Realistic or Modern [Modern-Fantasy] Fracture

Roleplay Type(s)
Beneath the realm of mortals, just barely avoiding the main stream that is typical human living, there is the realm of the supernatural. This realm is split into three categories: the Divine, the Infernal, and the Mythical. For centuries, these realms have been in an uneasy peace with each other. That was, until modern day. For unknown reasons, the three leaders of these factions have gone missing. No one knows how, where they went, or the circumstances surrounding their disappearance. The Divine blame the Infernal. The Infernal blame the Divine. The Mythical blame both the Divine and the Infernal. Anyone who steps up to claim the roles that were vacated also mysteriously disappear without a trace. Peace shattered, the three factions now go to war with each other, but must also simultaneously avoid catching the eyes of human media and letting their secrets slip to the humans, or all three factions will face repercussions.

This role play will take place in a fictional coastal Southern California town that has yet to be named. It has all the normal amenities of a normal coast town, including but not limited to many parks and hiking trails, miles of beaches and seaside cliffs, ranches, shops, diners...

The catch of this role play is that while the fighting between the three factions is a major plot point, the supernatural beings also have to fit into human society, meaning that one of the Mythical might work at the local bookstore, while a Divine might be part timing as a life guard, and an Infernal works for the post office during the day. Under the dark cover of the night, however, the many members of the factions are free to hold their battles, but preferably not in the middle of main street or anywhere else where a wandering eye might spot them.

The aforementioned repercussions and consequences of exposing this underground world to the humans is, of course, death to the individuals who exposed the whole. Regardless, it seems that some humans have somehow learned of the non-humans, and have decided to make a stand against all three of them to protect their society from the ravages of the warring factions. They've labeled themselves as the Mortals, and while they aren't terribly well informed nor are they well armed, they do have the numbers advantage.

There is a second catch to this role play. The leaders of the factions, God, Satan, and the Phoenix, aren't just gone. They've gone into hiding, not even allowing those that follow them to know. The role of leaders will be assigned at random to characters with impressive character sheets. Being that these three are the most powerful beings in all of known existence, they can take on whatever form they choose, be it Mortal, Infernal, Divine, or Mythical, so literally any type of character is eligible for a leader role. If your character is chosen for a leader role, I will PM you. You are then not allowed to tell anyone of your character's real role, neither in character nor out of character. The only way someone can find out who your character really is, is by nearly killing them. Naturally, if you're a leader in disguise and you can avoid being killed by a leprechaun, you should probably do so, even if it means breaking disguise. As for what happens then... we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I'll flesh this out more if people take an interest.

Nice

The Divine faction consists of the forces of Heaven.

At the top of the Divine chain of command is, of course, God.

Directly beneath God is the Archangels, humanoid beings with six wings and an abundance of Divine power.

Next are the Angels, which is your standard, two winged humanoid.

Lastly are the Cherubs, which are actually souls that have descended from Heaven. They have great strength and small amounts of Divine power.

Cherubs can take on any form they want, being only souls, but if they choose a human form, they will look like how they did before they died.

While the Divine faction is incredibly strong both physically and magically, their forces are limited and small in number.

The Infernal faction consists of the forces of Hell.

The leader of the Infernal faction is Satan, or if you prefer, Lucifer.

Below Satan are the Demons. They are characterized by taking on a humanoid form with many bodily mutations. They possess great Infernal power.

Next are the Devils. They usually have smaller bodily mutations, and less of them, too.

Lastly are the Imps. These are souls that have ascended from the depths of Hell, and now have incredible strength.

As you may have noticed, the Infernal faction and Divine faction are structured much in the same way. While the Divine faction has a finite number of members in it, however, the Infernal faction is always open for others to join.

The Mythical faction consists of pretty much everyone else who isn't human.

Instead of actually having a chain of command, individuals are divided between two sets.

The Benevolent set is for creatures that don't need to kill, harm, or otherwise hurt others to survive.

The Malevolent set is for creatures who require some form of inflicting pain in order to survive.

Because the Mythical faction is so large and constantly expanding, the two sets are almost always fighting, though they did decide to call a truce and unite to fight the other factions. Each set has its own leader, and whichever set is dominant is which leader currently leads the faction. Since the Benevolent set was dominating, the Phoenix was in charge of the faction up until their disappearance.

Bumping this one last time. If no one else takes interest, I'll let this idea go.
