Living In Wastelands ♥ An Apocalyptic Roleplay

Masaru heard the scream assuming first, being he had been in an aisle next to the pharmacy in the convenience store, he instantly spun his head around and ran down the aisle, tripping over some of the cans he had knocked off the shelves while grabbing things in bulk to throw in his bag. He slipped and fell over one of the smaller cans, bringing immense pain to his leg. "God...tch dammit!" In pain he hit the ground, but he forced himself to get up and keep running until he made his way around the aisle until he could see Eve trying to pull out Liz, and in turn saw the huge beast of a creature that couldn't be called a zombie in Masaru's eyes, it was too huge and too...equipped for him to do so. "wh-...what the hell is that..." As it moved closer he changed his words "better yet, what part of hell did it come from" He pulled out his pistol and tried firing off a few shots at it, trying to get its full attention away from Eve. "Go! get out of here and back with the group!" He ran around both her and the monster until he was at the monsters side a few meters away, and kept firing off potshots at him, until he focused on one of the shots, hitting his head. "Why won't you die!" To no avail, he just kept coming, though at least he saw Masaru as more of a threat and changed over his aggro.

He decided it'd be best to take a longer route around and back to the group instead of a direct approach, he surely didn't feel like dying here, but being too direct would leave the chance of a lot of people dying. He rubbed the glass on in his helmet to get some of the fog off it as he made sure the distance between the monster and him never changed, looking back to make sure if he was still there, shooting once or twice at him if he ever turned his head looking at someone else. And whenever Masaru saw someone, he made sure to call out to them if they hadn't already heard Eve's loud scream from beforehand, to get the hell out of there. As he turned around again the monster was extremely closer and attempted swinging his ax at him. It was too far to hit Masaru, but the shock made him fall over himself, landing right on his own ass, sending a spike of pain throughout his hurt leg again, twice he's fallen and hurt his healing leg. "Not...today!" He was scooting back as fast as he could firing un-aimed shots at the beast, who was now moving faster than Masaru.

As he swung his ax down, Masaru rolled over onto his stomach and put all of his strength into his arms and legs, to keep moving across the ground, at this point he was at the right corner of the store and could see the entrance to his right.
"almost...there" he was running out of stamina, he'd been running and using his energy this whole time, now someone else needed a bit of help.

Troy Lawrence Colten

Down the street from the hardware store and pharmacy 1:05 pm

Troy was walking towards the hardware store. He stopped at the trucks to take a break. I pull out the letter to make sure that this is the right place. This is the right hardware store. Troys hopes were slowly rising. This means he's one step closer to the truth.

His thoughts were interrupted from a scream coming from the convenience store across the street. His first thought was to check it out. When he got to the door his heart skipped a few beats. He wasn't expecting to see that giant zombie. On the inside Troy was freaking out. But on the outside he kept his poker face on.

He looked at his surroundings to see what he can do. He noticed a familiar face trying to drag someone to safety. "I think that's Evermore." He thought to himself. He seen her around the wasteland. But he never actually talked to her. He saw a half of a body squirting blood everywhere. He can't tell who he was.

He saw somebody trying to get away from shooting everywhere but the zombie. "And I believe that's Masura." Now this situation looks bad. But he knows that he has to do something about. He walked over the center of the store. He was ten feet behind the creature.

He whistle to get his attention. The creature slowly turned around. It gave a low growl. It seemed mad to be interrupted. The room was silent. The tension was on the high. He looked over at Evermore. "Run." In a whisper like tone. As soon as he said that the monster started run towards him.

Troy ran towards the back of the store with the giant in toe. Troy started to run towards the monster. He slid under the creature. While the creature continued running towards the back of the building and it actually ran through the wall and out into the alley way behind the store.

He walked towards Masura and picked him up. "Nice to meet you." He carried him towards the front of the store. Then he walked back to Evermore. He helped her with Liz. He looked at Evermore. "Nice to meet you mam."

Cog had been in near the back of the store rummaging through old soda machines when the scream nearly caused him to jump out of his own boots. He turned around to find the whole store crawling in the weirdest looking zombies he had ever seen. Not the mention the giant one with an ax, a bloody ax with two bodies beneath it. There was a window nearby where a couple of the survivors were escaping no more than 30 ft. away and he began to make his way over. The big guy seemed focused on some of the others at the moment so that left him only having to deal with the unstoppable hordes of the mutated dead. He didn't bother with his nail gun, it wouldn't make much of a difference against their numbers. He stuck to the plan bashing the skull in of anything that got to close.

He got no more than 10 ft away until a large group of the infected cut him off from escape. In a way he was happy about this. For the past couple of days the memory of his supposed death had been haunting him, the image of him being bitten playing over and over again in his mind. Now his timid and calculating brain was forced to give control over the violent part of him that had grown into an animalistic blood-lust. If he had been paying attention he would have noticed his teeth growing sharper and hair creeping over more and more area on his arm. It was time to bite back.

The first undead to approach was taken out by a swift blow to the skull from Cog’s sledge. A second had its head caved in by an overhead swing. Another was merely knocked over by a large cleave and was quickly finished off by a bloody stomp from a steel toed boot. Cog was never much of a fighter, now it felt almost natural crushing through the hordes that approached him. Nothing about his fighting style was pretty or elegant. Pieces of bone and brain matter covered the walls and his shirt and he was soaked head to toe in blood by the time he had to run back to his original position.

“Come on you bastards!” He yelled in a berserker rage “I’m not even sweating yet, come get some more!” He was preparing to charge back into the fray when he noticed an escape. The dead had been parted like the red sea by the large one stomping through, opening a root towards a possible fire exit or at least a room safer than this one. No longer forced to fight his logical mind took control once more and he holstered his sledge on his back and made a bee line for the exit. He stopped only to quickly grab the messenger bag from the bloody mess that was the individual cut in half. He didn't know nor care to learn who it was, but there is no reason to waste perfectly good resources. With inhuman speed he dashed for the exit and found himself standing right behind the hulking mass with the ax. The thing was distracted fighting some other survivors seemed unaware of Cog's presence.

This gave him an idea. He brought out his loaded blunder buss and pointed directly at the back of the head of the creature. Hoping the light of day coming through the windows was enough the keep the zombies behind him at bay he carefully primed the weapon. He gave a loud and sharp whistle hoping to grab the things attention, turned his head away, and pulled the trigger. The large funnel of scrap metal, knives, forks, wood, nails, and a large amount of stone pellets was fired nearly point blank into the back of the giant. All sound was deafened by the thunder that was unleashed. Cog knew he was going to be somewhat deaf for the next day or two. A large amount of smoke had also been released, preventing him from seeing the results of his work. A large silhouette coming from the smoke told him he might not have succeeded.

Shard watched chaos ensue as the largest, ugliest zeke she'd laid eyes on smashed out from the store and into an alleyway.

She hesitated in her actions for a moment, pondering what to make of 'Mr. Meatcleaver' before seeing it step into some smoke towards one of the survivors. Taking action, Shard gave a masterful leap and planted a brutal kick into Mr. Meatcleaver's neck. While it would have snapped vertebrae in most zekes, this zeke just roared incoherently at her as she rolled to the ground in front of it.

Coming up quickly, Shard unleashed an arrow straight up into Mr. Meatcleaver's chin.

The hulking zeke dropped to its knees, still as stone.

Standing, Shard turned and began to walk calmly towards the survivor.

"Pfft, all bark, no bite. Mr. Meatcleaver was a bi-"

*CLANG*

Shard suddenly let out a yelp and dove to the side as Mr. Meatcleaver's axe came arcing through the air and smashing into a metal dumpster. As she rolled to her feet and turned to look, she saw that she hadn't gotten through to it's brain, just pinned it's mouth shut. And that it was barreling towards her and the survivor.

"Well... shit. Timetomove!" she blurted as she pistoned her feet against the stone, waving for the survivor to get out of the way as well.

Using one of her many emergency ropes, Shard began climbing back towards the roof.

.::Evermore Holloway::.

Evermore tugged on Liz as much as she could, though her body was trembling. She could deal with normal zombies just like any other monster, but these guys were something else. Poor Jo-Jo's body was sliced right down the middle, laying in a pool of blood. The pool was spreading over to Evermore, and in a frantic flurry, she continued to try her best to drag Liz away. "Wake up, Liz!" She shouted, and she could see Masaru from the corner of her eye. He was attempting to catch the beasts' attention, which immediately shrouded Evermore's conscience with guilt. No, no - don't play the sacrifice, she thought with dread as she watched him stumble, fall, and get injured. Her urge to cry was getting stronger and stronger, for she's never witnessed violence this bad. A man getting cut in half like that.. It was unreal. She already knew her life was like a sci-fi horror flick, but now it was becoming more and more terrifying. I don't believe this.. Why aren't any of you doing anything?! Eve screamed in her mind, though she could see John, and a few others, trying to fight off the other zombies trying to take a bite out of everyone else. "Die, you bastards!" John let out a battle cry, shooting left and right as he tried his best to protect everyone. Eve couldn't remember hearing so many gunshots at once before. They echoed all through the store, and she was tempted to just close her ears.

However, Eve knew she was stronger than this. Something this gruesome was bound to happen sooner or later; and, now that they were here, Eve knew that this wouldn't be their only meeting. With new-found determination, she continued to drag Liz. To her surprise, one of the guys--she hardly knew him, but she could recall his name; Troy, she believed--saved both her, the injured Masaru, and helped her carry Liz to safety. With a relieved and sincerely happy smile, she thanked the man.
"Thank you, Troy," she stated, giving him a small hug of gratitude. It was brief and sweet, and as soon as she let go, she took out her twin swords with deadly intent. These guys are going down, she thought as she took a deep breath in. She joined John fighting the mutated zombies, moving with more speed than the rest due to her hybrid nature. One, two, three~ She counted off as she stabbed each and every one through their heads and chests--sometimes both since she had two swords in hand. She was capturing their attention due to the skill she was showing, which she was grateful for. John appeared to be growing tired, and everyone else was either fleeing about in fear or frozen solid in fright. Though, it seemed like no matter how many of these mutants she killed, more and more were coming. Soon, even Mr. Hell Ax was back, despite all the shots that have been taken at him.

This guy ran through a wall, took shots to the head and the chest, and even got shot point-blank by Club's gun. A woman came through the smoke and even took him on, and Eve could see--with her insanely well vision--that she stuck arrows right through his head. She spoke cockily, and for a moment, Eve hoped that it was all over. However, she heard the loud clang of his ax to the floor, and the yelp coming from the girl who dodged it.
"You've got to be kidding me," Eve spoke under her breath. "What is that thing?" John questioned, and then had to fight off another mutated zombie. He got close to being scratched so many times, barely missing them each time, so Eve took over and killed it for him. "They just keep coming!" John cursed under his breath. He shot at the ones getting close to the people acting like they were defenseless. Aggravated, John shouted, "You have weapons! USE them!" His voice seemed to reach them, because now more and more people were getting into the fight. Perhaps they realized how useless they were being. "I don't think we can kill all of them," Eve began as she but away her swords and took out her daggers. She was quicker with them, and she could kill more with speed, so she decided they would be better. Moving with grace and agility, she stabbed the monsters one by one, narrowing them down so the rest could handle them. Still, no matter what she did, they kept coming.

Perhaps we should focus on the big guy--but these others, where the hell are they coming from? She thought, her frustration growing by the second. It was then that she decided to transform into her cat form, making her way past the beasts and jumping back into the pharmacy. She examined the area as quickly as she could, and she tried looking for that door she saw earlier. They first came out of that door.. Where is it? She wondered, and then she finally spotted it. It was like a gigantic trap door right in the corner of the pharmacy room, and it slid open every minute or so, letting more zombies out. They were all different from the ones she's seen before; having tentacle-like things growing out of their mouths, the pointy tips dripping with venom. Not only that, but there appeared to be some sort of liquid coming out of their mouths. As one of the zombies saw Jo-Jo's dead body, the liquid intensified, and they spouted out a stream of it unto him. His entire body began turning into mush, and Evermore had to hush her urge to vomit as she looked upon it. I-Is.. Is that.. What they do to tenderize their.. Meat? She shook her head as her ears turned backwards in displeasure. F-Focus, Eve, she assured herself. She knew where they were coming from, but she didn't see a switch to turn it off. Soon, they were going to have to flee. She knew that much, but another thing she realized was the medicine in the pharmacy. It wasn't any ordinary medicine.

She saw syringes labeled "0076" or "1024", but what caught her attention was the word "HYBRID".

Hybrid? A hybrid drug? She stared at in horror--she didn't even notice the zombie that spotted her. She was picked up from behind, and turned around in the zombies hand. She let out a displeased screech of a meow, and with a growl, she scratched at the zombies face. In shock, it dropped her, and she swiftly made her escape. Mr. Hell Ax was still prowling about, with arrows and bullets in his body--but still freakin' moving. Once she was out of the pharmacy, Eve returned to John's side. "These things spout venom; I'd try to stay at least four or five feet away from them!" She exclaimed, her voice loud enough for everyone to hear over the chaos. "Yeah, I think we should flee here soon," John began, but he noticed that they were all completely surrounded by these mutants.

Now, they were going to have to fight their way out.

Alice Navo

"It's not that I don't remember, I simply can't find myself thinking about it."

The shouts came to ring within Alice's ears, voices that rang with confusion and terror. What on earth had happened? They were calling for retreat, before even a gunshot sounded, which only brought more confusion to the situation. Alice quickly hooked her small travel bag onto her belt, steadying her right arm as she prepared to release a bolt at any given second. She sped for the end of the aisle, hoping that this was a simple false alarm. But with her heightened senses she could already smell blood within the air, it was a reassurance that everything was going terribly wrong. 'W-What is that?', her feet froze momentarily as she saw the large mutant of a zombie. A rather brave individual already taking position whilst firing rounds into it's head in order to pull it's attention away from Eve.

'Move it Alice!' The girl's mind shouted, simultaneously unlocking her feet. Seeing as individuals were already locking their sights on the monster, she would prioritize the groups along with some of the others. Alice quickly released her chained blade from it's buckle whilst double checking if the coast was clear behind. Seeing it so, the girl whipped out the weapon, allowing it's full length to take place before wrapping the chain part way up her arm for a tighter grip as well more control. From mid-range her weapon's proved dominate, piercing into the skulls of the mutants whilst quickly being retrieved with a hard yank on the chain. On occasion her the chain would ever loop around their necks, allowing the blade to completely sever the heads from the bodies. But the numbers did not end, they kept pushing her further, and further back. Before she could realize she was already back to the isles.

Alice knew her weapon would be hindered within the closing environment, but still she continued striking. Her fears quickly became truth when the blade hooked into one of the shelves during mid thrust, forcefully bringing her arm to a stop by the tightening chain. A light whine escaped her, pain overtaking her arm as she released the chain with her right hand before retrieving it with her left. With another quick yank at the proper angle, the blade would release, allowing her to whip the blade back towards her before catching the handle. 'This is stupid.. This is very stupid!' Her mind almost screamed as she fell back further into the aisle, looping the chain back onto her belt before grabbing her Biters. She could feel her swelling arm disagree with the weapon, but decided to ignore it.

Exhaling softly as if to tune out the world the girl lowered herself in preparation for the approaching zombies. Right arm carefully stretched behind her as if to protect it, whilst her left foot gently tapped the ground. A light click occurring as the bladed edge met the floor before her, a rather comforting sound that meant preparation for what is to come. When the time came, and the enemies breached the threshold, Alice came to greet the first , body twisting just before her target as a full rotation was made for her spinning kick in a rising motion. The blade easily sliced through the zombie's flesh, almost as if to stun the target for the next blow. Her other foot followed up with the strike, the continued twisting motion bringing the back of her other foot into it's head.

Alice's next motions were basically a series of charges, ripping through the mutants' flesh whilst attempting to regather with her group. For a few moments she believed herself to be alone within the hordes of zed, at least, if it were not for the heightened sound of gunshots. "These..... spout venom;... stay... away from them!" She barely even heard the voice through either her heightened state of adrenaline, or perhaps even the voice inside her heard screaming to survive. Knowing chunks of information may have been missing, she obeyed almost immediately, quickly diving through the group one last time before regrouping with her own, keeping Biters at the ready. With word from John, she would once again bind the Biters to her side in order to recover the chained blade, attempting to aid in the escape she would begin barraging the zombies between them and the doors.

John's words emanated nothing but greed as he explained their purpose of entering the convenience store. Each goal he wished to fulfill were nothing less than noble and solely for the better of their home, yet as Magus followed closely behind Eve into the store, he couldn't help but wonder if the chance on their party's life was worth the risk for a better living situation.

Like John, Magus was wholly surprised by the lack of locals. On any other raid, even the fewest zombies had become commonplace for their travels, yet in a store as large as this, the fact that it was entirely empty was unbelievably impossible and suspicious. As John declared the raid upon the store, the entire party seemed to have relaxed as they split into smaller groups which brought another wave of annoyance upon Magus in response to their stupidity.

"Don't get cocky, you idiots."

Magus spat his words toward anyone who could hear him before falling silent and simply existing in Eve's shadows once more. He had no interest in the supplies of the store as he had fulfilled his quota long before their arrival here. Rather, he choose to simply tag along as a guard for his acquaintance as she brought a small group toward the pharmaceuticals for a chance on its medicine. Instead of following the group inside, Magus remained outside inspecting the entirety of the dark store as his suspicions toward the lack of locals had yet to fade, but even before the sounds of screams would reach his ears, a grin came to his face as the dull chunk of a blade slicing through flesh explained all he needed to know.

Onlooking the massacre within, Magus instantly took interest in the peculiar breed of locals which existed within the pharmacy. While he was paralyzed in awe for their unique appearance, several others rushed to Eve's party side and began distracting the behemoth with an axe. Their screams of combat and terror broke his trance as he quickly began analyzing the situation for the best possible action. Magus had confidence in Eve's ability to fend for herself, especially with others; so rather than assisting himself, he chose to return to the floor which was beginning to become overrun with relatively normal locals. Although the sight of a rare mutation had been a treat for him to see, Magus was brimming with annoyance toward the group which had failed to heed his advice as he quit spinning his left chakram and swung it through the head of a zombie which had approached far to close. Throwing his right chakram at a local which crossed his path ahead, Magus grinned in response to the satisfying sound of ripping flesh as he bent down to retrieve the disk which had lodged itself in the zombie's head.

With the number of creatures spawning from the pharmacy, Magus predicted it wouldn't be long until their group, which had positioned themselves within the store, would become blocked from the store's entrance and their only viable escape. Pausing his movement in a desperate attempt to concoct a plan, Magus shook his head in failure as he resorted to stowing away his chakrams and switching to more conventional methods, the deer horn knives.

Come on Magus, this is a convenience store. There's bound to be something.

While weaving in between aisles and swiftly dispatching of zombies with heed of Eve's warning, a smile eventually came to Magus' face as he noticed a couple intact bottles of nail polish remover, and formed a disastrous plan in his head. In the case of a single chemical nail polish remover, the active ingredient was acetone, a chemical that could last years if the bottle remained stable; a chemical that was known for being highly flammable. Chuckling to himself, Magus retrieved one of his chakrams and began dousing its entirety with the chemical before returning to the front lines where the group was desperately attempting to break through the line of zombies blocking the entrance.

"I'd clear the area if I were you!"

Magus shouted his words toward the individuals fighting at melee range as he slowly began spinning the acetone doused disk on his left hand, held the two bottles of acetone in his right, and clenched a lit match in his teeth. After throwing both bottles toward the zombies, Magus quickly set the disk ablaze ignoring the sudden pain that ate at his hand. Magus was confident in his pinpoint accuracy to hit each target with a single disk, and as he sent the disk in flight, it passed through both bottles of acetone just above the zombies heads causing a burst of fire to rain below and catch several zombies within the vicinity on fire.

Fire was not an viable method in effectively dispatching zombies, as the flames had no effect on creatures which lacked the ability to the notice the pain and react accordingly. Rather, it was an element that would at most slow their moment while slowly burning away the rotting flesh until it eventually claimed its life. While seemingly inefficient, Magus, in fact, desired the zombies lack of reaction toward being on fire as they quickly became weapons against their own kind. As the flaming creatures crossed each others path, they would effectively set each other on fire along with anything flammable in the store. Magus' plan was nothing less than outright insane, yet as he stood chuckling in response to his masterpiece, one would quickly notice that he probably didn't care. Retraining his personal medical kit from within his coat, he began treating his burnt hand while addressing the party, in particular John.

"Store's probably not gonna make it, so best grab what ya want and hurry through our easy way out."

Replacing a dagger in his right hand, Magus gave the leader a quick nod before stepping forward and continuing his swift onslaught on the pitiful flaming bastards that had made his day all the more enjoyable.

The Wastelands - Bob's Convenience Store | ---- | Cautious

As usual, Mariya's warning was ignored by John and the others. John seemed quite confident with his abilities and the group followed along just like chicks following their mother but Mariya understood why. John was an idol, a leader, even was the son of a mighty leader and he had accomplished many things at his old age but he also had his flaws as a leader but Mariya wouldn't say anything to ruin his reputation, being the good friend she is, she also kept quiet and followed along the crowd but she still had her doubts.

Hearing as Magus made his remark to John, she mentally agreed with the man, feeling the John can be quite cocky and a little over his head, riskless and bossy but these were the traits for a good leader, in order to be a leader, you have to have the brains and the confidence to lead. John had some of those traits but some traits needed to change.

Keeping her guard up, Mariya separated from the group once they got into the store, going off to make her own adventure. Going over to one aisle, Mariya started to check for anything useful for her but before she got far, a scream could be heard from the far end of the store. The scream was a feminine voice and was a higher-pitched one, the only person she knew with a voice like that was Evermore.

Pulling her gun out, she quickly dashed over to where the scream came from and turned a corner to see a gruesome sight. Blood was splattered over the floor where a dead body of a fellow comrade had fallen, his guts spilled everywhere. The sight was too much for Mariya but she kept her eyes focused on the cause of it, a giant beast wielding a weapon,"What? T-that thing..." Mariya thought surprised to see that an infected so huge had such intelligence to understand how an axe work.

Turning her attention away from it, she noticed a few other infected behind it or so she thought were infected people until she got a better look at their form. The so called "infected" were now something else, their face filled with tentacles-like mouths and their body were deformed,"What... what creatures!" Mariya thought wanting to learn what had happened to them but then Eve cried out, warning them to stay away from the unknown venomous liquid that the infected made but it just tempted Mariya to study more.

Taking out a test tube, she quickly went over to the now mushed body and took sample of the mess, careful not to get any on her but then turned to see one of the deformed creatures blocking her way out of the mess,"Seems they're quick to learn." Mariya thought and got her gun ready to shoot them but then Magus came out of nowhere, warning the group to get out of the way as he seemed to got a plan.

With swish movement, Mariya threw off her coat off and threw it at the new hybrids of infected, their vision to aim being blocked by her coat. With that done, Mariya took a step back and jumped over a counter just in time before the liquid of venom could touch her. Crawling her way behind the counters, she ran towards the aisle she was before and quickly grabbed everything she needed, taking some snacks that were left on the shelves just to stock up on her food supplies.

Running out of the aisle, Mariya made her way over to the few survivors of the attack, she was ready to take action, putting on a gas mask to give her some protection. Following after the others, she quickly shot down the flaming zombies, her shots accurately blowing off their heads and a few limbs. Mariya kept her distant from them just to be on the safe side and not become like the poor mushed soul.

Having survived on her own for as long as she had, Shard knew a number of things. Things like always having plans B, C, D, E, F, G and so on, when it was time to bug out, and how to improvise.

Having just secured one of the composite cables to the trusses of the store, Shard aimed and let fly an arrow that had an unnecessarily wide set broadhead. The arrowhead was mean for fishing, but it worked just as well for securing itself into the rotting flesh of a zeke.

Darting through the trusses, Shard made her way to the other side of Mr. Meatcleaver and repeated the process. She had now just secured both of his arms and locked him in a metre and a half radius. Granted how long he would stay there was iff, as Mr. Meatcleaver was unlike any zeke she'd messed with before.

As Shard finished making sure the trusses and composite cables weren't going to break her attention turned to the fire that was slowly staring to consume everything in the store. Ignoring the smoke that was beginning to rise and fill her vision, Shard pulled out a flashing LED Emergency light, turned it on, and then duct taped it to an arrow and fired it into the wall over by the entrance and exit.

Leaping down to the ground, she spotted an orange traffic cone and used it as an impromptu bullhorn.

"We are leaving!"

Threading through the blazing zekes, Shard couldn't help but shudder as she heard the trusses where she secured the wires begin to groan under pressure.

On the plus side, it seemed like people were taking the hint and running for the exit.

Ceil had clambered into the back of the truck with the little tiger. Surprisingly, it didn't squirm much, until it smelled the food in the young woman's pack. The tiny beast seemed half starved, so she gave it the stale crackers from her bag. It still nosed around the fish backpack before settling contentedly in her back. After just a few minutes, they reached the store. Foxtrot stuck the tiger cub in her bag and it didn't resist. She figured it was too weak to struggle. It made her sad, but she hoped it could be saved. "Keep an eye on the little one for me, Jameson," she said to her stuffed bear.

-Mini time skip to make my post catch up.-

Foxtrot had just dumped canned sardines into her meowing pack as a booming clang resonated through the air. The woman jumped and the tiger cub in her pack hissed. There was yelling and screaming. Everything passed by Foxtrot in a blur as she grabbed as many sardine cans as she could fit into her pack without making the tiger uncomfortable. She pulled out Katie and stalked around the aisle she had been in. A zombie lurched at her and she sliced its head off cleanly. A few more found themselves in the arc of the blade and fell just as easily. Ceil sprinted the other direction as more zombies than she could handle began filling the aisle. She ran into the same problem on the other side.

After spewing a few choice words quite loudly, she began scaling the shelves. She was just out the of the monsters' reach. She began jumping from aisle to aisle, then stopped in her tracks when she spotted a zombie with tentacles coming out of her mouth. Foxtrot barely jumped from the shelf as the zombies who had been after her caused all the shelves to begin falling like dominoes. Suddenly, a flaming zombie fell at her feet. She deftly leapt over it without a second thought as she saw a giant axe slice through the air and barely miss her. With a screech she barely moved out of the way. Her foot caught on a severed body and she tumbled forward. The other half broke her fall and she screamed at the top of her lungs.

Foxtrot moved out of the way of the axe by getting to her feet and heading in the direction others were. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the sharp glint of a broadhead as it hit the giant zombie. She continued to run, even as a burning pillar fell at her feet. She brandished Katie and cut down a few zombies on her way out. She made it into the sunlight as a few others followed her. She fell to her knees, shaking. The images of the body and her falling into it wouldn't flee her mind. She subconsciously crossed herself, which she wouldn't realize was another piece of her missing past. She slowly moved the fish backpack from her back and opened it. The tiger cub was shaking fiercely when Foxtrot pulled it out. She clutched the young beast and Jameson to her chest as she began sobbing into them.

After firing shots off into the now bright and flesh-melting vibrant zombies, he realized he might as well save his ammo and follow the rest making their way out of the store, except in his eyes, there were too many for them, or atleast him to try and run past out through the front entrance, and how much sound they've been making was sure to attract them towards the front. He was critically trying to find a way out but he didn't exactly know of any staff exits out to where the load up the back. He shook his head around from place to place trying to spot some exit or...hole. It came to him that before, troy had maneuver the giant zombie to crash through the wall and into the alleyway behind the store, and he knew exactly where that was. He also knew it connected to the side roads and alleys around the store, so he could use them to get around back to the trucks theoretically or wherever the group moves, without endangering himself more than he needs to, being injured and not in the best ability to run through a hoard.

"I don't know who's leaving but I don't give a rats-ass, there's a hole in the back that probably has a lot less Zeds there than here, also i don't think its on damn fire yet. I don't know who's gonna follow my lead or not, but for the ones who aren't, if you guys get there first we're gonna need a bit of help! Because it probably means we're pinned down" He explains starting to back away slowly, before giving a little salute and running off with a few armed looters that came in on the trucks with them. He had to shoot a few zombies on the way out, dodging a bit of acid very narrowly, but he was right on there being more than a bit less, quickly making his way through the huge gap in the wall. As he jumped through the hole, he quickly looked to his right and left, both open alleys but zombies coming through both of them, normal and mutation-variant alike. At the suns position, he had no sunlight in the tight crawlspace between the buildings, so they were going all out, though a dark store wasn't that much better either. He signaled form them to follow him to the right, hoping the roads and alleys connected to the original road, or at least some hold-off point.

As he ran through the alley with the other members of their large group, he bashed multiple zombies heads in with the butt of his pistol, and shot whoever came close to him, while the others stabbed and bludgeoned as they pleased. He barely made if halfway through the alley before he lost one of the others, who had fell to being too cocky and tried to take on more than he could. Masaru looked back and gave merely less than a second of silence as soon as he could, but he had to keep moving; he blocked out all other emotions for the instinct to survive to take full throttle. He vaulted over garbage-can just to jump onto a string of dumpsters to run across, so he wouldn't stay on the bare ground, pushing whatever was in his way. The others took note and followed him, but had to pick up speed because the zombies were shambling to get on top, forming a wave of hands cling onto the closed dumpsters and climbed up, and were practically sprinting, if you could call a zombies top speed sprinting, to catch up to their prey. One zed had stood in the way of Masaru, right in front of an open dumpster, the only one in the large line for the convenience store...

He Raised his pistol and fired at the zombie, brushing it off with ease in his mind...

*click*

The last zombie in the line to fall lucky with him firing every bullet he had in his magazine, and to be lucky to be the one who survived his pistol. He quickly had to re-holster his gun while moving, and braced his arms, it was either tackle the zombie into the gap and recover instantly, as to jump over the gap himself, or fall right then and there, meters from the alley ways exit.

It sorta went to plan... he knocked the zombie over successfully, only to end up with a gnawing on the helmet he wore, but he didn't fully make the jump, his upper body and injured leg made it over, but his other leg ended up just short, and banged his whole leg into the inside of the dumpster bin. It wasn't serious damage, but it felt like he broke his leg in pain from the sheer force and moment he was in, and he had to pull himself up alone, the others either fell to the hoard or jumped passed already. He grit his teeth and stood up, pain in both legs now, he jumped off the final bin in the line and turned down the street, it did connect and he could meet up with the others, but he knew at this point running for the trucks would be a deathwish for him to try and attempt with all they've caused.

As soon as Cog realized the full frontal blast barely seemed to stutter the giant he packed up his weapon and made for the front door when he way out he caught a glimpse of another using sone chemical compounds to create fire to fight off dead in his areas. Cog instantly decided he like them for using their brain instead of brawn. Just as quickly returned his attention to the matter hand.

Cog gave no second thoughts as he bolted out the front door and made for the trucks. Be the time he got to them most of the dust had settled and some of the survivors were preparing to pull out. He dumped his loaded packs into the back of one of the trucks and jumped into the back with it. He pulled out his nail gun and supported any other survivors running for it by the shooting any zombies at their backs.

James saw the great axe, held by the massive zombie. It was easily twice the size of his head, all covered in spikes. It was like a porcupine was its first victim, and now, it was coming for all of the survivors, with James being next. It loomed in front of him, hesitating, for some reason.

James had never been so scared in his life.

Then, it was like he was almost detached from his body. His mind suddenly cleared, and, almost without conscious thought, he did that which he had done countless other times. He reached with his right hand to unclip his atlatl from its holster, and his left hand grasped one of the darts in his quiver. There was just enough space overhead as he clipped the dart in, leaned and reached back, and swung, putting his weight into the swing, and following through to give the shot the maximum power.

The dart, metal-tipped, with flights of artificial feathers, flew forwards, streaking straight for its target, the head of the axe zombie. It speared through its forehead, knocking it back with the force, the flights finally catching the dart two-thirds of the way into its head.

The great lumbering beast fell back, its brains well and truly destroyed. It had already had at least one bullet through there, and an arrow was worth at least two for its lethality to it.

It was dead.

(Is it ok that I killed it? I don't mind changing it if you like)

.::Evermore Holloway::.

Evermore's turquoise eyes widened as she gazed upon the chaos unfolding before her. Before she even knew it, the entire place was engulfed in flames. W-Who would-- She wondered, but then her eyes fell to Magus. At first, she was appalled by his idea, but then she realized the method to his madness. Oh, I get it! They'll catch each other on fire and slow down! She nodded excitedly in approval. Not to mention, they're starting to drop like flies! Eve couldn't help but smile at this. Her pink hair appeared a more orange-y hue due to the dancing flames around her, and her eyes now had specs of red and gold. She knew that now was the time to make her escape, but she couldn't help but want to watch the beautiful scene before her a little longer. The flames ignited the entire place with an eerie glow, and the fact that they were actually going to make it out of this alive was becoming more and more clear. Evermore almost wanted to cry at the relief, and she just wanted to throw her arms around Magus for his brilliant idea. "You're a genius!" She shouted over at him, and she noticed how he was treating the burn on his hand. With a suddenly saddened and worried expression, she wanted nothing more but to help him. However, she knew how well he was with the art of herbs, healing, and all that - therefore, she decided against it. She knew he was smart enough to take care of himself. In fact, if they had all just listened to him, they could have all avoided this situation entirely.

Though, they also would have never figured out that there were mutated zombies, either.

A blessing in disguise, perhaps?

Eve just grinned as she put away her blades and took out her double automatic pistols. She placed her fingers over the trigger and began shooting the array of bullets towards the zombies before her, and they all hit them in the head each time. She was quite the shot, as many of the people present were, so she showed no shame and continued on shooting. Once there were enough zombies away from the entrance, Eve noticed a beam of light being shot through the smoke and to the entrance before her.
"We are leaving!" She heard an unfamiliar voice say, so she guessed it was the rather headstrong girl who stuck arrows in Mr. Hell Ax earlier. With a smile, she nodded over to the girl and began looking around for Liz. She had woken up, which brought a relieved smile to Eve's face. Before she could make her way towards the girl, however, one of the flaming zombies spat out the poisonous liquid all over her torso. It was like.. She was melting. "L-.. Li--... Liz!" Evermore cried out as she tried running over towards her. It was John who stopped her, wrapping his arms around Eve and holding her back. "Let me go! Liz is--Liz is--!" Evermore cried out in frustration. She couldn't hold back the tears anymore. They began streaming down her face.

"Stop it, Eve--" John began.

"No, let me go! Liz is--She's dying!"

"There's nothing you can do to help her! Let's go!"

"No! No, I don't want to leave her--"

"EVERMORE. Let's go!"

Eve finally shut her mouth, and with a discouraged and aggravated push towards John, she ran towards the entrance and collapsed to the ground near Foxtrot. She was also sobbing. With a sympathetic expression, Evermore put a hand on her shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. With clenched teeth and pouting lips, Eve let out a sob of her own. First Jo-Jo.. Then Liz.. Why did this happen? Where did those things come from? That door.. Someone had to be activating it.. Eve thought, and going off of nothing but frustration, she was fixing to head back inside and figure out who the hell was behind all of this. John, again, stopped her at the doors however. "We can't reach the trucks, so I suggest we find another vehicle as soon as possible. We need to get the hell out of here," he stated. Some people were injured, others were too shaken up to walk long distances, so finding a new vehicle was the only logical decision to be made. John looked back at all of the people still inside. "Get the hell out of there! We're leaving!" He shouted, and also addressed the girl who had helped them out. "You can come with us, too!" He called out, and with that, his eyes began scanning the area for a vehicle large enough to hold them all. Oddly enough, there was one right on the other side of the store; a white coaster bus. With a grin, John began making his way towards it.

He stepped inside, and as soon as it hummed to life, he nodded and waved for everyone else to join him.

"We've got our ride!"

Eve wiped away her tears, still feeling tempted to go inside and check out that trap door. Masaru seemed to have a great idea, but John prevented her from joining. She was one of the first people to enter the Wastelands, so she, John, and the others were close like family. He was like that protective big brother to her, and though she loved that side of him most of the time, now it just broke her heart. With pursed lips, she waited for everyone else, and she watched as someone--she believed his name was James--killed Mr. Hell Ax. With a relieved smile, she nodded over towards him in approval.
"Great job," she spoke under her breath, "It's about time that bastard went down." Evermore eventually decided to follow alongside John with everyone else, being that anymore risks were completely unnecessary. However, Eve wanted to wait at the doors until Magus, Mariya, that girl who shot the arrows, and everyone else to come outside before she went to the bus. No way in hell was she leaving anyone else behind.

"Come on, guys!"

The Wastelands - Bob's Convenience Store | ---- | Cautious

Mariya was busy taking on the creatures that she didn't notice that another one of their people have fallen. Hearing the cries of Eve's once more made Mariya turn to see the sight, Liz, their fellow comrade and was good mate of Mariya, was now melting right in front of her,"Oh my-" Mariya couldn't speak and she couldn't get herself being emotional now like Eve. Noticing one of the infected getting ready to turn her into what happened to Liz and Jo-Jo.

Raising her gun up, she shot the tentacle beast in the mouth, the bullet shooting out of its' throat,"Just die piece of-!" Mariya stated in a dark tone, her eyes showing hatred and pain in them. This had happened many times to Mariya but seeing a person die in front of her, she never got used to it. Jumping out of sight and going over to where Eve and John had ran off to. She came to Eve's side and placed a hand on her shoulder,"Sorry." Was all Mariya could say to her walk over to the truck.

She wasn't sure if she could do anything for Eve but she knew all she could do was be there for the poor hybrid girl. Putting her luggage in the truck, she turned to be able to see James, the other hybrid male beat the Axe-wielding beast down. Seeing the beast die was a great thing but it couldn't bring Liz or Jo-Jo back, taking the test tube out from her pocket, she frowned and gripped at the tube tightly,"I'll find a way, a reason what these things are." Mariya vowed, determine to find out what made the infected become like this and a way to protect her team from them.

With one last glance at Liz's goo of nothing, Mariya turned away and told herself to move on. Taking a deep breath and changing her thoughts to focus now on finding a way and Tsu's being. Worried that her poor pup must be worry sick for her, sitting in the truck all alone without her being there,"Don't worry Tsu, I'll be there soon." Mariya spoke to herself, getting onto the truck and awaiting for the others to get on.

Having inhaled a decent amount of smoke from her brief foray in the trusses of the building, and not being too eager to get too terribly close to any more zekes, Shard made her way out of the building as quickly as possible, having given up on trying to help out any more than she already had.

Getting outside, Shard saw a bus pull up and realised that it was the ride out for the group. Looking back at the store, she saw that the flaming zekes were also setting fire to the nearby stores she had been using all this time. That coupled with the fact that she didn't know if there were any more of the freak zekes scampering around in underground compartments was all the reason Shard had to make a beeline for the bus.

Rushing over, Shard looked inside for a moment and saw a man waiting before checking the ceiling of the vehicle. With a smile she hopped onto the hood, and then the roof, before pulling the emergency roof hatch open and attaching a safety line just in case of any tight turns. After that she pulled an arrow, swapped the broad head for an extra sharp fieldpoint and attached another high tension wire to the arrow before she began picking off any zeke she saw come near, using the tension wire to jerk out and reel her arrow back in.

Now all there was to do was hold of the zekes and zeke freaks until everyone got back. That and hope the big guy didn't get loose anytime soon, unless someone killed him while she made her exit.

'Here's to hoping that this plan works out better than their last one. Oh, and I think I'm, going to slug that Magus punk. Seriously, fire? While he was inside surrounded. Twit.'

Masaru, just rounding the corner of the alley saw the others heading towards a vehicle he had noticed on the side but not particularly cared about, but seems the other sees it as their ride out of here. He picked up his pace once he now knew it wasn't going to be a idiotic death in front of a store running for a truck, and tripping from pain and getting scavenged, but rather if he kept moving just a little bit longer he'd be saved. Or at least not die alone if worst comes to worst. He took out his pistol as he made a limp-like running to the truck, and reloaded it, firing at some zombies that were chasing him that just left the alley. "Stay the hell away from me you freaks, I've had enough shit to deal with already, I'm not going to die here, nor any time soon!" He ended up pretty much crashing into the side of the vehicle from not looking, falling on his rear; but didn't care as he was busy fending off more of the creatures that were dripping out of the alley, slowly dwindling, just like his ammo. "Thanks for waiting guys" He sighed with fatigue and accomplishment.

"I think this should be it for today don't you think? At this rate my hearts going to stop from excitement." He got up and entered the bus, sitting in a seat in the back, breathing heavy and clutching his legs. "It hurts...so bad" He thought to himself, though if anyone could see him they'd guess what he could be thinking and probably be correct with it anyways. The adrenaline that was flowing through him quickly dissipated away and the pain just got worse and worse, it was nearly what he felt at the crash of his helicopter at this point. He forced himself to lay back and take a deep breath to get rid of some of the pain, affecting a little, but not an amount that would please him nor anyone that has to deal with the physical pain of surviving multiple scenarios where they should end up dead. He rested his helmet-covered head against a window of the bust and watched the others scutter around trying to kill the beasts and get to the bus. "I'm gonna enjoy that bed more than ever tonight..."

Still shaking, James watched, as, slowly, the enormous Zombie toppled over backwards, the razor dart having sliced through its head, finally finishing it off, stopping its destructive rampage with that enormous axe.

Suddenly, after having stood there, watching it dead for more than ten seconds, he snapped back into the here and now. Clipping his atlatl back onto his belt, he ran back towards where everyone else had run, out of the burning convenience store. Outside, he found everyone was getting into an oddly clean-looking, large white bus. he decided to follow suit, and got into one of the seats nearer the back. Some sense told him that further back was the safes place to be.

Eve's light praise was hardly enough to dispel Magus' foul mood as he continued his focus toward the opening of a path that his fiery mayhem gave way toward. The excitement resulting from adrenaline had begun to wear off, and the pain of his injuries coupled with the fatigue of his existence was beginning to limit his current actions at hand.

"Where's a drink when ya need one."

Magus muttered his words with a sigh as he weaved in between the tendrils of flame and proceeded to halfway behead the two nearest locals from a dagger in each hand. Thanks to the thickness of his outfit, hardly any concern was given toward the element he had created, but at the same time, he couldn't help but give some concern toward those lacking protection against its bite.

The light of a clear path toward the outside brought a satisfied smile to Magus' face, but it was the pained cries of Eve that crushed the short lived mood of joy. Not only was one member of their party lost, it seemed yet another had followed to give the first company to the afterlife. As much as he desired to give his condolences to his acquaintance, her desperate attempts to remain by Liz' side nearly made him furiously return to drag her existence away from the bonfire of locals. Thankfully, Magus could for once agree with John's stubborn words as he forced sense into the hybrid girl's head, and soon brought the group's attention toward the location of an emergency ride away from the city.

Seeing Eve at the store entrance awaiting his arrival among the remaining stragglers, Magus gave her a small smile as he approached her self while rummaging through an inner pocket of his coat. Once again the girl had a glowing smile of relief on her face, but Magus understood the pain she truly felt from the loss of two members from her team. Leaving a small rose flavored hard candy in her hand, Magus gave Eve a gentle pet on her head before departing toward the truck with a nod. Magus was not one to show emotions to others, but he felt she was one to understand the nature of his methods toward others.

Seating himself in the front of the bus, Magus once again cracked a window, and with the pipe in his mouth, continued his smoke from before without regard for the others. He was too fatigued to care about the comfort of the group, and similarly he figured they would hardly be in a condition to voice their complaints.

((I'm going to have us take off back to the Wastelands. All people who aren't on the bus, just go ahead and jump yourself on and recap in your next post. I'm alright with that.))

.::Evermore Holloway::.

Evermore smiled a small, delicate smile as everyone began leaving the store and making their way towards the bus. She could see a few people having trouble in the alleyway, as well as with the monsters coming back towards the doors, so she took out her gun and began shooting at them. That's for Jo-Jo, and that's for Liz. She thought as each of the one's she shot went down. Now, those stuck had a clear path, and more and more people began making their way towards the bus. With a relieved sigh, she was grateful that the casualties were kept to a minimum. She almost wanted to hate on John for even bringing them there, but she also realized that, should they not have paid Bob's Convenience Store a visit, they would have never met these mutants. Ignorance may have been considered bliss in the olden days, but now it can lead you to your death. So, though Eve was extremely frustrated over Jo-Jo and Liz and any others who perished, she was glad that they knew what they were up against.

With a sigh, Eve waited for everyone to leave the store. Her eyes brightened a little as they set on Magus, for she was extremely glad he was alright. There were still traces of tears in her eyes as she looked up at him, though she was able to hold them back from streaming down her face now. Before she could say anything to him, she watched as he rummaged through his pockets.
What's he looking for? She wondered, and then her turquoise eyes set on a small rose-flavored candy. With a giggle, Eve wiped at her eyes and took the gift humbly. How did he know I liked sweets? She wondered, and began questioning internally on whether he had a sweet tooth, as well. "I'm glad you're okay," she spoke as he patted her head, and she followed in his footsteps as he walked back to the truck. With that, they joined everyone else there.

Eve took her seat in the booth next to where Magus placed himself in the front of the bus. She preferred being close to the door, should they have to make a great escape.
"What now, John?" Evermore asked as John began driving off. With an exasperated sigh, John shook his head.

"Well, we're going to return to the Wastelands for starters," he began solemnly, "And we're going to tell everyone exactly what happened. They need to know that there are mutants, for this could effect our living situations. If there's another one of those big guys out there, I can only imagine.." He trailed off, though Eve was sure what he and everyone else was thinking.

"What he'd be like at night," she finished his thoughts, which resulted in him looking back at her with a sad, sad smile.

"Exactly."

About ten minutes ahead of the white coaster bus, a tall, lone figure walked quietly by the side of the road. His forlorn shuffle was not even strong enough to kick up dust behind him, though plenty of fine red powder had found its way inside of his trainers (which were, at this point, only fastened to his tired feet by a few threads and a miracle). Both his faded green pants and soft white tank were caked with dirt and blood, the latter of which was presently seeping out of several half-healed gashes on the boy's arms and stomach. He did not seem to notice the wounds, however, and even if he did they surely did not bother him; his gaze was fixed downward, on the ground before him, though there was nothing to see but dirt and the occasional weed. Bright green hues were lost in an involuntary squint, for at some point or another he had contracted a nasty shiner- the road was a dark smudge on his field of vision, the sky a blinding blue umbrella above. It was, therefore, no surprise that the youth had chosen to stare at the dirt, which was at least a neutral reddish color and did not irritate his already-inflamed eye.

And so Jazz Black walked, as he had been walking for several hours now, without much of a purpose but for a general southward-direction. He was very alone and very tired, too exhausted to even lift his nail-studded baseball bat off of the ground. It dragged behind him like a dangerous tail, creating a winding trail in the dirt that marked his pathetic progress from point A to a hopeful point B. Where was that point B? Jazz did not know. He did not even think about it. Every thought that crossed his mind was silly, and fleeting- and to add to the confusion, he was unable to stop them from coming out of his mouth.

"The shoes were red, maybe? Theo, hey Theo, come inside 'cause mom needs help with the asparagus. Wait." The teen stopped suddenly, looked around, then continued walking as if nothing had happened. "Well it was a nice thought, you a$$hole. Napoleon couldn'ta thought of a better .... yes? But God, Theo, it's hot. Did you pack the sandals, cause ... well I can't even begin to explain why that's a stupid-a$$ question. Look around man, I don't see your bike anywhere. Got better fish to fry." Jazz lapsed into silence, closing his eyes for a few seconds before snapping them open once more; but the sudden movement hurt, and he cringed a little from the pain. "Hey buddy, watch it. Goggles don't come cheap, even if they say so. And ..."

Rat-a-tat-tat

The muddled sentence trailed off as the hybrid paused in his tracks once more, this time turning in a half-circle to face the road behind him. Sand-colored ears swiveled precisely to catch the sound, which was already beginning to fade from Jazz's short-term memory. What had he been looking at, again? ... NO. There. A pitter-patter sound came from somewhere to the north, causing the hairs on the teen's neck to stand on end. Though in his present state Jazz did not consciously recognize the sound of gunfire, bad memories began to surface in his already-troubled mind. ... Loud BANGS, screaming, the acrid smell of smoke and the orange glow of fire ... It was all too much, too soon, and Jazz needed to get away. He turned his back on the strange noises and increased his gait to a rough shamble, even if his shoes made the task more difficult than should have been necessary. For a few minutes Jazz maintained this admirable pace, until he forgot about the gunshots and resumed a slow, near-purposeless shuffle.

Several minutes later, a deep, mechanic rumbling reached the hybrid's ears, still a good five minutes off. Although Jazz definitely heard it, something within his subconscious decided not to listen- and so he meandered on, oblivious to the world. He was half a zombie already.

-sorry this is short >.< I'm not sure what to post ;-;-

Mariya overheard them as the spoke of how the beast would seem like if it was at night, shivering at the thought of them at night,"How were they able to become mutants? Who could have done it? What is happening?" These questions filled Mariya's head but then she got up and tapped John's shoulder, wary of his decision to leave back to the Wastelands,"We're gonna go back to fetch the stuff right?" Mariya asked, wanting to confirmed that they were gonna go back to get the supplies they got from the other shop.

She was worried of Tsu, not wanting to leave her only pal behind and the thought of him all alone in that truck made her heart sink. On the outside she was perfectly fine but inside, her heart was dying and her mind jumbled and spinning everywhere. She was a complete mess, after what happened earlier, she couldn't get herself straight anymore, wanting to just leave this place so she could get Tsu and go to her room to see what the substance she got was all about.

The tube safely tucked away in her pocket and tightly shut with the lid or it wouldn't lid on anyone or even her.

Masaru closed his eyes within his gas mask, breathing out steam through the filters, with his head already against the window, he decided to try and already sleep the way back to the camp, from the run and the excitement left him quite fatigued. "I really hope what we gathered and have on us is enough to keep the place settled for hopefully atleast a week, because i need some downtime... if we have cases like that again, I'm going to die from an adrenaline overdose, or atleast a heart attack from being scared shitless." After a few minutes he accomplished his goals of falling asleep, but against his will, he was forced upon with nightmares.

All he could dream about was the crash, the one that's been haunting him the whole time, and it surely would've already passed if it weren't for his pained leg aching with every step from the impaled rebar that he landed on, and now the other pain in his other leg really is making him crippled and just refueling his mind with the memories of seeing his comrades fly out of the VTOL as they were being attacked by a zombie of their own, it was such a hectic time for everything to happen the way it did, and as they crashed into the building he knew he would be dead, but only felt the pain of death and torture but didn't reach the light that his comrades had seen. He doesn't know if he died there and is living on in purgatory or if he's actually alive kept by some silly game of fate. Yet he knows he has to see it through to the end, no matter the case. Throughout his nightmarish memories, he stayed asleep throughout the entire ride.

Trusting her knotwork to keep her secure, Shard laid across the roof of the rumbling bus, watching the sky above her idly.

Overall, she was unsure of how to take this turn of events.

She'd spent so much time avoiding people in general, and so much more hunting down or ambushing raiders. Now here was a group that seemed to mean well, even if their actions had led to the destruction of the roofs she had called home. Reaching into her bag, Shard removed a coconut flavoured fruit bar and started to chew on it, letting her teeth wear away at the stale treat.

Wherever they got to, she was going to have to find a way to fit in, or she would have to leave. She wasn't overly sure what would happen yet. Shard let the hum of the engine fill her mind as she awaited either word from the survivors in the inside of the bus, or for the bus to come to a stop to let her off somewhere.

.::Evermore Holloway::.

Evermore let out a sigh as the conversation between her and John dropped. Everyone was so shaken up, and too many were injured, so he decided not to go back for the supplies people left out in the trucks. Most of it was excess anyways, for everyone should have bags like Eve did and should have kept their main items in there, but Eve still wished they could have gone back. With pursed lips, Eve just looked out the window as John drove. It was then that she realized that there was someone on the side of the road, and he had ears on the top of his head. "It's another hybrid," she spoke under her breath, and reached over to the driver's seat to tap John on the shoulder. "Stop the bus! I see a hybrid!" She stated, looking over at the helpless-looking being on the side of the road. Once John came to a stop, Eve hopped off the bus and looked over at him with shimmering eyes.

It was always a blessing to stumble upon another hybrid in the world.

She looked upon his attire, which was covered in crimson and muck.
"Are you alright?" Eve asked, approaching him politely. She didn't want to get too close just in case he was more on the aggressive side, which wasn't impossible, but he seemed more.. Saddened than anything else. She guessed that he, too, had lost someone dear to him. Whether it was recent or not, it doesn't change the fact that the pain remains. Evermore would probably be scarred from the scene just now for a long while, as well. So, with an understanding and compassionate expression, Eve held out her hand for the boy to take. "I'm Evermore Holloway," she introduced herself, "And I'm with a group of people who live in a place called The Wastelands." She stated, her voice as sweet as honey, and as warm as the sun above.

"Would you like to come with us? We're all heading back there now. There's enough room on the bus for you."
