Valería listened to her daughter and gave a small nod as they went into the kitchen "How is that possible? I thought they said with how the tumor looked, he had a few months if that." She said softly making sure Carlos was out of earshot.

Max looked at him worriedly not leaving his side while the paremdics got him onto the stretcher "Okay, I'll keep my phone close." She said softly walkimg with him all the way to the ambulance before she went to get Ana from.Adam.

She shook her head and went to start making some of the tea she’d brought with her. “He woke up this morning and he didn’t know who I was.... it shifted so it means they can get to it... we’re gonna have to wait and see on the memory part.” She mumbled rubbing at her face a little.

he frowned some and just watched them cart Jeff off, passing ana back over. “I’m gonna head on home. Everything is done out there but if you wanna go see him tomorrow I can come a little early and take this one around the farm with me.” He suggested.

Valería gave a small nod and sighed softly "Well lets hope this works." She said softly giving her a small smile "How was Christmas though?"

Max gave a nod holding Ana close to her "I will definitely let you know." She said softly before she went inside and locked the doors making sure her phone was all the way up.

“It was good... Pedro enjoyed it. He was feeling pretty good as well which was a plus. Carlos had a great time. Can’t wait to learn how to ride the bike we got him and he’s already done his thank yous last night before bed.” She smiled. “We brought the one for you and dad today. He loves that rucksack already.” She smiled some watching him chatting to her dad in the back yard. “He’s a really good kid.” She smile

Ana held onto her mom sucking on her fist and held ontoher hair still as well “Mama! Juice juice!” She told her wriggling to go get some juice and looked around for Jeff, starting to fuss when she realised he wasn’t there and threatening to throw a rantrum

Max got some juice for her and frowned a bit "Ana no, here have some juice." She said before she turned on the TV to distract her from the fact Jeff was gone. She sighed softly and scrolled through her phone frowning a bit when she landed on an old interview with Jeff from when they had been dating.

Valería nodded some and smiled wide at her grandson "Well I'm glad to hear they had a good day." She said softly "We love him so much Carmen, he is such a sweetheart and just the best grandson we could have ever hoped for." She murmured softly sipping her tea

She smiled some as she watched him. “We thought we wouldn’t ever have kids but the day I met him at the market.... I just knew he was supposed to come home with us.” She smiled tiredly, rubbing at her face a little and went to put carloss bag in the guest room.

Right as Ana was starting to calm down cause she could see her dad on the screen his number flashed that he was calling her and she got fussy again.

Valería and smiled happily "I'm so happy he came into our lives." She said softly following her into the guest room "He can stay as long a he needs to okay?" She said to her

Max quickly answered the phone and sighed heavily "Jeff? Hey are you okay?" She asked hoping he was okay. In their time together she realized how much she still loved him and even if he didn't love her back she wanted him to be okay and didn't want to leave his side.

He sighed quietly rubbing at his face some. “Hey, they’re taking me for surgery in a few hours. Twelve hour surgery. I don’t know what the problem is. They told me but I don’t understand it.... you can come down and check I haven’t died in the mornin.” He smiled tiredly down the line.

she nodded some and got his iron man blanket out. “He’ll appreciate that.” She mumbled her mind in a hundred places until after dinner and they got everybody upstairs and settled into bed with carmen sleeping in the other guest room once she had Carlos down for the night.

Max gave a heavy sigh and nodded softly "Okay....I um....I'll be there in the morning. Am I on backup for if something happens?" She asked bouncing Ana to keep her happy

Valería nodded some and went on with the rest of the night spending time with her family making dinner with them and finally going to bed at the end of the night

“You’re on my emergency contact and on Anas as well.” He mumbled “It should all be fine though.” He mumbled. “I’ll see you later.” He told her tiredly after all the rushing around he’d had around him the past couple hours and hung up before falling asleep, getting taken in for his surgery after he woke up from the nap and they got him back into a recovery unit by five in the morning leaving him to rest.

Carmen groaned a little when she was being shaken awake really early, feeling a little out of sorts until she heard Carlos crying and she woke up quickly. “Hey hey what’s going on?” She sat up and looked over at him, pulling him close.

Max barely slept that night worried sick about Jeff and what could possibly happen if the surgery wasn't a success. She sighed heavily as Ana woke up early that morning and was grumpier than all hell that Jeff still wasn't home

Carlos ran into Carmen's room early that morning from having the worst nightmare he had ever had. He cried and shook Carmen awake "Mommy! Mommy!" He sobbed wanting her to wake up "I....I...I had a nightmare." He sobbed clutching her tight

She was in her bedroom stomping around and crying cause she wanted to go see him but she wasn’t allowed so when Jeff finally saw max walk in it was almost 11am and he was still being kept doped up on painkillers. “Hey!” He called a little louder than he meant to with a sloppy grin.

she frowned turning the light on and pulled him in close rocking him gently. “Shh, shh it’s okay I’m right here okay? Just calm down for me.” She coaxed kissing his head and waited til he was calm enough. “What happened mijo?” She coaxed running her fingers through his hair soothingly.

Max walked in and gave a small smiled as she looked at Jeff all doped up "Hey there." She said before sitting down next to him "How are you feeling?" She asked taking his hand in hers gently

Carlos calmed down just enough to be understandable but refused to let her go "Daddy...didn't make it through surgery....and you...you were so sad...you went with him." He sobbed shaking a bit because he was so scared "It felt so real.."

He just kept grinning at her "I feel good... They fixed my back... I can't feel a thing... Got my number one girl here... Wait... where's our mini me?" He slurred, looking around for Ana "Oh, can she come tomorrow?" He begged, pouting at Max and trying to give her puppy dog eyes "Please?" He smiled at her some more when she agreed "See... This is... This is why even after all this shit... Hell I still love you.... I miss you but we're both so stubborn... I want you in my bed.... Every night... I miss waking up with you." He slurred still grinning at her.

She frowned shaking her head and kissed his forehead, rocking him gently "No, no no baby it's okay... It's okay I'm right here." She murmured to him, kissing his cheek, "I'm not going anywhere, I gotta ake Daddy a couple blankets and books but then I'm coming right back I promise." She murmured, kissing his head "Daddy is gonna be just fine... But even if he wasn't, I'm not going to leave you I promise Carlos. Not now not ever." she told him seriously and kissed his head rocking him still while she held him tightly.

Max looked at him in shock taking a deep breath as she looked at him "I love you too Jeff....very much so." She said softly before giving a small sigh "Get some rest though okay? I'll video chat Ana later." She murmured to him

Carlos held her close shaking his head some "No! No don't leave me! Take me with you please!" He said as he looked at her keeping her close to him not wanting leave her side

“Honey you’re not allowed in there okay? I will be an hour maximum okay? I promise.” She coaxed gently taking him back to the room he was in and getting his iPad out with Edgar snuggled in close. “You can sit up here or downstairs but I need to go so this okay?” She murmured kissing his head. “I’m coming right back after okay?” She murmured eventually getting him calmed down enough that she was able to go, making it to Pedros room with his things in record time, walking in and frowning at the state he was in “Hey.... what’s going on?” She asked his nurse while she was helping him. He was hardly breathing and now she was stressing even more.

he gave her a mock salute before laying back some more and getting some sleep snoring quietly while he lay there for the next few hours waking up and finding her still sitting there. “Hey... what time is it?” He groaned. His painkillers had worn off and now he was just groggy.

Carlos ended up calming down once she had assured him enough that she would be okay. He sat with Edgar close in the room watching Iron Man for the hundreth time waiting for her to return.

The nurse looked at his wife and sighed heavily "Small seizure, we were about to call you." She said softly getting him comfortable again "They're seeing what they can possibly do to get him into surgery today."

Max gave a small smile at him and looked at her watch "Its almost noon." She murmured softly "I was about to get some lunch, they said I could get you something light if you wanted it." She said giving his hand a small squeeze "How are you feeling?"

She just nodded a little and watched him, going to sit next to his bed and took his hand to try and give him comfort even if he wasn’t sure of anything right now. “Our son wanted me to give you hugs from him.... he misses you and we can’t wait to get you better and have you home again.” She murmured giving his hand a gentle squeeze.

Jeff frowned a little but nodded tiredly. “Sore. Stiff. Tired.... Uh... i don’t know if I’m hungry or not... but we will see.” He mumbled, rubbing at his face. “They said it went well so I’m hoping I’ll be back to new in no time.... what was I talking about while I was drugged?” He asked her groggily, watching her some. He remembered everything but he wanted to know if she’d say anything or not

Pedro grunted softly looking at her giving her hand a small squeeze "Tell him...hi...for...me." he panted taking deep breaths to try and keep his breathing regular.

Max gave a small nod and laughed lightly "Oh you know just silly things. Stuff about Ana, tried to give puppy dog eyes but they weren't working so well." She said softly not wanting to tell hil about what he admitted to her. She didn't want to upset him and or have him tell her he didn't mean it.

She frowned some, reaching over and taking his other hand as well, "Hey, hey look at me, just rest, they're gonna try and get you in today alright?" She coaxed gently, frowning when he started getting really tight again and she just sat with him, rubbing his chest gently to soothe him, calling her mom "Hey... I'm gonna be late back, I know I promised him but an emergency has come up." She told her, explaining what was going on until his nurse came in and she hung up.

He frowned, sighing heavily. "Really? Nothing else at all?" He muttered, laying back andstaring at the ceiling. "Didn't spill my guts or anything while they got me doped up on painkillers... Might as well call it fuckin' truth serum cause I know I told you what I've been thinking for a while now." He muttered.

Pedro groaned softly as she got off the phone taking a deep breath "Help...me..." he whispered not taking his eyes off of her while the nurse looked him over before he started to go into another seizure falling over onto Carmen trapping her on the bed

Max frowned softly and gave a small sigh "You remember everything you said?" She asked softly before taking his hand in hers "Look at me mister, how was I supposed to know huh? I was worried if I told you that you'd blow me off and push me away again." She said to him before giving his hand a squeeze

He frowned some, staring at the bed sheets but letting her hold his hand and not looking at her. He was right back to the way he had been when they met with how closed off he could be and he was getting nervous about her knowing now. "I don't... I don't know that we're good together though... Cause I cannot... and I will not have you leave me like that again... I can't fuckin do that." He muttered, finally looking up at her.

Carmen frowned, staying still as she could so she didn't hurt him but frowned some when they realised he wasn't regaining consciousness, "Shit... Is he gonna be alright?" She asked as they finally got her moved away and she tried staying close as possible, shaking a little until they started moving him out, 'Look we can take him in now but it's still a high risk and the longer we wait the more risky it is, today's seizures have proved that.' She noded at his nurse and just thanked her quietly, going to wait out in the hall and calld her mom to bring Carlos over to her

Max shook her head as she looked at him "Jeff I promise you, I will NEVER do that again." She said quietly before she kissed his cheek gently "I love you, I love our daughter, and I don't ever want to loose you both." She told him

Carlos came in with his grandma about 20 minutes later looking at his mom scared to death "Mommy? Whats going on? Where is Daddy?" He asked hugging her legs tight trying to stay calm for her

He frowned squeezing her hand gently and took a deepp breath, "One more try then?" He asked her quietly, "See where it goes?" He managed a little smile then, presing the button to get some more painkillers but at least feeling calmer about everything now that it was all off hi chest.

She frowned and took him to sit with her, explaining that he was having the surgery today insted of tomorrow so they needed to stay there just to make sure everything was gonna be fine and she got his ipad out the bag for him to use but also his homework just so it was done "We'll get taco bell tonight as a treat alright?" She smiled some.

Max sat at home with Lana smiling happily as she watched her color before bed. Things could not be better for their family right now. Her and Jeff were doing great as a couple, Ana was doing well in school and she couldn't be happier. Jeff was out at the moment filimg for this movie called The Losers, he seemed really excited for it and she was as well. Though she was a little worried, she had missed her monthly bill and if she was pregnanr again, she was worried what Jeff would think.

Pedro stood outsid3 at the red carpet event with Carmen smiling happily at her as she got out of the limo. She looked exquisit tonight and he couldn't wait to show her off. It was one of his first appearances back since his surgery and he was ready to get out there. He was still filming Kingsmen getting his accent perfect for it. The surgery had gone great for him and the cancer had gone into remission for the time being.
