Just Another Pokemon Adventure (1x1 with BinaryDelusions and WindRoda)

Arius had gone to the pokemon center and healed up his pokemon. At first, the Rattata was afraid of the pair when it was released from the ball, and it had tried to escape. The pokemon had nearly run onto the road before Riolu swooped in and saved it. Unlike with Eevee, Riolu didn't seem competitive or jealous, but was actually friendly and calm. Arius fiigured it must have sensed the frightened nature of the Rattata- it wasn't particularly strong, in fact it only knew the basic moves, so it must have just gotten to the age of leaving the nest for food. Arius wondered what it's family would think when the Rattata didn't return.


After having offered it some food, the Rattata had calmed down. The three were now sitting in the nearby park, enjoyng a small lunch. Riolu spoke animatedly to the Rattata who listened quietly while chewing on it's food. "So, Rattata," Arius began after a moment, "I know you're probably scared, but don't worry. You're a part of our team now, and I'm going to take good care of you." Arius gently stroked the top of it's head, and at first the little rat flinched before warming to the feeling of being pet.


Once lunch was over, Arius decided to head over to the path that lead to the E4-Route 22. The competitive season wouldn't be for a while, so it wouldn't be swarming with trainers, but it did have some low level pokemon to train on. Arius trained his Rattata with Riolu together, having Riolu jump in inf Rattata was needing help. The new pokemon was rather timid, but was starting to get into the swing of things. 'I need to find another pokemon' Arius thought to himself. Just as the thought entered his mind, Riolu stiffened, and stared into the brush before leaping in, while Rattata scampered behind Arius. A Spearow soared into the air with loud cries, and Riolu sprang after it with a quick attack. Arius watched in amazement as Riolu was airborne, and the Spearow struck savagely with fury attack. "RIOLU!" Arius cried as it started to fall, but Riolu was prepared, and struck back with counter, slamming the Fearow into the ground. Arius fumbled for his bag. he'd bought more pokeballs, and this Fearow would definitely be able to be caught easily. It struggled to move-it was pretty hurt. Arius tossed the ball, and it snapped shut a few moments later. Arius picked up the pokeball and patted Riolu. "Good job, but you need to let me give you instructions, ok? don't want you to get hurt." Riolu stared at the ground, annoyed, but eventually sighed and nodded. Aruis gave a nervous smile. Riolu could be a little headstrong, but it would definitely be best to get the first badge soon. He didn't want his pokemon thinking of him as a weak trainer. As Arius headed back into town, he wondered idly how Harmony was doing. By now his pokemon were all about level ten- and the fearow was just at nine according to his Dex app. Surely he could get a battle started with her-maybe show her a thing or two about how to really train their pokemon.

I smiled at my pokemon's progress. Ratata was the fastest of the group. His quick attack made it easy for him to gain the upper hand in battles. Eevee was enamoured by his speedy movements and would often try and practice on doing Quick Attacks herself. So far she's doing good, but often would get started in the middle of her run towards enemies and backtrack a little.


Pidgey was a whole other challenge. It was hard to figure out how to train Pidgey to use the wind to his advantage. I tried a few times to show him how to do it, but I think I just ended up looking silly. He managed to make a small gust once, but he's still working on it.


It was getting dark, but I wanted to try and teach Eevee a little more about Growling. She often got nervous in battle, making her growls sound more like squeaks. "You can do it Eevee," I assured her, "you gotta believe in yourself and feel confident about winning. Stand your ground like this-"


I slammed both of my feet in the ground. "Look the enemy straight in the eye and then GROWL."


Eevee followed my movement, pressing her feet down into the ground, staring me in the eye and giving a loud squeak. "Close, but you need to be a little deeper. Pretend you're a vicious pokemon, ready to strike! Now try it again! GROWL!"


"EEEEEEEEE!"


"YOU CAN DO IT EEVEE!"


"EEVEE!" she growled.


I was kinda startled at the sound that came out of her. I think she actually surprised herself. I couldn't help but laugh. "That was great Eevee! Keep growling like that and pokemon will be scared to come near you."


Eevee brightened up at that and growled again. I nodded and looked towards the sunset. "Its getting pretty late. We should probably spend the night at the pokemon center tonight. Hopefully we'll be able to make it by dark."

As much as Arius had wanted to go to route 2 and find another Pokemon, it had gotten dark, and it would be best to rest up and book a room in the pokemon center. His father had always said, when you can get a room at the pokemon center, GET IT. They tended to fill up quickly as people taking on later gyms would hang around for a few days to train up, and a warm bed with a guaranteed hot meal was much better than spending another night out in the forest with cold canned beans.Arius waited for his pokemon to return from the hands of the nurse, and it wasn't long before he'd gotten a room booked. There was plenty of space, so there wouldn't be any wierd "forced to share a room with your rival" pr "double booking" sort of messes. THose sort oof events always struck Arius as weird. That never happened in real life.

Harmony had managed to get a room before taking a small break at one of the local diners. The food was very similar to stuff she had eaten back at home: no surprise, since it was so close by. She hadn't seen anything really exotic in this town, but maybe the next one will be different? Either way, she'll need some rest before she moved on to the next town and walked straight back to her home. And when she got there, she found Arius. Unlocking the room next to her's. "Oh. Hello again."

 

[WindRoda]

"Hello," Arius said cooly, as he unlocked his door. He'd put all of his pokemon away before arriving at his room, and was about to ignore her and continue on inside, before blurting out. "I don't suppose you're going to apologize for your rude behavior and accusations against my Pokemon from earlier today, are you?"


Arius wasn't really one to be a bully, and he certainly didn't intend to be mean to the girl every time he saw her, but he had to admit it always bugged him when people made baseless claims. Or questioned his competence as a trainer. Riolu was working so hard-why shouldn't he defend his partner?

I was kinda startled by that and for a long time I didn't speak. "Yeah. I am sorry. I shouldn't have reacted that way. I was really startled by your pokemon and I just started speaking without thinking."


I looked at his hand on the door. "Looks like our rooms are right next to each other. Seems weird how we keep meeting each other doesn't it?"

Arius was surprised. He'd expected her to be much more stubborn.


"H-huh?" he replied, distracted. "O-oh. Yeah. Weird. Well, I guess, I mean, we started at the same time, so we'll probably see each other around for a while." Arius fidgeted for a moment. "Listen, I guess I should apologize too, for being rude, I mean. You're just a rookie, so I can't expect you to really know any...er, how do you say? Manners? Something like that." Arius shook his head. "Anyways, I think I'll turn in...goodnight."

"O-oh yeah. Goodnight."


I left and entered my room. Eevee had been following me the entire time. It felt weird having pokemon in balls. I often debated on letting pidgey and ratata out too. It shouldn't be a problem in my room right.


I tossed their balls to the ground and let them out, and started going through my things. I spent a long time just trying to figure out if there was a better way to pack. The bag dad had given me was a cluttered mess, and my backpack could hold some of the stuff. I still ended up with half a bag full but it was a lot easier carrying it on my back than in my arms.


"I think you guys deserve a treat for such a good job of training."


I pulled out several pokepuffs I had bought at a local store. I got several flavors so hopefully all the pokemon would find something they like. "I can't do this all the time but seeing as our first day has gone so well we might as well have a little celebration and get to know each other right?"


The pokemon all got really happy as I began unwrapping the pokepuffs. They came in seperate bags for 50 a piece. Not a big price but later when I have more pokemon, this was going to cost a lot. Hopefully I'll be able to make enough money that it won't be trouble but for now my focus needed to be on just making a profit. How do trainers decide on money anyway? Do they talk it over? Is there a standard? I guess I'll just have to figure it out over time.
