It was that time of year again now that the season known as Summer had drifted by. The campus of Huntsville University was full of life once again and most people couldn't be happier. As always, the campus was swirling with nervous freshmen, who were more than likely filled with hopes and dreams along with everyone else known as upperclassmen, who knew the real truth. As people moved in and walked around the campus, the Greeks, sororities and fraternities, couldn't wait to set up the football stadium with their letters and booths for the annual Greek Week event. Most people were already there with their booths fully set up and most were just out there to enjoy the festivities. All of the sororities and fraternities are lined up beside each other though spread out enough to give each other some space.
Abigail was sitting outside at the campus coffeehouse as she sipped her iced mocha latte. She was suppose to be setting up the booth for the event today but left that up to everyone else to do while she relaxed for the evening. She smiled as she looked up at the clear, blue sky before her then turned her gaze to find the sun, which was shining bright, as always. Abigail took another sip of her iced mocha latte before she stood up with a sigh and made her way towards the football field, where the Greek Week event was taking place. She had a pair of sunglasses placed on the top of her head, a t-shirt that represented her sorority and a pair of shorts and open toed flats. Once she had made it to the Alpha booth, she smiled and waved to her fellow sisters and looked at everyone else's booth.
"No one can compare to our delicious baked goods." She had muttered as she waved her hands out at the brownies, cookies and pieces of cakes before them. She had saw that the Beta Gamma boys had a grill and were barbecuing over there. She had shook her head and saw a few girls come up to their booth. She smiled in the form of a greeting as the girls looked interested. Abigail chatted with the girls for a few minutes and even handed them one of the neatly, decorated and organized brochures, which Abigail made herself. The girls had intriguing looks upon their little, adorable faces as Abigail waved them off then sat on the edge of the table.
She had loved events such as these and wondered who else was out here already, besides Christian, who was manning the grill at the Betas table. Abigail took out her phone and sent out a multiple of text to people that she surrounded herself with.
To: Calvin ♥
Please tell me that you are here at this Greek event. I want to see you.
To: Tonio
Better not be on a picnic without me. Where are you?!
To: Shanna
Girl, where you at? Not out here representing, I see.
To: Kennedy
So... You going to show up some time today? LOL.
After sending out those texts, she had seen a few more girls come up to their booth and offered them some of their refreshments. She talked about the sorority and it's slight history, as she didn't want to bore the girls. The girls took a brochure as Abigail made a face at them behind their backs as her sisters laughed. "You guys didn't see that." She muttered softly as she went behind the table to sit down and had Amanda talk to some girls. She had checked her phone to see if anyone had responded to her messages yet but nothing. Abigail snagged a brownie and started to take small bites from it.
Christian had his men lined up in the fraternity house like little soldiers and he was their general. He waltzed past them while words came from his lips. "Alright, men. We're going to be out there in the blistering sun, recruiting people to this house. And of course, they must have that Beta look. Got it?" The fraternity members nodded their heads in agreement as he assigned people to their duties. One guy carried the grill, two of them carried the ribs and another the cooler filled with drinks. On their way down there, they see the football already filled with other Greek houses.
He had his brothers set up the booth while he fired up the grill, the smelly aroma of charcoal filled the air around them. Soon, he threw on about four slabs of ribs and started to turn them until they were ready then he'd take them off the grill and loaded them with BBQ sauce and sat them out front. "Only for people that visit our table." Christian said as he pointed his tongs at his fellow brothers then turned around while continuing to grill a few more ribs and lay them out.
Christian had noticed that a few minutes went by as more and more people were starting to fill up the football field now. He had put on the charm and waltzed over towards the front of the table now, smiling at a few potential men that came their way. Christian talked and talked about the fraternity and might've built it up a little bit too much. His eyes scanned over some more guys that we coming forth and grabbed the tray of ribs, holding it out towards them as a fellow brother held out plates and napkins, along with moist towelettes.
As soon as he had got the chance, he sat down, wiping his forehead from the beads of sweat that had appeared. He had pulled out his cell phone and opened up Instagram and took a few pictures of himself. One of the pictures he had posted, he had captioned it: Beach afterwards or nah? Comment below. Christian waited to see what people were going to comment before he stood up and stretched before asking some of his brothers to follow him over towards the Alpha table, their sister sorority. "Christian!" Abigail squealed as she hugged him then eyed over the rest of the guys he had behind him.
"What's going on?" She asked with a curious look placed upon her face as he shrugged his shoulders. "Not much. Just wondering if some of your ladies wanted to go over to our booth and attract a few more guys and we'll return the favor here." Christian said while he bit his bottom lip as Abigail rolled his eyes. "Well, Alpha's to the rescue, as always. Sure. We'll help." She had picked out a few girls as they walked over to the Beta table and conversed with the guys they had attracted and handed them brochures.
