Just Another Pokemon Adventure (1x1 with BinaryDelusions and WindRoda)

Welcome to the world of Pokemon- oh wait you've probably already heard that line. Either way, welcome to Pallet town, the starting point of our adventure where two unlikely friends will team up and explore the world of pokemon together.

This is an rp for myself and WindRoda. We're not sure how often we'll be able to rp, but we're gonna try and do it as much as we can.

@WindRoda , get ready. ouo

It was a beautiful Saturday morning in Pallet Town. Trainers and non-trainers alike were going about their business, be it grocery shopping or getting ready for their next stop on their Gym League Challenge. This year was rather important- the Elite Four, Kanto's most prized and powerful trainers-had once again opened their doors to the idea of the Kanto World Championships. Essentially, it allowed trainers from all across the world to partake in a tiered system of battling, before the greatest of common trainers was given the right to challenge the Four themselves- all on live TV! The World Championships themselves only ever happened a few years apart-if the prior years challengers were lacking or not too strong themselves. It was a good way to promote young people to pursue a career in Pokemon Training. For someone like Arius, who's grown up watching the event whenever possible, it was definitely a means of inspiration.

The young man had grown up on the north side of Pallet Town, not too far from the surrounding woods. While not as heavily populated as Viridian forest, the local woods were always met with caution. As the local children grew older, however, that caution was often thrown to the wind, and many would come to romp about in the glade. Arius himself had grown up with a pet Poochyena-a contest breed imported from Hoenn at the request of his mother before he was born- and so he rarely feared the wilds, often parading about with the jolly pokemon, impressing his friends with it. Of course, Casey didn't actually belong to him, it was his mothers, but the Pokemon had been a big part of Arius' life, and the two were close friends. the now Mightyena, gentle as a lamb, was one of the reasons Arius had been considering leaving Pallet Town himself. He was much older than the "average" trainer: Ten seemed to be the age most kids went out to see the world, and while the young dark haired boy had always fancied going out himself, he was all too aware of the dangers in the wild. Arius' father had completed the Kanto Gym Challenge, and the boy had grown up on stories of hard camping trips and tough scrapes. He was seventeen now, but as hype for the Wold Series grew, he couldn't help but feel the stirrings and desire to set out on a journey of his own.

This was a perfect time to request a pokemon from the lab. The Championships were months away, and many last minute trainers were finally rushing over to request a pokemon of their wn, in hopes of taking part in the tournament. Arius, still debating, decided to head over to the lab himself, and check out the competition.

I rushed as quickly as possible to finish preparing for my travels. I pulled my golden hair into a messy bun, slipped on my jeans, my blue sweater, and some vans, and checked over everything in my backpack again.

Extra clothes. Check. Underwear. Check. Travel guide. Phone. Wallet. Check, check, and check. Everything seemed to be in order but then I realized: food. I need food for travelling.

I gathered up my backpack and rushed downstairs. I could hear my dad singing out of tune downstairs as he began fixing the morning bread. My house is built on top of a bakery that sells things for both humans and pokemon, and I've seen people and pokemon from all over the place come here. My family doesn't own any pokemon: they were always worried about me getting hurt if there were pokemon in the house. But I always wanted one, and seeing those trainers with theirs always made me want that even more. I've been begging since I was 10 years old to get my own, to go out and see the world and everything in it, and now I've finally been given that chance. Dad smiled at me when I reached the bottom of the staircase. "Well, you got all fixed up faster than normal. You must be really excited, Harmony."

"Of course I'm excited Dad! I've been waiting for this moment my entire life!"

I started looking through the fridge downstairs for food to bring on my travels. Granola bars, cookies, couple of water bottles, trail mix, beef jerky. "I hope you don't plan on just eating junk food on your journey Harmony."

"Of course not! I plan on eating at every town and city I visit, so this'll only be for when I'm travelling."

"You're gonna need a lot more than that sweetheart. Hang on let me help you."

Dad pulled up next to me and began pulling out canned foods and soups from the fridge. "This isn't like taking a walk to the local park, you're gonna end up spending a few nights outside in the wilderness too. I've got some old camping supplies you can use, but you might wanna buy your own later. A tent, matches, lighter... you'll probably need a pot for some of this stuff."

"But Dad that's already so much stuff my backpack can't fit all of that in there."

"Don't worry I bought a couple of bags just in case of this. Didn't you listen to me when I told you about all the stuff you were going to need? We had several discussions about this."

"O-Of course I remember! Just... I may have forgotten."

Dad sighed. "This is why I was afraid of letting you go before. You always tend to do things without really thinking about them. I'm always worried about you," He looked at me with a concerned face, "I know you've been wanting this for a long time and I agreed to let you go, but I'm still worried about you. Promise me if you ever need help or someone to talk to that you'll call me. I'd hate for anything bad to happen to my little girl."

"... Ok Dad," I said. I didn't think anything was going to go wrong. How could it? This was my time to finally go out and explore the world. And there's a town pretty close by already, how hard could it be to get to the other places?

After a few more minutes, I ended up with a backpack and bag full of stuff. The bag was really heavy, but I was too excited about going out on an adventure to let the weight get to me. Dad gave me a long hug before finally letting me rush out to the professor's lab. I knew he would be worried about me until I talked to him again. Once I finally got travelling I promised myself that I would call him, but for now, my adventure was finally about to begin.

Arius was walking behind a girl struggling horribly with her backpack.

The bakery was en-route to the lab, and as he'd crossed the street, Arius noticed a girl leaving the shop, her bag stuffed to the brim. The young man wondered if it was as messy inside as it looked from the outside. Arius continued walking at his own pace, but found the antics of the girl much too amusing. She had to be heading for the lab as well- they were waking in the same direction, and she was decked out in all the typical trainer gear. She seemed to be struggling, but her pep made her oblivious to the bag's weight. Watching her made Arius wonder about what he would have to pack, if he decided to go on a journey. Spare clothes and food for sure. A sleeping bag, and the typical trainer gear such as potions, pokeballs, and (if he could afford it) tms. Thankfully, he was already wearing a trainer's belt. It had belonged to his father some years ago, but it was still in good shape, and would be great for holding his own team. Really, it was the only accessory needed by trainers, aside from Trainer Gear, but there were so many types of those, and they all did the same thing:Make phone calls, automatically transfer caught Pokemon to your PC boxes, check the time, blah blah blah. The only difference was how it was formatted.

Arius followed the girl into the lab, and began to look around. No doubt, the top three trainers of this years Trainer School class would have gotten the "Kanto Starters" long ago-they would be adequately trained by now, and were probably already prepared for the tournament. If they hadn't already beat the Elite 4. But, there were usually some of the three left behind, for later starting trainers.

I wasn't sure what to feel about the boy who followed me. Looks like he's also seeking out a pokemon, but it was a bit awkward having him follow me around. I swear I heard him snicker a few times while following me. But then again, I probably look silly with a heavy bag and a backpack. There's probably a better way to carry all this stuff but she didn't have that now. All she had was her heavy packs of stuff and her enthusiasm to become a trainer.

She found it strange that there wasn't many people in the lab. Doesn't everyone in Pallet get their pokemon from here? Maybe even from other places too? She was expecting more people: instead it seemed like it was only the two of them. She kept hoping the professor would come soon. Really soon. Her bag was getting heavy. And her energy was draining fast.

Arius waved at the few of the aides. Some gave him puzzled looks. His silence and aimlessness suggested he was expecting something, but there probably wasn't anything scheduled for today. One of the aides began to approach Arius, and for a moment his eyebrows raised in polite curiosity as he wondered wht would happen next. But he quickly realized the aide was not approaching him, but rather the girl.

"Hello," the Aide said, adjusting her glasses. You must be the new trainer, right?"

"Ah, yes!" I said, giving a quick bow. "I hope I'm not too late I spent this morning making sure I had everything I needed before coming here."

"I see that," the aide said, looking at the bag in her hand. She glanced over to the boy next to me. "And are you here for a pokemon too?"

"M-me?" Arius replied, a little startled. He'd expected to be ignored, and hadn't really planned on getting a pokemon today, or ever. "U-uh, well, I suppose I am. I, uh, just wanted to see what you had available, I guess. I'm...not sure if I'm prepared for a journey..."

The aide nodded understandingly. "It's a very big decision, not for everyone. Now, why don't you two follow me? I'll lead you to the yard where some of our pokemon are available for adoption."

Arius followed along, shyly keeping his face to the ground. He wondered what Pokemon would be available. Son the aide stopped and a division in the hallway. "Alright. Since you-" the aide pointed to the girl "have an appointment, we'll deal with you first. If we head to the right, we'll enter the room with the traditional starters: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. However, if we continue on aheaad, we can find some less traditional pokemon. Which would you like to choose from?" The aide glanced at Arius " we can deal with you shortly after, sir." The boy merely nodded and stared patiently at the girl. "I'm sure you'll choose wonderfully.

"What do you mean less traditional?" I asked.

I had known about Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle as they were the ones shown on TV whenever the pokemon lab was releasing pokemon to new trainers. But there's more options than that? She had planned on getting a Squirtle because it was super cute, but now she was really curious about what these other pokemon were too.

"You're free to take a look at them first if you want to think it over," she said, guiding us out into the field. "You may come too young man. She gets the first pick, but you can still check them out yourselves."

Arius followed along, curious himself. The field was large, and some Pokemon were seen playing about, and frolicking in the sunlight. "These pokemon were bred for general research," the aid explained. "Like our usual starters, they've been kept until mature enough to go off with a trainer." Arius watched the pokemon play about. It was hard to really get a feel for each of their personalities with them playing all together. The young man wondered if they were raised to be excited to be picked, like the usual starting pokemon. The aide began calling each of the young pokemon over, and soon they had all lined up.

"Eevee, Azurill, Ralts, Riolu, Axew, and Espurr..." Arius mumbled to himself. He wondered which pokemon he would choose. the Eevee and Riolu caught his eye rather quickly, but perhaps that was because of how popular each breed was in competitive circles. Arius secretly hoped one of those could be saved for him, and began to daydream which pokemon he'd have to choose from, if one or the other was taken. Espurr and Ralts weren't too bad either, and could be great with some training. "You can choose any one of these," the aide explained to the pair.

Some of these pokemon I recognized immediately. Eevee was a pokemon I had seen plenty of times in the bakery. It was a popular pokemon breed and there were plenty of people who would willingly pay hundreds of dollars for one.

Azurill was also a pokemon I saw a lot of too. Or at least Marrill, its evolved form. It was a very popular pokemon choice for children, and I can definitely see why with such an adorable little face.

I have seen a Ralts before as well, but it was really shy around people so I wasn't sure what to expect with one. Riolu was popular with people who actively trained pokemon, but it was also a pokemon my father hated. Mainly cause one threw a temper tantrum in the bakery and we ended up having to replace a lot of furniture. I don't think Dad would like me picking out one of them.

Axew and Espurr were new to me. Axew was a bit strange looking, and Espurr just looked... creepy. Like I don't think the pokemon ever blinked when I watched it. It would be so cute without those eyes.

Eevee and Azurill were the ones that kept coming back to my attention. They were both really cute pokemon, but the more I kept thinking about it, the more my eyes were set on Eevee. It was just too cute, and to get one of them for free? Not many people would get that chance. "I'd like the eevee," I said, the pokemon's ears perking up when I called its name.

"Ah, a wonderful choice. Popular and can take on many different evolutions too. A good pokemon partner to start out with," the aide said. "And what about you, young man? Any of these catching your interest?"

"O-oh..." Arius deflated a little when Eevee was chosen. He'd always been a fan of the forms it could take, but what was done was done. Eevee was out of the question. He'd have to catch one later. Arius eyed the other Pokemon. It really wouldn't be fair of him to choose a pokemon like Charmander or Bulbasaur, since he wasn't a "new" trainer. But, it was clear the Riolu had picked up on his disappointment, and it stuck it's nose in the air, crossing it's paws. This Riolu clearly hated being second best. Arius looked over the other pokemon once more. Despite Azumarill's cuteness, he really couldn't justify picking it, and Espur looked so....so...Arius swallowed as he looked into the pokemon's eyes. It was almost as if they were soulless. So that really only left Axew, and yet....

"I think I'll take Riolu," Arius said quietly, trying his best to smile at the pokemon. It gave him a jaded look, but eventually uncrossed it's arms. Maybe it coould understand that Arius wasn't a mean person, just a little particular.

The aide nodded and requested they go wait out in the lobby area while she prepared everything. "Just register with the woman at the front desk, and we'll get the pokemon ready for you."

I walked side by side with that strange guy all the way to the front desk. There were so many papers to fill out, but eventually everything was sorted and registered. The woman excused herself for a minute to collect a couple more things for us before we left. I could hear the clock ticking loudly in the silence. The guy next to me just kept looking around. Apparently he was just as confused as I was about what to do. I figured I might as well say something to him to pass the time. "So, umm," I started, "my name is Harmony. What's yours?"

"Arius," the boy replied, "It's nice to meet you." He was quiet for another moment. It wasn't that he was bad at making friends-he'd always been very sociable, it was just that he was so distracted with his own thoughts. He'd just gotten a Pokemon. They'd be here any minute, and then...well, then what? What could he do? Take the gym challenge of course. Arius shook the thoughts away, and spoke again. "So, you're a new trainer, huh? You must be nervous. It was smart of you to choose Eevee...I, uh, kind of have a soft spot for them myself...To be honest, I was thinking of picking that one."

Arius listened along to Harmony until the Aide returned. "Here are your pokemon," she said as she handed each new trainer their Pokeballs. "You also get these." The aide held up some small sim-cards. "These can be inserted into most versions of pokegear, including the Poketch and Pokenav or Pokemon Plus. It acts as an encyclopedia of pokemon, but, it's not a pokedex." Arius took his sim card, confused. "Er, then, what is it exactly? It sure sounds like a pokedex..."

The aide smiled. "Well, in a sense, it is. You see, only three pokedex are made each year, to go with the top three from each graduating class. these are pokedex-esque, but they've already got all the information needed, such as moves a pokemon can learn and where to find them."

Arius was quiet for a moment as he clutched his pokeball against his chest. 'So...what's the difference?" The aide laughed. "These are cheaper to make, more easily manufactured, and you already have all the pokemon data you need. Plug it into a Gear device, you'll see." Arius nodded and put the card into his pocket before looking at his pokeball. "W-well, I have to go home and get my things..."

I watched Arius walk out for a bit before I focused my attention back on the card. I felt around my pockets for a minute for my Pokemon Plus. I saved a lot of money to buy this thing because I wanted to make sure I had the best one for my journey. Well at least right now: these things were constantly being updated. I put the card in and it immediately began downloading the program. Soon I saw a long list of numbers and then... dashes. No pokemon pictures. No names. Nothing.

"When you first recieve these, you won't be able to see many pokemon. You'll have to scan the pokemon themselves in order to see them or trade information with other trainers using the program. This is to help encourage trainers to explore the world and find and challenge other trainers. Try it out on your eevee right now."

I pulled out my pokeball and released Eevee, who just sat and watched me as I aimed the Pokemon Plus at her. A loud ding sound let out followed by a robotic female voice. "Eevee, the Evolution Pokemon. Eevee has an unstable genetic makeup that suddenly mutates due to the environment in which it lives. Radiation from various stones causes this Pokémon to evolve."

"And that's not all. It can also tell you all your eevee's stats and even what moves it knows. There should be a details option in the pokedex program. Try it."

The button was in the upper right of the pokedex, visible no matter where in the pokedex I was at. "Eevee. Female. 1'0''. 13.9 lbs. Known attacks: Growl, Tackle, Tail Whip, Sand Attack."

"If you have an HM or TM you can also find out which pokemon can learn those moves. If you don't have either of those you can manually look up the attacks yourself and see. Pokemon on your team that know the move can train others to use the move, however the trainee pokemon must be able to physically learn that move. If you have any questions, you can always contact us from the lab here at anytime. Let me put the lab's phone number in your pokemon plus."

She quickly put the number in before bidding me farewell. I walked out slowly, watching the little Eevee follow me around. Now that I have my pokemon, I needed to figure out exactly what to do next.

Arius quickly finished putting away the last of his essentials in his backpack. it was significantly smaller than Harmony's bag, but it was definitely well packed. Riolu was sitting on Arius' bed, looking around, while Casey sniffed and scratched at the door. Arius' mother had burst into tears when she had heard Arius would be leaving today, now, but his father had calmed her down, and soon the two were brimming with pride. His mother had even cooed over Riolu, how had puffed out his chest a bit at the attention. The short walk back home and the exploration of the house had let Riolu warm up to Arius. It was rather relieving, the young man wasn't quite sure what he'd do if his pokemon wanted nothing to do with him.

After a tearfull farewell with his parents, Arius and Riolu set out towards the town boarders. "Don't be too worried about your first wild battle," Arius said to the Riolu, who turned it's nose up. "Aww, c'mon little guy, I didn't mean it like you were weak, I just meant you might be nervous if you haven't battled before. I'm sure you'll do fine." he pattet the pokemon's head, and it puffed up its cheeks, embarrassed. "We're a team now, so we'll be working together to become good fighters."

It was then that Riolu suddenly stopped, and stared. Across the street it was Harmony, with her Eevee. "Oh...it's that girl, with the Eevee...Man, she sure is lucky she got a pokemon with a lot of potential..." Arius sighed. At this, Riolu's cheeked ballooned once more, and it dashed across the street. "R-Riolu, wait!!" Arius cried, racing after his pokemon. The Riolu dashed in front of the pair and clenched its paw, glaring at the Eevee. "RIO!" the pokemon shouted, and pointed at the opposing starter. "Rio, rio-rio!!"

"R-Riolu!" Arius gasped, mortified. "C'mon, you can't take everything so seriously!" Arius scratched his head, embarrassed. "I-I'm really sorry, Harmony. I think Riolu's the jealous type."

Eevee and I were just making our way to the town border when Riolu rushed in front of us. It startled the two of us greatly, with Arius rushing close behind and apologizing for his pokemon's behaviour. Eevee started to shake and slowly moved behind me, trying to hide from the angry pokemon. "B-But why?" I asked, "why is he jealous of little Eevee? More importantly why is it trying to scare her?"

"Well, we happened to see you from across the way, and I mentioned how Eevee has a lot of potential. I guess he got kind of jealous about it." Arius' eyebrows came together, a tad offended. "Hey may be jealous but Riolu isn't a bully. He's trying to challenge your Eevee to a battle. To prove himself, I suppose." Arius instinctively rubbed Riolu's head. "Though, it wouldn't be fair to challenge you know. Riolu's obviously faster and stronger- and he's got the type advantage. Fighting's pretty much the only thing strong against normal." At this, Riolu puffed out its chest and crossed its arms, sticking its nose up in the air with pride.

"Even if he is stronger than Eevee, don't trainers have to be the one that asks for a battle not their pokemon? Maybe you should actually teach your Riolu that before it actually hurts something," I glared at Arius before picking up my little Eevee. "Besides, even with that on your side, Eevee isn't exactly a fighter. Look how scared she is."

My Eevee tried to bury its head into my arms, its body shaking. I did want to participate in pokemon battles some, but it was obvious that she wasn't ready for it now. I gently pet it, trying to reassure her.

Arius let out a scoff of disbelief, and crossed his arms. "First off, pokemon are living things, just like us. They're going to want things or not want things, and we can't force them to feel or not feel certain ways. Secondly, if Riolu had wanted to just attack your pokemon, it would have done so outright. He's actually got a lot more control than you think-he offered a challenge. That's more than you'll get from wild pokemon. And thats ANOTHER thing!" Arius jabbed an accusing finger at Harmony and her Eevee. "Your pokemon didn't even try to protect you! If you think you'll last more than two minutes in wild territory with that, then you've got another thing coming!" Arius shook his head. "Honestly, are you trying to pick a fight!?"

Riolu let out a cynical snort, and shrugged. "C'mon, Riolu," Arius said, annoyed. "Theres no point in even trying to fight these guys-it wont yeild too much exp anyways."

"Jeez, what's with that guy?" I said as he walked off.

Eevee's head popped up during his rant and I could tell she had gotten upset at that. I began petting her once more. "Its ok Eevee. We're going to be fine. He's just trying to upset us."

Still he was right: we would be in trouble if a lot of wild pokemon came after us. We would have to be careful for a little bit before we even considered going really far.

Maybe. Maybe Dad was right about me not being ready? I hadn't really considered the chance that my pokemon wouldn't be able to protect me. More importantly, I don't think I could protect Eevee.

I shook my head of the thoughts. "Ugh, what does that guy know anyway?! Its not like he's actually got that much experience compared to me! We'll just train nearby by ourselves. Its not that far of a walk away from the next town anyway, we'll be just fine."

Eevee began wagging her tail at me. "Looks like you're excited too. Well then, let's start coming up with a training plan!"

Arius and Riolu had walked off into Route 1 soon after the exchange. "Alright Riolu, this part of training is pretty simple. I know you're not too used to fighting yet but dont worry. Most of the pokemon around this area are really low level, so they shouldnt be to hard to take down!"

The pokemon nodded vigourously. And began scanning the area, eager to jump in. "First things first-lets stay away from pidgey. They have flying type attacks and we cant do much abou-Riolu?" The pokemon was tugging on Arius' pant legs excitedly, pointing in a direction. A Rattata tail as emerging from the grass. "Ok, lets get it!" The pair charged inot the battle and the Rattata, caught of gaurd, let out a squeak in suprise. "Sorry little buddy, but its battle time! Ok Riolu, quick attack!"

The pokemon complied, and charged into the rattata, knocking it to the ground. "Ok, once more!"

Once again the Rattata was knocked down. Arius was starting to feel sorry for the poor thing. "O-ok, thats enough, Riolu!" Arius cried when he saw the smaller pokemon struggling to stand. "W...we're going to catch it!" Arius quickly retrieved one of his three pokeballs from his bag, and tossed it. His heart pounded as the pokeball shook, and Riolu watched with steady eyes.

After what felt like ages the poleball let out a snapping sound, and the pair were silent. "W...WE DID IT!!" Arius cheered as he dashed over to hig his Riolu. "We caught a pokemon!"

Arius scooped up the new pokeball and held it to his chest, letting out a breath of releif. "The poor thing'll be tired, so lets just keep training until we get to the next town, ok Rio?" The pokemon let out a happy cry, and the two continued training.

It wasn't only a few minutes of walking before I caught myself watching Riolu fight his first match. And Arius catching the Ratata. Eevee, now walking alongside me, got huffy and began looking around, before rushing off in the opposite direction towards a bush. "Eevee what are you-"

As soon as she reached the bush a Pidgey flew out, staring down Eevee from the sky. The exact thing Arius has said could beat Riolu. I had to catch it. "Ok Eevee! Let's catch that pokemon!"

The pidgey flew straight down towards Eevee. "Sand attack Eevee!"

She quickly flung some sand into the Pidgey's direction, blinding the pokemon temporarily and causing it to land on the ground. "Tackle it quickly!"

Eevee rushed at the pokemon and slammed it down to the growl. The pidgey started flapping its wings, cause dirt and sand to fly around the two. "Don't let the sand into your eyes Eevee! Pull back and get ready to Tackle again!"

Eevee quickly turned and ran back far enough to not be hit by the sand. The Pidgey tried to balance itself back before going into the air again, but Eevee tackled him again. I quickly grabbed a pokeball and tossed it at the Pidgey.

It felt like ages before the ball stopped moving. Eevee started singing happily as I went and grabbed the pokeball. My very first pokemon catch. I was as excited as Eevee was. My chest was brimming with pride and I couldn't help but look back towards Arius and Riolu with a big grin on my face.

Arius had kept a passive eye on Harmony and her pokemon but for the most part ignored them. He had to foclus on Riolu- he didn't want the poor thing getting hurt.

By now they had started to experiment with a new technique- counter. It would be the only fighting type move Riolu would be able to learn for a while, and it was kind of tricky to pull off. The key was to strike back as quickly as possible, but it only worked if Riolu was getting physucally hit. A distanced attack would do nothing. Om top of that, Riolu was slowly taking damage after each battle. Eventually, Arius called Riolu back over. "Alright pal, looks like he did some good for now- you're definately strong enough to take on the guys in this area, but we dont want Rattata falling behind. Lets head into Viridian and grab lunch."

Riolu let out a cheerful cry as it slapped its stomach. Ariys made a memtal note to stock up on pokemon food before leaving town. The young man cast one final look over at Harmony. She would definately be the type to try and challenge him with that pidgey now. He wasn't that dumb. Arius planned to train up his Rattata a bit before even thinking about battling her. Or maybe he could catch another pokemon.

Viridian city was a bit larger than Pallet Town, but nothing too sweeping or spectacular. Riolu looked about excitedly, but Arius made aure to keep his pomemon nearby, eventually recalling it into the pokeball before heading into the pokemon center.

Arius waited patiently in the lobby while his polemon healed up.

Eevee and I continued training for a bit. For the most part the sand-tackle combo was working, might as well focus on that for a bit. After a couple of battles the two of us took a break, sitting down and taking a few minutes to eat. I had made sure to bring a lot of berries with me: dad kept a berry garden because it was a lot cheaper to actually grow our own berries than buy them. We didn't have a lot of different types, but we always made sure to have plenty on hand. Sometimes people would come in asking specifically for berries instead of baked goods. In fact she remembered quite a few times people came in with poisoned pokemon needing berries to cure them.

Eevee and Pidgey both enjoyed the Oran berries I had brought. Pidgey would need to be trained soon as well, but I wanted to let it rest before considering that. When I began to collect my bags I noticed a small purple tail around the side of my bag. Apparently a ratata had decided to try and join in on the meal. I still had a couple of pokeballs left so I decided to try for it. "Alright Pidgey let's see how you do against Ratata!"

The Pidgey jumped up to its feet, energized by the berries. Him and the Ratata stared each other down before the wild pokemon tried to rush him. "Get in the air Pidgey!"

With a few flaps Pidgey was sky-born, the ratata missing its attack and nearly hitting Eevee. Eevee moved near my side and looked ready for battle. "Not yet. Let's let Pidgey get a try in. Pidgey! Try and tackle it!"

Pidgey swooped down. Ratata jumped away, but still got hit in the back legs. "Get back in the air and prepare for another tackle!"

Once again Pidgey was airborn and began to go after ratata again. Ratata quickly spun around, hitting pidgey with its tail. Pidgey fell to the ground. As it lifted itself up Ratata charged it. "Use Sand Attack Pidgey!"

He quickly flapped his wings, making it harder for Ratata to see. Pidgey managed to dodge Ratata's attack and quickly tackled him to the ground again. I quickly grabbed my pokeball and threw it at the Ratata. The ball missed as Ratata began scurrying away. "Pidgey hit it again with tackle! Don't let it get away."

Pidgey flew towards Ratata and tackled it again. This time the Ratata wasn't able to stand back up so I quickly threw another ball at him. This time it landed and after a few minutes I managed to catch it.

I breathed a sigh of relief and collected both balls back. I quickly released Ratata from his pokeball and offered him some berries. Looks like I've got two more pokemon to train now.
