Ok, so Spider man was awesome! The animation, the designs, the fights. Everything about it was amazing. I think it's gotta be one of the best animated movies out there. It's just so ambitious and completely breaks the mold of what animation is. There's so much personality in it as well. It's just so gorgeous to look at everything! The scenes in Gwen's earth are really the best example of how they used color in such an interesting way. Like, that one scene with her dad at the beginning when they're in her room. They use cool colors for Gwen because of her conflict, but warm colors for her dad because he's trying to connect with his daughter and reassure her and everything and it's just amazing. Also, the opening with Gwen in general and how she met Miguel and became a part of the team was amazing. Loved that fight scene with Paper Vulture (that's what I'm calling him). Man, but that ending though. I thought we were gonna get at least a big battle that would go into the next movie, but nope. To be continued with a little tease at what we'll get. At least we have the old spider people back. Seeing Gwen assemble them all made me so happy to see them back in action.

Also genuinely wish we got more Pavitr. He's hilarious and probably my favorite out of the new characters.

It's ironic too, because in the scene with Miles and the Spot, Miles was talking about how "ATM machine is saying machine two times" because the M in ATM is already machine. Honestly, I was instantly on board when watching the first one with its animation style. I'm just really loving the bold approach some studios are now taking with 3D animation, because a lot of 3D animation just has the same style, and it gets very boring. But stuff like Spider verse and the recent Puss in Boots is really making the push for just having fun with the style and making it unique, while having a story that's not dumbed down for the kiddos. That's really what we need in 3D animation to make it as amazing as hand drawn. And Across the Spider Verse really just pushes right into that style and absolutely sells it. You can tell that they weren't afraid with this one, from the success of the original, and went absolutely ham on it.

I'm an artist so I guess I'm just used to noticing the colors and stuff. But it is definitely very striking in the movie, because they had so many experimental shots that was just brilliant with the colors. Like, I think it was when Gwen's dad was finding out that she was Spider Gwen, or one of those scenes with her and her dad, where the background was just one color, but it had the outline of the spider eyes in the background which was amazing. And then absolutely yes with Earth 42. There's such an unease you get from the purples and greens that just puts you in Miles' shoes the second you learn he's not on his earth. And it really sells it with the Uncle Aaron scenes. In the original Spider verse, he's a fun guy the first time you meet him, but here he's just immediately eerie from the get-go and the colors of the backgrounds, with the darkness, just helps to create that feeling.

Yeah, that was hilarious. His personality was just so endearing to me. Wholesome, happy-go-lucky guy. Can't wait to see more of him in the next one. Also, damn, I didn't even connect the tea and ATM thing lol
