Just gonna dump art here

I'm trying to make a VN in 9 days and I haven't been feeling so good about it, so I'm just going to dump some of my art assets in here. Maybe posting it somewhere will make me feel pressured about completing it as soon as possible, haha.

Just sprites, sprites, sprites so far. Game's set in a hospital if it isn't obvious enough already.

I do commissions so if anyone's interested, just PM me. My rates and more samples are here. I haven't updated my thread but I'm accepting illustration work at the moment.

Anyway, I'll probably dump random art that I finish in this thread. Don't expect anything colored; I usually just sketch unless it's work or for my projects. ^q^

Nice coloring, I love how it's clean and all! You did a pretty great job especially on the third one.

Thank you! ovo

@SubSonicSausage

Same layer. No masking or overlay. If I want extra colors over it, I just take a brush, lock transparency, and then brush them straight in.

You wouldn't believe just how much easier you've made my life...

Like about -15 minutes wasted on careful tracing of every little fold. :)

Damn. You have wonderful use of color and good proportions. The is like professional work here. Im just starting to get into doing my own digital work, so I'm a little jealous. Any tips for a beginner who just has a laptop and a wacom?

Glad to hear it cut down on your time! I tend to take the fastest way possible, too (but it still doesn't stop me from being slow as a turtle). Usually I just do everything in one layer like painting, but for cellshading work, it's just not possible to get crisp, clean art without lots of layers of some kind. I mean, it's possible, but not without a lot of time...

Hey, thanks a lot! I'm using Wacom and a laptop myself. ^^

Hmm, tips are: work on a big canvas when you lineart or do your final work. It's easier to shrink an image and maintain quality than it is to blow it up. You get a lot more leeway when it comes to mistakes like going over the line or forgetting to color tough spots with a bigger canvas than a smaller one. ^q^/ I usually do my final work on 250% the target size (linearting with a 3px brush), then just shrink everything down to 40% when I'm done. It'll be just like drawing with a 1px brush at the end of it all!

Also, try to look up artists that inspire you and learn some of their techniques. Not saying you should trace your idols or whatever, but try to figure out how they do things like shading, color choice, linework, lighting, etc. Try to make it so every drawing is an experiment to learn something new, and you'll improve a lot in no time at all!

Try to study real life once in a while, too. You'll stagnate if you just draw whatever comes into your head without learning from other pieces/real life. Learn to recognize and break things down to their basic shapes, and at the same time, practice making unbroken strokes and getting good with drawing shapes. Also, I've seen amazing realism artists that can't draw pieces straight from their head, so you should practice that, too. ^^; Drawing what you see is an entirely different skill from manipulating scenes from your head and putting it down on paper.

Anyway, you should really never stop studying or trying new things, so just keep up with drawing, no matter what! :) You'll always improve with each piece you make as long as you put in effort to get better!

Thanks for the advice! The size thing is something I've seriously been wondering about.

Hopefully in the next few days I'll post some of my own work, and I'd love a critique.
