If you can't stand the heat... [Inactive]

"No, wait!" Chris stepped forward and grabbed her arm before he even realised what he was doing. Her arm, even under the fabric, was feverishly hot, just like he had thought it would. Chris fought the urge to pull his arm back in panic, instead withdrawing it slowly. "Please don't leave. I.." He cleared his throat and start over again. "You saved my life. I don't exactly call that bothering. And about the dangerous part, I'd rather have you with me when that happens. And I have so many questions. Can you please stay?"

He slumped down on the couch and gesture for Andi to take a seat, not waiting for her to so so before blurting out questions. "Who are you? How did you do that? What were those things?"

"Uhh.." Andi reached a hand to the back of her head and scratched it a little, ruffling her red hair in their already messy state. She slowly walked to the couch and sat down. "Ya know, you're just gonna throw me out. I'd rather leave with dignity myself," she said. Then she sighed, "I do suppose I must explain myself. I am actually the embodiment of fire. What most wizards call an 'elemental'. I was created to serve a wizard and then I was released from the contract."

Chris leaned back against the couch's back, taking in the information with calmness that suprised even himself. It might be that he had more in himself than he thought. Or may be everything that had happened was too much for him, and something in his head burned out. Chris willed himself to stop thinking at that point and returned to the problem at hand. So she was not human. That was the hardest to process, but he managed it and changed the topic a little. Chris was never one to judge others, but it was very hard not to, facing an Elemental. "So what were those things. Why are they here?" He said, barely louder than a whisper.

"Those were the most unimaginative things that a wizard could conjure up. Rock Golems. Kinda like Elementals, only that they are not even close. They simply bash up everything they see. Elementals, on the other hand, have life, intelligence and are capable of strategizing. Explains why they were so easy to break," she said. Then she ruffled her hair in frustration. "I have no idea what they were doing in your backyard though. I am assuming they are the work of an amateur wizard. Or they are trying to get my attention. Again, I have no clue why."

A sheet of cold sweat ran across Chris's back. It chilled him to the spine, not the sweat itself but the realisation that caused him to sweat. Chris raised his head slowly, thinking furiously, hoping that he might be wrong, needing himself to be wrong. But the truth stared him in the face the whole while. The feeling was different, but he was too stunned to consider what it meant. He said finally, the words leaving a sour taste in his mouth. "There was something following us tonight. And it wasn't those Golems. They just felt...wrong, not like the feeling when that thing looked at me. There is still something out there, Andi, something much more dangerous. And much bigger." He meet Andi's eyes hesitantly. "What do we do? Should we leave? If it attacks, staying in a closed up space like this is not a good idea."

"Back up a few paces there," Andi said, holding a finger up, "What do you mean something was following you? And no, I don't think we can just leave. Your father will end up facing whatever it is that you suspect is going to attack. And, being human, he won't last ten seconds against magic of any kind." She let out another sigh and shook her head.

"I don't think, whatever it is, has anything to do with you in particular. Unless, of course, it is just looking for prey. Even then, it wouldn't have followed you when it saw me with you. This is just not right!" Andria was nearly shouting by the end of it. She refused to believe that a wizard would've tracked her. And she hadn't particularly antagonized anyone. Recently at least...

Chris flinched at her shout. He couldn't help himself, after seeing what she could do. Hell, he half expected her to burn him to cinder, and only flinching was already a huge credit given to his courage. He tried the reasonable voice again, which came out squeakier than he'd like. "Look, I don't know this anymore than you do. In fact, I believe you know much more than me. But trust me on this one. I know there is something out there, and I'd rather not being trapped indoor so that thing can get in here and turn it into a slaughter house. I'm going, with or without you." Chris had finally had enough of it. His brain felt like it was going to explode, so he took the easy way out: he ran.

Chris stood up and grabbed his coat and boots, heading for the door. "I'm going to my father's office. You can come with me or you can go home. I have just enough of this bullshit." He stepped out into the snow again.

"Hey hey," Andria called, chasing after him. She quickly stepped out. And as soon as she did, there was something akin an implosion as the house collapsed. "Oh wow.." she mumbled, looking at the rubble of the house, "Looks like your gut feeling is correct, Chris." She turned to the human with yet another cheerful smile. "Obviously, you can't just get rid of me," she said, walking up to him. She flicked a snowflake off her shoulder before asking, "So. Where to?"

Chris stood dumb-founded, mouth agape as he watched his house collapse into rubbles. Clouds of smoke rose up from the pile of debris and the building disappeared from sight for a moment. He turned to look at Andi, still speechless, to find her not disturbed in the least. Now she officially spooked him out. But there was no time for him to wrap his head around what had just happened, as Chris heard a commotion started in the neighborhood. "Come on, we're going to my father's office. He'll know what to do. He always does." And he started running.

His father's workplace wasn't too far from his house. Chris didn't make it. As he sprinted ahead of Andi, anxious to find his father, everything went wrong in a flash. Suddenly he saw stars in his vision, and the sensation of flying through the air. Chris turned his confused gaze downward to find a steely strong arm wrapping around him, and images of rooftops zipped past him.
