Rawrz! Take your medicine, Oh Creative Canine!

And have fun writing in Amaranth! =)

Amaranth be like:
Neverending Story Wink GIF

College and stuff also got me very slow on the posts 3_3
I second getting combat jumpstarted. Currently I think it's currently NPC's and the enemy's turn at the moment

I'm sorry about this unexpected break :c

I realize the holidays are upon us so you will have better things to do, but nonetheless I will be updating and polishing and just... trying to busy myself with Amaranth again, even if it means rewriting old lore threads that no one's likely to give much attention to anyway - because I've come to a conclusion that unless I grip this thing the way I used to grip it (versus casually updating things when I feel like it), it's not going to work lol.

You guys still here? We got a shot at coming back to this full steam? *woof*

Kaerri Kaerri Parrot Parfait Parrot Parfait (tags just in case!)

I'm here! ^33^ Been falling off all kinds of things myself lately, but trying to get back into the groove again, holidays or no. So I'm here again, and ready to keep trying.

That's good. Sadly like I might have mentioned before, my potential recruit disappeared from the site so I will have to see if I can persuade someone else I know to join... At this point in the game I'd prefer if any new players were vouched for somehow (I don't mean like incredibly high recommendations but I'd rather not go through any more character developments only for people to disappear soon after or end up delivering the bare minimum in terms of writing quality).

I'm not sure I know anyone like that that I haven't already asked (Jack Elarithon being the last person, he gave up but he was never really the forum RP type, I kinda made him try it out lol). If either of you know anyone who might be interested I won't second guess your recommendations! *woof*

Happy New Year! 🥂 🎉 🎊 🎆

Wow *woof* Happy New Year! Took me a couple days to recover from that lol, but on the plus side I've updated the game (and will be keeping a close eye on it!).

We haven't done much combat in a while, and I also realized that I never actually came up with a de facto format of keeping track of the numbers - like energy and magic expenditure, stuff like that. Originally, I was going to just edit the changes into each character's sheet, but ended up just using a notepad file instead because it was easier (big surprise lol). However, that does mean the players lose track of their actions unless they do the same, so for the time being I am just going to casually keep a record right here in the OOC during combat encounters. Please let me know if there are any improvements I can make! *woof*

Surprisingly, this fight hasn't actually lasted long at at all - it's technically been under a minute, the dragon made three attacks, and the Chosen haven't really spent any Vigor (Energy) aside from Maggie and Ingvar, so I'm leaving Carn's Vigor at full. Confounded me there Parrot Parfait Parrot Parfait with taking a Retreat stance earlier but writing it like Armored, I guess I've poorly worded it lol because technically both things are possible at the same time lol :D So the difference of whether it was 1 or 2 Vigor expended would make Carn's current Vigor 75 or 74, but it's not that important so no worries. I may have to rethink my logic on the Stances (they were basically written to assume a swordfight/duel, so atm these are some special circumstances).

As for you Kaerri Kaerri , I realize I've actually stated that maintaining a Great Divine Shield costs 5 Vigor per turn (you had it up for 2 turns now, so -10, pending what you decide to do next), but I only said "+X Vigor" per attack defended against - I realize that's kinda vague, in the interest of simplicity I'm not going to try to hardcode anything, but I'm thinking in terms of light/medium/heavy damage, corresponding to 5/10/15 with some room to interpret for case-by-case. But just so you know what's reasonable to expect, most damage dealt by normal enemies would be light/5 going up to medium/10 in case they have say, enchanted/special weapons or themselves are large enemies, and it would really take some seriously powerful stuff to require 15 or even 20 pts to block. In this case, dragonfire cost 2x10 Vigor to deflect, and the tail strike was a 5.

When deciding on these numbers, which btw can also be in betweeen, so 3s or 7s for example, I generally try to imagine how things might realistically go, as well as how powerful stuff is or how much power enemies place into their attacks. So perhaps this dragon could strike harder with its tail, resulting in a 7 point cost next time, or have some magically enhanced breath attack that drains more than 10 Vigor. But I try to keep it realistic so that it boils down to several dragon attacks, but she could also stand there for quite a while bouncing sword attacks. But don't forget that simply channeling the shield is a meaningful drain with the 5 Vigor/turn.

Another note, I do need to flesh out the Force Magic since Carn is using it (I had basically shelved it during the time only NPCs had it), but since it's so open ended perhaps there's no need to write actual spells for it. It can follow similar logic in terms of points and force applied. In this case, I've lowered Carn's Arcana by 5 to account for him applying enough Force Magic to be able to send a heavy cart rolling for a few yards. From there, I'm thinking that some general fighting use probably would call for 2-3 pts worth of force, making the difference between breaking a door's lock versus blowing the whole door off the hinges ^^

The dragon has attacked with both dragonfire and tail attacks, and apart from Ingvar's Lightning Spear which did some damage, remains mostly unharmed and very angry.

The fellowship is broken up into three groups: Dina, Violet, and Ingvar are by the north wall, focused on defending themselves. Gorski and Varys are providing some distraction from the south by the breached gates. Everyone else is right in the middle of the courtyard.

The fight has gone on for a couple intensive minutes...

NOTE: Faron's golem, which is in its 2nd stage of forming, would be just above Maggie/Laurolf/Faron on the map, just outside the shield (technically partially inside but we'll consider it outside, especially with the golem being 12ft tall lol).

Ah, is the greater divine barrier impassable, or can objects pass through one way but not the other?

I think "friendly fire" can go out of it? The description says it blocks damage, but doesn't mention blocking what the protected people do. But in any case it's down now -- Maggie dropped it to try to shield another target.

Yeah it's never come up so far but Kaerri is right. It keeps things out, not in *woof*

Also, that's a pretty good move by Carn! Didn't expect that, that's actually made quite an impact (no pun intended~)

Apologies, I thought I'd posted earlier this week, but obviously not. Apologies also for the short post, but much of what she might do depends on what she sees when she makes it outside.

Sorry guys, last week sort of got away from me 😅 I'll be updating in a bit.

Parrot Parfait Parrot Parfait in case it wasn't clear enough from my last post, the dragon definitely didn't scramble and get over the wall as you put it - it most certainly, unintentionally, and I daresay painfully crashed into the crenelation (which is the top part of the wall, aka the battlement), taking quite a chunk along with it, before it presumably fell on the ground just outside the perimeter.

oop, a bad misread on my part. I will fix my post in the near future (probably by today)

we be rollin' soon😎

I've had some irl stuff going on but, I swear I didn't think this long had passed... Hope you two are still around 😅 *whine*

If Maggie and Carn disappear, I fear poor Varys will absolutely think he's gone insane :closed eyes open smile:

Wolf Rawrrr Wolf Rawrrr Heya Your Wolfness!

It may please you to know that our Parrot of Parfait (sweet, light, and high-flying one that he is) just posted this very recently! =)

May this mean more game time for all involved in Amaranth! =)

Same. >.> Where did the past month go? I didn't log onto the site for "a few days" that turned into "a couple weeks" and suddenly it's mid-April...

I am still here, when I log in at least. 😅
