“The seven became one and none could stand against that ones might.”
The kingdom of Iridia is a legendary Nation which dwells in a maze like network of seaside canyons. This natural protection from both the elements and other nations has allowed it to thrive until they grew all but immune to both. Long ago the nation was merely seven tribes that decided to become one people and unite, a decision made against the will of the gods. In their wrath the gods sent one of their own to serve as a vessel of their wrath. Iridia the goddess of the Sun was their chosen vessel of judgement and the goddess descended from the sky with the fire and fury of the sun itself. The children of the seven tribal leaders came together and rallied the people uniting the collective tribes against the goddess and against all odds they actually managed to severely wound the goddess and take her captive. Emboldened by their victory the people threatened the gods to stay away lest they kill their captive goddess. The gods agreed to these demands more out of an amused surprise than any fear, however not before the goddesses nephew used his power to put the goddess into a deep sleep filled with pleasant dreams to prevent her from suffering in the humans care.
The presence of the sun goddess benefited the kingdom greatly in the following 900 years. Disasters would be steered away from the nation by the other gods. As a means of atonement and respect for the goddess the great kingdom was named after her and the nation of iridia was born. This growing nation was sandwiched between two older nations who over time grew jealous of their splendor and unlike the gods, these kingdoms did not fear the goddess quite the contrary, they aimed to take her. Their greater armies threatened to crush the kingdom and the leaders were Desperate so they prayed to the gods for guidance. The gods all refused with one exception, the god of death and Uncle of the sun goddess. He told the king that the power to save them could be gained by drinking the blood of the goddess…but such power would come at a heavy cost. Fearing the cost this king ordered his guards to undergo the change instead and five of his noble knights drank from the goddess.
Three days later these same five knights were spotted on the battlefield each fighting hundreds at once smiting warrior and mage alike. The world had never seen anything like it before and a sly bluff from iridia informed them that an army of such warriors could be unleashed upon the two nations. That fear paired with the loss of over ten thousand men in one week to only a handful of warriors caused both nations to parlay for peace and even offer tribute to iridia for protection from their neighbors. Yet the cost mentioned by the death god had already taken its toll. All five of these esteemed Golden Knights had lost a part of themselves they would never regain, Their souls. The loss of their souls would have several side effects such as the knights ceasing to age and lacking the ability to have an afterlife, they lose the ability to reproduce, and their emotions are often dulled making them hard to interact with for the normal person, finally they emit an aura of discomfort to those around them who would feel as of these golden knights brought with them a cold feel. Yet five was not enough to defend such a large kingdom, so the order of the Golden knights was formed and over the centuries the nation of Iridia would grow along with their great order of knights. In the modern day exactly one thousand knights dwell within this kingdom, many are centuries old but only two of the original five remain.

The plot & Setting
The King of Iridia has died mysteriously and left no heir. As such the seven noble families flood to the capital city to determine amongst themselves who will be the next monarch…a problem considering each family possesses a child of age to take the crown. Meanwhile the Golden knights have been loosed from their tight lease and given free reign to investigate all within the kingdom to find out if foul play occurred and of course to protect the capital as the nations power is gathered in one place for the first time in centuries. All the while the common man and woman of the capital sees this as an opportunity to make a fortune as with so many nobles in the city the bakers tailors, Jewelers and many other are working overdrive in the hopes of peddling their wares. The city is in a good deal of chaos but strangely the mood seems less somber and more jovial…unsurprising considering King Malcom was a total failure of a king, many see the golden knights as responsible for holding the kingdom together under his reign. Yet as hopeful as many are just as many fear that the next king could be worse as the noble families are knowns for their scandals and were just as complicit in the last kings failures. Any enemies of the nation would be fools to not notice the weakness it has currently, what no one expects is that some of their enemies may well be divine.
