A storm washed into the river basin north of mighty Otenzal the night before last

Ever since then, the ground has not stopped quaking

Something is moving in the deep jungles

The drums of a distant army advancing through the undergrowth thundered along every ridge and riverbank. Animals scattered to the four winds. The trees shuddered for they could not move away from the advancing threat. The ground trembled. It may have sounded like a legion, but a single shape emerged from the dark foliage, glimmering splinters of sunlight twinkling like stars overhead. He woke up in the embrace of white water rapids. They were slowly pushing him along smooth stones, but not quickly enough. He shook himself dry as he stood. This was a monster that had a name - Kong - as well as an identity beyond what the smaller folk spread around campfires in stories and hushed legends. He also had a purpose. He denied the universe his demise until he could achieve it, though nature and fate seemed intent on taking him into oblivion regardless.

He clenched one hand about the handle of his warclub, a spiked kanabo that had grown dull from overuse. Now purely a bludgeoning weapon, he nevertheless wielded it without restraint. It was one of the few things that could endure his titanic power, after all. He swept it from side to side, denting ancient trees and putting craters in boulders that were many times his size with an almost nonchalant ease. He seemed to be testing the limits of his reach more than anything, still barely awake despite having been deposited here by fierce winds and spiteful seas.

That's when a significant pain stabbed him deep in the stomach. He knew very well the agony of hunger, the despair of letting one's body consume itself. He reached for anything that bore fruit, chewing quickly and greedily, even through the tough seeds. He stumbled along worn paths and followed streams and tributaries. The direction didn't matter.

A tiger roared to challenge him. It was the apex of the species as far as specimens go, at least before giant versions were involved, and would have devoured an adult man without difficulty or hesitation. Kong stood his ground. Not once did he take a step back. This was merely a simple distraction for the time being. He gave a deep snarl that rivaled the jungle beast's and it chose to flee. Kong continued towards his undefined goal, wanting to leave the dense forest and battle his way through innumerable foes.

Whether he knew it or not, he was heading north - straight towards the city of Illyria. There he would find a fresh fight... but only if he was allowed to arrive there in the first place.

The wind in his beard was a feeling Votie had grown very fond of. Sure he had felt the sensation before up in the stomping grounds…but this was different. The air was warmer, dry in some places and getting progressively more humid. He had seen several new things he had never seen before…a few of them he even landed on relishing in their crumbling beneath his feet. Yet the landscape was seeming to change again and it was getting to be a little less comfortable. This dense jungle he leapt through kept having trees in his landing zone and frankly he was beginning to get tired of plucking the branches from between his legs, a few of them had even been caught in his armpits and pokey as they were it was only getting worse as the trees got more dense and taller.

The sounds of snapping branches would announce his arrival as he crashed through the canopy and Landed with a thunderous sound atop an orange and black striped cat looking creature. A malicious smile would spread across his face as he relished in the sensation of bones crunching and muscles tearing beneath his feet. He would gaze down curiously at the beast beneath him, moving his feet off of its head and chest to survey the damage. “What a pretty pelt you have little kitty.” he would say with a twisted grin. Grabbing the beast by its foot he would lift its ruined carcass out of the jungle floor getting ready to jump again before he saw him in his peripheral vision. He would turn his head and spot Kong giving him a slack jawed look of surprise,

“Oi…your pretty big for a small folk…was this your kitty?” he would ask dangling the tiger carcass in front of him. “was gonna make me a new loincloth but if its yours then you can have the first pick of its pelt…im a fair guy you see.he would say with a smile that was an odd mixture of malice and friendly intent.

Kong's statuesque facial expression twitched angrily. He knew he had just been insulted, and by another giant no less. Monsters of that particular kind sometimes had actual rocks for brains, however. This one didn't seem to be an exception. Veins furrowed along Kong's brow as he clenched his jaw. His golden eyes flashed with a distinct intellect for battle. His warclub tapped the ground once, then twice. Instead of flying off the handle, however, Kong approached the tiger-slayer without the slightest hint of fear.

"I'm no small folk," he snarled, grabbing hold of the dead feline by the scruff of its thick neck.

"I've heard stories of giants that stand taller than trees. Their footsteps are like thunder, their strength a violent earthquake,"

He gripped the tiger's spine with such force that even the dense bone started to crack almost like plaster.

"And when they die, they become indistinguishable from the mountains," he looked at the leaping terror straight in his beady eyes.

Kong wrenched the tiger's skull away, peeling it clean from the pelt along with a deluge of bones, organs, and visceral contents. He effectively turned the thing inside-out, scooping raw remnants of flesh and meat into his mouth and chewing without a second thought. Heart, brains, lungs, liver... he kept his eyes locked with the giant's even as tiger blood dripped and flowed freely from his teeth.

"I have no tribe. I have no clan, yet I know that I am no small folk,"

With his belly full, he pulled back with his warclub and swung with a mighty bellow roaring from his chest.

"THUNDER CRASH!"

Somewhere nearby, lightning struck the earth. Thunder rolled away into the hills. A storm was approaching... and was perhaps already upon them.

The ground had been shaking for awhile, ever since she had entered the jungle. Her destination...she was between jobs, and thus wasn't in a hurry to go anywhere. The more concerning part was the storm that was coming, which at least she could make a shelter for herself, to stay as warm as possible.

She trudged through the forest, looking for a good camping spot to set up before the sky darkened any more, as the jungle wouldn't stay dry when the way started. IT was always best to set up early, as she could make adjustments without having to fight the elements. She found a large rock in the forest, raised a few feet off the ground, which would be perfect for sleeping on. So she put up her barrier, squares of pure magic that would interlock together to make a seamless dome that would protect her from the elements.
Just as she unrolled her sleeping bag, propping it up on the rock, she heard booming voices loudly challenge each other to fight. As if to accentuate the point, lightning flashed across the sky. Sounded ominous, but she wasn't helpless. If they decided to come for her, she would fight back. But otherwise, the two foes could fight each other, and she would just keep an eye on them, considering the air was thick with moisture, the rain about to start falling down.

Votie would smile a goofy toothy grin as he noticed his words getting under The stranger’s skin. Watching him skin the tiger and consume its most nutrient rich flesh he would continue his grin. Listening to his mentions of the Ancient titans of old would cause his chest to puff out with a bit of pride. “No clan? No tribe? You might just be a Sm-“ He was cut off by the shout and the club swinging his way. It was a blur but he did see the blow coming yet he was nowhere near fast enough to dodge it instead he relaxed his muscles and took it directly to the face. He could practically feel his bones splintering and shifting beneath the war club’s terrible impact.

He would be knocked off of his feet stumbling backwards in an effort to maintain his footing but failing and instead taking a tumble. Before his body hit the ground however his legs would reflexively respond and straighten out, the muscles like coiled springs propelling him nearly forty feet backwards and causing him to land with a heavy thud yet still on his rather girthy feet. His hands would rise to cradle his face and he would let out a low pained groan…which would turn into peals of laughter. “Well Ya damn sure dont hit like a smolfolk, thats a right proper giant swing it was.” He would say lowering his hands from his face revealing the crimson rivulets flowing from his nose and his upper lip.

Let me show ya mine.” He would say with a grin as he crouched low and put his hands on the ground scooping handfuls of jungle debris and earth to ensure he had a good grip. His stance was like that of an olympic runner and for a brief moment his muscles seemed to tighten and coil. “LEAPING TREMOR STOMP!!!” He would shout as his leg muscles fired and sent him hurtling towards Kong like a horizontal meteor. His hands grip on the ground allowed him to flip 180 degrees in the air so that he flew feet first at the Club wielding Man whom Votie had already decided was the one he sought. Should the man survive the blow Votie would serve him honorably…should he not, Votie would consume him in an effort to take his essence and carry it on into his future endeavors.

Kong stood in place - unwavering and unflinching. As the beast from the hills soared away on wings of momentum afforded by Kong's warclub and every muscle in his arm, the fledgling giant responsible felt his brow furrow. Anger had been replaced with a steady determination. Such a feeling came from finding worthy foes, which were becoming fewer and farther between. He widened his stance, expecting a tackle or hammer-blow from the brute. But what he saw instead caused him to crack a small grin.

He had often heard tales of towering monsters that soared in the sky. These legends often became muddled with those of rocs, thunder eagles, or other such giant birds. Perhaps even a dragon or two became the subject of the strange phenomena. One thing he noticed was that even as he scoured the land, raided from west to east and back again, the stories remained somewhat similar.

Reclusive shamans high in the Paizu Mountains called them "cloud leapers". Soothsayers in the West Empire warned him of the suddenness of their attacks. The Republic had once barred travel from Ryke for fear of the "falling monsters".

He wanted to believe it at first. It made perfect sense. If he did admit that such a random occurrence was real, however, it would meant that he had to -

"HRGKH-" he grunted through his teeth as a wall of sheer force collided with his broad chest.

He made no attempt to guard or block or even move. Two enormous feet meant for stomping the life out of smaller things, designed from inception and a brutal life of crushing to survive, made complete and unimpeded contact with his body. Kong thought he could stomach the weight of the impact. He thought he could prove himself the absolute strongest in a contest of raw physical strength.

Little did he know that in such a battle, to stand up and survive was the purest measure of strength. He realized this halfway between the initial blow and him careening into a nearby cliff. The rocky face did little to stop him, but he understood now. This was how giants were meant to be. This was how he was meant to be. The smoke hadn't even cleared before he started digging himself out from the rubble. He felt lighter than usual. He felt more at ease.

He felt... happy.

He clawed his way out of the stone, kicking dust and debris aside as he did so. Just as his new friend took his warclub straight to the head, so too did Kong take a receipt straight to his heart. He appeared in the framework of the makeshift tunnel and popped his head from side to side. He sighed.

And then he laughed. He laughed like he had never done so before and stamped his warclub against the ground over and over again, sending ominous drumbeats into the surrounding jungle.

"That's it! That's it!" he cackled, spitting a mouthful of blood onto the ground.

"That settles it! Let's wage war together and sail the seas - only the strongest should be free!"

Despite the horrendous rattling he received and the obvious strains of internal damage wracking his torso - which was already bruising horrendously with a deluge of broken blood vessels throughout - Kong seemed completely at ease.

Rowan watched the titans fight with interest while snacking on some jerky and dried fruits, and a little of popped corn. The fight was good, if not short, as the gigantic by comparison beings hit each other with enough oomph to do damage. Nice. They didn't seem to want to kill each other, so that was better than nothing.

A part of her, that vicious part of her, wanted the East Empire to burn for the crimes of their government. IF the general was here at this moment, she would kill him with everything and anything she could. The nasty shit wasn't around though, and was no where to be found. So either way, if there were any military or governmental buildings, she would take her anger out on them instead of the civilians. Those part of the system, that profited off of the plague spreading, those she would take her anger out on.

Opening her Barriers for Dummies book, she flipped to a page, reading the right words to remind herself how to make her barriers move. She cast out her magic, and the barrier responded. Metallic, thick, insect-like legs grew from four sides of the barrier, lifting it off of the full -sphere- barrier off the ground. In her barrier, Rowan would walk towards the village when the giants started moving, following behind at a slow rate of 15 miles an hour- not so fast, but she would be riding in comfort.
