Masaru heard the scream assuming first, being he had been in an aisle next to the pharmacy in the convenience store, he instantly spun his head around and ran down the aisle, tripping over some of the cans he had knocked off the shelves while grabbing things in bulk to throw in his bag. He slipped and fell over one of the smaller cans, bringing immense pain to his leg. "God...tch dammit!" In pain he hit the ground, but he forced himself to get up and keep running until he made his way around the aisle until he could see Eve trying to pull out Liz, and in turn saw the huge beast of a creature that couldn't be called a zombie in Masaru's eyes, it was too huge and too...equipped for him to do so. "wh-...what the hell is that..." As it moved closer he changed his words "better yet, what part of hell did it come from" He pulled out his pistol and tried firing off a few shots at it, trying to get its full attention away from Eve. "Go! get out of here and back with the group!" He ran around both her and the monster until he was at the monsters side a few meters away, and kept firing off potshots at him, until he focused on one of the shots, hitting his head. "Why won't you die!" To no avail, he just kept coming, though at least he saw Masaru as more of a threat and changed over his aggro.
He decided it'd be best to take a longer route around and back to the group instead of a direct approach, he surely didn't feel like dying here, but being too direct would leave the chance of a lot of people dying. He rubbed the glass on in his helmet to get some of the fog off it as he made sure the distance between the monster and him never changed, looking back to make sure if he was still there, shooting once or twice at him if he ever turned his head looking at someone else. And whenever Masaru saw someone, he made sure to call out to them if they hadn't already heard Eve's loud scream from beforehand, to get the hell out of there. As he turned around again the monster was extremely closer and attempted swinging his ax at him. It was too far to hit Masaru, but the shock made him fall over himself, landing right on his own ass, sending a spike of pain throughout his hurt leg again, twice he's fallen and hurt his healing leg. "Not...today!" He was scooting back as fast as he could firing un-aimed shots at the beast, who was now moving faster than Masaru.
As he swung his ax down, Masaru rolled over onto his stomach and put all of his strength into his arms and legs, to keep moving across the ground, at this point he was at the right corner of the store and could see the entrance to his right. "almost...there" he was running out of stamina, he'd been running and using his energy this whole time, now someone else needed a bit of help.
