faction. Or perhaps some of them were unlucky family members visiting their relatives in prison during the outbreak. Sky is the limit.
Loners/Others 2/~**
Loners are the people (or whole families) who aren't living with the group. They either don't know The Samaritans are out there or they hide and refuse to join, but will soon encounter them.
Others could be members of communities that are terrorised into working for The Samaritans as their vassals. They could act as diplomats or traders coming from their original community, or provide special services for The Samaritans.
**Note: Loners and Others can't make more than around 30% of the roleplay cast.
Note: As soon as someone is accepted their filled spot will be marked on the list of available roles. Amount of available spots might be subject to change if I see more demand for certain roles, but overall I am asking for some diversity.
