Futuristic Journey to Old Earth: Character Sheets

Shannon Trevor

One Thousand Club
NcPXy64.jpg

Name: John Haverson

Age: 46

Rank: Expedition Leader

Gender: Male

Physical Description:
Tall, rugged and deeply tanned, John would be a PR Officer's dream for the next recruitment campaign. The former ONI Colonel stands at 6'3 and weights in at approximately 210lbs. Despite being in his mid-forties John still maintains a muscular physique and is in better shape than most men half his age. The progress of time cannot be completely ignored however; grey hair is clear on his temples and laughter lines tug at the corner of each eye and furrow his brow. Neither feature could be considered a blemish but add to a distinguished handsomeness.

Personality:
John is cool and relaxed in his dealings and rarely gets flustered. When dealing with a problem he will take an analytic approach but has been known to dive straight into certain situations if the only danger presented is to himself. Socially he can be considered a bit of a ‘charmer’ and is as comfortable in a bar full of rowdy Marines as he is at the latest Embassy function. Given the choice however, he would choose the bar every time.

History:
Growing up an only child on the affluent Green World of Bekensten, John was an accomplished pupil and star athlete. After graduating college, he took a divergent step and enrolled in the Coalition Navy's Officer Candidate School. An idealist of sorts, John had always been inspired by the tales of the Navy, fighting against the evil of humanity while pushing forward to the farthest reaches of the Galaxy. He enlisted with the intention of serving a short stretch and then moving on with skills gained from his time with the military and his degree. He volunteered and was accepted for Officer training with the Marines, despite vocal protests from his Father who had felt a position serving as an Officer on a Coalition ship would be safer than being stuck in the dirt with a squad of 'grunts'.

He was assigned to the notoriously tough 103rd Marine Division as a 2nd Lieutenant and proved to be a capable young Officer, rising steadily through the ranks, displaying a mature competency, willingness to learn and good leadership abilities. He saw combat pirates and Mercenary groups in the Kesling Verge and was awarded the Bronze Star for saving his squad from an ambush by a group of pirates who had recently attacked a human colony on Terra Una.

As his rise through the ranks continued, so did his responsibilities. He transferred from his position in the Marines onto the SSV Belfast with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Two years later, he transferred to the Office Of Naval Intelligence where hr spent the remainder of his career, retiring as a Colonel six months before the journey to Old Earth began.

[PERSONAL INFORMATION]
Personality: She is a rather serious and practical individual, who doesn’t wish to spend her time on useless pursuits. Because of this, even though she dislikes it, she focuses a majority of her time on studying complicated math, sciences, and coding. She has a very dry sense of humor, and may find some topics funny which others do not. However, she doesn’t like to laugh, talk rapidly, or even cry out a lot; as she considers these outward signs of emotions also symbols of mental weakness. Because of this her reactions to the others around her is one of reserved and calm disposition, no matter what the topic of conversation. In a fight or whilst working she is entirely focused on the task at hand, and will ignore everyone around her in the sole goal of eliminating the problem before her.
Favorite Food: Pizelles
Favorite Drink: Shirley Temple Margarita
Favorite Color: A tan yellow
Likes: Learning about all useful fields of information, enforcing her skills on the spaceship, and trying to invent different items out of random materials.
History: Lydia grew up on the planet Yugen, and particularly on her parents' albernain farm, an advanced version of past Earthen grain farms. Her childhood was filled with wonder, exploration, and hard work, for though the earth had become entirely uninhabitable, the same toils and troubles of working with nature were present in their farm as well. Lydia started learning how to tend crops by the time she was 6, and four years later, joined her parents and older sister in working full-time on the fields. In her spare moments, she would spend time trying to understand the workings of machines around her. While her sister Genny was enwrapped in their mother's books, Lydia would spend hours tinkering with farm machines with her father.
When her brother Narson who was five years younger than her began working in the fields, her father gave Lydia a present of a starship. It was a rather small craft, with only one main room and just enough space for two people to ride in comfortably, but Lydia loved it all the same. She began going on more and more adventures into space; never going too far from home, but just far enough to explore the stars comfortably.
Another year passed, and Lydia started to become restless. Genny had left to further her academic studies and hopefully become a doctor, and Lydia wished to follow in her footsteps. Looking on the interwebs, she soon discovered that there were many job positions for pilots, just like there are many modern-day spots for truck drivers. After much pleading on her part, she finally received permission to head into the city, and applied at Krant Industries for a position piloting quantum quartz to different planets. She received the job shortly after, but soon realized it was more difficult than it seemed. Quantum quartz was a very useful energy supply, and many shady organizations wanted to get their hands on a free supply. On her first mission her ship was ambushed by space pirates, who were able to steal half of her cargo before a military startrooper chanced upon her and made them run.
After that assignment, Lydia realized she needed to learn how to protect herself. Upon tinkering with several electrical wires, atomic bolts, and her favorite metallic lighters, she created two small weapons which could burst forth great tongues of fire...but they had a limit. Each lighter could only hold enough charges for three bursts, and the bursts could only reach up to four feet, so they weren't always useful...but they were serviceable enough for the job Lydia held. She gained a reputation for always getting her cargo fully transported, so she rose within the ranks quickly and by the present time, was a main trainer for new pilots and Assistant Director of the Krant industries.
However, the monotony and basic routine of her old life had returned as well, and she desired a change in her lifestyle. She had enough money to last her five years of unemployment, and was thinking of quitting the position when she was approached by former Lieutenant John Haverson. With the spark in her grey eyes gradually returning, she accepted his offer to journey to earth, and promptly quit her job. Now she is prepped and ready to go explore the original source of human life, that being Earth.

Name: Ethan MacGregor

Nickname: Hawk

Age: 38

Rank: Scout

Gender: Male

Physical Description:
Tall, athletic, and rough. He stands at 6'3" and weighs around 190 lbs. He has a beard that he doesn't bother to groom much giving him the appearance of a viking from the history books. His nose is a little crooked from being broken once or twice in the past and his hands are full of callouses. His hair is brown with hints of blonde in it and also quite rough looking. He rocks the bed head look without even trying.

Personality:
When Ethan is working, he gives 100% to whatever he is doing. He takes his jobs as serious as anybody possibly can. When he is not working he does what anyone would expect a guy like him to do. Drink, smoke, chase women, get in a few fights, and go home to do it all again the next day. It's the perfect way to mask his PTSD from the world. It's extremely hard to fool Ethan. He has an uncanny ability to spot things that are out of place. That pretty much explains why no one has ever been able to throw him a successful surprise party.

The Past:
Ethan was a good student and a good athlete in school. He was an All-Conference Safety on his schools football team where he excelled at being able to read the play and react to it quickly. He graduated Valedictorian and despite having tons of scholarship offers from various colleges with high reputations he decided to join the Marines. He was assigned to 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, Force Recon. His squads duty was too scout out POI's (Places of Interest) and communicate any intelligence they learned back to their CO as soon as it was safe to do so. They often spent months alone on foreign planets, gathering information and relaying it back and receiving additional orders to stay on post and gather more intel. It took a lot of patience and a keen eye to do what they did. After about 4 years he had reached the rank of Seargent and became the Squad Leader (the title given to the highest ranking Non-Commisioned Officer in the squad). Shortly after that a mission went horribly wrong. It was not his fault, just faulty equipment, but he took it personally. (the details of this mission will make it's way into the story at some point so I won't put them here for spoiler reasons XD) After the mission Ethan fell into a state of depression and anxiety and was diagnosed with PTSD and given a medical discharge. He still has nightmares almost every night but he hides his PTSD well from others now. After his discharge he started taking on odd jobs and then found that scouting was what he enjoyed most. It kept him busy, kept him alone and away from other people some times, and kept him out of trouble.
