Brilliance, a flash of light and then they were gone.
Tobias had never been teleported before. The idea of jumping feet and miles in an instant astounded him, but he never volunteered to be the spell's target. Watching others go through the process, Tobias always imagined it would be a painful experience. It was a fast event - gone in a flash of light, a blink of an eye - but Tobias noticed how those under the spell had their bodies warped and bent right before they were gone. It just look unpleasant.
If it weren't so vital for him to jump into the magic circle, for Raina's sake, he never would have risked it. Still, all he remembered was Shangor's purplish eyes, the black form taking shape around his body. Then a flash and what smelled like burning metal and ash. That was before he hit the ground. He could particularly recall not being able to see. He figured that he must have appeared in the air. Otherwise, Tobias couldn't explain why he fell so hard onto the ground.
Everything went quiet after that with only the sound of water droplet awaking him. Opening his eyes, Tobias couldn't see the sky - or rather the ceiling - as the walls surrounding him reached into the air before disappearing in a black void. Rolling over, Tobias could examine his surrounding.
It seemed to be a cavern or some sort of cavernous passage. It wasn't dark, possessing a soft glow that emitted from what appeared to be moss and rocks. As well, the water had a shimmering quality to it. The sound of a waterfall could be heard in the distance.
It had been what Kayla could only guess was months since she was sent to this strange... maze. A maze that was not like a maze at all. There didn't seem to be a start or a finish, but more like places from worlds she couldn't imagine. Not only did it seem like different areas there were also different monsters. Some that Kayla had never seen before then. She tried to keep a few notes, but her books easily got destroyed and they were a pain to haul around. So she just had to commit them to memory.
She had been in the maze so long that her once white fur was not just muddy and dirty in may places. Her paws held some splitting, but not a lot. Though bathing in the stream was next on her list of things to do. It had been a while since he manage to track down so fresh looking water. Although being a large cat, 5'2 to be exact, water was not something she was scare of or hated. She enjoyed getting wet, only though when she had a sunny place to dry off.
Kayla had caught some rolly polly creature that was hard on the outside, but the meat was very soft and tender on the inside. It was just a pain to get to the inside. Though the smell was ranced. Awful. Specially to Kayla's sensitive smell. However food was food and survival was the name of this game. This was kind of like a game. Seeing and experiencing new things.
This had surely been an adventure on all adventures. However Kayla really wanted to go home. Sleep in her bed and eat a proper meal. Oh yes a proper meal of raw seared fish. Kayla could feel her mouth drooling at the thought of her favorite dish. So much so she could almost block out the smell of the rolly polly.
