Life in an Orphanage [Inactive]

Layla blinked, "Uh, thanks, mister" She stammered to Gabe and Avery gagged. "I love getting hurt, drugs and taking candy from strangers" She said with a grin before pushing her way to the door, just as the reached it, an orphanage worker grabbed Avery's shoulder, "Where are you going?" She asked and Avery shoved her hand off, "Skating bye"

Lucas looked up from his notebook at the boys question and the clatter of his luggage. Lucas placed a pencil in his notebook and closed it. "You make Youtube videos?" Lucas never imagined such weird and happy people to be in such a gloomy place like this. Lucas was curious and he leaned forward about to ask more until Preston spoke up, " I'm fine, you?"

Preston glanced at the boy, "You've never heard of me? Guess you don't play minecraft or watching minecraft youtubers" He said happily before pulling his camera out and setting it all up on one of the desks, "Oh, do you want this Desk?" He asked, freezing in motion, "And I'm okay" He said with a smile before touching his hair, "God donnit. I didn't realize my hair looked like a cactus." He smoothed it down with a frown. Preston glanced at the boy, "Watcha writing in?" He asked, flopping down besides the boy.

Gabe shook his head, rolling his eyes and taking a seat in a musty chair near the couch. He kept watching the kids play and watched the other teenagers do their thing. It was going to be a pretty boring day, he could already tell.

Lucas nodded no to both of the boys questions not caring about the desk. It was surly going to be interesting with this boy around. When Preston sat next to Lucas Lucas jumped slightly before turning to face the boy, the tips of his mouth lifted slightly as he stared at Preston's hair it pointed in nearly every direction making it look like a growing Afro. Lucas looked from his hair when he noticed he was asked a questioned and pushed his bangs out of his green eyes and set his hand on top of the notebook looking more directly at Preston "it's my journal, I write stories in it....it's just a hobby..." He trailed off and averted his eyes to the side, feeling embarrassed about talking only about himself, he soon came up with a way to not talk about it anymore. "What's Mincraft? I mean well, what do you do in it?" Lucas tilted his head slightly in question.

Preston leaned back onto Lucas' bed and yawned, "It's fun. It's like online legos except with monsters and stuff. You punch trees, get wood" He could help but grin at the slightly dirty joke before continuing, "You make tools, survive and mine things. You can make armor and things. It's overall really fun, they have online servers and mini-games and such. Wanna play it?" He asked, suddenly he dove into his pocket, sitting up and grinning, "Or do you wanna watch me and Matt play it?" He pulled out an iphone, "We are pretty far along in the series but I can find the first episode. I was a big noob at it so yep but Matt should me how to do it, he's pretty good at it but I got better at pvp, player vs player." He grinned before brushing his bangs out further from his face, making sure to glance at the boy.

Leslie leaned against the bed of her new room. The social worker had just dropped her off not that long ago and seeing as it was so late, her new surrogate family led her up to her room. Luckily, unlike her last house, she had a room to herself, although that was more because of how many other people were in the house than anything. She wasn't complaining though. Leslie opened the window of the room to let the cold night air in and leaned against the wall once more and lit a cigarette. She wasn't sure what their policy was on smoking, so for now, she was laying low. She watched as the smoke drifted out the window and sighed. She had tried to get emancipation once her mom was admitted into the hospital, but seeing as that she was still technically a minor and she didn't have a steady income, she was stuck here until she was at least eighteen or her mother made a miraculous recovery. "Fantastic," she muttered as she looked at her bags and tossed the cigarette stub out the window.

Lucas listened intently about the new world he was learning about, he felt himself lean forward just a little becoming interested. "Could I watch you play?.." Lucas felt anxious to see what him and his friend Matt did that made it so much fun, he rubbed the back of his neck.

Preston laughed, "Of course. Do wanna see me learn or want me to open it up now?" He asked as he stretched. (DERP SORRY IT IS SO SHORT ;3; I HAD SUC H BAD WB I HATE MYSELF FOR DOING A ONE LINER)

Lucas ran his fingers through his bangs and thought about it "I wouldn't mind either." He simply stated, watching Preston stretch. "Your hair is still messy by the way." Lucas' tried to speak with an American accent but his Scottish accent slurred into his words and he cringed slightly. ( it's totally fine, it happens to everyone.)

Leslie closed the window of her room and stepped out into the hall to go to the bathroom when she heard noise from one of the rooms. She heard someone remark about someone else's messy hair, and her curiosity got the best of her. She approached the door and she thought about knocking but said 'fuck it' and opened the door anyways to see what was going on. "Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt," Leslie said, although her monotone voice clearly spoke for her that she wasn't sorry at all. "I'm new here, was curious as to what all the noise was about."

Preston's cheeks grew a little red, "Ah son of a cactus" He stood upright and searched through his smallest bag, pulling out a brush and started brushing his hair, until it was smooth before grabbing his laptop and sitting next to Lucas, "Nice accent by the way!" He added with a grin before starting up minecraft. When it loaded, he created up a new world, putting it into survival, and playing it, "Hard, normal or easy? He asked before creating the world. "Or peaceful, meaning no monsters?" Preston jumped as a girl entered the room. "oh hello!" He chirped

Leslie pursed her lips and lifted a brow and lifted her hand in a wave. "I'm Leslie," she greeted, before looking at the screen. "Is that Mincraft?" she asked, before coming into the room and sitting down on the floor, ignoring the fact that she was never really invited inside. "I downloaded that game off of Steam a few months back," she said simply.

Lucas watched Leslie enter and sit on the ground, she was emotionless and it caused Lucas to be uneasy. He rubbed his palm against his pant leg and he brought his hands into the sleeves of his old sweater. Lucas looked towards the girl and back at Preston knowing this would be a conversation he wouldn't really understand.

Preston raised an eyebrow, "Steam had it, Mojang would never allow that. Watch, steam probably took the shiz. If you would mind, I think it would be best if you weren't here." He glanced at Lucas, "i think my room mate is a bit awkward. You can hang out later, I think he wants to learn minecraft first" He asked politely, then he realized, "Wait, do you know who I am? Do you watch youtubers?" He asked, out of curiousity.

Lucas lifted his hands up when he heard what Preston said and waved them slightly."Oh, it's fine. I'm alright with listening." Preston seemed to have been enjoying what he was talking about and Lucas didn't want to be the cause of his stopping.

"No, don't worry," Leslie said, waving off the guy who said she could stay and moving to stand up, "You guys have your little boys night," she mumbled irritatedly. Leslie was mildly irritated by the fact that they hadn't asked her to stay, but the rest of her couldn't really find it in her to care, and made her way out. She never paid much attention to the way she came across to people, but never really cared to. She made her way out of the room and back into the hallway. "I had to take a piss anyways," she muttered to no one and shut the door behind her.

Preston watched her leave, feeling slightly bad, "Stop by later! Bye!" He called as she shut the door. "I feel a little bad doing that" He admitted to Lucas before scooting closer so he could see the computer screen. "So you'll spawn in a random world, this is a swamp biome. "This monster, the green cube is a Slime. He is aggressive but pretty cool. He has less health than the average mob but will break up into more mobs"

Lucas looked away from the door as he felt Preston move closer, he listened to him explain and watched the screen. "What is the point of the game?" He spoke with his full Scottish accent not minding it now, he faced Preston with curiosity.

Preston grinned, "What's the point of legos? To do whatever the hell you want with them. You can build castles, just survive or whatever you want!" He explained before punching the slime, the left click mouse is for hitting or breaking things, right for placing, hoeing the ground or using a bow. The boy kept punching the slime until it died, "So when you kill a big slime, three medium slimes come out, kill the medium slime and tiny slimes come out, the tiny ones can only hurt you on hard or normal, I believe." He killed the slimes, when you kill any mobs, they will drop experience, which will let you enchant items, making them stronger"

Lucas watched and listened, he had played with Legos when he was a child but it wasn't like this. "So this is a...." Lucas thought back to what other students at his past schools would call it, "free roam?" Lucas hadn't talked to anyone at his schools for the past couple years so he wasn't up to date on the current things or interests of today. Lucas turned towards the window hearing rain begin to patter against the glass before turning back to the screen.

Preston thought about it for a second, "I guess that's a good way to play it" he finally said before glancing at the window and then back to the screen to play, "So you punch trees to get wood logs. Push E to oepn your inventory. See the four squares here, it is a mini crafting table, you put the wood logs there to get wooden blanks" As he said that he made the planks.

Lucas heard the rain fall harder and harder into the window growing slightly uneasy. "So, do you have any other hobbies?" He wanted to get to know his roommate, at the moment all Lucas really knew about Preston was his name, his love for video games, and that he was polite and naturally nice and energetic.

Preston shut the lid to his computer, "you don't really seem into it, so let's just chat" He suggested, scooting his computer away from him before thinking, "I use to volunteer at shelters but not so much now. I like to take photographs and see movies" He thought for a couple minutes before thinking, "I think youtube is the best hobby I got, I love giving a smile to people" He thought before scooting against the wall and glancing at the slightly taller boy (assuming he's taller cause Preston is short).

Lucas listened, "I think any hobby that makes someone smile is a great hobby." He scooted from the wall and sat criss crossed facing Preston. He gripped his feet with his hands "I took photography at one of my schools," Lucas stared at his feet as he moved his toes and smiled at the memory "I was terrible at it but it was still fun."
