Rules of the Game:

You're the good guys, not antiheroes or good villains.

Base experience is 3 points per page of the IC thread, not including whatever page we're currently on. This is given automatically, and you can spend it whenever. More will be given for good roleplaying, extra ideas, and so forth. As a special note, putting up dossiers in the NPC thread will be likewise rewarded. I use those a lot, and I can never remember who I named what.

Put characters in the appropriate subforum, and just tack on a post everytime you spend xp. Please keep a running total of what you've spent.

Any Charm in the MoEP's or First, Second, or Third Book's of Sorcery is fair game as written. The Scroll of the Monk, Heroes, or Lost Races requires oversight. Ink Monkey and Errataed charms do likewise. Yes, I know they're canon, but so is Obsidian Shards of Infinity and Epic Zeal. Other elements are allowed depending on whether or not I have the books, etc. The Return of the Scarlet Empress is explicitly not canon. She might be marrying the EB, but I've got plans I don't want to reveal yet.

Custom Artifacts, charms, spells, etc, are fair game and strongly encouraged.

You can pick either way to handle backgrounds gained in play. If you spend xp on it, it will have a certain amount of plot immunity. A certain amount is not infinite, however. If you pick a fight with Three Weasels, the Greatest Thief Who's Ever Lived, and suddenly you wake up with all your stuff stolen, don't be terribly shocked. I'm not out to nerf you.

A certain amount of running away is expected. Not all fights/debates/conflicts are to the death. Any problem that is to the death will have at least one way out, and almost always three. The exception is situations you guy put yourselves into I cannot foresee. The corollary to this is occasionally you'll be opposing people vastly more powerful than you. If you wind up opposing someone who's a league up or so, remember that while combat power scales exponentially with Essence, intelligence does not.

Finally, who's got a flying ship or enough money to rent one?

I've got a hovering nest or 'roaches, does it count? ^_^

If not, we can hijack one form whatever bad guys happen to cross the path of five Solars...

I sure there's at least one MacGuyver in the group, and given the setup, I'm sure a few of the sorcerers, necromancers, or Exalts at the party will have a ballpoint pen, a 2-ply roll of toilet paper, and a paper fan he can use to rig one :D

I'll go get my sheet up in the next day or two at most. That online sheet holder probably deleted my sheet again by now, but I should still have my original of course.

I've got sail as favored, but am a bit weak on the resources.. that said.. I also have larceny as favored. :-P

I'm going to make one tweak to Kana before we start up, shuffle something around so she has a dot of socialize. Forgot to change that when she went from volcano shut in to person who spent a fair bit of time on a ship.

Feantari: okie dokie.

Well, if no one starts with a ship, we're going to run a prequel in Lookshy as you get one. Otherwise the first year of the game will be travelling east, and the world will end before you get there. There will be a plethora of bad guys around, but I was hoping to jump in media res and have them at the exciting part, the sky being on fire.

Can we as the group buy one? Have each player sacrafice like 4 xp for the airship we all get? We brought it from Crazy Ackbar's used Skyship emporium and coffee house. Where he guarantees the airship won't blow up within the first 50 feet.

Sure. But be aware that while Crazy Akbar is crazy, he doesn't make insane guarantees. He promises the airship isn't currently exploding, and the rest is up to you. He's dealt with Twilights before.

A basic (read: shady) airship is 2 dots, while a decent one is three. So six or nine xp between you.

Well right now I've 6 to spare if anyone else wants to chip in. I'd rather we all joined in so it'll be less for each person.

Hmm, Mechanically Kana could probably be tweaked to pick one up, but I'm not sure it makes sense IC.. But, I've got 1 xp laying around and ought to be able to free up two to bring us to 9 total. Maybe Kenchiro ran into her at some point and was looking for someone who could captain or some such.

If someone also wants to drop 3 or two drop 6 total we could have a real airship and not some namby pamby thing. Part of me wants to have it be a Zepplin of Doom, that could just be the fact I'm getting a very Steampunk vibe from the game.

I spent every drop of starting xp we got, but I'd be glad to go into xp debt to help pay for it. Perhaps my character spends time he'd have otherwise spent improving his skills bartering alchemical items for parts, or treating a sick magitechnician, or creating parts for the airship itself alchemically instead of making his usual potions and such. However you want to make it work.

Well considering no ones chiming in I'm thinking just grabbing a LARGE TRANSPORT EXCELLENT AIR BOAT to start with. We can modify and make it something proper for a group of twilights to fly around in as we go. Maybe go into the wyld and get a flying behemoth to replace the gas bag and then armor it up. Maybe some lightning balista's and then we can get fancy. Still it's a fixer upper. If the GM would prefer we can have a higher level that's not working quite to the level of what it says in the book. Honestly it's just fluff right now and something to tinker on.

Guys, I don't think I have the time to play now.

Is it a problem if I have my char frozen in utero and start when things get better?

Urk. So be it; things happen. Hopefully we'll still be here when you come back.

Otherwise, tomorrow evening EST, we're going to get going. If someone's bought a ship and is ready to run with it, cool. Otherwise I'll assume you bought one from Crazy Akmad, and crashed it into the trees upon arrival. Really, it's not that big a detail right now.

Real life happens, it's all cool. Much better it happen now than right in the middle of a fight scene or something. The amount of Retconjuration you have to do when a PC vanishes in an important battle (or worse, social combat)...

Post is up. I forgot to mention this in the rules, but I'll roll basic perception rolls for everybody. IRL, I'd let you do it, but on PbP games it usually just goes faster this way. Feel free to roll your own if you want one.

In general, when you roll dice, please give me a complete description of the roll and link to whatever dice roller you're using. So you've might post "Wits 3 + Awareness 3 +2d stunt, for eight total dice. link. Four successes." Call your own 1d and 2d stunts. Anyone can nominate anyone else for a 3d stunt, and if one person bumps, it counts. Please don't game the system. I'll call the NPC's stunts like PCs for a bit so everyone gets an idea of how I treat them. After that NPCs don't stunt much.

Final note: if you're using Invisible Castle, be careful with the hits=7 prompt. It won't always count 10's twice.

Just got back to civilization, give me a few hours to figure out this jet lag thing and I will be good to go.

Reaver, I'll shave off enough to toss 3xp toward a ship and get you something backstoryish to figure out character interaction stuffs.

honestly, I can drop the demon summoning Thaumaturgy and donate up to 7 xp towards a ship. I don't exactly care for it. It'll just mean either someone else will need to summon to help with his projects or he'll need to prioritize Sorcery.

EDIT: Dropped Demon Summoning procedures and the one Enchantment and Weather Working. Enchantment is an Art he'll learn eventually though. Freed up 8 xp - as many as need be can go toward the ship. If they're not all needed, I'll save the others towards learning an MA excellency, real Craft charms, and an offensive Combo.

EDIT2: I hope putting my OOC stuff at the end of the post was ok. I know different groups do it different ways. If you'd prefer to use a different standard in this game, just tell me what to do.

I believe between us we have enough for a decent airship now. I think Feantari, Reaver, and I were all willing to throw in 3 xp each for a 3-dot airship.

Did we have a model from one of the books to start off of, or do we need to define this thing ourselves? Because my character will be all over learning more Craft stuff if we have a project he can work on. (Martial Arts, Medicine, and Craft are pulling him so many different directions right now :P )

Actually if your throwing in 6, I'm tossing in 6 and Fean is tossing in 3 then we have enough for a 5.

Hehe. Or, he could have that charm and we have a Pimp your Ride interlude sometime. :-P Hmm.. 5 dot ship... 's going to need one heck of a name.
