Hugo could feel the calm before the storm as they, with Ace, walked their way into the subway.
If it wasn't for Rockefeller and his stamina recovery. Hugo would not be this composed. Part of him really wanted to kill them all. All the Nazis. However deep inside, something was telling him that it may not be wise. A feeling, lost in time.

The calm broke as soon as he saw the big Nazi storm in. Knocking out the guards. Excitement rushed down Hugo's arms and legs. "Here we go" he said with a menacing smile.
As he was going by the knocked out guard men, he wanted to slit their throats. He wanted that as much as a person can want something. Yet he didn't.
It would be too easy. Too cowardly. He wanted to hear his victims scream, and not kill them while they sleep. And so he left them where they were.

There was shouting and confusion inside. The Jewish boy didn't see anything in the darkness but was not scared to help in any way he could.
He saw beaten up Odiel and wanted to rush towards her with a kick from the adrenaline rushing through his veins. However he refrained from doing so as Ace's words rang inside him.

He moved swiftly in the general direction Rosie's screams were coming from. Was Ich Liebe in front of him.

His vision got used to the darkness pretty quickly and the screams got louder and louder. He found them. A soldier of sorts forcefully taking Rosie away.
An image of his sister once again strolled through his mind.

"You can't have her! I WON'T LET YOU! PUT YOUR FILTHY HANDS OF HER PIG! " rang through the tunnels followed by two quick slashing sounds. Despite the dark, Hugo knew what he did. Soldier's arms fell off and the blood poured on Rosie and all around.

Hugo did not let his guard down just yet, for he was expecting fellow soldiers to step in.

William had re-positioned himself by the time the newcomers had entered the glorified arena. Stood flat against a concrete pillar, the spy sneered in the darkness as the familiar voice of a certain German soldier carried through the black veil. He didn’t bother gracing it with a response, choosing to instead reload his revolver and peer around his pillar. Flashlights. These people would never learn, William was sure of it. That soldier had likely shared with them the details of Dead Dreams’ abilities, and still they chose to follow him down into the dark tunnels of an abandoned subway. In an odd sense, William felt a sinking sensation at the thought that idiots like these had kept him on the run for this long. He was off his game.

It was then that a new voice sounded off. William didn’t recognize it, but the accent was local. Judging from his hostile temperament and clear association with the clerk and the soldier, William could only conclude that yet another Nazi had arrived. Yet another loose end to be dealt with then. The stone-y stand began to reposition itself.

“I don’t have time for your games.” William growled and fired several shots at the shining light ahead, hoping to shoot out the flashlight or even land a hit on its wielder.

"Huh?! What the hell?!" Adelaide shouted.

"Ace?!" Rosie gasped as she heard her friends angry yelling. She almost breathed a sigh of relief when he ended his angry words with simply asking if the mean British man was good or bad. Thank goodness!!!

Good ol' Ace!!

At least she was able to think that for a moment before the terrible man shot at her friend.

“NO! DON’T SHOOT! HE’S GOOD!” Rosie again pleaded, wondering just how much this Brit assumed things if he was shooting at Ace for just asking him questions!

Then she heard more yelling from a voice she actually wasn't quite familiar with, but had heard before, she was sure... let's see... last night...

Oh! Was it the boy she healed last night? Before the awful man kidnapped her?

Oh, thank goodness nice people were-----

"A-AAH--" Rosie yelped and cried as she was freed from the painful grasp... and felt warm liquid shower her along with her detainer screaming bloody murder.

Ooooh.... Oh Rosie didn't even need the light to know what was going on.

WELP.

Rosie knew all too well when it was time to start healing people.

"Aaah! N-no! No! Please! No more hurting each other! No more!" She pleaded to the boy as loud as she could so that it wouldn't be drowned out by the poor man’s screams.

"Iro! Iro ro iro! Ro!" Keep also pleaded.

"K-Keep, we-we're needed! You ready?" Rosie asked shakily in french, really wanting to cry and burst into tears but doing her very best to keep it together to do what needed to be done!

"Iro!" Keep nodded.

"It seems to me I've heard that song before
It's from an old familiar score
I know it well, that melody
It's funny how a theme recalls a favorite dream
A dream that brought you so close to me
I know each word because I've heard that song before
The lyrics said "Forever more"
Forever more's a memory
Please have them play it again
And I'll remember just when

I heard that lovely song before~!"

The little once nurse began to sing shakily and through tears as, like magic, everyone within Keeps (rather forgiving) radius began glowing pastel blue and feeling the warmth of the healing magic. The man's arms were lifted up and restored back to his body. The screaming stopped and confused sounds flooded the area, everyone wondering what was happening in the dark that came back after the glowing stopped.

Rosie walked (or rather shambled) on like she was a zombie throughout the vicinity, hoping she might be able to get to Odiel before she lost consciousness. Though the man was going to bleed out due to the loss of his arms, Rosie had managed to heal him and restore his limbs BEFORE he lost too much blood to fully rob her of her consciousness, adding everyone else's wounds as well as healing Odiel's would be pushing it.

Just... Just a few more steps... And Odiel would be in her radius...

C'mon Ro!

Gotta...keep... healing!!

The only reaction Ace could have of Hugo’s screams was a sigh, as the brit’s gunfire caught his attention. The moment the first bullet was shot Heavensent’s perception kicked in. He knew that its speed wouldn’t be enough to catch all of the bullets, but it didn’t need to, as the car that Ace had stolen a few nights before appeared instantly, effectively blocking the shots.
Taking cover behind the car, Ace smiled, as he had learned the brit’s location far better than if he had just answered to his question before.

Noticing that Rosie had begun singing, Heavensent rushed to the front, practically bursting open the front door, in an effort to turn on the car, with the lights on. In a hail of shards, both the headlights of the car smashed in near-unison. Moving at its usual lightning-speed, Dead Dreams raced onwards. The divine glow down the platform was familiar, William remembered it from last night. The healer. And she was headed towards the "Ex" Nazi... To heal her and undo everything William just did. His stand approached swiftly, delivering a sharp chop to the back of the woman’s neck so as to apply a sudden pressure to the nerve cluster there. It was all part of the training. She should be unconscious almost immediately.

Moving away before anyone could shine a flashlight on it, Dead Dreams then moved behind a concrete pillar further down the platform. Obscured by the thickness of the dark, the stand picked up more pebbles for ammunition. Having flanked around the side of the car to reach its current position, William had a clear shot with his stand to fire the stones at Ace from behind his car. William had no idea how it had even got there, but he could only assume it had something to do with the man’s own stand. Perhaps he possessed some kind of pocket dimension ability? Regardless, the machine-gun stones flew off at the French man with a distinct pinging sound. Meanwhile, William peaked around his corner again to lay some suppressive fire on the car. Being shot at from two directions would certainly apply some pressure on the French intruder.

While all of this happened, Max waited atop the stairs. The rocks wouldn’t have hit his flashlight anyway, as he’d wisely avoided stepping down the stairs initially. “Hugo! God damn it, kid, what are you doing?!” Max growled in frustration and stepped down the stairs. He wouldn’t be going far, and while a few rock bullets occasionally managed to graze past the car and strike him, they ultimately did nothing as they harmlessly pinged off of Fields of Verdun. He wanted to rescue Rosie, but first he needed to make sure the unconscious Odiel was out of the line of fire.

That was easy to do. She was directly at the base of the stairs, only a few feet from him. He quickly moved next to her, dipped down and picked her up carefully. With both Ace and Hugo watching for Dead Dreams, he was under no danger as he shielded her with his body and carried her up the stairs just far enough to be sure that no projectiles from the room would be able to hit her. He positioned her in the most sheltered way he could before growling. Why must everyone make this so difficult?!

“Can we stop shooting each other for just a goddamn minute and talk?! We’re all on the same side here if you’d just listen!”

Odiel stirred, then opened her eyes and immediately sucked air through her teeth. She put her hand to the side of her head, and sat up slowly. Despite the blood that was staining the front of her blouse, it was clear that it was her head that was hurt the most. She’d heard Max’s complaint, though she noted that sound was muffled on account of one of her ears being pretty mangled.

“I think we’re past the point where anyone will listen. The Brit wants us dead and doesn’t want to talk. We need to knock him out if this is going to have a happy ending for anybody.” She responded with a croaky voice. She tried to get up, but slumped back down and her face contorted in pain. “I’m going to need a second before I can help out.”

The moment Heavensent started the car, Ace stood up as fast as he could to try and get to the side of it. It was then when a pinging sound caught his attention. In a swift change of plans, Heavensent put the car on reverse. Ace fell to the ground, away from the car’s path, as the rocks completely destroyed his legs and, before they could do any more damage, the car moved to block their path.
Once all the projectiles were blocked, Heavensent changed gears to move towards Will. Meanwhile from his position, and barely managing to willpower his way through the pain, Ace fired three bullets to where the fuel tank was. While he couldn’t aim well due to the pain and the time he had to act, he was confident that he hadn’t missed due to the distance. Once that was done, Ace laid on the ground, concentrating fully on Heavensent.

"You mean to say I should have told him I was going to punch him in the stomach?" It was Rockefeller's turn to stare at Ace like he was the idiot, and he did, watching Ace lead Hugo confidently into the lions den. "That you had to ask that at all tells me you won't understand in a million years. But you're right, I should have broken my finger against Hugo's diaphragm, much better than what we see now. The results should speak for themselves, shouldn't they? I mean..." Rockefeller kept his frazzled look as he ranted to himself, missing the pistol report echoing from the subway on top of Max's hurried descent. When he exhausted himself speaking to no one in particular, he realized he had better things to do than rave about the hypocritic confidence of some youngling. Up next on his totem pole of priorities...

He needed a bathroom.

A block or so down the street from the subway, Rockefeller entered a corner café just as it was starting to rack up a substantial number of patrons. Somewhere between his obvious German features, odd garbs, and laser focused leer, they suffered a dramatic loss to their headcount in a fraction of the time it took to scrounge up those numbers. "Hm? What's going on? Are you closing so soon?" Rockefeller turned his attention to the cashier, a slight thing with long, black hair who seemed to shrink with every step he took towards her. A scrappy young boy stood at their side, no older than them by a minute, but making a visible effort to canvass the girl. Rockefeller's stare met a glare that made him recoil in surprise, and they held each others gaze for a tense moment before the door leading into the kitchen behind them swung open to a behemoth of a man in a flower print apron gripping a pan in his hand. Had he missed a closed sign on the way in? "I'd hate to bother you, truly, but I need to use your bathroom." Nothing again, but a repressed fear behind steely and willful eyes. Rockefeller backed away from the counter, sensing he was treading some line invisible to only himself. "Would you like for me to buy something first? I understand entirely, if that's the case." The silence persisted before the larger man grabbed the cashier by her shoulder and led her into the back, the young boy taking her place. "What do you want, Herr?" Rockefeller started hesitantly with his order before the insult reached him, the pieces of that particular puzzle falling into place finally. "I think there's been a misunderstanding. I'm not-" The young man cut him off by raising his voice, and a pen and pad quite literally. "Just tell me what you want and be on your way." Rockefeller held his tongue. "A bathroom, mostly."

"Get out! Get out, now! What the hell is wrong with you!?" Rockefeller ducked to avoid the frying pan as it swung at his head and slid back before standing to throw off the return swing. "I didn't mean to break your toilets! It was an honest mistake! I'll pay for the damages, somehow, I promise you! I will-" Suppressing fire in the form of emptied cans came flying from the kitchen area, forcing Rockefeller to retreat outside. "Don't bother! Just never let me see your face here again, or I swear..." Rockefeller escaped whatever verbal assault he was liable to receive by sprinting off down the street... Before he turned around and went the opposite way, staring at the ground.

Starting from the café bathroom, Crystal Dolphin made it's trek through the toilet pipes until it emptied into a sewer cesspool carrying waste water into and out of several channels. Working together to guide the other, Stand and Stand master reunited at a manhole while mapping out the tunnels to backtrack to the original collection pool. Standing at the base of the rank waterfall of sewage, a problem presented itself in Rockefeller's grand plan - he had no way of knowing which line led to the subways, if he could even be sure the subway had running water at all. There was no time to come up with a scheme to differentiate between the sources of the water, and there was even less time to come up with a new plan altogether. Climbing to the platform above with Crystal Dolphin's aid, Rockefeller lowered himself into the putrid grey water and opened his lungs for a deep breath, scream as they might. He lit up like a firework on the Fourth of July, sparks flying around him with greater intensity than ever before. His chest swelled to comical proportions, but he showed no signs of slowing or stopping until the brilliant light about him seemed to reach its peak. His muscles throbbed with and unnatural strength, and when he swung his hand down in a mighty chop, the waves passing through his legs listened, slowing... And turning around. "Grey Muck OVERDRIVE!" The rushing water that had nearly reached Rockefeller's knees at first receded completely and forcefully, draining down to his feet for the moment they obeyed. Though he couldn't see the aftermath, he was certain he destroyed nearly every bathroom in the neighborhood... And the subways was one of them. Stepping back onto the platform as the receding waters returned with a vengeance, Rockefeller took a moment to pray for the poor souls unfortunate enough to be using their bathrooms at the exact moment and sent Crystal Dolphin forward, keeping a portion of it wrapped around his fist.

Fighting through a mess of mangled pipes, broken porcelain, and toilet backflow, Crystal Dolphin emerged finally at the end of the line. What remained of the toilet it exited from had busted like glass under the force of the returning waters. The sink, too, had shattered and started spewing water, the water from both it and the toilet flooding the room rather quickly. The bathroom door hung lopsided on its hinges, opening to the landing of a corridor of stairs, some flicking light fixtures, and a few pipes angling down from the ceiling. All Rockefeller needed to recognize it as anything but someone's home. Crystal Dolphin maneuvered into the sink pipes and into others that way, using cracks in rusted, leaky pipes to travel through the rotting infrastructure of its surroundings. Travelling up the stairs and into the chamber beyond through the pipes, the Stand lost its ability of sight entirely... But there was an obvious commotion here. Gunshots, the roar of an engine, and a familiar clinking sound all in the same room. Echoes of conflict. "Hello?" The sound of Rockefeller's voice echoed through the pipes, warbled and choked into anonymity, but recognizable as words at the very least. Crystal Dolphin forced itself into view by a crack between the pipes, it's crown and searching yellow gaze visible as it dangled from the ceiling like an oversized water droplet.

"Is this a bad time?"

William clenched his teeth as he moved back behind the pillar to reload. This was not going to plan at all.

The car started up with laboured revving as the pinging of the rocks Dead Dreams was firing at Ace echoed through the tunnel. William had time to widen his eyes in surprise as the car barrelled toward him. Instinctively, the spy turned on his heel and dived off the platform into the tracks below. His stand was fast, but it couldn't outrun an explosion.

The car crashed violently into the pillar, breaking it in half with a loud crumpling of metal as the car was halted. A second later, the ignited fuel generated from the sparks of Ace's bullets caused an equally violent explo-

And then nothing.

William wasn't entirely sure what had just happened, but it seemed as though the car had simply ceased to exist. Confusion was written across his usually brooding features, but now was not the time to overthink. He needed to be reactionary now.

A tall imposing figure was still approaching William, so the spy decided to run along the tracks to reposition himself into a more advantageous location. Meanwhile, Dead Dreams moved behind the enemy stand and delivered a blindingly fast sweeping kick to its ankles. It quickly combined this with a straight kick to the back, aiming to launch its opponent across the tracks and into the brick tunnel wall ahead.

While all of this was happening, Maximus was kneeling down and talking to Odiel. Presumably, he was making sure she was alright.

Things had gotten out of hand fast. All they'd wanted to do was talk and make sure the nurse was fine... but no, it was beginning to seem that that was impossible. This man... he was beyond reason and intelligence. He was an animal, nothing more. A creature of instinct and brutality: calling him subhuman would do a disservice to the human race.

Maximus grit his teeth, and, having said his piece to Odiel, stood up to look down the stairs. With the car having just smashed the pillar, now was the perfect time.

"You!" He cried out in English. "We've tried being civilized, but that was a fool's errand. Animals such as you know only the language of blood and violence. In that regard, you've engaged in a battle of wits with a native speaker." He pulled out his handgun and descended the steps. All he had to do was get his eyes on the Brit... he quickly pulled his flashlight out and made a sweep over the area. As a ray of light caught on William's hair as he fled into the tunnels, it was all Max needed to jump into gear. "If blood must be spilled here today, than allow me to indulge you... and show you the true nature of savagery!"

With that, he leapt onto the tracks and charged directly at William. No diversions, no clever moves, just a full on sprint. With one hand, he pulled his flashlight back and pointed it down at him, illuminating his head and backside. With Fields of Verdun's enhanced vision, he could make out the sillhouette of the man, and that was all he needed. As he did so, he pulled out his handgun with his other hand and began firing one shot after another directly at the man. His stand would either have to block the volley, or William would have to take a hit. Either way, Dead Dreams would have no leeway to attack him with. With his enhanced speed from Fields of Verdun, it wouldn't be any longer than a couple of seconds, maybe 2 or 3, before he was within arm's reach of the Inselaffe. Once that happened...

he had some "choice words" in this particular language to give him.

Once Odiel and Max were done whispering on the stairwell, and Max had left, Odiel tried to get up again. As she did so, there would be a clattering sound from the top of the stairs as a rifle from one of the guards outside started bouncing down the stairs. Odiel caught it in midair, and recalled her Stand from the top of the stairwell where it had pushed a rifle down. She carried the rife in one hand, finger just off the trigger. The other hand was feeling the wall as she made her way down the steps. Her body was find despite appearances. It was her head. And her vision was already spinning slightly less as a result of the exercise, adrenaline and focus. Blood was pumping through her body, and she was taking deep breaths.

Once she reached the bottom of the stairwell, back in the bunker proper, she held the rifle in both hands, pointing it from her hip, ready to bring it up to aim properly at a moment's notice. [THE WALL] materialised behind her, and she watched the fight between Max and William, which would already have started by the time she made it to the bottom of the stairs. She wasn't ready for this. Her head was still reeling from the blows it had taken. She might be concussed. She was dizzy. She was in pain. She was exhausted. He had no rifle training. But none of that mattered. The Brit had to be stopped here and now.

Standing in the subway, confused about what to do. What to think. Who is the person these thoughts belong to?
Everything I do is the wrong thing. I cannot do anything properly… But why? Is it because I am in some way broken? I don’t work properly anymore? These men are bad. They hurt my friends, however my friends still want to protect them. Rosie even healed the wounds I created but why?
A simple but devastating realization snuck up onto Hugo’s mind. As he noticed the blood that covered his hands.

‘’Am I the bad guy? Am I the person they should be fighting against?’’ He uttered softly.
But why did they not kill me. Why are they good to me? We came to kill Nazis and now they are healing them… letting them be. What have we come to? This cannot stand.

Hugo looked forward and was quickly woken up from his moment of self-realization as his eyes followed the battlefield. Ace was fighting against, what Hugo assumed was an invincible stand. And so his instinct kicked in, his stand picked up all the blood from the ground. (the dismemberment)
Suddenly, an aura of sorts started to levitate around Ace, creating a defensive bubble of sorts.

It’s difficult to say whether Hugo wanted this to happen or it was his stand’s doing. It had a will of his own for a moment at the cemetery. So it’s not out of the picture.

‘’Did I want to do that? Did I?’’ Hugo was visibly shaken by the possibility that his stand acts on it’s own. It was the only thing that kept him ‘’sane’’ the only real friend that he had. However, now it possibly didn’t listen to him.

‘’I know what will cheer you up…’’

‘’Was Ich Liebe! Let’s spill some blood!’’ He said while staring at one soldier near him. Sitting in the corner trembling in fear.

''Oh non rien de rien....'' A song rang menacingly through the subway tunnel...

The cacophonous score beneath Crystal Dolphin continued heedless of Rockefeller's input. Gunfire lit up their faces now and again, but the pained cries of many blended together seamlessly in the dark. The jalopy's weary roar was soft compared to the destruction of metal and glass that followed, it's impact shaking the pipes overhead till Rockefeller thought they would come loose. Another round of gunfire struck the stopped car, igniting a glowing ember in its corpse before it disappeared altogether. "W-What?" Rockefeller thought aloud, Crystal Dolphin echoing his surprise. There was fire, he was sure he'd seen it, and then it was gone. The work of an enemy Stand, or an ally? He chose to hope it was the latter. "They need me no less in any case." The darkness was thick and yielded no clues to what he'd seen, but it was becoming more welcoming by the second overall. His breathing charged the bubble in his hand with rippling force, and and that pierced through the tunnel walls as well as any radar ping, revealing the crooks and crannies of every path nearby, and the platform as well. It was a step in the right direction in the literal sense.

His eyes becoming less strained as the various silhouettes on the platform came into view, and the fighters who still had breath in their lungs shone even brighter, like high wattage bulbs. Distinguishing between each was nigh impossible at his current distance, but another round of gunfire on the train tracks left to Crystal Dolphin gave him a target to focus on. He pinned the gunman as Max by the glimpse he got in the muzzle flash, but the speed they were moving at was as good an indicator as any. A deduction as simple as that was easy for Rockefeller to trust, and before he could second guess himself, he acted. Crystal Dolphin tore the rest of its mass free of the pipe, bursting it open and ripping some piping free from the ceiling as it did. Water poured from the ceiling and Crystal Dolphin hit the ground with a wet splat, coiling up before it launched itself into the signature Max was chasing. "Ho, Brit! Your time is near!" Rockefeller's voice warbled through Crystal Dolphin, disturbing its surface with ripples as violently passionate as his timbre. "Defeat is upon you! Take this!"

As Maximus predicted, the Brit was forced to recall his stand to defend himself from the onslaught of bullets. With Dead Dreams in clear view of both Max and Rockefeller, its speed wasn't fast enough to catch every single one of the bullets. It was forced to prioritize defending William's vitals as bullets began tearing through his shoulders and legs. William staggered, stumbling onto his hands and feet as he struggled to push himself up long enough to take a few more steps before collapsing once more. Rockefeller approached Dead Dreams, Crystal Dolphin poised to strike. Between the bullets and Crystal Dolphin's attack, William had no choice. He couldn't win a head-to-head fight with either of them in close quarters, and it was beginning to seem like fleeing wasn't an option. He'd have to stand his ground, but he'd have to be clever about it.

William dove onto the ground against the wall and curled up into the fetal position. It wasn't exactly graceful, but it didn't have to look nice. He just needed to make his physical body as small as possible. Enhanced attributes or no, Max was still firing a handgun while running at speeds comparable to most cars. There was no way he'd be able to hit such a small target.

Indeed, it would seem William's intuition was right. Max's enhanced attributes gave him more accuracy than most, but it still had his limits. He continued the barrage enough to act as suppressing fire, but his shots were no longer landing. It didn't matter: Maximus could feel victory within reach.

With his body more or less safe, William could focus on utilizing Dead Dreams. He focused mostly on dodging Crystal Dolphin, as he could guess physical attacks would only do so much good against a stand of that kind. He had to keep it busy until he'd thought of a way to deal with the German. Once that was done, escaping from the gelatinous stand would be all he'd have to worry about.

And that was when it happened.

Maximus blazed past the two, making a beeline directly for the Inselaffe. This was the opportunity needed. As the flashlight shining on Maximus's back passed beyond the two, the rapid increase in light caused Rockefeller to have to blink the light out of his eyes. An opening. Normally, William would smash the flashlight to render the rest of the fight permanently in his favor, but he got the distinct impression that, one way or another, this fight was only going to last another few seconds at most. He had exactly one blink of the eye to end this... he had to do it now.

Dead Dreams broke away from Rockefeller and swung at Maximus's neck. He had to sever the spine in a single strike. However, right as the hand was about to make contact, Dead Dream's hand passed through the light of the flashlight, and William felt his stand come to a crawl. William clenched his teeth. Who saw him?! Rockefeller was blinking and Maximus was turned away! Dead Dreams's fist suddenly came to a stop as it struck something it couldn't see between himself and Max. The Stand turned around, and back on the platform he saw none other than Odiel standing alongside The Wall focusing directly on him. As if on cue, Crystal Dolphin wrapped itself around Dead Dreams, immobilizing it.

William glowered as his vision suddenly became dark, even darker than before. In the intense darkness, he could make out a tall form standing before him.

The form of a man in a trench coat and gas mask.

It was over.

William reached into his back pocket and took out a blade. Maximus gave him what must have been a curious look. "What are you doing, fool?" He could imagine the man saying. "Are you so stupid as to try and strike me like this?" No, he wasn't. He was many things, but not a fool. He would rather die than be captured and interrogated by a Nazi. In fact... he meant to.

William drew the blade to his throat, ready to slice it open, but he wasn't fast enough. With a swift kick, William let out a scream as his hand shattered against the man's boot. Maximus's hand grasped William's throat as he sputtered and choked.

"I am getting very tired of people trying to kill themselves when they see me." A punch was all it took as whatever breath remained in William was forced out. He began to see dancing lights in his eyes as the pain of shattered ribs slowly began to sink in. However, he didn't have enough time to comprehend the pain as a swift blow to the head rendered him unconscious.

Dead Dreams dissipated in Crystal Dolphin's grasp. Maximus had made sure to hold back enough on that last blow so as to not kill him... though he couldn't help but feel like he wouldn't mind too much if he failed. Maximus released William's throat as the Brit unconsciously gasped for air. The German grabbed him instead by the collar and dragged him across the tracks back to the platform.

"Vindication." He threw the man's body onto the platform before hopping back onto it himself. He looked around at Ezra and the rest of the assembled guards, and decided to put this to rest now. Leaning down, he grabbed William by his hair and lifted him up to show off his numerous bullet holes and obviously broken bones. "Don't try anything else. He's not dead. Anger me any more than you already have, and that may change... for all of you." With that, he simply let go and allowed William to fall back to the ground with a thud. Making threats like that generally wasn't in his nature, but he had little sympathy for terrorists. Less so when they showed such blatant disregard for the lives of those they supposedly were trying to save. Even less so when they're medics.

With that, he turned to face the assorted allies. "Excellent work. Thank you a great deal, Frau Krupps. It seems our plan went off without a hitch." He gave a polite nod to Rockefeller. "The diversion was appreciated." He looked around the dark platform with his flashlight. "Now then, let us extract the prisoner and Rosie and we shall be..." his light fell over Rosie's limp, bloody body. Maximus seemed to pause for a few moments before slowly turning to face the guards and Ezra. Though his face couldn't be seen, an intense presence made itself known nonetheless as the guards felt his glare to their bones. "Explain. Now. Like your lives depend on it..." The guards didn't need him to finish his thought.

Adelaide was stunned in shock and fear. Everything happened so damn fast she couldn't keep up until the giant Nazi was shining lights on her and the rest of the Seeds... Not only revealing William downed (but according to said Nazi, not out yet)... but also Rosie bloodied and laying on the floor!!

"OH JESUS, WHAT THE SHIT?!" Adelaide cried when she saw Rosie and simultaneously heard his threat.

Christ on the cross, this was bad ON ALL FRONTS!!

"I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED, THE BRIT TOOK OUT THE LIGHTS, AND I HEARD SCREAMING AND YELLING AND--"

"NO!" A random guard shouted when he saw the healer downed and ran to her and picked her up, clinging to her, "SHE HEALED ME! MY ARMS WERE CHOPPED OFF AND SHE SAVED ME!! THAT'S NOT HER BLOOD SHE'S COVERED WITH, IT'S MINE!"

"Wh-what?!" Adelaide shouted, she knew the nurse was healing from the singing and glowing that suddenly cut out, but she didn't quite know what had happened... til now, at least!

"Some damn KID started shouting, and then I felt something slice off my arms!!!" The guard explained, then clutching her closer to him, continued, "But then she started singing, a-and she healed me! Sh-she saved me!!"

"WHAT THE HELL CUT OFF YOUR DAMN ARMS, WHAT THE ACTUAL FLYING FUCK!?" Adelaide shouted running up to them and nearly sliding beside the guard, in both shock and frustration.

"I DON'T KNOW BUT I HEARD A KID SHOUT IN THE DARK AND THEN MY ARMS WERE SLICED OFF!!!" They almost explained, "Then I heard HER singing and my arms came back and the pain went away!"

"She fainted after she healed the Brit last night, s-so... Maybe-- M-m-maybe sh-she's just--" Adelaide tried to mutter, still worried and concerned but a bit less so now that it was established the blood covering Rosie wasn't hers, but the guards.

"Yes! Yes she's still breathing!" He cried happily after feeling for her pulse, pulling her unconscious form close and just about nuzzling the sleeping Ro like a child does a stuffed animal, emotional and grateful she had saved his life and spared him from the pain.

"Thank christ," Adelaide breathed a sigh of relief, physically showing it from nearly slouching and an almost overly animated gesture that came with her sigh, adding, "The last thing we need is OUR heaLer getting killed after Liam went missing to try to get her..."

"Mew!" A tiny kittens meow could be heard as it popped up from her cloak, the poor scared thing barely finding his way to his new foster mother in all the chaos, and was equally smothered in blood along with her as well.

Stupidity...

"The fight over?" Hugo mumbled to himself and sat down in the shadows observing... Thinking.

Max showed off his strength and defeated our enemy which earned him respect in Hugo's eyes. Along with Rock, they did what seemed impossible just moments ago. Although everyone survived more or less okay, Hugo did not feel happy nor relieved. A lot of these Nazis were still in the tunnel and... Wait... What?! The main Nazi isn't dead??? He let him live? What is this? Such stupidity.

"He really is all muscle and no brain."

And what the fuck is this? The soldier who's arms Hugo chopped off was walking as if nothing happened.

"Am I just a joke to all of you?" he whispered to himself with an angry tone.

But then something happened that shouldn't.

Some people are just stupid.

And they never change.

Even if you chop off their arms.

Two people were at Rosie's bloodied body the one Hugo knew was holding her tightly. And the one he didn't know was sitting there.
The Jew could feel that the girl is genuinely concerned about her life, however something like this would not stand.

Their leader was defeated, the fight is finished and they just run towards us... Touch us like nothing happened.

The soldier was violently dragging Rosie away 5 minutes ago. And now he suddenly. Changed his mind? He's not a Nazi now? Yeah right.

[WAS ICH LIEBE] Emerged behind the soldier and with one swift strike his head was cut clean off. It fell on a floor with a loud *thud* and afterwards silence filled up the whole subway.

Adelaide, now covered in blood of her fellow Nazi, could see a dark figure moving closer to her. It was Hugo.

"Get. The fuck. Away. From. Her." he looked he straight into her eyes.

However soon after this Hugo stumbles and felt horrifying pain fill his entire body. Are the effects of whatever Rock did to me wearing off? If yes I will be useless if they try something. Fuck, fuck. Hold on. Please Hugo, you can do this. The pain is just a state of min.. d...

Hugo fell to the floor. Tired... in pain but not unconscious.

The plan worked, with Rock's help. Ace was out for the count, as was Rosie, and the Brit was now finally unconscious. Max thanked her. She nodded joylessly, still panting, and dropped the rifle. "Just doing my duty as an honorable human. At least some of you can still appreciate that," she answered in German. Referring to a Nazi as 'you' instead of 'we' made it clear to Max that she well and truly no longer considered herself one. After all, how could she after everything that had happened?

Odiel watched as Max furiously demanded what had happened to Rosie, and both Adalaide and one of the soldiers explained. The soldier seemed delirious but that was expected after losing both your arms. Wait...who chopped off his arms? Odiel looked around. Where was Hugo?!

By the time she saw him approach, she was too late. She put a barrier up but it was just a second after the deed had been done and the Seeds member's head few away and hit the floor with a dull thud.

"NO! My God, no!" Odiel, exclaimed, in hysterics, as she marched over to Hugo's prone body, grabbed it by the collar and began dragging him away. Adelaide could see both the sheer rage in her expression, the pain in her eyes, and the tears falling down her cheeks. She had been their prisoner. They were going to execute her. They had tried to shoot her. And now she was...crying for one of them.

"One second out of my sight was all you needed to take a life, you STUPID boy!" she spitefully cursed him as she continued dragging him, until her own strength gave out and she collapsed beside the stairs, clutching her throbbing head. "God damn this war," she cursed, this time more quietly, and in German, as she looked up at Max and Rock. "What happened to us? What happened to the Fatherland, to create people like both Hugo and Herr Dorn? To make monsters from men? When did our Glory die?" Her tone wasn't rhetorical. She clearly knew exactly what had happened. And so did Rock. And so, though he might not be able to admit it yet, did Max.

"Look at you... You don't even know what you are fighting for. For peace? For these people?"

~Hugo was saying as he was being dragged away.

"Protecting all of these people that wanted to end you." he coughed up a little bit of blood. "Make up your mind. No half measures. No play on both sides." he spoke to her in german but did not care whether she was listening or not.

Rockefeller wasn't given the opportunity to end William on his own terms, but the combined efforts of Max, Odiel, and himself saw an end the threat he posed. Dead Dreams' presence vanished and Crystal Dolphin relaxed itself, raising up to greet Max eye-to-eye. "You're welcome. I would have liked to hit him myself, though. Just once." Following him into the platform, Rockefeller did another sweep of their surroundings to be sure no reinforcements had arrived. The subsequent headcount was only remarkable in that their numbers had remained exactly the same. The rapidly dwindling signs of life he'd detected before were stronger than ever now. They hadn't been stabilised, but restored in their entirety. "Surely the work of the damsel." He thought aloud, moving to close the distance between himself and the guard before their voice picked up in a tone as reverent as it was panicked. Another joined them and the two went back in forth in a mishmash of conversation that Rockefeller struggled to sift through, his attention split between them before who he assumed to be the once maimed guard approaching the prone Rosie, holding her close enough to make their lantern-flame forms mingle into oneness.

And before he could even utter a word of protest, the guards head went flying into the air, his flame snuffed out as unceremoniously as a candle by an ominous night gale. The geyser of blood spewing from his shoulders sprayed everyone nearby with a generous coating of copper sheen and gave the water at their feet a pink tinge. Even Crystal Dolphin was victim to a few flecks of blood, but it didn't flinch as they penetrated it's surface. It's gaze tilted to the side, to a person Rockefeller hadn't realized moved. Of all the flames present, this one was burning the brightest. Like a lantern smashed against the ground, it's flame burned wild with vengeful angst, but only for the moment. Even now it's vigor was dying, but for Rockefeller, it was beauty to behold. Even still...

"Hugo, you idiot! Who told there are Nazi's down here? You think the Brit would hide amongst the rank-and-file of his worst enemy? At best, these are dissenters of the regime. At worst, bigger morons than the one the Superman just trounced! Hmph!" There was a moment of silent self-satisfaction from Rockefeller as he descended a familiar set of stairs into the station platform. He stopped to realized just how wrong he could be and turned to where the brunt of the guards where condensed, speaking hushed and nervously.

"I am right, aren't I?"

Adelaide couldn't believe the boys words... Was HE the one who beheaded one her soldiers?! WHY!?

Then another man came to ask an obvious question...

"I-- Wh-wha--- Of course you're right!!! Our leader just wanted to get evidence and write about the Nazi's EVIL DEEDS! We're THE GOOD GUYS! THE BRIT WAS SENT HERE TO HELP US! WHY WOULD HE BE WITH NAZI'S! WHATEVER MADE YOU THINK WE'RE THE NAZIS?! IF ANYTHING, YOU PEOPLE ARE THE ONES WITH THE NAZIS!!!!!!!" Adelaide panicked and shouted as she couldn't believe she even had to be asked that, the almost surreal scene before her and one of their own dead on her watch weighing on her like a ton of bricks.

The rest of the guards surrounded her and Rosie's sleeping body w, as Adelaide couldn't believe the ex-Nazi was mourning their soldiers sudden death along with her. Was she telling the truth? Was the woman truly an ex-nazi who wouldn't compromise anything knowing their location???

She could just be acting... right? But... no...

She frowned and grabbed Rosie, clutching her close.

"You're not 'extracting' anyone! If she--" And Adelaide pointed wildly in Odiel's direction as she said 'she', "--Is really pretty much almost on our side, LIKE SHE SAID SHE IS, then she wouldn't want you people to take OUR HEALER away! This nurse can literally turn the tides in our favor, so that the Nazi's don't win here, and not only are you wanting to take her and the Brit our leader invited away, but YOU'RE KILLING US!"

"She wanted that ex-Nazi woman to live in exchange for joining us, so FINE. Get the hell out of here. ALL OF YOU. WITHOUT ROSIE AND THE BRIT. And maybe, just maybe, we won't gun you down if you don't report our location if you're 'really on our side'!" Adelaide was not about to let Liam's hard work go to waste, though she knew she wasn't really in a bargaining position...

"Dammit, I'm sorry Liam! I know this is supposed to be a secret... but this guy took down the Brit, and I don't know if we have the manpower to keep Rosie here... Shit! I just hope I'm wrong and he can't take on all of us...!" Adelaide thought, biting her lip.

"Some time ago..." Maximus spoke somberly as he faced Frau Krupps. This was a topic that weighed heavily on him, clearly. Fields of Verdun dissipated around him and his gaze lowered to face the ground. "It's hard to say exactly when our glory died. Perhaps it was when the Kaiser entered a war we had no chance in winning. Perhaps it was we had everything stolen from us by those who defeated us. Perhaps it was when that bitterness turned into an evil hate that consumed our way of being. Perhaps it was, when in our mindless hatred, we once again entered a war we couldn't win while convincing ourselves that it was destiny." Maximus scowled bitterly, as if a memory in his head was so sour he couldn't help but react. "How soon we forget."

Maximus took a few small steps towards Odiel as he fixed his sleeves. "Sometimes I wonder whether the Great War changed me, or if it changed everyone else and I'm the only one who remained the same. I figure it doesn't matter all that much anyway. One thing's for certain: people seem to be utterly incapable of seeing the truth." He raised his arms to his chest and clenched his fists in frustration. "The rest of the world turned a blind eye to the Anschluss... they allowed the Reich free reign in the Sudetenland... America simply didn't care until it was made to..." his scowl grew deeper. "I was promised glory and honor... what a joke. What honor can be bestowed by the honorless? In our frustration towards our situation, Germany became... it became the very epitome of evil." He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, regaining his composure. "There was a time when I would happily lay down my life for my country... does that make me a hero or a fool?"

Maximus shook his head. "In truth, I don't care. This world's gone mad... we've gone mad. But I know there's good left. Germany isn't lost... it's merely been led astray by a foul driver at the reigns." Maximus tilted his head to the sky, looking at the ceiling of the dark subway. "The sun hasn't vanished because it's not in view. We've all lost sight of the truth... but I fully intend to change that."

Maximus turned away and looked at his own hand, deep in contemplation. "If I fight my own kind, am I evil? Perhaps the people of today would call me evil. I could accept that. However, if a few decades in the future, someone looks back at my actions and says 'those were the actions of a free heart', then perhaps in truth I was not evil. There will always exist those who are ahead of their time. In their time, they may be considered 'evil', but for the rest of time they are considered 'good'. In such a case, I would consider that person to be a 'good person', wouldn't you agree? In fact, it could be said that 'good' is whatever the future has decided is 'good'. If this is the case... then this world as it stands cannot be allowed to be 'good'. It must not... it will not! "

Maximus looked back at Odiel with a great intensity and passion. His legs stood firm in a triangle faced away from her as turned his midsection and head to face her. His form was simultaneously calm and ready, firm and soft: but above all else, it was sure of itself.

"I fight for Germany: not the Fuhrer or his rank. This has always been the case. The Reich was never meant to stay in this world, and thus it could never be 'good'. I would happily be considered 'evil' if that's how it must be, because someday I know that history will vindicate me. That is my God-given path in life. I will walk the path of perpetual struggle, my name will be lost to the sands of time... but what I will do is 'good'. This is the world I have foreseen! Someday, this war will be over. Germany will have a great deal to make up to the world. But I will do everything to rebuild its glory: not in the old ways, but in the 'good' ways! In doing so, the world will reap the benefits of that 'good'. Our hearts and minds are slaves to time, but that needn't always be the case. Some day, humanity will reach its zenith: where the 'good' of the present is the same as the 'good' of the future, and that will never change. A world of true moral perfection. One without oppression or hatred or bigotry. Our hearts will break free of their slavery to the current zeitgeist... and it'll be a far more beautiful world."

Maximus smiled surprisingly softly for his firm and worn face and put Fields of Verdun back on, walking over to Rosie and gently lifting her into his arms.

"A world of Hearts Unchained... and that's where I want to be."

"I know exactly what I'm fighting for, Hugo. You're the one who's confused. Who's lashing out violently at anyone who opposes you. Something broke your mind, and I am sorry. But I will only kill when there is no other way to keep the peace. You don't even give words a chance. I hope that one day you can relearn your civility. It might be a fool's hope but I have pity on you.

And that was a wonderful speech, Herr Max. There's hope for you yet. Let's take Ace and the Brit, and get out of here, but first, there's something I need to say."

Odiel climbed slowly to her feet, and ambled up to Adelaide, this time speaking in English. She did not look happy. "Our healer. Our healer. She has a name, you know. Her name is Rosie. She could do some good here, that's true. But I'm not so sure it would be good for her, the way you talk about her like she's just a tool. The way you, after a prisoner tells you that she's not an enemy, let a stranger execute her. Then, when she's free, shoot at her yourselves. In the dark. Do you know how STUPID that is! You could have hit each other! You could have hit Rosie! Quite simply, I don't trust you.

You insist you're the good guys. You had better start acting like it."

Angelica Giovanna ~ Detective Noir

It's not every day you hear more than a dozen gunshots coming from the subway you were hiding in just yesterday... and it's not every day that those dozen gunshots come immediately after a strange man with a power much like yours runs all gung-ho into said subway. The Italian wasn't entirely sure how safe it would be to follow him into the subway, especially if he's a Nazi- as his power would suggest- especially if he's running into the subway to combat other persons with similar powers. That thought frankly unnerved the girl, who had grown so accustomed to being able to breeze through life with an invisible, untouchable guardian at her side.

Angelica, tense, followed the commotion down the steps- the same steps she had fled from William and Adelaide via before. There was the thud of a person's head slamming into the platform's concrete floor, which made her cringe at the thought. So painful... And then there was the slight buzzing of destroyed lights- she'd be going in blind if she really chose to. That could be a terrible mistake, giving those already adjusted to the darkness a huge advantage over her. She walked down the steps hesitantly as the fight raged on in the subway, reaching the bottom of the steps as that gas-masked German finished an... appropriately lengthy monologue. Something seems to have worked him up, though she couldn't entirely tell what- disregarding the mess the subway was now in.

She took a step to one side as Max lifted Rosie into his arms. That suit must give him tremendous strength to be able to pick someone up so easily... She's glad she hadn't decided to get aggressive when he queried her. She considered speaking up and making herself known, but- given all the commotion and gunfire- that was probably not the best idea.

(That's probably everyone)

Was he defeated?
Did we win?
No... it can't be.

Ezra cowered behind the table set, knees pushed against his chest, his own breathing becoming difficult because of this. He had heard it, the sound of a knife unsheathing, the slight tap it makes on human skin. That was Will's last grand plan, his final action. He was a Britanian after all, he wouldn't let himself be captured by the enemy. Ezra knew himself lost and his hope for survival dissipated as a large thud was heard. He tensed up, thoughts raced through his mind like horses on a track. There was no way for him to escape in one piece, not against the large numbers of enemies just behind him. He could hear their own commotion, their ramblings, and yells permeating through the subway but even them being so noisy; would not let Ezra escape without someone hearing.

There was no escape, none that could be achieved through normal human means.

The hard concrete floor became more aware to him as his thoughts centered on one thing; inhuman escape. He was not a normal human. He had proved that with his oddly behaved feline companion and the can. He can move things he just needs the willpower to move himself. His breathing slowed and his body relaxed. The commotion behind him turned to silence and he felt an odd sort of serenity in being peaceful in a battlefield. Ezra closed his eyes, feeling the concrete's cold chill and the hardwood surface he sat back on. He felt a familiar feeling. It was the hard concrete floor, the torn-apart leather couch, the metal table with machinery over it and the chair now holding on top of his feline companion.

Outside his range, he felt his enemies' gaze lay on the table he hid behind, he had to leave. He could not risk capture otherwise he must do what William was so brave as to attempt. Come on... Get me out of here!

Silence. It was a different kind of silence not heard of in the subway. Ezra slowly opened his eyes and was welcomed with the cracked concrete walls of the cellar he hid in. But he found the presence of his companion to be no longer present. He knew his companion could find him should they be separated he just had to hope they could get here safely. Getting up from the chair, Ezra moved towards the couch, crashing down into it as he let his exhaustion wash over him.

His eyes drifted downwards as his mind went blank.

- - -

A cat with pitch-black fur appeared behind the table. Knowing the subway as a familiar environment though it knew it had to get away from it. The cat peeked around the table, its yellow eyes almost appearing like a flashlight in the dark. No longer caring if the coast was clear, it raced from behind the table to the stairway where it met a woman of a very specific kind of stature. The cat briefly stopped for a moment, looking up at the woman. It motioned its head as if to say "Follow me!" The cat ran off, slower this time, leaving behind it a trail of stardust to assist the woman in following it.

“Mew!” The little kitten, who had gotten lifted up along with his new foster mother, meowed and called out to the giant Nazi he had used as a climbing post yesterday.

It stood up on its hind legs and pawed at Max, continuing his meows, and kept doing so for a few moments until he decided he’d have better luck with Ro, meowing his way to Rosie’s face and licking her cheek and chin in a vain attempt to wake her (even going so far as to meow right in her ear). It did not work, however, as the healing from earlier as well as whatever had knocked the little once nurse out kept the small, small woman fast asleep.

She did stir a bit, however, and the look on her face was not one of peace: She looked pained and troubled, and a tiny groan escaped her, though the tiny thing was not stirring enough to be close to awakening just yet.

Crystal Dolphin mimicked a choked sigh at Rockefeller's expense. He found some relief in Adelaide's alibi, but from all angles, she was trying very hard to be irksome. "Don't be foolish!" Rockefeller barked from the top of the stairs in his own voice, starting to rush onto the platform before he stopped himself. His vision was as clear as ever, dark be damned, and Crystal Dolphin was in its natural element. He didn't have to go any further. "You'd order your men to open fire on an unseen foe? In the dark? What happens when your men gun each other down? Will you take up their arms and keep up the good fight to the bitter end, blind as a mole and pissing yourself? I, on the other hand, can see everything." Propelled by a thought, Crystal Dolphin slunk around to Adelaide's backside and gave her a hard shove square in her shoulders, disappearing to her flank right after to shove her again. Her handgun was torn from her hip holster on the second shove, Crystal Dolphin whipping it across the room for Rockefeller to catch. It was behind her and beside her, a faceless phantom harassing her in the dark. The display was nothing short of bullying and Rockefeller was well aware of the fact. Sometimes the ugly and childish means were preferable tactics to all others. If this was what it took to make her surrender, to show her how hopelessly outclassed she was without really hurting her, then so be it.

Crystal Dolphin finished by whipping Adelaide's legs out from under her, throwing her onto her butt. "You never saw it coming, did you? Did I sate your thirst for suicide? You have a purpose to serve. An army to lead. But you lost this battle. Prepare yourself for the next." Satisfied with himself, Rockefeller recalled Crystal Dolphin to his side and stepped out onto the platform, holding his gaze on the prone Adelaide for a moment. "I've heard your voice before. Over the radio. Check the local hospitals if you want to find this 'Liam' fellow. He's mostly fine, but he needs you more than ever." Rockefeller turned his attention to Max and Odiel next, making purposeful strides in their direction to check on Rosie for himself. He slowed at Max's side, only intending to listen to his speech for a moment before it drew him in. Could he argue that he was in the same position as Odiel and Max? The memories of his life before had been stolen in an accident he scarcely remembered, and even what he could recall was only snippets of someone else's life, like watching a movie with no beginning or end. He felt none of their sympathy to the Reich or its leaders, only unyielding hate, but... Maybe he could be made to understand? More than the reason for the war, or the horrors these two both committed in the name of the Furher, maybe he could relearn who he was through them.

If not, a world of unchained hearts was a great consolidation prize. He felt himself smiling at the thought. "You, yourself, have a beautiful heart, Superman." - He patted the man's shoulder, gave another curious squeeze of his Stand clad frame, and then turned his attention to Rosie. Did he need to have his sight to smell the blood on her? He knew she'd laid in the water from his entrance for quite some time. "Her clothes are soiled. We should get her out of them before she wakes up. I think I can draw the water and blood out myself, but we should get out of this tunnel to do that." He turned away nodding to himself, focusing his attention into the dark for another last minute head count. Hugo and Odiel by the stairs, Adelaide on the ground surrounded by her guards, and Rosie and Max behind her. His features grew taut as he strained to place the difference, exploding into shock when he realized the man that had been hiding before was missing all together. He turned his gaze to the stairwell out of the subway and noticed an unfamiliar shape hiding on the steps. "Someone ran, and there's someone watching on the steps." He murmured under his breath for Max to hear. "The militia woman says that the Brit was sent to help them. Surely he didn't come alone? Could this be enemy reinforcements?"

Angelica Giovanna ~ Chat Noir

The Italian's first instinct upon seeing the ethereal feline was to chase it and see what it was up to, and so she did. She, utilizing her lack of presence, navigated past the commotion between Adelaide, Maximus, Rockefeller, Odiel, and whoever else might still be conscious- all of whom are strangers she knows almost nothing about. The mysterious cat had been kind enough to leave a trail of mystical particles for Angelica to follow, which she used to her advantage in keeping track of the thing. She considered the thought that it was another Stand, luring her into a trap, but she had her own Stand and could defend herself just fine! Just in case, though, Day Tripper manifested coiled multiple times around her left arm, ready to act as a reflective shield.

Maximus glanced up at Angelica for a moment before he shook his head. "I don't believe so. I ran into that woman before entering. She's definitely a Stand user, but I don't think she's an enemy. She was watching the subway, but she's definitely not a Nazi. I'm not sure who she is, but I get the sense she won't cause us trouble if we don't cause her any." Maximus gently placed Rosie over his shoulder, doing his best to make sure she was comfortable, before he walked back over to William's body.

"On second thought..."

Maximus reached down and grabbed William by the neck and began dragging him across the ground behind him. He was not going to leave a dangerous terrorist unwatched and amongst his allies. He had questions for the man, first and foremost... and then he had to decide what to do with him. His grip was firm: not choking, but enough to be painful and uncomfortable if William were conscious.

"We should get out of here. The garrison may have heard explosions and gunshots. We should aim to be far away if they come looking."

With that, carrying Rosie over one shoulder and dragging William along the other hand, he began to make his way towards and up the stairs.

Odiel nodded in agreement at Max's assessment of the situation. "We also need to lay low somewhere while everyone who's unconscious wakes up, and I'll need a change of clothes. Hopefully they've stopped watching my house after I didn't go back there last night. Max, I want you to take everyone to Rosie's apartment, and I'll join you there once I've retrieved some of my things."

Odiel picked her red beret off the floor, dusted it, and put it back on, before turning back to Adelaide and speaking in English. "The real Nazis might have heard your men firing their guns. That's your fault and now exclusively your problem. You've probably escaped them before, but anyway, good luck."

And with that, Odiel split off from the group and headed up the subway steps. At the top, she saw the strange woman several of the others had mentioned, following a cat.

...

No, that was absolutely not her problem. She turned away and walked down the street, hunched over and with her arms crossed to try to cover as much of her shirt as possible. As soon as she could, she started taking the alleys.

Max's reassurances put Rockefeller's nerves at ease. When he turned back to the stairs to see the stranger retreating up them, he was sure they could be trusted without a doubt. "You don't have to tell me twice." He said to Max and Odiel, moving to pick up Hugo where the clerk seemed to leave him. "On your feet, boy." He threw Hugo's arms over his shoulder and braced his left arm against his back while wrapping it around his front. He was holding him up well enough just like that, but still gave Hugo time to let his feet find purchase, if he could stand at all. "Hugo.... You have fire." Rockefeller started, supporting him as they marched towards the steps in deliberate pacing. "But you lack direction. You're a wildfire. Ace can't harness that vigor, because he can't understand it. He can't understand it, because he doesn't have it. Do you know why, Hugo?" He stopped to give the boy a moment to think about that, and turned his face to his. There was no way of telling if they locked eyes in the darkness, but the youth could feel his gaze intensely either way. "It's because he's a dreamer. Just like the Superman, and the clerk. They're great minds and visionaries. But they don't have your fire. Our fire. Do you know why you got your gifts, Hugo? Do you know what makes us special?" He was quiet again for a time, and his gaze left Hugo's face. He started forward towards the stairs, where whipped Crystal Dolphin underneath Ace to carry him.

"We make dreams happen. We're the men in the trenches with blood on our hands, because we love it more than anyone else. Remember that, and be proud."
