Fantasy kingdom of Karth re-boot

"Oh, nowhere." The princess says lightly. In truth, she had been on her way to the kitches ro steal a bottle of wine, then go find her maid to talk. Anastasia was the only one she could really talk to anymore, the only one who she didn't have to pretend around.

"I was just trying to find my way to the gardens. Would you like to join me?" Elayna offered. She wasn't really sure if she wanted the princess to take her up on her offer. She had to ask though.

((Just now noticing all of my typos in that last post. I would like to formally apologize.))

"Of course. They are in the opposite direction, m'Lady." Illia holds back a laugh. It was not the girl's fault that she hadn't been in the castle before, after all. She leads the girl to the gardens, sipping from her goblet.

((It's okay.))

Elayna followed Illia's lead, gratefully. "The palace is beautiful, but it can be very confusing to navigate." Elayna looks down self consciously, unsure of what else to say.

"It is alright. I often got lost when I was young."
Illia, after showing Elayna to the gardens, meets Anastasia in the kitchens. She always made sure the maid was in fine clothing, fine enough that she could pass for a noble if she tried. Illia brings Anastasia back into the ball room, sitting with her and talking quietly. Illia said good things about Sir Julian, and Anastasia teased her about opening up to the knight in the future.

Julian approached the queen after a few dances with other noble ladies. "It is your day, your majesty. Surely you don't want to spend the celebrations sitting here all alone? Would you dance with me?" He asked.

Elise thought for a moment. Her sister did advise her to have fun. "Julian Gastov correct?" She asked, more stating really. She stood up and took his hand "Alright. A dance."

Julian led the queen onto the dance floor. "I was sorry to hear about your father." Julian said, placing his hand on her waist. "I know what it's like to lose a father. The king was taken from you much too soon."

Elise glided into the dance gracefully. "Yes," she said reverently, "yes he was. But Jach decided it was his time." Elise was actually really tired of talking about her father's death. Kt was depressing.

"You seem to be running the kingdom as well as he ever did. Is it hard, to run a country?" Julian asks her, remembering how sick he grew of people talking about his father after his death. Although Julian figured that the two situations were rather different. The queen actually liked her father.

Elise had been asked this question many times before also. "Well, not so far, but i haven't been faced with any particularly troubling situations" and she answered it as she always did.

"It must be a lot of work, though. What do you do for fun, to relax?" Julian asked, starting to lead Elise in the dance. The song was somewhat fast paced, Julian had to concentrate a bit to keep tempo.

Elise thought about it. she was only relaxed when she was absorbed in her studies and only having fun when she was talking with her sisters. "I like studying. The atainment of knowledge always puts me at ease."

Illia sits back and watches the couples dance, glad to see her sister up and having fun. She sighs and takes a sip of wine. "Honestly, I do not think there is enough wine in all of Karth to allow me to have fun at a ball." She mutters to Anastasia, who sits next to her.

The maid laughs. "Be yourself, you will see. People will like the real you if you let them. Then you will have fun." Anastasia says, wise beyond her years.

"Studying? What do you enjoy studying?" Julian asked. Studying didn't seem like the sort of thing ladies did. At least from what he knew. His sister had been taught how to play the harpsichord, how to dance and sew, the basics of reading and writing but not much else. Although his mother was a little better, she had to be to run the household, she still sent most of her time weaving or spinning. Julian couldn't imagine what ladies needed to study.

Elise laughed slightly "I enjoy intrigue, history, geography, politics, war studies, religions. Anything really." She supposed that was a little strange, but oh well..

"That sounds very interesting, your majesty." Julian said, although he found studying in any form to be rather dull. He thought it was not to mention how strange a pastime it was for a noblewoman, for fear of offending her. "Tell me more about yourself."

Elise shook her head "no, we musnt talk about me another second. Tell me about you. For instance: what do you enjoy doing?"

"I enjoy fencing, archery, jousting, horseback riding. I've spent most of my time earning my knighthood." Julian tells Elise. The music has become somewhat slower now. "And... well, you'll think me quite silly."

Elise smirked "no. I wont, I swear." She loved thibgs like this. Apart fro studying, she enjoyed collecting secrets. She had collected many secrets from sutors who wanted to charm her.

"I've started whittling. Nothing much just little wood carvings." Julian told her, a little embarrassed. He wasn't sure why he was telling her this, he usually kept his odd hobby to himself. "Mother thinks it is a waste of time, and that it's peasant work besides. But I like that I can take any old bit of wood and make beautiful something out of it, with my own two hands. Like I said, silly."

Elise smiled warmly and shook her head. "No, its not! Its an art. It requires skill and inspiration, just like painting or playing the lute. Its perfectly okay." She softly laughed "i wish i had enough skill to do that."

"It's really nothing special." Julian says again. He didn't like the attention Elise was giving him. Julian always preferred it when no one took notice of him. He tried to change the subject again. "Surely there must be something you are skilled at. Something you don't like to talk about?"

Illia bites her lip and walks through the dance floor, not wanting to take the time to go around. Someone knocks into her and she falls into a dancing couple... who just so happened to be Julian and her sister. "Watch it!" She says angrily, to the person who knocked into her. They were profusely apologizing when she turned to see who she had bumped into. "Oh! Your Highness, Sir Julian. My apologies."

"Your highness, I am so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." Julian apologized. He let go of the queen's hand and stepped back.
