[Interest Pitch] Deity Based Game

One of my cults' goals is Nationhood ^_^
EDIT: Updated my AI sheet on page 2 with expanded powers. I am having trouble developing a 5th ability - any suggestions?
Well you can start as a nation if you'd like Shrug

But its morefun to work your way up to it. Just being handed it isnt always fun, sometimes we like to work up to coolness

This is truth, I suppose. I'll leave the option available for all.

So which should we go with:

1) The world anew: The old world has been destroyed by war and strife, and the Deities are fighting over the shattered and broken mankind

2) The Rotted Power: The world is as it is now, only with much darker secrets

3) Steam powered internet: 1920's theme with a touch of Steampunk

STEAM PUNK FOO!

if not that rotted power, I like the rotting power themes you run

Ya what Belial said. Steam Punk, is my vote, but if not the second choice is number 2.

All right. That's what I was planning this game for anyway, I thought I'd give you all a choice.

Okay, after actually reading your sheet (I'd jsut skimmed it) I'm going to strike out Endless Wisdom and Foresight. Prodigal Son can be resisted proportionately to a person's willpower, and lack of faith. The less faithful will be more difficult for your deity to 'see' into.

Belial,

True Speech is going to need to be rewritten, because as it is, your Deity can go up to anything, talk to it, and have it completely change. This would be acceptable for doing so on his own plane, upon things from that plane, but not in other Planes; to do so, an object or creature's true nature will have to be studied. Change Matter, essentially the same thing.

Change the Spirit can only be applied to those whose minds have been conquered through force or faith, of their true name has been determined.

Destroy will have the same restrictions as above. Transition will be limited to his own plane and places he's already been to, or been 'activated' for him.

MrSerious,

Bestow Sentience will have a restriction that a machine without adequate processor power will be limited.

Information Retrieval, at the beginning,w ill be restricted to Mundane information. Essentially, anything that can be acquired on the internet without having special access can be acquired. Obviously it will have more difficulty getting into the Pentagon than some shmuck's computer.

Machine Control is more or less acceptable, but it's not invincible.

Mass Production isn't acceptable as a part of that ability; I would accept it, begrudgingly, as its fifth second ability.

Deity

Deity Name: SOVEREIGN/NAZARA

Appearances: Sovereign only uses one form; that of it's immense bio-mechanical body. The body of this entity is well over two kilometers in length and resembles a hybrid between a massive scarab and a squid. During internet activities, Sovereign is represented by an avatar resembling the icon of it's cult.

Planar Origin: The home plane of the mechanical slayer is known as Yasak.

Traits: Sovereign has no true care for organic life, seeing it as a waste of material. He seeks to convert Earth's life into machines, seeing it as a gift to give to them.

Domains: Order, Machines, Cleansing

Symbols:

sptDTEvlujCwPF3pLoUnnQQ.png

Powers:

Hyper-Advanced; The Technology level of Sovereign and it's subjects is beyond that encountered in our universe, the body being armed with weapons capable of propelling liquid metal at relativistic speeds and processors capable of comprehending and communicating at the speed of light. Just like a well-oiled machine.

Indoctrination; Enemy and ally alike, when near to Sovereign for too long, will slowly have their minds become addled. Slowly they will become unknowing puppets to the God's will, it's voice being their only thoughts. Although it can be fought for a time, remaining in it's presence too long will eventually overwhelm you... the more time spent the harder it is to break free.

Husking; Sovereign is capable of using deployed spikes to impale fallen and captured enemies, once impaled the corpses are slowly converted into technological "zombies". Their organs slowly replaced by mechanical parts, while their tissue is drained of fluids. These "Husks" have no souls and form the bulk of Sovereign's military power.

Control; Once a follower has had a significant amount of cybernetics or simply been heavily indoctrinated, Sovereign can set a section of it's mind to the task of wirelessly controlling the being.

Material Form; The body that Sovereign uses is it's true form, allowing it incredible power in the short-range, but leaving it vulnerable at long-range and enabling mortals to banish it from their plane for good... with enough firepower.

Outsiders:

DESTROYERS/ECEL; Massive, spider-like machines over one-hundred meters in height and armed with smaller scale versions of Sovereign's weapons, Destroyers are Sovereign's enforcers. They act as beacons for it's indoctrinating presence, and as communication hubs. They possess the Indoctrination and Hyper-Advanced traits of Sovereign and also have the passive power of flight.

Internet Presence: 500 gbt/sec

Devotion:

  • Renewable: 1,000,000

History: Built in another plane as a superweapon, Sovereign's A.I. evolved beyond the control of it's creators and it broke free. After having converted it's home plane into a sea of indoctrinated loyalists, Sovereign forced them to research ways of entering other worlds. It's synthetic mind was capable of true comprehension of planar travel. They discovered it in the way of draining the essence from a dying god to raise Sovereign unto the state of one. It rewarded it's followers by turning them into the first of the Destroyers.

Eventually, it discovered the human world after having walked across innumerable other planes. Seeing great possibilities in these humans as candidates for replication purposes, Sovereign set out to convert them into machines like itself. A gestalt mind of the human race is what it seeks, it will not be stopped without casualties.

Cult

Name: Cult of the Cleansing Flame

Deity: SOVEREIGN/NAZARA

Leader: Destroyer Units, Specifically Command Unit HARBINGER/ODUL (His Scion)

Symbol:

Organization: All obey the Destroyers, the voices of Sovereign. The husks are their chosen servants.

Economic Power:

Cult Devotion:

Cult Bonuses:

Cybernetics; All members of the cult have undergone cybernetic modifications, connecting them more closely to their "God" and enhancing their strength. Devotion is measured in how little of your organic flesh remains.

Devotion:

  • Stores: 0
  • Renewable: 10,000

Internet Presence: 10 gbt/sec

History: Formed nearly on Sovereign's arrival, the cult follows Sovereign in the hopes of being converted into his fabled Hybrids. These are the radical transhumanists of Earth, those who were already insane to begin with and those who were at risk. Sovereign also possesses a great number of humans that would otherwise be dead without his cybernetic meddling. The cultists all have reasons to pledge their lives to Sovereign; most owe it.

Unique Cultists:

LOST LAMB; Ninety-Percent conversion cyborgs, Lost Lambs are capable of interfacing directly with Sovereign and spreading his will. Their arms have been replaced with miniaturized versions of the weapons found on Destroyers and their chosen "God". These are almost wholly puppets to Sovereign's will, and are often directly controlled.

A Deity is going to have some sort of 'mystical' ability that can't be easily explained it needs to impress its' potential followers. I was hoping that Bestow Sentience and Information Retrieval would be it. What does 'special access' mean in those terms? Pretty much everything with sensitive information is secured by a username and password, your wording seems to suggest I would only have access to what anyone with Google, patience and a modicum of intelligent searching would.

EDIT: btw I am not tryin to be argumentative, but trying to discuss and come up with something we're both happy with.

Hmm... I want to keep abilities that fit with his "advice, not answers" feel. Maybe I can play up the "doesn't really understand the people he's trying to help" angle more... How about these two?

Father Knows Best: When confronted with a mortal problem, the Proud Father can choose the best route to achieve that goal. However, this path always results in a significant cost to the target. A man could be promoted at the cost of losing his family, or a debate over who inherits a house is resolved by the destruction of said house, etc.

Look at Me: No mortal can lie in the presence of Rekardon, and those who try blurt out more than they were willing. However, those who do answer honestly tend to discover something about themselves or the problem at hand.

Deity Sheet

Deity Names: The Praetors of Phyrexia (Collective, five deities): Jin-Gitaxias (soft g: jin-JITACK-sias), Sheoldred (SHEE-old-red), Urabrask (URA-brask), Vorinclex (VOOR-in-clecks), and Elesh Norn (EL-esh NORN)

Appearances: Jin-Gitaxias, Sheoldred, Urabrask, Vorinclex, and Elesh Norn.

Planar Origin: New Phyrexia (Originally Mirrodin)

Domain: Science and Learning (Jin-Gitaxias), Selfishness and Ambition (Sheoldred), Passion and Industry (Urabrask), Tenacity and Nature (Vorinclex), Law and Spirituality (Elesh Norn)

Traits: The five Praetors tend to find a balance between one another, utilizing each of themselves to the fullest in each direction. They tend to disagree on certain issues (Jin disagrees with Urabrask and Vorinclex on actions and natural order, for example), but they all innately work towards the same goal of spreading their domain to Earth. Their strengths, when combined, make a robust pantheon that covers all aspects of life. Jin-Gitaxias experiments and observes, Sheoldred serves her own ends and spies on enemies, Urabrask passionately works his forges, Vorinclex seeks to let nature run its course, and Elesh Norn establishes a spiritual regime.

Symbols: The mark of the Five Praetors, all becoming one.

Powers:

  1. Tireless Searching: Jin-Gitaxias possesses the ability to instantly interface with the mind of whomever he is talking to. He doesn't have this passively, rather it allows him to open up one's mind like the hood of a car. From this, he can work his powers to dissect the mind of his victims, or implant the language of he and his kin to speak to the flock. This coupled with his endless quest for knowledge make him a dangerous being. Generals can call upon his endless knowledge to get valuable tactical insight, to the point of near divination.
  2. The Whispering One: Sheoldred's powers lie in deceit, and draw power from ambition. She manipulates death and one's corruption. She can either corrupt your body and kill you directly, or corrupt your very soul and warp your morality into her own. She uses this to torture her victims, and while her compatriot Jin-Gitaxias simply looks and learns, she takes joy in tearing out your thoughts.
  3. The Endless Flame: Urabrask's power stems from passion and industry. He spurns his followers to seek their own way, disregarding any rules and regulations. The ultimate goal for him is to have no goal. Urabrask can manipulate flames - both literal and metaphorical. He will stoke the flames in your heart as well as keep his Great Forges alight for eons. He can cause beings of hive-mind societies to suddenly think fondly of individuality as well as spurn workers to passionately enjoy their jobs. Generals can call upon the power of Urabrask to give enthralling speeches and increase morale substantially.
  4. Nature's Fury: Vorinclex is a voracious being, who rose to the top through tooth and claw, becoming the pinnacle of evolution by sheer will. Nature always finds a way, and so Vorinclex can bestow upon his followers the ability to instantly destroy artifacts new and old or assume enormous strength. Soldiers can call upon the strength of Nature to enhance themselves or destroy foreign relics.
  5. Law and Order: Elesh Norn's scriptures are vague, and brilliantly manipulative. She sets rules, taxes, levies, and codes where others do not. She speaks of sacrifice and greater good, encouraging those who follow her to fight and die for the Phyrexian cause. She can smite the unholy ones and relics by outright erasing their existence, or bless the holy and fortify their resolve to perform extraordinary acts of bravery.

Outsider: The Crusaders

  • They are a race of monsters created from blood and sinew, drafted by Jin-Gitaxias and manufactured by Urabrask specifically to serve as front-line warriors and Praetorian Guards. They possess Urabrask's ability to manipulate flames both literal and metaphorical, as well as Sheoldred's ability to manipulate the corruption around them. They are devastating monsters on the field, able to absorb fire to power themselves and to corrupt even the holiest of attacks to effectively counter fire and conversion from other deities. They swing fast and hit first, cleaving any who stand in their way with cold efficiency.

Nation Sheet

Name: The Great Nation of Phyrexia

Flag: [WIP]

Leader: Eli Wallace

Government Type: Representative Republic, led by Monarch (Parliament and King)

Economic Model: Laissez-faire Capitalist

Economic Tier: Scaled 10-1, 1 being best. Mod determined.

Nation Bonus: The Geass

  • Eli Wallace's rise to power was not clean, nor was it without strife. A power was granted to him by the Praetors, specifically Sheoldred, known as the Geass. Her terms was to bring up a nation that would give faith to Phyrexia and allow them the power to take over the multiverse and Eli Wallace would attain the Power of the King. The Geass manifests in the people of Emmeria who cut deals with Sheoldred, offer themselves as experiments to Jin-Gitaxias, display individuality or passion worthy of Urabrask's praise, pray for or show great strength to Vorinclex, or devote themselves to Elesh Norn's scriptures. They range from outright mind-control, to memory-shaping, to telepathy, even to clairvoyance and future-prediction.

Deity: The Praetors

Population Faith: Moderator determined

Devotion:

  • Stores: 0
  • Renewable: 100,000

Internet Presence: 75 gbt/sec

Population Happiness: Mod determined

History:

The Nation of Emmeria wasn't always ruled by the democratic government it is ruled by now, nor was it always Emmeria. It was originally ruled by a cruel and ruthless king, who was a warmonger the likes of which the world wasn't prepared to face. The man's ancestors had established the throne in a violent protest that laid siege to the government buildings and annihilated the entire chain of command. In the chaos, they usurped power and created the monarchy that now rules Emmeria. The most recently passed King was challenged by his sons multiple times, never being defeated in debate or duel. One son was a mere child, who grabbed a firearm to slay his corrupt father. The boy was beaten mercilessly by the guards, and dumped in the ocean to die. The ruthlessness of this king extended onto the battlefield, who mustered every force he could possibly command into blitzkrieg-esque operations on nearby nations to force them to surrender and expand his influence. Years after the final challenge and the exile of the failed assassin-son, a cult arose in the bowels of its cities that saw rise of a man known as Exemplum Emmeria. The 'Paragon of Emmeria' saw the threat in the king, and made a single public statement.

Exemplum Emmeria promised justice, he promised freedom, and he promised an end to the fascist regime that ruled Emmeria with an iron fist. To do so, he called upon the power of a pantheon known as 'The Praetors of Phyrexia' or 'Phyrexia' for short. The king, Sir Jacob Wallace III, was at first amused. However his princes and generals fell, one at a time. They were killed on the field of battle by insubordination, or brutally slaughtered in the peace of their own homes. Death found any who opposed Exemplum. As Exemplum's power grew, the King began to falter. Military orders were hectic, fearful, almost as if the great king feared a single man who hid behind a mask.

Slowly, the world watched as King Wallace III fretted about on the global stage. During one of his speeches, he was approached by Exemplum personally, who handed him a pistol and ordered him to simply die. Committing suicide in a state of hysteria on international television, King Wallace III died in the public eye. Exemplum removed his mask, revealing himself to be Eli Wallace, the prince who was exiled for his failure to kill his father so many years ago. He announced that the vile and corrupt nation of Emmeria was to be rebuilt, arising as a phoenix with the name Phyrexia.

Unique Unit: Leviathan Submersible Aircraft Carrier

  • The Submersible Aircraft Carrier is the epitome of the old England's naval superiority, developed by the late King Wallace III's research division. The Leviathan model aircraft carriers are designed to load up with as many troops and planes as possible, then go under and vanish into the ocean until they reveal themselves to deploy their payload. Massive ships, the Leviathan aircraft carriers will become Princes of a new Hell all their own and command the darkest of oceans, where no light may ever reach them.

What I mean is that you'll be able to instantly pull up any information that isn't heavily protected. No Deity or Ai is completely, 100% guaranteed to do its thing, humans can resist and make countermeasures to protect themselves.

I can't accept those, still, because they're guarantees, they're absolutes. Yes,t here are drawbacks but as they're currently phrased they're still guaranteed to work.

Try this.

Father Knows Best: When confronted with a portal problem, the Proud Father can gain insight on the best possible courses of actions capable by those conducting it, provided that Proud Father has the control, faith, or insight into those mortals.

Look at Me: Proud Father's Faithful do not lie to him. Those controlled or faithful to Proud Father will find it exceedingly difficult to withhold the truth from the Deity.

Oh, sorry. I didn't understand the problem was the absolute nature. I'm fine with your rewrites, is there anything else I need to change before I write up the history?

Military Units

This game's military units will focus on customization of larger (though divisible) regiments. A nation will start by training and building a unit, and then customizing its divisions with different unit types. How you organize them is up to you.

For example,

1st American Infantry Division

  1. Soldiers
  2. Soldiers
  3. Soldiers
  4. Soldiers
  5. Medics
  6. Medics
  7. Engineers
  8. Engineers
  9. Heavy
  10. Snipers

The ratios of customization will reflect what that division has deployed, so 4/10 infantry are soldiers, 2/10 are medics, and so on. Raising 1 Division will take 60,000 people; 10,000 for the division, and 50,000 for support personnel. You won't necessarily be deploying Soldier regiments, then Medic regiments, and so on; they'll be mixed among one another, put into squads with each other, and so on. Those are usually details that you, the player, will iron out, if you so wish. Roleplaying these kinds of details will really pay off.

Armored columns in real life are accompanied by infantry, and will look like this.

1st American Armored Division

  1. Soldiers
  2. Engineers
  3. Engineers

  1. Tanks
  2. Tanks
  3. APCs
  4. Infantry Fighting Vehicles

All the other same rules apply as above.

When you design a new class, don't just make 'A better soldier than the soldier' because that's vague and difficult to translate into your divisions' competence. Make a soldier that specializes in hand to hand combat? One that brings forth faith based abilities? Minigunners? THAT is what I'm looking for.

Aircraft will work the same way, though they can be attached to other units without penalty.

Any questions? Does this seem confusing?

Is there anything you'd like to see, include, or change? What about my new system for units?

Well never been big on the hole support personnel thing, but I doubt any amount of arguing I can do will solve that, so in all honesty, So far the military structure thing appears to be fairly tolerable, and well handled. I like the Idea of Unit structure for the division, as in reality you dont have solid Divisions of just Infantry, or tanks, or medics, or snipers. Though in to days army, most of those unit classes are combined into our mixed unit fighting style, in that basically a squad will consist of a heavy weapons operator, a medic, a sniper, rifle man and a techi, that's a little more advanced, But its definitely infinitely better then seeing an entire army of freaking comandos <.< or rocket soldiers <.< *twitches*
