Advice/Help launching a first group roleplay... tips?

hi all! this is literally my first day on rpnation (yipee1!) and i already want to start a group roleplay. i've got the idea but i want to make sure i'm not missing anything. so here's my Q for the pros: what are some things you always include? any rules that are important to include? ways to get people interested or particular guidelines i should have in place before the roleplay begins?

I don't roleplay on here often and can't answer what works as far as attracting RPN players, but group chemistry is important, and finding likeminded players works best if you are upfront about your expectations and how you'll run the roleplay. How often do you expect players to post? Do you expect a minimum post length? Will you as the GM guide the game, or will the roleplay be a sandbox where players are expected to figure out their own interactions? Will OOC be a Discord server or a thread on RPN? A sort-of hot button issue on RPN is age, too. Do you want only players who are at least 18, or nah? Are there meta details or limitations for your specific roleplay that fits better in rules than in lore? Be careful about writing a full manual or else you might deter people, but try to identify key details such as these.
