Gavin tries to bandage up his arm and walks over to pick up a pack with the other arm.

"Here, let me look at that." Keldan moves over to examine Gavin's wound.

The cut is pretty nasty. He probably won't be able to use that arm for much. You can rebandage it to give it a better chance of healing, but what it really needs is stitches and time.

"This should be cleaned and properly bandaged. Do you have any alcohol with you?"

He grunts and passes you a skin he was about to take a swig from. "First ye cut it and then ye try to fix it. I hope yer a bit more decided in your other convictions, haha." He laughs somewhat stiffly trying to distract himself from the pain.

"Well, you did come at me with a sword. Anyway, I like to think that our relationship has come a long way since then. Here, hold still," Keldan says as he sterilizes and bandages the wound.

He grunts and winces as you work, but the arm is now bandaged and less likely to take to infection. "So, where're we headed?"

"This mining town sounds like a good start. Beyond that... well, I couldn't say exactly where we're headed, but I think I'll know when we get there."

The two of you pick your way back to a hunting path and follow it most of the way to the mining village. Beyond the trees you can see a rough wooden palisade backed up to a cut in the mountainside. The afternoon sun is obscured by the adjacent mountain. Gavin crouches next to you, "It's a small place, but they'll sell food and bunks. The garrison is a poor excuse for it, but they'll recognized you for a slave if you go in wearing that. Realm likes to keep an eye on the valuables, see."
