Mother: Valene Creed; 51, Teacher, They have a good relationship, as everyone with the Patch, and often meet in the gym for workout sessions together or a walk around the park. Veda and her mother both disapprove of Vera's choice, but Valene has nothing to say about it.

Father: Romilly Creed; 55, Food Sustainability Scientist, they have a great relationship, albeit as of late they've been rather estranged because of Vera's decision. Her father was the one who taught her how to swim.

Sister: Vera Creed; 19, Factory Worker. Although they used to be thick as thieves, over the years Veda has had a hard time connecting to her sister, and consequently drifted apart. Recently Vera has applied for the Marriage Pact, which Veda doesn't really approve of.

Students: Between the ages of 5 and 8; She gets along great with her students. Teaching, especially to kids, is something that she enjoys doing. Seeing their shining faces every morning gives her a sense of fulfillment knowing that she's doing something useful and instructive.

Persona: Veda has a rather relaxed and melancholic demeanor. She's always been one to question things, but her mother and father taught young Veda to keep questions for the Glass District. Since then, she's kept her thoughts and questions to herself, becoming ever more compelled to understand the world in which she lives in. She feels almost complete when she's in the Glass District teaching - where she feels something she can't quite describe. She gets a similar feeling when she's floating on the water, when she's alone with her thoughts and connected to something out of her intellectual grasp. She needs to understand, she wants to experience and explore what it means to live.

Backstory: Born to Valene and Romilly Creed, both of whom applied for the Marriage Pact rather late in life because of the duties they both felt toward their careers. After applying for the Unit Status a couple years later, they gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Veda was the model child, quiet and obedient, until she could speak - in which every other word was "why?" Once she started her schooling, Veda found that she had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. She spent half her childhood swimming in the lake and the other half curled up in the library.

When her Placement Day arrived she was pleasantly surprised when her Lifelong career turned out to be exactly what she wanted. She had worked hard for the position of course, but never really expected it to come to life. After a few years of assisting other teachers, she was assigned her own her own class. That was almost two years ago and she's been enjoying every moment of it. When she was 18 she elected to live in her own apartment, and has been on her own for four years now. Veda frequents Cloud District almost daily, and enjoys spending time at the gym and the park. That's where she saw her first graffiti marking, and where she continues to see fresh paint and whispers of the Pill.

Sola likes to believe the best about people. She is incredibly loyal and kind, well liked within the community. An eternal optimist, she always looks for the positive side of a situation. She is incredibly honest, to a fault. This often causes her to say what she is thinking with little regard to consequence. A very hands-on person, she cares little for the planning side of things and prefers to be on the front lines. Impatient and frequently restless, she is the opposite to her brother, Shasta.
It was a rainy autumn evening the day that Solara Feivel was born. The daughter of the Spark Alpha Solomon Feivel, she came into existence outside of the walls of Tranquility. Sola and her elder brother, Shasta, grew up within the wide Ruins of Spark territory. Her mother worked as a healer, while her father worked to slowly infiltrate Tranquility.

Ever since she was a child, she always found herself to be interested in two main things: art and people. She would spend long days in the Forest, drawing everything from deer to wildflowers with pencils and paper found from the ruins of an old art store. Drawing always put her at ease. The only thing she loved more was to spend time in the Market Square, talking with other Spark member.

When Sola was fifteen years old, her father and mother led an expedition outside of the Ruins to try and find people surviving in the wilderness. She and Shasta waited for their return, but they never came back. After one year of no central power, Shasta became the new Spark Alpha at age twenty five.

When she grew old enough, she knew what she wanted to do. She wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a Scout. At age sixteen, she began formal training under the Spark’s lead stealth personnel. At age eighteen, she made her first venture into Tranquility to distribute the Pill. In her four years as a Scout, she has brought many people over to the Spark’s side.

Once things stabilize and Shasta confirms the future of the Spark, Sola wants to go on the route that her parents took and see if she can figure out what happened. In the meantime, she continues combat training and Pill delivery. Sola lives in the Grand Oak Hotel, in a suite on the same floor as her brother. She often times has a hard time sleeping and can be found wandering around the Ruins late at night.
- Sola’s favorite weapons are a pair of small hunting knives that used to belong to her father. She keeps them under her shirt, strapped against her side, when she goes on a delivery.

Skills :: Kais is, first and foremost, a sharp-shooter. He is truly adept at killing people without getting anywhere near them. In close-quarters his skills are somewhat less than well-honed, but given an impossible distance and his trusty rifle, he's apt to make living things not-living. He's a fair hand with electronics--more software than hardware, but in a pinch he could handle either--and he has excellent spatial memory.
Relationships ::

Kais grew up outside of Tranquility with Solara and Shasta. Having very little family, himself, he often interacted (insofar as he ever interacted with anyone) with these siblings. They were the closest thing he ever had to friends, due to the fact that they were somehow able to overlook his oddities and see the person inside.

Solara Feivel - Before taking the position of Strategist, Kais was Solara's partner for pill-runs inside Tranquility. His job was to keep his sharp eye on her from afar--keep her covered in case anything went wrong. Since taking up new responsibilities, however, Kais has had less time to spare for her--and he feels guilty whenever she has to go into Tranquility with someone else or, worse yet, on her own.

Shasta Feivel - Kais has always been close friends with Shasta--he trusts and is trusted in return, even before Shasta was Alpha Spark. Since taking up his new position as Strategist, that trust has been tested and--if anything--deepened from the pressure. Kais trusts Shasta with his life, and gives to him the sort of deep loyalty that only the best leaders deserve. If Shasta says something must be done a certain way, that is the way that Kais does it, without question.

Personality :: Kais has two sides: the professional and the casual. The professional in him is the silent type: Speak only when absolutely necessary (excepting the case when a truly excellent joke presents itself); get business done; if you can't do it well, don't do it at all; know your limits. He has rules and he follows them. Not many rules, mind you, nor many scruples, but those that he does have he follows to the letter. He follows orders well, however--whenever his scruples conflict with the Spark Alpha's scruples, he's unlikely to cross the boundaries set for him. He has a dry sense of humor, especially when he is acting The Professional, and is not unlikely to crack jokes that leave his fellows staring blankly at him. The experience doesn't bother him--not The Professional--what matters to him is that it was amusing to him.

The casual Kais is what happens when The Professional tries to let his guard down after too long of watching his back. Casual Kais is socially awkward. He makes dry jokes and then feels bad that no one else thought they were amusing. He wants to be liked for being smooth, but generally those who do like him, like him because his awkwardness is endearing. Most people never see Casual Kais, and those who do are, almost without fail, surprised that someone so terribly bad at interacting with humans could have been hiding behind that smooth Professional all along.

Backstory :: Kais was raised solely by his father, Atair, outside of Tranquility. His mother died in childbirth, leaving Kais and his father alone in their family. His father was a solitary man, who had loved Kais' father as much as his own life--but he saw in their son the life of the mother, passed on. And so Atair raised Kais as best he knew how; he was a solitary man, and knew little about people, and still less about children. They spoke little but interacted much; creating a quiet life for themselves in which communication without words was much more important than speaking.

While Kais' childhood could hardly be considered usual--he never learned to play games, he interacted with very few other children, and he was never treated as if a child was something different than an adult--his father taught him what he knew. And what he knew was how to shoot a gun, how to communicate with a computer better than he did with other humans, how to end a life and then live with it. So these were the skills that Kais learned. As he aged, the other Sparks wrote him off less frequently as "that kid who talks weird" and began to recognize him as "that young man with a useful set of skills." He trained as a soldier among those older than him and showed aptitude not only for ranged combat, but for planning and strategy. When Sola became a Scout and began to take pills into Tranquility, he volunteered to go with her; if for no other reason than because he would never have forgiven himself if she had gotten into trouble when he might have been able to prevent it.

When Shasta took the place of Alpha Spark, Kais was asked to become his Strategist. It was an offer he couldn't well refuse; though it deprived him from accompanying Sola to Tranquility on more than one occasion, he took up new responsibilities as Spark Strategist.
Over the years, Kais has collected a small arsenal of weapons. He's named them, each and every one, and has been known to refer to them as if they were alive. His oldest and most trusted companion is Bane--the sniper rifle that his father gifted him on his thirteenth birthday.

PERSONALITY: Ava is a very smart woman, and is a very engaging conversationalist. She knows how to charm the senses away from anyone she targets, and isn’t forgiving towards her enemies. Whatever her reasons for being so may be at the moment, Ava can be very very kind and civil and make you feel like she really values you and what you suspect to be your friendship. She can also be very persuasive and convince many people, especially in the diamond sector, of many things. When it’s of use to her, she can also be extremely frightening, using only her body language and her voice. Ava uses her skills in conversation and secrecy to navigate her way to the top of the social and political spectrum, without losing anything.

Though she has great skill in manipulation and political intrigue, Ava has a strong mental compass; she's very principled and she values her emotions and her free will more than anything, the fact that most of the population don't share it with her makes her blood boil. Despite her anger, however, Ava looks to the long term. She doesn't jump into action, and approaches a rebellion (something she would never call it) with small steps and carefully planned events.
BACKGROUND: Ava grew up in a world of luxury and intense political rivalries, and always had the skill of charming people. Her father was a very important factory executive and her mother was an account manager for the factories. Everyone in the Diamond Sector who had any ambition aimed for a managerial position of the factories, because it was those people (factory executives and account managers) who got the closest to Pacecco, so even among the Diamond Sector folks, Ava and her family were exclusive. When Ava was pretty young (10 or 11) her and a group of friends snuck out of the Diamond Sector. Yes, it was technically illegal, but it was also a tradition of Diamond Sector kids. In this the authorities exercised some salutary neglect, after all, it wasn’t like they wouldn’t come back and the kids who went only ever did it once. Most kids who sneak out come back feeling superior and almost more indoctrinated to their parasitic lifestyle, but Ava didn’t. She was horrified by the emotionless drones, and she knew she wanted PaxCor to stop exploiting human lives in such a sickening way.

Ava decided that day she’d use the power she’d been given at birth to resist PaxCor. At first she didn't know where to start, but she knew what the endgame was. She knew she’d be given practically any job she wanted, what with her parents being able to throw their weight around to get favors, so she chose a job she thought would eventually be really helpful if she was to stage a real rebellion: Minister of Propaganda. As soon as she was fully involved in the social circle, she began making connections. She rooted out anyone in the Diamond Sector who had even the slightest rebellious streak and either made friends or, if that didn’t work, blackmailed them into loyalty. For the past few years she's been planting little micro-sabotages in the films she makes (subliminal messages, hints of emotion, clues to what might be going on but nothing obvious, just large enough to slowly implant ideas into the vewiers heads) and in the opinions of the government workers, none of them too large but if anyone were to connect them all to her they’d be surprised at the size of her little resistance

More recently, however, Ava had been hearing rumors, little bits of info on a pill that neutralized the Patch. She was intrigued. Until then, Ava always thought she was the sole and secret leader in a growing resistance. She’s been collecting all the solid information she could on the group distributing the pills, and is now ready to extend her hand in greeting.

Before the Pill, Keanu had more of a lack of personality. Quiet, reserved, and silent...Keanu's exterior was always the opposite of his interior. While he doesn't show much of anything on the outside, within him he always felt some sort of underlying impulse. He always felt as though he was one step away from something akin to a breakdown (or as close as you can while patched).

Personality After Pill (character's real personality, at least one paragraph):

Keanu will be someone gentle and kind, someone with a soft voice but a strong spirit. He has a generally sweet temperament, but with a strong will. If Keanu decides he doesn't like someone, then he really doesn't like them and that is unlikely to change. He trusts his instincts and the vibes he gets from others, and will form opinions of others quickly...though he is unlikely to voice those to very many people. He notices the beauty in the world around him keenly.

Backstory (at least two paragraphs):

Keanu grew up in your average family unit. He lived with his family until he turned age 18, and then he moved into a single's apartment. At his job assignment, he became a doctor. What made Keanu realize that he may not be like everyone else was the way he desired to learn holistic approaches to medicine. In medical school, he learned science and method...the analytical way to do things. He always wanted to learn the ways outside of that, outside of high technology. That gentle urging was always on the back of his mind, reminding him that he did not fit in. His sisters were very scientifically minded, and have always scolded him and written him off for wanting to learn a more natural way.

As a child, he would always try to find new plants around Tranquility. Obviously, the only plants that existed around his sector were decorative. In his free time, Keanu would spend time at the file vendor, buying documents to learn more and more about the healing properties of plants. He would sketch them, try to memorize them. His otherness made him feel one step away from a breakdown, or as close as you could be to one in Tranquility. The symbol he's been seeing painted on the walls has drawn him from the beginning.

PERSONALITY

Eve is a character of quiet brilliance, though her intelligence often goes unmerited due to her preference of working behind the scenes. Most are surprised to learn about her deceitful nature; she has a way of manipulating people in subtle, understated ways. She is quietly tenacious and works hard to accomplish her goals, even if they're achieved through underhanded means. She's quick-witted and sharp, always able to work her way out of a difficult situation. She's completely aware of her abilities, so sometimes the art of humility is lost on her. With her exceedingly compliant, dutiful, and detached nature, it's often said of her that she'll lose her temper once hell freezes over. She tends to be very impersonal, so there are few people who know anything about her private life, as she refuses to disclose that information to anyone. With that said, she is a generally courteous individual, carrying herself with an air of charm and poise.

Behind the icy front, however, is a surprisingly different person that few people get to see. Once she finally lets down her walls, she's indeed a fairly friendly, agreeable person with a sharp wit and clever sense of humor. However, she's still aloof and has difficulty relating to others emotionally. She also tends to be rather pessimistic.

B A C K S T O R Y: BACKSTORY

The daughter of a high-ranking scientist and a government worker, Eve was born in the Diamond Sector. Eve was always the even-tempered, obedient child that excelled as a student. Nolan, her brother, was her polar opposite: hot-headed, brash, and highly driven by his emotions. While Eve's parents weren't patched themselves, they bought into the preachings about the evils of emotion. As such, they tended to be austere, stoic people, traits which Eve picked up. Since her parents were determined for her to land a job in the Diamond Sector, she was forced to devote her life to her studies; as such, she was never able to fully enjoy her youth.

When Nolan began sympathizing with the citizens outside of the Diamond Sector, he argued frequently with his parents over his beliefs on PaxCor, eventually cutting ties with his family. Eve doesn't keep in contact with him and she has no clue where he is now.

When Eve finished school, she was placed as a high government worker for PaxCor, where she worked her way up the ranks to her current position.

Skills: Lex is highly intelligent, though he does his best to hide it, and loves logic, puzzles, riddles, and puns. He has a way with words, which, together with his charisma, tends to make most people just like him for reasons they can't quite describe. Finally, years of carefully pippette manipulation and lab work have led to extraordinary fine motor skills. With proper training, he might make an excellent surgeon... if anyone can get him to shut up long enough to perform surgery.
Appearance
Personality: Personality Before Pill: Salix, like most Tranquilians with the patch, is bland. He goes to work, he does his job, he comes home feeling drained but not satisfied. For a long time he's been feeling this nagging feeling in the back of his mind, like maybe there's something more, something no one talks about. Like an itch that he can't quite reach to scratch, but it's steadily growing worse instead of fading.

Personality After Pill: Underneath it all, being held back by a tiny device, is a roaring happy-go-lucky fool. With a hearty sense of humor and a ready smile, he lives life to the utmost, taking things as they come with a (sometimes stupidly) optimistic tint. He's tenacious and up-front, occasionally raucous, and always flirtatious. Self-confidence is one of his strongest traits, to the point of bordering arrogance. Somehow, he manages to sway this in his favor, as a touch of arrogance only adds to his charisma and charm. He enjoys playing with words and having word play with people; finding the best, most alluring, phrases for any particular situation is one of his favorite past-times.
Background: Backstory: Lex's background is fairly flat. His mother, a teacher, and his father, a doctor, were paired in a marriage pact three years before his birth. When they applied for family unit status, Lex was their first born son. As a child he was as cheerful as one on the Patch could be, sometimes loud, and always friendly. He grew up well-liked among his peers and--more surprisingly--his siblings. He always seemed to have a gift for finding the right things to say to people, which drew others to him. When he was 16, he was given a position as a scientist, though he'd always thought he should have been a teacher. It seemed an odd match with his skillset, but the system was never wrong, so a scientist he became.

He excelled at it. But in spite being good at his job, surrounded by people who seemed to genuinely like him, a growing discontent was building inside him. His friends and family noticed that he became quieter and less cheerful as the years dragged on. Eventually his parents pushed him to apply for a marriage, hoping that a family of his own would bring back the little boy they had loved as well as they could. At the age of twenty-two he married his wife, Sofia, but nothing changed. At least, not for the better. The word 'Deviant' was murmured in hushed voices behind his back; his friends and family drifted away, not disliking him, but not wanting to be associated with a Deviant if anyone came looking.

More recently, Salix has started noticing the graffiti. Everyone else seems to walk past, their eyes sliding from one blank wall to another, not really seeming to see it at all. But his eyes stick, drawn by the color in a sea bland, white walls. Find the Pill.

Appearance: Standing at five foot nine inches Savi has sculpted her body for the long trips she ventures on. Savi has shoulder length brown hair, hazel green eyes, and dimples.

Skills: Able to recognize and use the majority of plant life, whether it be for medicinal purposes or for edible consumption. In stressful situations she’s usually the one to keep her head and remain calm. Foraging is one of her strongest skills, as well as knowing how to fish. Proficient and deadly in throwing knives and semi-automatic handguns. Besides being formally trained by the Spark, at the age of sixteen her father started training her and her brother in his area of expertise: stealth.

Not-So-Skilled: (Aka Flaws and Weaknesses) Savi is a bit shy and introverted, and albeit it’s not a direct weakness, it holds her back from possible friendships or relationships. She has three physical weaknesses: her immune system is weaker than normal due to an illness when she was young, Savi has seemingly random nosebleeds, and migraines that can put her on her ass for hours. Personality wise, Savi is flawed in the sense that she is overly guarded; she strives to protect her heart and soul from anymore pain. She’s a bit co-dependent on her brother Lugh. Yes she can take care of herself, but emotionally and spiritually she feels like she needs his guidance.

Miscellaneous: Savi was born first, forty-eight minutes before Lugh. She doesn’t miss a moment to remind him either. Savi has had three looting partners including her brother. One was attacked outside the territory and though they made it back to the Spark, his injuries were fatal. The second quit on her third mission, and then she finally got Lugh. She’s deadly with two kinds of weapons: handguns and pretty much anything bladed. Savi is pronounced “Sa-vee”. She carries medicinal herbs and headache tablets with her wherever she goes in a small metal canister she found while looting.

Hardworking, discreet, and honest, Savina feels like one part of a whole. As cliche as it sounds, her brother is her lifeline in this world. He always has and always will. Though introverted, Savi enjoys making people feel comfortable and incontrol. This is where she strives; training one-on-one with younger trainees gives her a sense of fulfillment that she thought looting would only give her. If she’s comfortable around you, there’s a bit of goofiness that shines through.

Her smile, though not often seen, is quite infectious and albeit she doesn’t have the charm Lugh does, Savi has a way of getting what she wants. Ambition, instinct, and honesty have served her well, and at a very young age Savi was instilled with a strong moral compass by her father Eilam. When her guard is down and she allows herself to relax, a funny but shy, passionate but uncertain, intelligent but heavy-hearted woman is released to the world. Unlike Lugh, Savi contemplates on her negative thoughts, and fixates on them with an almost compulsion. Lugh finds and locates problems, Savi’s job has always been to deal with them.

When it comes to her job, looting, she has a no-nonsense, completely businesslike attitude. What she does provides sustenance for the Spark, and she takes this seriously. Much like everything else. Stubborn and slightly impulsive, especially when it comes to instinctive decisions, Savina isn’t one to change her mind once it’s set. Unless you can provide solid reason to. In her darkest hours, Savi craves alone time where she can recharge and ponder her wandering mind.
Born to a prominent family within the Spark, Savi has always felt the need to have a calm and clear composure. From a young age she loved the outdoors albeit being somewhat shy. With a twin brother to always speak for you, Savi didn’t start talking until she was almost three. No one knows if that’s truly the case, but after her first words her vocabulary grew and she never had a problem since. She remembers girl-trips into the woods with her Grandma Mavis where she taught her how to fish and what the plants were capable of.

Once the twins were sixteen her father began informally training them. By the time they were eighteen and official training began they needed only focus on their weakest points and whatever new techniques they were taught. Savina held some resentment against her father for the training, just for the fact of how hard and consistent he pushed them. Barely home and always scribbling in his journals, whether work related or not, Eilam Melrose rarely saw his wife or children. Despite her frustrations, she excelled in his teachings.

She knew shortly before graduation that her goal was to be a looter. Savi felt at home in the woods, and had strayed as far as she could during her rebellious teenage years. She knew she could put her knowledge and training to good use and help her community. When graduation passed, she shadowed her looting mentor Santori for months before he took her out on her first mission.

Savi was there the day her father and the Feivel’s left, though rather reluctantly; and she regrets this every single day. It took awhile for the Feivel-Rose expedition to be considered a failure, but when it finally did, Savina fled to the woods in search of tracks and clues. She didn’t find any clues, and it did nothing to stop the pain that’s still in her heart. Her first looting partner died shortly thereafter, though before the Feivel-Rose Expedition is considered a failure and they’re all labeled missing. Through all the heartbreak she’s tried her hardest to remain positive and if it wasn’t for the people still in her life Savi’s unsure if she’d still be able to smile.

As time went on and her missions became more and more successful, she was asked to train younger trainees and she accepted under one condition: She gets to choose. Sola was her second trainee, and albeit they knew each other from many social gatherings over the years (their parents were close friends from childhood) the age difference had always caused a roadblock in their friendship. This soon changed and after the training they started working on an encyclopedia. Savi noticed the exquisite drawings Sola could create, and she soon asked if she’d be willing to help her come up with a herb encyclopedia that documented everything from medicinal properties, poisonous plant life, plants that are edible, and many other things. Every now and again Savi will bring Sola clippings of plants for her to document.

Dom has a warm and welcoming personality, with a twinkle in his eye that makes many think of his father in his younger days. By default he's a charmer, though his charm will usually wash away in matters of defense of the city within and without. This often impedes on his love life though his is not immune to being a flirt from time to time. Of course, Dom is not perfect. His time with the military has affected his thinking to make him relatively pragmatic at times and his decisions will often clash the will of his peers. This is usually prevalent only on the job and is the only time he may display signs of apathy.

Backstory:

Domenic Lee Kader, otherwise known as Dom, was born to a pair of celebrities and raised within the Diamond district. He had a relatively normal childhood, at least as much as one could have when everyone knew your parents. He was initially brought up to the the socialite protege of his father, and was often taken along to premieres and dinners. Unfortunately for his parents, Dominic did not aspire to take after either of his parents and instead insisted on going down the military route. This initially upset them until the revelation came that Domenic would soon help his parents welcome a little baby girl into the family at the age of 12. From then, he was free to do as he pleased as he entered his teenage years.

Before Dom knew it, his adolescence had gone by and he was being processed into Tranquility's military. It was here that he learned not only to fight, but also to think. He was eventually transferred to officer training school at the behest of both his superiors and his parents. The former recognized his latent talents and the latter simply wanted him to be the best that he could at what he was doing. He'd spend the next ten years faithfully serving and moving up in the ranks until he was offered the position of Minister of Defence after the untimely death of his predecessor. At age 30 he was the youngest to hold the office and has done so for the last four years. He struggled at first to acclimate to Tranquility's political scene but has performed his duties beyond the expectations of those around him.

Backstory (at least two paragraphs): For as long as he can remember, Jonas has been working for Paxcor rather passively. Most of his days evolve around filling various paper works in the Paxcor offices. However, Jonas has a second, secret function; that of Paxcors secret enforcer. His job in this role is to detect, locate and deal with those who appose the patch because even "perfection" can not wholly be agreed upon by everyone. Of course, such cases are rare and as such Jonas spends most of his days filling forms and what not. That was until, of course, a special pill started finding its way into the city, a pill that's seems to be able "switch off" the patches. Whilst in this role, where's a classic get up replete with a faceless mask to hide his identity.



Jonas now finds himself pushed by his employees to find and stop those behind it and also pulled by his own intrigue and perhaps his own want to find himself. He's seen the grafity and something spoke to him, deep down in his own darkness...

Aisha is, in summary, brutally honest. It is her belief that she should speak her true opinion whenever asked and to stay true to what she believes in. She can come off as cold, blunt and unapproachable to those who don't know her personally, but once one gets used to her personality she proves to be loyal, helpful and strong, both mentally and physically. She can be sassy at times and never fails to call people out when they do something that upsets her or someone around her. She can also be sassy at times, and is quick-witted with a dry and morbid sense of humor. Aisha can be a bit hard to get used to at first, but she will stand by those who have braved her initial coldness to become her friend.

Backstory:

Aisha was born the eldest daughter of two rather average factory workers, both in their late 20's at her birth. Even as young as her first day in the Glass District, a young Aisha knew that there was something...odd about herself. She was more alert, more outspoken than the children around her. She seemed to get in the most trouble in her class, and after a while, others noticed as well. Her parents were told that it was only a phase, that her Patch would correct any abnormal behaviors.

It did not.

She merely learned when to keep her mouth shut, when to act submissive, when to be passive. Eventually, her superiors were appeased and she continued her student life trying her hardest to not to be noticed by those around her. She never truly mastered the art of small talk, though; most just waved it off as her being an awkward child, when it was really just Aisha trying her hardest to seem pleasant and content with her life.

She was not.

In all truthfulness, Aisha desperately wished that somehow, someway she could blend in seamlessly and be satisfied with her life as another cog in the machine, but as hard as she tried, she knew that there was something more than the life of a Tranquility citizen. When she met a Spark Scout whose name she never was able to catch, she learned that her lifelong suspicions were true. She was not the one that was defective, it was her Patch that was. There was life outside of the stone wall she knew so well, and she was determined to find it.

Under the cover of night, Aisha escaped the confines of Tranquility at the humble age of 16 and left the life she'd known without a single regret or doubt. She worked hard to earn her ranking in The Spark, and is proud of breaking from her metaphorical shackles.

Skills: Thanks to her education and current job, Jasmine has a knack for molecular biology. More specifically, knowing how people work. Her experience in school has showed her the best way to get to people whilst using logic and reason. She did the required courses for athletics in school and found herself to be a skilled runner and climber, being quite nimble. She's thought nothing else of it. She's an extremely smart girl from her hard work in school. She's not proficient in much else.

Relationships: Her mother - Hyacinth Bloom, aged 43.

Her mother leads a pediatric section of a hospital in the Blood District to bring the best care she can provide to ailing children. Since a young age, she was pressured and prepped for the Marriage Pact as per her mother's wishes. Her mother saw her as a maiden to marry off, not as a daughter to educate and cherish. She pressured her to marry some Government worker so that she could have a better life than her parents in the Diamond Sector. Her and her mother have never been close, due to the nature of the Patch, but they still meet for lunch every Wednesday in the Cloud District. They go to one of the various restaurants and take the food and eat it in the park. They speak for a while afterwards about their various experiences throughout the day and then they leave.

Her father: Jasmine has no memory of her father, and whenever she asks her mother about him, she provides the same answer: "Your father was a kind, hard working man who was too curious for his own good."

Her husband: Asher Herveaux, aged 27. The partnership was quite recent, so she doesn't know him too well. She thinks he's pleasant enough and doesn't really have any other thoughts of him.

Personality before Pill: Jasmine can be described as one word. Professional. Her mother had raised her since birth to make sure that she was a formal, feminine young woman with manners. This was because her mother prepared her for the Marriage Pact from a young age. Her mother saw her as a child to marry off to another family. This has affected Jasmine heavily, with her thinking that she's no more than a bachelorette waiting to get married. It's seen as her only purpose in life. She saw herself as a piece of meat. Nothing more. Jasmine always tries to remain polite, but can seem a bit unforgiving at times. From a young age, she's always been curious and eager to learn. It was no surprise when she was selected to become a scientist. Jasmine wasn't particularly excited about it, but she wasn't disappointed.

Appearance: Jasmine stands quite tall at 5'9". Due to her upbringing, Jasmine always wears a bit of makeup. When asked why, she explains that her mother had encouraged femininity from a young age, because it would make it easier for her to apply to get a Marriage Pact. Her outfits are quite plain, matching all the other scientists.

Immediately she'll begin to realize that she is so much more than just a piece of meat to be married off to some man. She's an individual who's equally as important as everyone else. She'll be a bit of a flirt, although not seriously, and discover that she has a penchant for art. Her head will be in the clouds. She'll care immensely about the most important people in her life but can that can sometimes lead to them distracting her from focusing on other things as well, such as work and certain other people. She'll be outspoken and voice her opinions, even when others disagree. She'd debate for hours if she could. Her sharp tongue will get her into trouble sometimes, as she'll say things without thinking and have a lack of a filter.

Biography: Jasmine was born to a single mother, who treated her coldly most of her life due to the nature of the patch. Her father had never been present, although it never bothered her because she couldn't experience any real emotions. She mostly just ignored it and thought of it as nothing. Jasmine's mother groomed her for marriage, although it was found that Jasmine excelled in school, beating out many of her peers. It was no surprise, given her enjoyment of learning new things. She began to think of it as bettering herself for marriage. It was no real surprise when it was declared she'd become a scientist, working to find new formulas to improve the Patch. She was recently paired in the Marriage Pact and was partnered with a young doctor, much to her mother's disappointment, who had been hoping she'd be partnered with a government worker.

Vi is an incredibly calm, composed person. She takes happiness in the small things of life, and enjoys all the little details that comprise the whole. Nothing leaves Vi’s mouth until she’s thought it through, only adding to her analytical process of thinking. Never one to act before she thinks, her need to plan out everything contributes to how meticulous she is. This need for understanding even minute details make her a perfectionist. Work comes first for her, and she has a hard time getting out of that mindset and really enjoying herself. Not one for surprises or impulsivity, her tendency towards total precision and orderliness can sometimes cause her to be overly-scrupulous. She’s well spoken and generally kind, which is necessary when she’s interacting with patients.
Violette grew up within Tranquility, the eldest child to her parents. She did well in school, scoring marks that eventually categorized her to be a prime candidate for medicine. She started work within the Blood Sector as soon as she graduated school, excelling in her work due to her controlled and precise persona. There was always something missing for her, though. Operating and diagnosing always left a sense of wonder in her, something she couldn’t quite explain. Eventually, she began to notice the graffiti even more.

She took The Pill when she was only 23, and her life has never been the same since. Leaving everything she knew behind, Vi abandoned Tranquility and has never looked back. She’s been living in The Ruins for the past 5 years. After two years of working as a doctor, she was appointed Head of Medicine. It’s a job she takes very seriously, and loves dearly.

Personality Before Pill: N/A (Ruins-born)

Personality: Absent-minded is the single best word to describe Shivali. That is, absent-minded in ever aspect of her life, save dancing. When Shiva dances, she becomes a different person; focused and dedicated, lost in the music and the motion. Whenever she is not dancing, Shivali is a much less collected person. She is friendly, but not especially intelligent; she loves to have friendly conversations, but easily loses the topic and becomes distracted. She is not particularly observant, and has been known to completely overlook men who are interested in her. For this reason, she has many friends but very few romantic partners.

At her best, Shivali is endearingly ditzy. At her worst, idiotically oblivious. She had perfected the wide-eyed "I have no idea what you just said" look, and employs it at least once a day. That look, along with a sunny smile and an adorable laugh cause most people to forgive her for thinking about dance instead of whatever they were saying to her.
Backstory (at least two paragraphs): Shivali was born in the Ruins, the only child of Aarav and Pranay Lila. Her parents were both born in Tranquility, and she grew up hearing the story of how they met: they met in the blind spot in Peace Park while searching for the Pill, they fled Tranquility together when they found the Spark and learned the fresh new ways of life with emotion together. Naturally they fell in love. It was such a beautiful, romantic story, Shivali almost wished she could have been born in Tranquility so she could experience the same, perfect romance.

But Shiva was born in the Ruins, and instead she grew up dancing. Music was always a draw to her. From the moment she could stand she would dance; her parents jokes that all they had to do to quiet her when she cried was play a few lines of music.

With no brothers or sisters, Shivali was frequently alone as a young child - that is, until she met Sapphira. They were both still young, but when they met, sparks flew and from that moment on, neither was ever seen without the other. Whether they were playing in the streets, running through the market, or drooling over the entertainers performing in true Spark spirit, they were always together. Many a night found them sneaking out of bed to watch the entertainers at parties that their parents had forbidden them from going to.

The two grew up performing for their parents, who smiled and clapped whenever appropriate, but as they aged, Shiva and Saph's childish talents blossomed. When Shivali was fourteen, her parents scheduled time for the two of them to perform at the Market Expo in secret. Needless to say, the girls were both shocked and thrilled, and a great deal of screaming ensued. Their first performance in front of a crowd was a magnificent success; so many people insisted that they perform again that their first performance became the first of many.

Shivali and Sapphira continued to practice their art, performing whenever they were able, and quickly became the starlettes of the Ruins. As they grew and thrived together, they became more - developing a substantial following of fans and creating a household name for themselves.
Misc: Shivali considers herself to be a spiritualist. She believes in a certain energy to everything in the world - living an inanimate alike. Everyone has a different way to unlock their own energy, and hers is dancing; she also has a slowly growing collection of tattoos, which, she says, let some of the color inside her soul bleed through her skin.

Having fun is one of the things that Saph cares most about in the world. She loves to take risks and have a good time. Though she’s very out there, the one thing that grounds her is her music. When performing, she feels the seriousness that she lacks in every other aspect of her life.
Backstory: Sapphira is a Ruins-born, through and through. She was born to a huge family, and is the middle child of six siblings...two older brothers, an older sister, a younger sister, and a younger brother. Being part of a big family meant that she often went overlooked, and was able to get away with a lot. When she was young, she got to know another girl named Shivali. Their friendship blossomed, and they share a sister-like bond.

Performing in front of an audience is where Saph feels most at home. It gives her the ambition and seriousness that isn’t present in other aspects of her life. The fame that she and Shivali share is something she greatly enjoys. It’s something she was easily able to slide into, enjoying the attention and praise. Saph isn’t particularly close to her family members, with Shivali being the strongest relationship in her life. She enjoys flirting and being flirted with, easily charming her way from one person to the next. Behind that layer of vivacity, is a truly sharp-witted and sometimes manipulative girl.

Personality Before the Pill:

Why would he want to question what the factory was making? Some of the other workers are curious, but that's why they are nothing more than line workers. He never opened a box he wasn't supposed to. That's why the directors trusted him to work on machines across the whole factory. Since he didn't make trouble, he had a good life, with some extra credits from his responsibility. With a caring family, there wasn't much more he could ask for.

Personality After the Pill:

His headache never leaves. Simple noises, conversation, and bright lights forces him to grit his teeth until his jaw is moments from fracturing. That isn't to say he can't hold a discussion, but his patience is thin. Though smoking keeps his head level, if something rubs him the wrong way, he's likely to snap. However, when he holds that all back, he is a rather relatable guy. He'll talk passionately about machines, and his sense of humor extends to the gallows. Sometimes, that comes across as cynical.

He is skeptical of everything, and isn't quick to believe anyone. However, he knows Spark is his best shot at getting his family back. Tranquility has nothing else for him anymore: only his wife and children. That protective desire transfers to those who remind him of his kids. Sometimes that it simply reflected in those who are younger than him.

Aaron has an inquisitive mind, and after spending so much time not questioning his position, wants to know as much as he can from now on. He'll wait until a pre-war book turns to ash in his hands before finally declaring it unreadable.

History:

A factory worker like his father and his father before him. "We're supplying a better future" he was always told. Supplying them with what though? Placement day, he had actually hoped to be a scientist... However, Aaron was assigned to the factories. Maybe it was just because of the traditions of his family. He was never quite sure.

Aaron's curiosity was satisfied with the museum of the old world. Life was better now. Even in his adulthood, after being assigned to the Rust District, he was fascinated with that museum. Sure, he wasn't allowed to know many of the things at the factory, but the museum is public information! Tranquility was permitted to all this information and the fantasies of strange technology would overwhelm Aaron. It's were he met his wife. She would often take her classes to visit, and eventually they bonded over the desire for knowledge lost to the world. Everything society would be allowed to know, that is.

The accident changed all that. One of the hydraulic presses malfunctioned and a chunk of steel shrapnel embedded itself into Aaron's skull. Surgery removed most of it, and scans said his patch was still functional. He was happy to hear it. Day 3 after release: Aaron's head won't stop throbbing. He no longer understands why the factory keeps everything so secret, or why he was so complacent not knowing. Excited children gallop and wail at the house. He doesn't like to go home anymore... the noise is just too much. Something is wrong. Maybe the diagnostics didn't read correctly... Hopefully the doctors can fix it, but he's still on the waiting list to get back in. Every day, Aaron gets a bit more irritable, and he smokes more to compensate. Somewhere along the way, his supervisors noticed a change... The discussion didn't last long. Aaron demanded more answers and his boss was moments from calling the guard before Aaron jammed a letter opener into the mans throat. Going back to his old life crashed in that moment. Panicking, he noticed his supervisor's open briefcase. Quickly emptying several desk drawers into the leather case he took anything he thought may be useful-- including several access cards. Could he buy his way into spark? Aaron didn't even know if they would want any of this. His only hope was finding this pill.

Now a fugitive, he has found his way out of Tranquility, though not without consequence. During his escape several guard bots barred his passage, and his attempt to sabotage a reactor resulted in more real-estate damage than anticipated. It did the trick in blocking his pursuers and creating an alternate route, however. With only some second-degree burns ailing Aaron-- the seeker and himself were able to make it to Spark.

On the outside, Linus is an engaging and sunshiny conversationalist with a passion for PaxCor. Practically Luna’s head cheerleader. But he’s darker on the inside. Linus is really an egotistical, anti-social, remorseless, literal psychopath. He gets bored extremely quickly, and seeks to remedy his boredom by putting himself into life-threatening situations; he’s often been a blink from death, and that doesn’t bother him in the slightest. Despite this destructive behavior, Linus actually cares about his life. He has high goals, which grow higher and higher each passing day, and he loves the goodies that come along with his rank.

Backstory

Diluvio’s parents were, of course, both High Government Workers, but neither of them held significant positions, they were of little consequence among the towering titles so common in the Diamond Sector. They were, in effect, the lower class of the Diamond sector (which isn’t actually saying much). So he grew up in obscurity, never expected of much, and left alone to decide his own fate.

His childhood was not the most pleasant. His father was extremely un-involved with what Linus did with his time and was far from loving towards him. As for Linus’s mother, she was a wreck. She was a bitter woman, unhappy in her job, with her husband, or with her child. Linus grew up trying to ignore the whispers behind his back that his mother was a drunkard and a user of illegal drugs, which he knew to be true. But Linus wasn’t exempt from the bad-childhood-blame, though, he fully took advantage of his parent’s very loose leash. He was always making trouble for himself and he was absolutely terrible in school. Which wasn’t because he couldn’t grasp the material, but because it bored the hell out of him.

Linus’s father died right when he got out of school, so he took his father’s position easily as the administrative assistant to the Minister of Education (what Lilai is for Ava). The Minister of Education was reluctant, what with Linus’s history in school and all, but Linus was very convincing. Unfortunately for Linus, he was fired from that job for screwing the Minister’s daughter, who was still in school and quite a bit younger than him. Luckily, the daughter (who was completely in love with Linus) had a connection that set Linus up as an administrative assistant for the Minister of Defence at the time, a huge step up, but still a very low rank. After he got that job he dropped her very quickly. While at this position, Linus saw very obviously that while the guards of Tranquility were very competent, there was no real effective way of finding insurgents or criminals before they became a large problem. This was his opportunity. Linus, still aware of his mother’s substance abuse, used his free time to find where she was getting her illegal drugs and exposed both her and her dealer (who was a pretty illusive nuisance at the time) to the authorities. This got the attention of the Minister who gave Linus a very unofficial title and the task of seeking out anyone who was a danger.

During this time, Linus met his wife. She was a very high-ranking official, someone close to the President. He easily won her heart and they got married. Her name was Sidney Rowland. During that time, he was pursuing a case that seemed very very impressive, and making absolutely sure that she heard all the details. In reality, he had masterminded the whole thing because he couldn’t find a criminal case big enough that might reach the ears of the President. Fortunately, the President did hear about his orchestrated case, was very impressed, and eventually made an official position for Linus. Executive Administrative Assistant. A fancy title meant to make what he does sound professional. A couple months later, Sidney got pregnant and Linus freaked out. He divorced her as soon as he could and cut her out of his life, leaving her devastated.

From then on, Linus worked directly for Luna. He caught a lot of criminals, and framed a lot of people too. Officially, Linus was just supposed to be looking for people blatantly breaking the law, but Luna also has him looking for any trace of rebellion. Many people feel he intrudes the privacy of people of Tranquility, but if questioned about him, would give a very patriotic response ensuring their feelings of gratitude to him. Around the time he was given this title, he met his first boyfriend, a man named Felix Adam . . . who he who he grew to hate -due to certain unsanitary habits- and framed for embezzlement. Now he lives alone, and tracks down “enemies of PaxCor,” whether or not they are guilty. But he’s getting bored, and when he gets bored he becomes self-destructive.

Personality

For the amount of friends Val has, he is a surprisingly closed-off individual. He doesn’t talk about his past (except to dear friends), and hates talking about his emotions. To re-direct conversations, though, he asks a lot of questions, and makes it clear to everyone he meets that he’s a great listener and that they would always have someone they could to turn to if they needed to talk. Val is extremely kind-hearted, and very open minded. He likes just about everyone, and has a hard time seeing a fault in anyone. He’s also notoriously flirty and promiscuous. Many people love to hang out with him because of his laid-back personality and active sense of humor.

What most people don’t know, is that Val feels so much different than how he presents himself. He is constantly tormented by grief for his family, and his grief has never received closure because of his unwillingness to open up and discuss it. He also has a terrible time sleeping because everytime he does he gets the same three nightmares, night after night. He smokes pot and he’s so flirty because getting high and having sex comforts him, distracts him. But he never stays with anyone long because then they’ll start to see he’s not as happy as he lets on and then they’ll start asking questions and then they’ll get all worried and then they’ll think it’s them and it gets tedious for someone who can’t bare to confront his feelings.

Backstory

Val grew up in The Spark with his adopted brother, Santori. Santori was a wildborn child, found by Eilam Melrose, Savi’s father, while he was out on a trip. The two-year-old was starved-looking and feverish. Eilam named him right there on the spot: Santori. He brought Santori back to The Spark and had him for about three days before Wendy and Keiran Moyes offered to take the child in and raise him. At the time, Val was a baby. He had a happy childhood with Santori, running around their parent’s kitchen and dreaming up their future. The two boys had always wanted to be looters one day, but Santori had a special interest in the ruins: he wanted to find his birth parents.

So the two grew up, receiving informal training from the looter who found Santori, right alongside their daughter and their friend, Savi, who was about 6 years younger than Val. Santori and Val did wonderfully in school and even better when their formal training started. When the two became real looters they insisted that they would be each other's partners, they would have it no other way (not that anyone wanted to split up that power duo). Val and Santori were incredibly talented. They could go longer distances in shorter times and they were better fighters. They were precise, quick, and perceptive. They were the best looters at the time, and eventually, Savi got out of school and the three made sure Santori became Savi’s mentor. During this time, Val’s father died after a broken arm turned into a terrible infection. It was extremely painful for the two boys to watch their father slip deeper and deeper into the illness, but they had each other to lean on.

Unfortunately, one of the missions went sour. They were on their way back, they had a ton of valuable goods in their position and they were ambushed. Savi and Val got out alive by just sheer luck and speed, but Santori was shot before the three even knew they were surrounded. Val was in shock, he couldn’t move and he couldn’t breathe. If not for Savi, he wouldn’t have made it out of there alive. But as they were fleeing, Val took a bullet. It went into his arm, which was crossed over his stomach as he was running, out his arm and into his left side. It stayed there until the two finally made it back to camp, two days later.

Val made a miraculous recovery, but despite the urging of Savi and many leaders of The Spark, he refused to go back to looting, instead opting to work for his mother in the old university cafeteria. After a year or two, she took ill from Tetanus. That process was even more gruesome for Val than watching his father fall to illness, but he did have a lot of friends to help him go through it. Including Savi and Sola.

Since then Val’s acted as a sort of vent for the people of The Spark. He’s friends with everyone and many people go to him for advice, which he is okay with.

Personality: Marge is a cynical individual at heart, who sometimes has to keep herself at bay for the sake of others. Often her cynicism will come out in the form of, usually bad, comedy. She won't be afraid to make fun of those she trusts and is more than capable to taking back what she dishes out. For all intents and purposes she is a team player, though it doesn't make her an easy teammate to be around if you aren't on her good side. In personal matters though, Marge is rather closed off and would be hard pressed to express herself even to her own brother.

Backstory: Margaux is the first born of her parents and the second generation of Lemaire born and raised in The Spark. Both of her parents were looters and went missing when she was three and her brother, one. They had simply gone off into the ruins and were never heard from again, at least that's what she was told. She was simply too young anything of them other than vague voices and brief memories in her head. All she knew of them she learned from the friend of her parents who ended up adopting the two young children after their parents disappeared. Ever since, Marge has been curious to learn more about them from who she can, though she couldn't get much. All she knew was that her parents were good people, and that they'd be proud of how she developed while growing up. But it was never enough for Margaux, she wanted the truth.And so, she would go on to become a looter for Spark. To her it made the most logical sense that if she were to find out what happened to her parents then she would have to simply follow in their footsteps.

It's been ten years since she was recruited into the looters. And in ten years she'd found hide nor hair of her parents. With each year passed, it only seemed to deepen her resolve to do more the next. She eventually took up weapons training, taking the roll of the designated marksman to support her colleagues. While she has failed at her original goal, she could also not deny that she enjoyed her position and continued to be a looter for the atmosphere it generated around her. She felt needed, wanted, appreciated and wouldn't want to give that feeling up for the world though she's never told anyone about this. She takes work seriously at the end of the day, and wants to make sure that Spark can persist because without it she feels she would be nothing.
