Life's Reset (SakuraTheBrave)

Jon woke from a long sleep. It was a Saturday and he was looking forward to spending some time with his family. He sat up and saw his wife sleeping next to him. He carefully got out of bed and started making coffee, yawning to wake himself up and happy his five year old son wasn't up just yet.

Airith stirred a little in her sleep as she felt the usual shift of the bed, alerting her that her husband was thankfully alive, and awake. She allowed herself a few more minutes of sleep before her body woke her up once again, this time permanently. Airith sat up in their King sized bed and threw the covers off her body before sliding off the bed and placing her feet firmly on the floor. She did a quick stretch before walking down the stairs quietly and into the kitchen. "Good morning." She spoke, smiling.

"Morning. How'd you sleep?" He asked as the coffee began to bubble. Jon was a cop, and a writer. He would do police work during the week, and on his days off he'd usually write his novel, but not today. Today was a special day.

She yawned softly, shaking her head as she did. "I slept great, mostly." Airith replied, leaning against the counter, watching the coffee. "Even though it's been five years since we've had Noah, I can't help but wake up every two hours thinking he needs me." She laughed as she thought about it, closing her eyes. "What about you?"

Jon chuckled at the thought of her tending to Noah. He hadn't needed that for three years now.

"Good, when I actually got home. Full moon last night, and those are always crazy. I was gonna write, but I just collapsed." The coffee pot beeped, signaling it was done.

"So is everything ready for Noah's surprise party?"

A bright smile quickly spread across her face as he mentioned the party. She walked across the kitchen and picked up a binder and a list of people who already RSVP'd, then placed it on the island that now separated the two. She had always been one to plan things exactly, making sure to dot her i's and cross her t's. Airith was the one who planned their wedding, all by herself, and to be able to plan her son's birthday, was the perfect thing. Her small hands flipped the cover of the binder as she began to flip through the pages, making sure everything was there, looking up at her husband, the smile still as bright as ever. "Everything seems perfect, love."

Jon leaned in and kissed her. He didn't mind planning things, but he hated trying to get everyone together and the scheduling part of it.

"Now let's just hope I can maneuver the party well. Maybe I'll just shadow Noah." Jon had never really been that good at socializing. He was a wallflower. He handed Airith her coffee and walked into they're living room, turning on the tv.

Airith giggled after Jon pulled away from the kiss, closing the binder and setting the list on top of it, eyeing it. "Well, I do have some good news." She started, taking a sip of her coffee before following her husband, sitting down on the couch. "I managed to talk your friends from high school into coming to the party. It should make you feel more relaxed, considering Noah will probably be running around with the other little kids." She explained, leaning over to the place the cup on the coffee table.

Jon nodded. They were likely to get together then and talk about star wars and superheroes, and all other kind of geeky stuff. He couldn't wait to share his book with them.

"Well, I guess I won't be sitting in a corner looking around awkwardly." Jon said, alluding to when they first met, than handing her the remote. He lay his head back and sipped his coffee, then closed his eyes.

She smirked at how well the party was going to be. Airith was sort of a bragger when it came to planning things, she wanted it to be the best of the best. "See, aren't I amazing?" She asked openly, taking the remote and flipping through the channels until it landed on the news channel, something they always watched together in the mornings when they could. Ever since Noah was born, Airith took to being a stay at home mom, cleaning, cooking, planning, and taking care of her family was all she wanted in this world, and without them, she didn't know what she would do. Airith laid the remote next to her and scooted closer to Jon, laying her head on his chest as she listened to the stories.

Jon smiled as she lay her head on his chest. They had been married six years, but he never got tired of the intimacy and love they shared. Especially since they had loved each other since high school, but Jon was a Christian, and waited for anything besides holding hands till they were engaged or married. He kissed her forehead as they watches tv, but slowly drifted off to sleep. He was awoken however by the sounds of Noah shouting that it was his birthday and presents were coming.

"Presents? Who said you were getting presents?" He asked as he opened his eyes.

A smile was practically glued on her face whenever she was around her husband and son, her boys, as she would call them. Her life was perfect in her eyes, and maybe later on they could add another member to their family. Airith wasn't even listening to the news anymore as she thought of her parents and in-laws coming in for the party, each taking turns cuddling the small child and asking if they were going to receive anymore grandkids. She couldn't help but chuckle at this. Her train of thought was soon broken as she heard the sound of small bare feet through the hallway then down the stairs, followed by shouting. Their rambunctious son was finally awake. Airith laughed at Noah's facial expression after what Jon said, engulfing him in her arms as he stared at his father, his lips formed into a pout.

"I'm joking buddy." He said, messing up his sons hair.

"But you don't get them yet. We've got cake." Jon had made a cake for his son, and had managed to put a Lord of the Rings design on it. Last year it was star wars. Each year Noah wanted something new.

"And then we're going to go somewhere." He said. He opened the microwave and pulled out the cake, lighting the candles.

"Happy Birthday to you." He began.

Noah's hazel eyes widened at the cake his father made, he was smiling from ear to ear. Airith grabbed her phone and set him on the counter, facing the cake. She pulled up the camera and took a few photos before setting it to record as she joined Jon in singing Happy Birthday, helping him blow out the last candle and holding him back before he was able to dig his hands into it. Noah looked up at his father, his untrimmed, messy hair falling infront of his face. "Presents!" He demanded, already forgetting that they were about to leave.

"Not yet. Patient you must be, young Padawan." He said, imitating Yoda and telling him to grab his coat. His own birthday was in a week, but he always forgot about it in the race to get his sons birthday ready, and especially with the party.

"Head to the car, your mom and I will be out in a second." He said.

"Do we have everything?" He asked as he looked around to make sure he didn't forget anything.

Airith watched her son carefully as he walked out of the door and towards the car, turning to glance around the kitchen. "Seems like we have everything. Your parents are going to meet us there to help us set up." She told him, grabbing the keys and handing them to Jon. She looked out the door and saw Noah heading towards the street, and although the neighborhood was silent and no cars running by, Airith shouted towards their son and ran out the door, picking him up and placing him in his car seat, scolding him about the dangers of going towards the road.

"How about, since this should be a surprise, you take him out somewhere, and I'll handle set up." Jon suggested. He loved setting up and working. He was one of the few teens who would jump at a chance to help when he was in high school.

"That way he won't see us taking half an hour to set up than saying 'Surprise!' when it's set up."

Airith agreed and handed the binder over to him, kissing him on the cheek softly before climbing into her car. "I'll take him to Toys R Us and let him look around for Christmas." She said jokingly. "Text or call me if you need anything and when it's ready." Airith wouldn't admit it, but she was getting nervous as to how it would look since she wouldn't be there to set up. Not that she had an issue with it, it just placed worry deep inside her mind. "Love you! Be careful!"

"I will." Jon drove to his church where the party was being held. One thing he loved about churches was all the people willing to help. It didn't take them long to hang everything and decorate the place. Jon called Airith when it was done and sat in the dark, waiting for her to open the door with Noah.

It took a good 10 minutes for her to drag her son out of the store. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea, but once she promised Noah that he could open presents, he shot out of the store and to the car, jumping up at down excitedly until he was placed in the car. On their way to the church, she checked her rearview mirror and saw that he was fast asleep, his head hanging to the side as he snored softly. Once they were at the church, Airith woke her son and held him to her side, despite him becoming heavier. She walked up the stairs and turned the door knob, opening the double doors.

"Surprise!" Everyone shouted as they entered, the lights coming on and confetti being launched into the air. Jon smiled as Noah jumped, then excitedly ran forward. He walked to Airith as he watched him play with his friends.

"How was he?"

Airith acted surprised with Noah and released him, placing a hand on her hip as he ran around. She smiled and shook her head, looking down. "He was as excited as ever. If he could choose to live with us or at the store, we might as well pack his bags now." Airith replied, laughing.

Jon chuckled. He saw his old friends from high school and waved at them.

"I'm gonna go geek out with my friends." Jon said, kissing her. But in the corner of his eye, he saw a flash, then looked out the window as a white light shot into the sky.

"Did you see that?" He asked Airith, the concern in his voice easy to detect.

Airith grabbed onto his shirt as the church grew silent, even the kids stopped and looked towards the window. Airith stood closer to Jon and bit her lower lip in concern. "Yeah.. M..Maybe it was.." She tried to think of what it could've been, but couldn't. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, looking towards Noah. "Noah, please come here." She demanded, her motherly instincts kicking in.

"Get down. I don't know what the check that is, but it's not gonna hurt anyone here!" Jon shouted to everyone. He watched as the light crept towards them, engulfing the church, and all of a sudden a bell rang, signaling the end of class. Jon looked around.

"Noah? Airith?"

"Mr. Wilson, please calm down. Did you doze off?"
