The first fission bomb used in war was dropped in August, 1945.
The first 'Blue Star' laser railgun was used in war in August, 2033.
The first bomb with antimatter components was used in war in August, 2116.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that August is a really shitty month.
Alongside the stuff I said above, August was also the month when the US, China, India, and Russia fell into disarray after attempting to destroy eachother during World War V. August was when Japan cut off all communication with the outside, and the following August was when they revealed their Safe Districts plan.
Nine districts - giant, 'safe' metropoli - were to be built off of already created cities, such as Tokyo and Kyoto. Each district would be ruled by a council of nine, and closed off themselves from the other eight districts. The council was to be elected by the government, and were to be composed of the most honest, purehearted, trustworthy politicians around.
Obviously, this all went downhill very quickly.
In District Six, nicknamed the Holy City, corruption occurred almost instantaniously, with Council members using their power to have everything in their favor, and anyone who attempted to fight it was killed. At first, it was all done in secret, in an attempt to keep the 'Holy City' vibe. Eventually, that went out of the window. Peaceful protests were met with the latest military weapons (which, by the way, were supposed to be banned by Article Twelve in the Safe District plan.), the soldiers behind them seemingly happy to test how they held up against living targets.
Most tried to ignore or live with these problems, but, not everyone was okay with losing the bit of freedom they had in this world.
Four masked citizens blocked a military van with an unmarked station wagon. The drivers didn't carry weapons with them due to the fear of civilians finding them, so two of the attackers easily subdued the drivers with their makeshift knives. Meanwhile, the other two sliced the locks for the back of the van, and loaded the firearms crates inside into their vehicle. They regroup in the station wagon, and speed away from the scene.
You are one of these four people, or one of their companions, who wish to use force to get power over the city.
Or, you are companions of the late drivers, and wish to crush the rebellion caused by overdramatic conspiracy theorists.
The role-play will function through a series of missions and heists. Each side will have their own thread for the beginning of the mission, and engagement will be in a shared thread. This is highly strategic. Conflicts in plans, specifically their outcomes, will be solved by me and a couple others. More information about this will be available as the project develops.
Reply your character and what side you wish to be on. As of now, there are unlimited slots. Include these:
Char name
Codename (username/variant of username)
Age
Normal Appearance (picture or description)
Mission/Robbery Appearance (mostly applies to the rebels, soldiers must wear a variant of a uniform)
Preferred Weapons and Equipment (three max, one melee recommended, equipment can be made-up on both sides)
Preferred Role (this is cyberpunk, use your imagination)
The thing that I can predict happening the most is people not acting their side. Remember that the rebellion is as it sounds; an underfunded rebellion. Rebels should have low end weapons, but with lots of space for customization. Soldiers should have the latest technology (Sci-fi and made-up weapons ONLY accepted for Council Soldiers, BUT, heavily customized existing weapons are only allowed for rebels.) Soldiers should look a little bit military-esque, rebels more casual.
Another thing I can predict: No one joining the council soldiers, because the rebellion sounds funner. Keep in mind that this is, again, a cyberpunk roleplay. Rather than stuck-up soldiers, they're more like sci-fi game badasses.
A team for each side will be created with the help of these character designs.
NOTE: Despite the strategic and game-like overlay, keep in mind that this is still a creative roleplay. Missions will only happen every once in a while (most likely every day or couple days, depending on activity), so there is lots of time in-between for normal roleplaying.
ON THE MATTER OF CHARACTER DEATH: This being the Holy City, amazing medical technology allows it for your character to only be taken out of combat when shot appropriately, and for some reason noone can manage to shoot anyone in the head or heart or anything immediately fatal like that. I'll probably think of a better excuse for this later.
Expect lots of quick editing and mistakes; this post is being made on a first gen itouch.
