{JKthegreat and Lexie} Dear Soldier

I smiled as I waved her off and started to retreat back into the apartment. I fulled a plate with the waffles, bacon and eggs that Ashton had cooked and tucked in while watching some tv. Wish she had a journal or something around here I thought to myself, smirking as I ate See what she wrote about me after all of our Skype calls. I finished the breakfast and decided I might as well go for a long run, so I through on some training pants, some sneakers and a white sleeveless vest as I made my way out the apartment with my earphones in and my phone playing some 'Get Pumped' music.

I arrived at the diner with a small smile and walked in, allowing another girl to leave once I clocked in. I smiled softly and hopped on a stool as I waited, noticing that no one was in my section. As the hours went on, we got busier and busier, and before I knew it, it was time for me to leave. I took my apron off and gathered my tips before clocking out and heading back home. When I arrived, I walked inside and set my things down.

After I got back to the apartment after my run, I spent most of the rest of the day either reading, watching a movie or just attempting to play Ashton's piano, without much success. When Ashton got back from the Diner, I was doing more exercise in my room because I had ended up getting a little bored, and I quickly stopped to go and say hi, regardless of the fact that I didn't have a shirt on. "Hey" I said, walking towards her with a smile "How was work?"

I was about to go into my room to changed when I heard an all too familiar voice. "Hey.....you're all sweaty," I said before laughing and giving him a quick kiss. "I'm gonna change," I said simply before walking into my room and closing the door, mainly to keep from staring at him. I changed into a pair of shorts and a tank top before heading back out and smirking a bit. "We're leaving at 10 tonight. I'm either leaving with or without you. I told you earlier that we're going out tonight."

I smiled as she kissed me and responded with "You know its a little bit hot when I'm sweaty like this. Don't even try and deny it." I quickly grabbed a towel from my room and starting wiping the sweat off my face and chest. Ashton returned a few moments later looking really good in her tank top and shorts and said that we would go out later. "Sounds like a plan to me" I said, suddenly grinning and raising an eyebrow at her "But we have so much time to kill until then. Whatever shall we do? "

I smiled softly as I glanced back at him. "Work was fine and I need to practice for my next shift. I could attempt to teach you if you wanted me to," I said with a smile as I sat down at the piano and looked back at him. I motioned him over as I looked down and began playing a few notes happily.

"Okay, you can try" I said, smiling as I sat down next to her "But its your funeral. I was good at everything back at school. Except music. Music was where my brain just started to get confused." I played a few of the notes experimentally, and wondered how on earth I was supposed to make a song out of them.

"It's really not as hard as it seems. Making a song, that's hard, but playing a song that's already written isn't nearly as bad?" I said with a smile as I looked over at him. "I'm just going to teach you the basics. Like for starters, the only notes there are, are A through G. Nothing higher. It just repeats. Starting with A," I said as I played the note before moving to the next letter until I reached a G. "Then it just repeats again," I said with a small laugh. "So take where I just started, say the alphabet through G, then repeat until you reach an A in front of you and that's your range for where you're sitting."

I nodded as she spoke, and tried to play the letters as she told me, quietly saying the alphabet to myself as I did so. I eventually got to an A in front of me and I couldn't help but smile and say "I feel like a dyslexic five year old. But that doesn't seem as hard as I thought. I always thought each key was assigned its own note, that's when my brain starts shutting down."

"To be completely honest, there's only twelve notes repeated constantly," I told him with a smirk as I gladly played all twelve notes. "There are sharps, which raise the note a half step. For example, an F sharp raises an F a half step so it's between an F and G," I said with a smile as I played the note. "Flats are the same way except it lowers the note a half step. A G flat puts it in the same place as an F sharp so they are actually the same note," I explained with a small smile. "Flats and sharps are the black keys...for the most part. One exception would be a B sharp because it's the came note as a C, so it would be a white key," I explained with a small smile.

I nodded and tested out a couple of the notes that she pointed out. "So I saw you writing some of your own songs during one of our Skype calls." I said looking back at her and laying one hand on her leg "Do you wanna...play one, maybe? "

I glanced over at him with a small smile and shrugged slightly. "I don't see why not," I said with laugh. I got up and motioned for him to get up before opening the piano seat and pulling out my journal and sitting back down. I flipped through and found one of my favorite ones, smiling softly at Conner. I took a deep breath and smiled a bit as I began to play.

As she began to play one of her originals, I tried my best to keep track of her finger movements and where they were touching to produce each note, but her fingers moved so smoothly, like the flow of a river, and in the end I just found myself just able to listen and feel relaxed as she played. Every note she struck seemed to give her a burst of life, and it all made her look so undeniably happy. It was a beautiful site.

I gladly kept playing until I finally finished. I rested my hands on the piano and looked over at him with a small blush. I gladly leaned over and moved my hand to the side of his neck as I pulled him closer and kisse him passionately. I blushed a bit more once I pulled away though I kept him close to me. "I'm glad you're here," I whispered softly as I returned my lips to his in a firmer kiss.

She finished playing, and I still had my eyes closed when I felt her pull me in and kiss me passionately. I was surprised at first, but I quickly regained my thoughts and placed both hands on her hips, pulling her closer to me. I didn't even have time to respond to her comment about me being with her, when our lips met again and I could feel my pulse rising.

I smiled softly and wrapped my arms around him. I finally was able to pull away and stood up, smiling a bit more. "I'm gonna go fix something to eat," I said with a smile as I turned and heading into the kitchen. "What can I fix you?" I asked loud enough so he could hear me as I looked around.

I walked slowly into the kitchen and responded with "Well, I guess it depends on what you got?" as I leaned against the counter and watched her move around the kitchen with speed and precision, like she had done it so many times. Which, I guess, she had at her job.

"I work at a diner. Out of instinct, I have a lot of stuff," I said with a small laugh. "What about some spaghetti," I said with a smile as I glanced over at him. Without waiting for an answer, I began moving around, finding some tomatoes, garlic, seasons, and anything else I needed. "Homemade," I explained simply as I winked at him and laughed ever so slightly.

I nodded, smiling at her and said "Sounds great." I didn't really want to get in her way while she cooked, so I decided to go check on something on my laptop that I had been checking the whole day.

INBOX:(1)

I had a new email. Could it be them? With bated breath, I opened the email and slowly a smile began to spread on my face as I read it. "They accepted me" I said quietly, then repeated it much louder "Oh my god, they accepted my application!" I ran through my door into the kitchen, and thanked goodness that Ashton wasn't holding anything, because I wrapped my arms tightly around her and actually picked her off the ground in my embrace and kissed her firmly with excitement.

I smiled when he left and kept cooking, singing softly to myself as I danced around a bit. I was just finishing cooking when I felt myself being lifted into the air and spun around. I let out a yelp and laughed as I kissed him back and held onto him tightly. "Why are you so happy?!" I asked, trying to get over my laughing fit.

"UFC, UFC ACCEPTED ME" I shouted, jumping around excitedly, and eventually managing to calm myself down after suddenly hugging Ashton multiple times. I panted erratically as I spoke more calmly. "UFC is the biggest MMA fighting league in the world." I said, beaming wildly at her as I spoke "I sent in an application on the day that I was told I was coming home to have a Debut amateur fight to possibly see if they would be willing to offer me a contract. They sent me a reply and they actually ACCEPTED me! My fights in three weeks time against a guy named Tim Sanders, whose supposed to be a up and coming possible champion. This has been a dream of mine since I was, like, seven years old." I couldn't stop beaming like a little kid as I waited for her response.

The moment I heard him say UFC, my face dropped. Fighting? I hesitated for several minutes before looking up at him and kissing him passionately. "Promise me you'll be careful," I said softly once I pulled away though my arms remained around him. A smile slowly crept across my face as I jumped on him and hugged him tightly. "That's amazing!"

I kissed her back excitedly with my arms wrapped tight around her waist, still smiling uncontrollably as I did. "I promise" I said as I hugged her hard and dug my face into her neck "I can't believe this is actually happening. I only sent it because I wanted to see what they would advise me to do before I tried to join, but they accepted me straight away!"

I laughed slightly as I held him close to me, closing my eyes. I finally pulled away and smiled a bit more. "There's a gym nearby that I go to. There's an MMA trainer that works there that can help you get ready for the fight," I told him with a smile. "We can go tomorrow," I added and pulled him back to me as I kissed him one more time. I pulled away from him and fixed his plate, then mine and handed him one. "Eat up."

I did as I was told and sat down, starting to tuck into the food as my mind raced with all of the things that I needed to do before the fight, how much I needed to train. "This is amazing by the way" I said, smiling up at her after waking from the thoughts that were consuming me "Sorry, just a little deep in thought. I got so much to do before the fight..."
