stream Go! Child - The Masquerade
<p>

The setting is in the year 2647, humans have discovered alien life and when they tried to interact with them, they were exposed to a plague that wiped out 2/3 of the human population. The virus causes extreme flu like symptoms, inflammation of the skin, and finally large acidic boils that can grow to the size of basketballs and burn the victim from the inside out. Those who are sick or have already died from the virus are known morbidly as "deadies". The surviving people have clustered together in Europe and Asia, as humanity declared war on the aliens. Scientists had found a way to make humans resistant to the virus, but along with it came side effects. Incredible strength, speed, senses, and other increased abilities. Many humans died from the vaccines, but those who survived them were left to be tortured. They edited the solution, locating the exact properties which made these "super humans" and now all of humanity is forced to take them so that they can become part of the "New Army." As soon as you are born, you are strapped and drilled into with heart rate monitors, mental electro wave monitors, and more that are carefully analyzed by scientists to see if you are worthy. Every week you must get a round of injections of the serum, now known as "Suparus." At the top of this chain is the government, a board of twelve Superioralis of unbelievable strength, even for their rank. Their minds have been corrupted by the serum, and most of them have completely lost their minds to blood lust, but they are so powerful that no one will go against them. Except the resistance, Life After Suffering Endlessly, or LAST. These people have escaped the system under heavy chains. They want to fight the corrupt government, and end the suffering of people. Will you follow the system? Or will you risk it all for freedom? It is your fate to decide...

"Owiee, I can't believe that guy bit me..."

A small, childish voice whined coming from a matching short figure of a girl who currently was rubbing at a sore indentation on her hand which resembled a full set of a grown perimen's teeth. If you hadn't known better, Chrissy could easily be mistaken for a middle schooler playing dress up in a long white lab coat, her lips pouted as she paused to examine the injury. "The thanks I get for bandaging up his head. Should've just let the dummy bleed." She mumbled in annoyance, her lab coat fluttering as she took a sharp turn down a cold dark alleyway.

The girl started to poke at the bricks in the wall. "Stupid... I can't see it this dark...!" Eventually, Chrissy's teeny hand pressed in a loose brick as a small door opened in the building. "Jackpot!" The brunette entered, the door closing quickly and silently behind her.

Chrissy threw off her lab coat neatly onto a coat rack, hopping into a chair behind multiple monitor screens displayed on her metal desk. With a crack of her knuckled she started in. "Ah, it's good to be back in my lab!" She grinned brightly at the place she had built inside the LAST hideout, sprawled out metal pieces on tables along with blueprints and strange looking liquids in squeaky clean beakers. A few 'work in progress' robot giant loomed against the walls.

I suck at first posts yay...

Ivan was standing at the entrance of a bombed-out and abandoned supermarket near the edge of the city, where there was little-to-no surveillance. Most civilians cherished the one day off they got a month. Ivan did too, but he still spent it working. Just not for the government. He was next to an old truck that he had backed into the entrance. Within the rotting building were four ragged individuals.

"I hit the jackpot today." He said to them as he undid the latch on the doors. They swung open to reveal five crates resting on the floor. "Found all this at the back of a warehouse. By the looks of it, no one's even set eyes on them since 2014." Ivan said enthusiastically as two of the individuals quietly stepped forward and began to unload the crates.

He looked down at his notepad. "First crate contains a dozen AK-12s with two steel mags apiece. They're ancient, but they haven't rusted. Second crate is assorted cleaning tools and about 40 bottles of solvent. I'd recommend you use them." He glared at the rebels. Many were too incompetent to clean their weapons and this resulted in many misfires.

"Third and fourth crates contain roughly 4,000 rounds of 7.62x39mm cartridges between them. And then I have something special is number 5." He moved the crate to the edge of the bed and opened it. He produced a sleek black sniper rifle from the bed of cushion it was kept in. He admired the weapon as if it were gold as he held it up.

"This is one of the X50 elephant guns that the New Army has started producing." He handed it too to the rebel groups leader. "Use it sparingly. I had to stick my neck out far to steal that." As the crates were all unloaded, he closed the doors. "Now I believe that warrants a little bonus on top my usual payment." He rubbed his fingers together expectantly.

The rebel leader silently handed him his usual payment of ration cards. The leader then handed him an old bottle of scotch. Ivan smiled and examined it. He gave the leader a small bow. "Pleasure doing business with you." The rebel leader nodded and he and his men retreated into the supermarket with the crates and weapons.

Ivan turned on his heel and hopped into the truck. He hid the bottle and the ration cards beneath the center console. "Now that's what I call good business." He said to himself as he retrieved his shades from the cup holder and put them on. He keyed the ignition and began driving away.

"Val!"

Don't listen to them.

"VAL!"

They're calling for you, listen up.

"......."

Huh? They went silent! Quick! Be loud!

"... How could you leave me?"

... How could you leave me?

Val opened his eyes and rubbed at them. He looked at his surroundings to find them the same, as always. He stood up, almost tripping over himself, and stretched.

He walked, axe in hand, and climbed over various wrecked pieces of buildings till he reached the wall that separated Minumalis' like him from the more important people of the world. He sat down and stared at it like he always did, it became a habit. Call him an optimist, because he believed in LAST. That they could change the world for the better. He wasn't apart of it though, because he believed he wasn't important enough to join and if he did he would just be a burden. Besides, what would a Minumalis do in a group that wanted to free people? The answer was always blank for him, and because it's blank, that means there is no answer. A Minumalis couldn't do anything in there, to put it simply.

It was always like this everyday, he would sit here, with his positive and negative thoughts corrupting him in good and bad ways. The voices have been bothering him less and less lately, he only heard them when he closed his eyes now. His body and hair were covered in dirt and ash. He crossed his legs as he stared at the wall more. You should climb it. He shook his head, implying no. I think it's about time you should give up, ya'know? Just end your life now. Heaven's much better then here. He shook his head again, and they went silent.

The small scientist came sprinting out of her lab as she heard the noise of new crates slipping in undetected into the hideout. "Yay! A new shipment! Can I fix them up, huh, can I?! I've been experimenting with new weapon additions!"

The rebel leader mumbled something to the teeny woman about them not able to afford ruining the new equipment, to which Chrissy gasped in disbelief. "You think I would break them?! And what do you mean I overdo it, okay that one time I gave the rifle an AI, but it's not like I would do it again!!" The leader shot the scientist a look, causing the little thing to pout childishly and march away back to her lab to tinker.

"How dare he? I'm insulted! Just because I like eccentric weapons doesn't mean..." She grumbled, ducking under one of her new models of robots and opening it's back up to play with the circuits, having to clamber up onto a stool to do so.

Chrissy soon became too frustrated to focus. "Gyah! Why won't you woorrrkk? Maybe I used too much... No, if I use any less it wouldn't be able to move its arms! Oh, bah, I'll come back to you later." The scientist huffed, wiping off her hands and going out for a walk to clear her head. The lab became stuffy after a while and she needed fresh air to decide how to properly fix the new robot. Chrissy wandered towards a less monitored side of the wall, noting a small crack into the minumalis territory, Deadman's Land. The name gave her shivers. "Hm... Curiouser and curiouser..." The woman peered into the small opening, letting out a squeak of surprise as she saw someone sitting just about a few feet away on the other side. Should he be so close to the wall? The poor thing might get shot...

The scientist cleared her throat. "Um, excuse me? Hi there, over here through the opening here. Um, it's a bit dangerous for you to be so close to the wall." Chrissy said sweetly, nervous for the boy. At least... She thought it was a boy? It was sort of hard to tell from the limited sight the opening gave her.

Val jumped and got up so he was standing using his feet. He looked around, as he noticed that the female voice he had heard wasn't one of the voices. A new friend of theirs? No, no. He looked around a bit more when he noticed the crack, he got on all fours and crawled closer to the wall, but not enough for it to zap him yet. He stared at it and his eyes focused enough for him to see a human. So that's where the voice came from. He stared a bit longer before he put his hand up to his neck and his finger made two diagonal lines opposite from each other. He was trying to show her that he couldn't speak, he knew that she would get it. She just had too.

Okay, good it is a boy. It would be embarrassing if it wasn't... She thought with slight relief. Noticing the fingers, Chrissy only took a moment to dive into her expansive memory to recall what it meant. "Oh, you can't speak? Um... Hold on a second." Chrissy started patting at her lab coat with a hum of confusion.

"Where did I... Ah, here we are." The cute brunette pulled out a small metal square from one of the coat pockets and held it out flat on her palm. It began to unfold into a small robotic creature, the structure similar to a spider with eight spindly legs.

"Arachnee, defuse."

The creature hopped off her palm, sticking itself to the wall. A small almost invisible force field opened in a short radius just around the opening, the wall crackling around the area and stopping the electrical currents from going any further. Chrissy slipped a piece of yellow notepad paper and a thin pen through the wall. "It's a bit old fashioned, but my plasma pen is too big to fit through there. Can you write?" The little scientist asked curiously, cocking her head to the side. Minumalis usually aren't too educated, but he should be able to write a few words, shouldn't he?

Val stared at the little robot creature that seemed to not get zapped by the wall. The girl slipped yellow paper and a pen thing through the crack, "It's a bit old fashioned, but my plasma pen is too big to fit through there. Can you write?" She asked him. He nodded to her and smiled. Val took the yellow paper and pen into his hands. He stared at the paper for a while then finally wrote, 'I am Val. Wat is u name?', he finished with it and sent the paper back to her, keeping the pen in his left hand.

@Cherrywitch

Chrissy gave a happy look to know he could write. That certainly made things easier. She carefully read the paper, the handwriting actually decent enough to read. "Nice to meet you. My name is Christina Revley. You can refer to me as Chrissy, though. So, why are you so close to the wall? Aren't you scared you're going to get spotted?" The scientist questioned as she slid the paper back, now sitting on the floor in a childish criss-cross style and awaiting for the note to be returned with the new message. Her brunette eyes flicked to the little robot known as Arachnee, who seemed to be struggling to keep the electricity away from the opening in the wall. "Hang in there buddy." Chrissy whispered to the robot as if it could understand anything but orders. It was too small to actually have an AI implanted and it wouldn't be very useful anyway. The brunette looked back to the opening with curiosity.

@BennyAxC

Val wrote down his response as he smiled and snorted, 'Crissy is verry cute name. They too dumb too notice me :D . Why u here?' He sent the paper back to her and sat down as he stared more at the tiny robot. It was getting more cuter the longer he stared at it. You unpoliteful fuck. Why don't you introduce us to her? We wanna talk to!! He lightly shook his head, which only enraged them more and they continued chattering. His smile turned into a slight frown as he tried to focus on Christina's words.

@Cherrywitch

"Hehe, thanks." Chrissy replied quickly as the message took her about a second to read through. "Ah, well I just came out for a walk when I noticed this crack here." The scientist paused to point at it. "I'm a bit too curious for my own good." She gave a playful wink and knocked jokingly on her head with her knuckles. "You seem like you hang around here a lot... Well, there isn't much in there, is there?" The brunette gave a sad look. "Ah... I wonder if that's where I'm heading. By myself I'm not too strong... Hm, hey, Val, you know what LAST is, right?" Chrissy leaned in a little closer to whisper, as if someone could hear. "Well, we always pull Minumalis out of Deadman's Land to help in our efforts. Oh, shoot, I didn't tell you, huh? Well I'm a member, and if it is really hard for you, we can get you out of there and keep you safe here. We wish we could move all Minumalis but we don't have the room and most don't come close to the wall like you do. Whaddya think? Want to help us? You can just nod if yes." The brunette gave a cute little grin, her thoughts as usual going too fast for her mouth to keep up and scrambling her words, but it was still somewhat understandable.

@BennyAxC okay! See ya!

Val stared at her through the crack and listened to her explanation/babbling. Once she finished, the smile from his face completely vanished as the voices quickly took this opportunity to mess with his head more, Look at that, they actually take rats like you in., another piped in and said, She's lying to you! Like that one said, you are a rat! A rat for experimenting..., He sat there for three whole minuets, the voices getting louder and they all started mixing together that he could only make out some words through the ruckus. Then suddenly, it went quiet. They shutted up, only to be interrupted by one small voice, She's offering you a place to stay, she's offering you help. Just say- I mean, just nod already.

He nodded.

@Cherrywitch

At the silence, the woman seemed upset. Huh? Did I say something wrong? Maybe he didn't understand...? Did tongue tie myself again? Oh, I probably confused the poor guy! Chrissy started to twirl a piece of her soft brown hair around her forefinger with a pout, trying to remember what exactly she said and how to re-explain it in understandable terms. The scientist paused in her hair-twirling as she saw motion, realizing he had nodded. Chrissy smiled in relief. "Oh good. I thought I confused you. It happens a lot..."

The girl stood to her full five feet, pulling out a metal clip from her hair. "Alrighty, operation breakout commence. Arachnee, full power." The little insect like robot made a noise to approve her voice command, the force field growing to almost the height of the wall. Chrissy threw down the pin, it changing into another small robot creature with small shovels for hands. "Diggy, get to work!" The robot immediately broke through the defused wall's cement and tunneled under the barrier, popping through on the other side. The tunnel was just large enough for the boy. "Alright, hurry! Arachnee can't keep the defuse shield up much longer!" The scientist whispered urgently.

@BennyAxC

Val watched as Chrissy commanded the robot to do stuff. It made some sort of tunnel that looked to be his size. He jumped and quickly crawled through like she said. He made it to the other side and looked around, almost in amazement. He looked towards her and a huge smiled appeared on his face as he jumped on her and hugged her, being careful of his sharp nails.

@Cherrywitch

"Good job you two. Now return it to how you saw i-yahhh!" The small weak woman collapsed under his sudden hug, giving a pout as she landed roughly on her bottom. The robots perked their antennae up, but quickly replaced everything and turned back into a hair pin and a thin metal square. "Ah, you're welcome. Warn me before you tackle me next time, okay?" Chrissy said with a small sigh from her surprise, standing up and helping the boy up as well. Her brunette eyes scanned over him curiously, before she nodded in approval. "Good, you don't have any physical mutations. It will be much easier to sneak around." The scientist picked up the metal square and returned it to a random pocket before clipping the little pin back into her hair. "Alrighty Val, follow me. Oh, here." Chrissy paused to hold out a bulky item resembling some sort of pen. "It's a plasma pen. Click that little button and a screen will appear for you to write stuff on. Pretty neat, huh?" She grinned brightly at him.

@BennyAxC

Val nodded and let her help him up. Val looked around once more, "Alrightly Val, follow me. Oh, here." She held out a bulky item to him. He eagerly grabbed it and held it up to face, twirling it around and staring at it a lot more closely. He lowered the pen a little and pressed the button on it. A screen popped up in front of him, he smiled and wrote, "Thanqs u Crissy! It really neet. Ummm, were we going?"

@Cherrywitch

Chrissy peered over his arm at the message. "Hm? Oh, well to the LAST building. A lot of people live there, a lot of minumalis hide there too." The scientist explained and started to walk off towards the building. "I'll get you set up, and then mention you to the leader so you can join. You said you wanted to right?" She paused to looks back with a cock of her head.

@BennyAxC

He looks up from the screen and at her. He stared for awhile till the small voice said, Just nod you fool, he did as told and nodded. He looked back at the screen and wrote, "Wat is u leeder name? Wil they be oh kay with me there? Could I hav better cloths? I dont no if I want better cloths. Shoos wil be greate tho." You're writing way too much. Stop it. Also... Your writing sucks. He pouted a little, but stopped writing.

@Cherrywitch

But the girl seemed to not mind at all, giggling happily as she looked at the screen. "I'm glad you're liking the pen. Well, no one knows his real name, we just call him Leader. And I'm sure he'll have no issue, as I said we take in anyone in trouble. As for clothes, well, we can do more about that when we get to LAST. I'm sure we have extra clothes and shoes... If not, I'll get you some, okay?" Chrissy smiled up at him, looking more and more like a child and less like an educated adult. "So don't be sad. This will be a good day for you." She motioned to his pout with sweet eyes.

@BennyAxC

He copied her gaze and smiled at her also. He didn't notice her childish features, as he never really came across children growing up. He didn't even know what people considered "childish" behavior. As he brought the pen against the screen again, the voice said, I'm getting tired of looking at your writing. I'll help you with this next one. "Every day is a good day if I'm able to close my eyes and wake up again. Can we get going now? I'll like to get going." He wrote. Although he was confused with some words, like "I'm" and "I'll" because of the weird line in the middle of them, he didn't want to question the voice. They seem to know what they were doing.

@Cherrywitch

"Huh?" Chrissy's mouth opened in awe at the writing. "How... Did you-? Err, nevermind. Let's go then." The scientist scratched her head and started to walk off waiting for the other to follow her. She was confused though. How did he suddenly learn to write? Was it some latent side effect to Suparus? It was interesting, but she'd have to research it on her own later.

@BennyAxC should we wait for someone else to post?

Val tilted their head, but smiled and followed the girl. Even though he was following, he was stumbling about from place to place, as usual having a hard time walking. This caused him to be a few feet away from Chrissy. I can't help you in this situation bud. Dang it. If you try going slow though instead of trying to walk fast like her you'll probably walk decently. He tried really hard to focus on each step, which actually helped! Even by a little, he was directly behind her now.

@Cherrywitch I agree. I also agree that I need sleep or I'll end up looking like the girl in my profile pic. Anyway I'm going to bed. Byes!

Luka sat in his 'office' looking over papers and filing them accordingly, doing his job like the usual. Well...he considered his 'office' to be more of storage closet type place and it's not like nobody else was allowed in there so really it was something else....but 'office' was simpler and sounded more 'official'. So in his office that wasn't really much of one in actuality he worked silently because he sure wasn't going to talk to himself. He didn't need people to think he's gone off the deep end being that the ones that did were usually not doing well with the serum.

This did get boring constantly but it was what he had to do so he wasn't going to whine and groan about it. He was lucky that he was sitting there filing. He could have something more dangerous or more likely to blow up in his face....Not saying that filing wasn't dangerous with the paper cuts and terrors of putting a file in the wrong cabinet....sarcasm of course....Well now that he thought about it would it be dangerous for him to file wrong? What would happen if he was to do something like that?....Nothing too bad hopefully.

He wasn't going to try to figure it out though since he had no idea what would happen. He just sat there silently while waiting for absolutely nothing in specific. He wasn't really one for humming either so....

(Idk. I had a hard time figuring out what this post should be.)

Chrissy paused and looked behind her curiously, noticing his difficulty in walking. "Eh, I'm not too much of a walking crutch, but here." The little woman took his arm and pulled it around her shoulders. Though she couldn't take much of his weight due to her weak build, she still eased some of the trouble. "There we go, how does that feel? Easier now?" She glanced up hopefully at the boy.

@BennyAxC

@Kira Times you're character is a nurse too, so maybe he can see Chrissy and recognize her and approach them to see what she was doing?
