Last Ones Standing

"Geh!" The scientist skidded to a stop before she actually ran into the man, scratching up her thin nurse's shoes from the rough concrete. "A-ah! Sorry, sir! It won't happen again!"

That was when she felt his hand leave hers. "V-val!!" We could have gotten away easily!!! You're causing a scene!! Chrissy went to yank him off, but stopped noticing the strange look on the white haired man's face. Uh oh. That's not good...

Laz heard the girl's apology, started even to nod and be on his way. Then the hollow stare of the boy caught his own light gaze, and he hesitated. If he had expected anything besides words from the boy, and possibly even if he had not had his thoughts lingering elsewhere, he would have dodged. He was gifted with reflexes like that. But instead he merely blinked and suddenly the blonde was latched onto his front, so close he could feel his breath on his face, so close he could kiss him.

"What-" Lazarus stumbled backwards with the new weight, thrown off balance, and hit the wall of the building with a light thud, red flags going up in his head, expression going to one of something near panic. Before the civilian could get too good of a grip on him, the white-haired teen locked his gloved hands solidly on the blonde's chest and shoulder and pushed, in hopes he wouldn't stick.

Now within a block from the wall separating the mutants from civilization, Tannis continued their patrol, pistol concealed by a hand in their pocket. Their vision was caught by a white haired guy backing up against a wall, what looked like a bright pink and black ball of limbs and blond hair clinging to his chest.

Without much thought, Tannis began walking silently towards them, noticing another person there as well. A... small girl. What the hell is going on...? They thought, the smallest traces of confusion on their otherwise stonewall expression.

The male's hopes were wrong as Val stuck to him like glue. He pouted and whimpered a little at the man's attempt to push him off. Val only got closer to the man as his grip on him tightened, his head leaning on his shoulder. Val stuck his tongue out and it made contact with the man's skin. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! I REFUSE TO SEE ANYMORE OF THIS, GET OFF! He was getting annoyed by the voice's yelling, which resulted in his nails accidentally deepening into the white haired male's skin.

Chrissy started to wave her arms in a frantic, childishly way. "Val! Seriously, get off! You're scaring him!" She attempted to drag him off by the shoulder, but the girl had little to no muscle in her entire body so that was basically impossible. "We have to go, now! Before you draw any attention!" She pleaded, glancing about with wide nervous eyes.

That was when the auburn eyes locked onto a man approaching them. No... "Val. Get off. Now. Go into the alley." Her voice was hoarse with fear. Chrissy could always sense out a superioralis. Just the way they held themselves, high and mighty, with a glint of murder always in their eye. The girl winced, touching the nerve monitor on the back of her neck as it began to beep wildly. She was getting to scared, her body was already weak enough without stress. "Just listen to me and go!" She hissed at the blonde.

Laz heard the whimper, feeling the boy get closer to him and shrinking away, starting to form words before he felt something hot and wet run up his neck, right next to the collar of his suit. That can't be... The nurse practically went rigid, his heart rocketing into his throat, his thoughts a blurred mess of Why is this happening, and This is disgusting like a soundtrack stuck on repeat, before the nails digging into his skin and the sound of the girl's voice snapped him out of it as he scrambled to get away. He managed to get out, the terror evident in his tone, "H-Hell, get off!" And, to pack a punch from what he said, he did what any person in the situation would do.

He pushed the blonde downwards and to the right a little, spread his stance by a foot then thrust his leg up to knee him as hard in the crotch as he possibly could. Despite being in full on panic mode, he had calculated where he placed his attacker perfectly for a faultless ball crushing sensation, before he gripped the boy's hands and shoved him off as hard as he could, despite expecting little resistance.

Val's ass hit the ground as bended over and held onto his crotch. A light blush appeared on his face as he panted heavily. He looked up towards Chrissy and behind her he saw another man approaching them, his eyes widened, Grab the girl and run you fool., He stood up quickly and grab Chrissy's arm, running into the alley. He was surprisingly fast for a Minumalis and someone with a walking problem.

@Cherrywitch

"Hya?!" Chrissy squeaked in surprise as she was pulled away, eyes glancing back at the superioralis. Alright, Christina. This is where suparus helps us out!

Channeling into her speed, she clutched tight onto Val, suddenly bolting at an inhuman level. She couldn't enter LAST, or the superioralis would locate the hideout. She just had to run. That's it, just run, it was the only chance they had. Hopefully this guy's speed didn't match or surpass her own, or they were in for one hell of a chase. If they were caught, they both would be killed. Chrissy didn't care much for herself, but... She looked at the boy being dragged behind her. She couldn't let someone get hurt, not under her watch.

The brunette winced again, her nerve monitor and now her heart rate monitor flashing and beeping wildly. Chrissy could feel herself beginning to overheat.

As they got closer to the group, Tannis got the urge to cringe when they saw the kid in the sweater get kneed in the crotch. As soon as the pair ran off, they were practically right behind the person left by himself, completely silent until they spoke up.

"What just happened here?" Tannis asked, their voice quiet but prominent in the almost silence of the area. "I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you didn't know those people, hm?" The soldier's eyebrows raised to emphasize the implied question in the statement, eyes darting away from the Trialis in front of them to the alley the other two ran down and back.

Lazarus had never been more relieved, nor felt so much literal weight off his shoulders, ever before in his life when the kid fell to the ground in agony. He wiped the wet spot on his neck so hard with his hand he was positive he left a red mark, watching with a forlorn look on his features as they ran off with ridiculous speed. He pulled himself from the wall, realizing he was still pressed to it without reason, straightening his shirt as he tried to stop his hands from shaking.

Forcing himself to think, he recalled that he had an extra set of clothes back in the hospital that he could easily change into, and that instantly made him calmer, although he was still visibly shaken. He exhaled and began to turn to head off so he could get cleaned up, when a voice made him jump.
What just happened here? Laz's gaze went to the person that had approached him, and as he looked him over his heartrate did anything but slow to normal. He almost missed the other's question as his face- already a bit flushed from how embarassed he was- lit up even further with something a bit more than embarrassment, an innocent amount of attraction. He responded neutrally, "No, I don't know them. They don't seem to make the best company."

Giving no sign that they were doing it, Tannis scanned the other's face to identify him. Instantly, results came back from the city's database, popping up in their field of vision like an HUD. 'Name: Jones, Lazarus, Age: 19, Gender: Male, ID: 771231, Known LAST affiliate: No'. They noticed the rather excessive tint of red on Lazarus's cheeks, but didn't comment.

Tannis nodded along in agreement to the Trialis's words, eyes narrowing, quickly popping another question. "Do you know why you were attacked?" Within another moment, they couldn't hear the sound of the girl's footsteps anymore, deciding a chase wasn't worth it- this time.

@SpooksinaBox

Lazarus was taken aback by the person's confidence and ease upon speaking with him. The other had every right to talk as he- or she, or they as Laz had not figured out yet- pleased, but there was something more than simple confidence in their tone. This person had an air of importance about him that made the hairs on the teen's neck stand. Still, he had enough frustration inside of him to say quietly, "I wouldn't call it an attack, more like extremely poor social etiquette." He didn't want to answer directly, disliking that the conversation immediately turned to questioning him, and honestly too flustered and pissed to want to provide someone else with information. Although he didn't expect an honest answer, he asked anyways, gaze focused on the other looking for changes in his expression, "What does it concern you?"

@robotjack

Stop. He didn't stop. Stop. They kept running. .... I'll let them come back. He grinded to a halt. Letting go of Chrissy's hand. He panted heavily, his back hitting against a wall as he tried to slow his breathing. He slid down, holding his head. He reached for the pen in his pocket and pressed the button, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry... I want to go back. I need to go back, I shouldn't have said yes. I'm just a Minumalis burden! They wouldn't want some one like me. I'm unstable. You know I'm unsta" He lets go of the pen as he furiously starts coughing up blood. He holds a hand up to his mouth and clutches at his stomach.

@Cherrywitch

The girl yelped as the inertia forced her to trip and fall roughly on the ground, badly scratching up her knees and cheek. Blood was clawed on the ground where she had fell, Chrissy sitting up painfully and touching the stinging injury on her face, sucking in air through her teeth.

A flash of a screen from her plasma pen made her refocus on Val, shaking her head lightly so her brown locks bounced. "No, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to overwork you, I just- I didn't want you to get caught, but I don't think they're coming after us anytime soon." The monitors slowly quieted in their incessant beeping as the girls went over, gently petting his head. "No you're not. That's just what they want you to think. Once you give up, the government has won. You have to stay strong. If not for me, than for you, and all the minumalis." The scientist looked tired, she herself overheating from the overuse of her speed, seeming about ready to topple over at any given moment. Instead, Chrissy pulled out a few napkins and gently dabbed at the blood from his mouth. "You can rest for now."

@BennyAxC

She nodded and wiped away the blood surrounding her mouth, "I appreciate you giving us a break. We kinda deserve it after the shit he did." She spoke in a soft voice, the words coming from her mouth swiftly without any hesitation. She smirked as she stood up and spoke again, not giving Christina any time to respond or comprehend what was happening, "Though I do appreciate it. We don't need a fucking break. Our body is fine."

@Cherrywitch

"Huh?!"

The scientist jumped to her feet, almost tipping over from exhaustion but regained herself quickly. "W-wait, I though- how are you-?!" In an instant, it clicked. Chrissy frowned deeply. "You're not Val... Are you?" The brunette stood straight, ignoring the profanity. It just didn't feel like that should come out of the innocent person's mouth. The scientist tensed up, hearing her monitors start to beep dully again. Ah... I shouldn't be standing yet... Chrissy held her head as she stumbled a bit.

@BennyAxC

She chuckled and clapped her hands, "Oh great! You got it on the first fucking try! You are a smart one, aren't you?" She watched the scientists movements, every movement. Lucille gave a frustrated sigh, "You've go to be shitting me.." She mumbled and turned towards Christina. In a second, Christina was in Lucille's arms. She was being carried like a bride. "Look Christina. Unlike Val, I can walk properly. You can ask how later. Just know it's the damn voices. Anywho~... I'm not stopping here. Fuck. That. But I can see that you are... Not suitable for walking yet. So I'll carry you, just tell me where to go and when to stop or whatever, okay?" She smiled at her.

@Cherrywitch

The girl blushed as she was lifted, seeming confused at first but quickly started to wiggle in annoyance. "Hey! Just because I'm short doesn't mean you can carry me around! I'm fine, put me down, I'm not a kid you know!" Chrissy punched at 'her' shoulder, but it felt more like someone was tapping at her shoulder rather than actually attempting to hurt her. The girl pouted in anger at her weak body, the monitors continuing to beep warnings under her hair and clothing. "Don't mind the monitors, I'm fine, really, put me down, this is embarrassing!" The scientist whined quietly, not nearly having enough strength to get herself down.

@BennyAxC

Usually the one asking the questions, Tannis got a little annoyed at the evasive answer and the query directed at them.

"Just keeping an eye out for those... less fortunate than myself." They chose their words carefully, not wanting to explain everything to a civillian.

"You seem annoyed enough, so I'll be on my way." The soldier moved like they were going to walk past Laz, headed to the wall like they were originally. Maybe circle around the block and try to find that crazy kid.

@SpooksinaBox (I had little to no idea what to put in this lmao)

Lucille semi-growled, "HEY!" She yelled then sighed, "I... I don't understand how this is embarrassing. And I just fucking said you are unsuitable to walk and I'm not waiting here with you in a god damn alley! You better fucking accept that you are going to be carried like this and I don't give two flying shits if you don't like it. Now... I don't wanna hear anything you say unless it's giving me directions to the hideout." She was glaring at her the whole time, looking like she was ready to kill Christina at any moment.

The brunette grumbled in a mix of annoyance and embarrassment, hiding her face under her short brown locks as if someone could recognize her. "Fine, but you're putting me down as soon as we get there! The others won't let me hear the end of it if they see me getting carried like a damn doll..." She huffed, touching her cheek as she felt the wound already beginning to close. Well, that was one good thing about her regenerative ability.

Chrissy quickly listed off the directions, repeating the needed one anytime 'Lucille' seemed to forget it. The whole time she was very cranky, pouting thickly. She hated being treated like a kid! Chrissy also refused to look at the one holding her, uncomfortable being that close to someone else's face for this long. I miss Val, he's not as bossy as this chick! Oh, you're a few inches taller, big deal! Even her thoughts were dripping with sass.

Lucille hummed silently to herself as she followed Christina'a instructions. The humming helped quiet down the voices. A few still chattered, but it was mostly whispering. Though, that didn't bother her as much. What did bother her was that the shorty refused to look at her, so she decided to speak, "I don't think I properly introduced myself. My name is Lucille Miller. I'm the voice that Val calls nice.... He's a child you know? I don't exactly like children but we're kinda stuck together. The voices prevent him to walk properly. He was never taught by anybody that you shouldn't trust people who are nice to you, because then you could easily be taken advantage of. The worst part is that he doesn't listen to reason. He's got reckless behavior as you saw back there with the man. It's like he only acts, never fucking thinks about what he does. He expects people to tell him everything but when they ask him to tell them everything he gets pissed... Hearing all that, do you regret your decision of bringing him here? Or do you think a shorty like you can handle it?" Lucille didn't really expect to say all that. It kinda just came out the moment she started to speak. But it really did need to be said, Val was a ticking time bomb not ready to explode. Christina needed to know what she was dealing with before she tried to make the bomb explode.

@Cherrywitch

Chrissy finally raised her eyes up as she listened, mouth slightly parted in surprise. At the name she twitched, but the brunette just sighed quietly, turning her eyes down again. "Yes. I do think I can help him. I know I'm small and weak, but I have a good brain, it's a blessing. With my physical weakness I know I won't survive long, which is why I want to help those who have the ability to survive but just aren't used to using it. That's what I see in Val. He may be childish and naïve but he has a good heart, both physically and emotionally, and if I can help him stay alive and keep that heart beating happily I would and will. I have the capabilities to help others, I have the intelligence to build technology to aid them. I feel that's why I was put here, on earth. I may not live long, but I can help others live extensive happy lives. If my life is worth the happiness of another's than I will gladly sacrifice it. So, can I handle Val? Yes. I definitely can." Chrissy raised her eyes again, tears budding on the edges. "Because my life is dedicated to protect others, and Val is someone I want to protect."

@BennyAxC

After Christina was done with her long ass explanation, Lucille simply smiled. It was quiet for a few minuets till she mumbled, "Just like her..." Lucille coughed and blushed a little, "Excuse me. That... Was very nice to hear," She chuckled, "If Val heard you say that he'd be squeezing the fuck out of you.. And crying of course. He's a huge crybaby. Just so you know, I don't care for him. I don't hate him and I don't like him. I feel... Almost nothing for him. So it's refreshing that somebody does care."

The two continued their walk, with Christina giving Lucille directions till they finally made it to the LAST hideout. Lucille gently puts down Christina on the ground. "Before we go inside... Do you want them to meet Val or me first?"

@Cherrywitch

"I'm kind of glad he didn't then. I like hugs, but Val makes then a bit tight." Chrissy gave a quiet laugh, quickly wiping away her tears before they fell.

"Well, as long as I'm alive, Val will be too, and happily living as well. You can count on that."

As they reached LAST, Chrissy helped to scramble down onto her feet, the monitors calmed now that her physical being was recovered. "...Thanks for helping me. I tend to overwork myself a lot. Not really so great for someone as fragile as me, huh?" She scratched the back of her head with a cheeky little grin. "Um, I believe Val is easier to accept. His childlike nature makes him easier to talk to... If you don't mind of course." She cocked her head to the side in curiosity.
