I was thinking that Yui hired her in multiple occassions when she needs a helping hand for riskier times when she's taking on jobs as a private investigator. Probably hired her for the... borderline illegal times too. Vera does strike me as someone who wouldn't mind that as long as it's for the greater good in the end.
