What sort of projectiles are our weapons firing? Lead bullets?

Lead bullets, of many different types like explosive rounds which are like RPG-bullets etc. Lasers do exist but are typically satellite mounted or on orbital platforms that can power them with a stable supply of energy.


most fire arms are also operating on gyrojet, Gauss, or railgun mechanics.

What's the lowest rank possible where I could have a good piece of the action? Private?

I'd recommend sergeant. You'd be in charge of a 10 man (including you) squad of infantry.
