[Interest Check] Heralds of Amat (Pathfinder)

Seeing if people would be interested in this idea. Would run this in Exalted (with Heroic Mortals at first) if I was more comfortable with the system. But every time I get use to it, my players throw something at me that throws my comfort out the window again.

The mutliverse, a vast place of lands and planes unexplored and explored, of demons and angels walking hand in hand, of the common and exotic in one place at once. A place of extensive wonder and awe to anyone that hails from the Prime Material or any Material planes.

How could anything go wrong with such a place? Hmm, well...

You have lived your entire life on a Material plane, living in a small town heavy with humans, half-elves, and the lording Rakshasa that demanded the loyalty of their lessers. It could be said to have been a peaceful life, serving the Rakshasa, but a life of slavery when they weren't pleased.

But then an event happened, an event so surprising that even the Rakshasa were shocked. A woman walked into town, clad in a simple white dress and red sash, with ears like a wolf, demanding that the Rakshasa swear themselves to her and her cause. Such an act and out in the open left many of the people of the town shocked and utterly confused. Who is this woman and what power does she command that she would make such a demand from Rakshasa of all creatures?

The answers came swiftly as Rakshasa and their most powerful slaves assaulted the woman, intending to kill her or drive her from their lands.

Who was she? A woman of power, a power beyond what the masters of the town held sway over. Why did she make such a demand? As the Rakshasa that attacked her fell, a cadre of soldiers rode in, holding a banner of white with wide crimson circles linking with each other. As the soldiers came in close, the woman spoke to the entire crowd and to the non-Rakshasa. Her voice as pure as snow, as quiet as hunting cat and just loud enough to be heard throughout the town.

“I am Lady Amat, I come into this village to lay the roots of my empire. An empire that will span multiple planes within this mutliverse. Here I claim the founding of the Manath. If any of you wish otherwise, speak now and leave. If any of you wish to become my Heralds entrusted with expanding my domain, walk forward and accept the training needed to start bringing the other local communities to my banner.â€

You and several others step forward soon, your Lady desires Heralds and you shall serve.

Hmm. This is worth using my Pathfinder book for. What are the character creation rules? Are we going to wage multiversal war? :D

I remember a few... details... of our conversations on IRC. *Checks notes.* And one of the neighboring planes.

This sounds quite fun. I'll flip through the book and see what jumps out at me, but I'm leaning toward a wizard/cleric.

Out of curiosity, would a cleric be able to devote himself to Empress Amat and, if so, what would her domains be?

Meh... after some thought, I now dither between Alchemist, Bard or Rogue... either way, they're not going to be the most popular person in town and will likely relish the chance to get out.

Edit:

Welp, I've settled on a Rogue and made his sheet. Working on the background, but Bangerz isn't going to be a popular lad, but he isn't stupid, seeing as serving Amat, if done right, is both a ticket out of town and to quick advancement once the empire gets rolling.

Oh yeah, so how large are these planes? And what's the surrounding region around this town that we have to conquer? Because it might be enough of an effort to take over one plane, depending on how this works.

For the starting plane, I was thinking of having it have five communities and something like 90 square miles of 'vertical' land. Each settlement controlled by a Rakshasa (your home town was the largest so multiple Rakshasa were there). The area is mostly open plains, hills, and forests, with a rich gem mine hidden somewhere.

But you know of nearby portals to realms of elves and drow, goblins and halflings, Lemias and minor dragons, as well as a portal to a plane with Merfolk and other aquatic beasies. All of those as examples, who knows if the rumors are true or not. ^_^

Sorry, missed that. I'll list out the Domains and their sub-domains as given by the APG.

Domains: Charm (Love, Lust), Community (Family, Home), Fire (Ash, Smoke), Glory (Heroism, Honor), Nobility (Leadership, Martyr), and Sun (Day, Light)

Favored Weapon: Great Sword

Now then, why would a Cleric be able to do all this? Well, one is that you're not on the Prime Material. Two, I'll leave that for you to figure out.

This could be pretty fun, but if you want truly heroic characters, you could always run a gestalt game, and you could probably start it at level 1

If I joined, I'd probably play an alchemist or a cavalier since I haven't played them yet

While I'm not against gestalt, I personally think that a Pathfinder gestalt game would be... Too Much Stuff. I've seen gestalt games get silly with the amount of options the players have and their eyes just glaze over as they try to figure out what option that they have would be the best for the given situation.

But then I could go alch/barb, with mutagen and rage, I'd make it rain blood

Hmmmm, what do you think of an Aasimar Psion? Rakshasa's are evil sorts, and well, that just isn't productive at all. That and he wnts to expand upon his own abilities and doesn't wish to be stifled any longer.

I do wish they would've re-did the Psion for Pathfinder though.

Would you be alright with having someone who's never played Pathfinder before trying their hand at it? I've been meaning to.

They are being remade for Pathfinder. Albeit by a Paizo trusted third party while Paizo work on Gunslingers and Magus beta testing.

A true Barbarian could do that without help of the Alchemist's mutagen.

I'm quite fine with allowing an Aasimar. But I'm a stickler when I list books as to what's allowed and what's not. So no Psion for you if I do get this game going.

Should the game run, I'm quite willing to help you learn the Pathfinder system.

How many people are you looking for to run this? We have a good five heralds interested already. :)

So far, the only real positive players that I see is you (Blackadder) and maybe CrazyIvan. The others still need character ideas (No gestalt and no psions). And five players are plenty.

Could I get a link to your sheet or a PM of it, Blackadder?

Of course, if character talk isn't allowed here, then I will bug Haku in a few days for a sub-forum.

I am certainly interested. I'll be doing a multiclass Wizard/Cleric, but right now I have little time to put anything on paper. Once my housemate swallows his pride and decides to get treatment for his seizures, things should calm down, but until then, time is at a premium so I'll be a little slow getting things together. Sorry about that.
