then are the death lords the antedeluvians... if so... im curious... which ones saulot.

or am I overanalyzing things.

since all the deathlords seem evil to me...

Well if you WANT that connection *spit* you can probably just make one of the un-detailed ones Saulot.

*shudder* I loathe that connection and refuse it utterly. Ask Jakk.

Bodhisvatta Anointed by Dark Water most likely.  They're both very spiritual beings, although Bodhisvatta is evily so.  Perhaps he started out as evil but after the Age of Sorrow he mellowed out.

So Bishop of the Chalcedony Thurible would be Cappadocius?

Lover Clad in the Raiment of Tears - Toreador / Setite

Walker in Darkness - Lasombra / Brujah

First and Forsaken Lion - Brujah / Ventrue?

Dowager - Gangrel / Tzimisce

Eye and Seven Despairs could be many..

Mask of Winters - Someone..

:P

But no, I usually don't see the WoD and Creation as connected in any way

Thank God for that, I see MoW as Ventrue, FaFL as perhaps Set, seeing as Set was the oldest and some say strongest.

Walker in Darkness would be Brujah, he doesn't sing of subtlety to me.

would it be better just to assume that the cainites were create by some abbyssal with a essence 8 or 9 charm?

The Deathlords fit better as the most powerful of the Onceborn malfeans then as the Antedeluvians.

I think the desire to parallel the Deathlords and the Antedeluvians comes from the fact that there are 13 of each, and both groups are unquestionably dead.

That, and various things about Abyssals make them vampirish.

I always thought that Cain was an Abyssal and he created the vampires through necromantic ritual.

I just don't know.

I haven't really viewed the Deathlords or the Abyssals as the precursors of the Vampires.

I have always envisioned that there is such a cataclysmic end to the Exalted Era that the original 13 Deathlords and all of their servants perished, along with the majority of the inhabitants of Creation.

Only the supposed 14th Deathlord made it through, Charon, to come to found the new Deathlord system under himself in effective control of the Underworld.  The Malfeans survived, but are more remote now.  Oblivion continues on its endless course toward the destruction of all.

Yu-Shan: With most of humanity dead, the flow of Quintessence and Ambrosia comes to an effective halt.  The Games of Divinity stop running* and the major gods go into a collective withdrawal that makes coming off morphine look like a decision to stop eating rotten food.  They're out of the hunt for centuries.  The city itself falls into ruin and is largely abandoned by little gods who flee to Creation.  Most spirits, even the great, are vastly diminished.  Many little gods dwindle away and cease to exist.  Many gates to Creation have been destroyed, including Calibration.  The remaining gates require large expenditures of Essence to open and access is quite difficult.

Creation is broken and becomes the Earth orbiting the US along with the Maidens.  Luna orbits the Earth.

Much later (millennia):

Gaia is asleep and cannot be awoken by any means.  The great elemental dragons are all buried far below the surface.  The Dragon Blooded cease to exist.

The Pure Chaos of the Wyld disappears.  The Deep Wyld is now in its own separate environment, encased in Elsewhere (Arcadia).

Malfeas and the Yozis are now even further (metaphorically speaking) away from Creation than before.  Their prison has redoubled its strength.

Luna attempts to start up Exaltation again entirely from scratch, but creates the Werewolves instead.

The US and the Maidens conduct various attempts to rebuild their worship so that they can restart the GoD.  They and several other gods wind up founding a plethora of religions.  Although they do derive some benefit, apparently only Quintessence is generated, and only in relatively small quantities.  Ambrosia never appears again.

They also attempt new Exaltations, but they get various types of sorcerers instead.  This is the source of modern (post-Exalted "modern") humanity's ability to wield magic.

Overall, Exaltation as designed by Autochthon doesn't appear to be possible any longer.

Cain, his problems and his progeny, all came much later.

---------------------

* This is basically my personal belief.  That Autochthon set up the GoD to run off a fraction of the ambient Ambrosia pouring into Yu-Shan, a sort of surcharge prior to distribution to the intended specific gods.  Without worshippers (the vast majority of mortals being dead), and effectively no Ambrosia flowing into Yu-Shan, the GoD cannot be played.

I came across the following on the White Wolf Exalted form. It is the best canonical-material based summary of the transition from Exalted to oWoD that I have seen.

I have my own theories as to Exalted/oWoD continuity.

The Scarlet Empress is released upon Creation and she gathers her children under her banner and they make war upon the Gods. This act is mentioned in the "Blood and Silk" book when the Wan Xian betrayed their duties at Meru. This betrayal could either be the Usurptation or their rallying under the Empress.

These acts of treason by the Empress cause the Celestial Gods to close the gates leading to Yu-Shan when the last gate closes the gap between the two worlds and the Underworld falls futher. In their dead sleep the rage of the Neverborn is released forming the Tempest to torment the dead further. The Deathlords no longer wish to see the end of the world and only wish to rule the underworld.

The Deathlords war with themselves until Lady Fate (the Sidereal in the Underworld) pronounces a prophecy that the one to unify the Deathlords shall come. In time (weather years or millennia) Charon enters the Underworld and unites the Deathlords forming the Heirarchy to fight the corruptive and negative influence of Oblivion.

The Abyssals that are in Creation at this moment are severed from their source of power no longer gaining strength from the Underworld. They go solely onto existing on blood and they change. With no one to lead them they seek each out each other to consume them and eat the spark making them stronger. This happens until only one remains. And he begins to wander in what remains of the broken and twisted creation.

As Yu-Shan pulls away from Creation, Gaia is drawn to her body as she is filled with pain has the order of things is rewritten. The Wyld begin to retreat into the gulf forming between the High and Low worlds. As the Wyld retreats Creation bends with it until both edges touch and the world becomes round. Luna takes her place to watch her lover. Her eye looking down upon Gaia for eternity.

The Maidens take their places in the heavens and others join their ranks as the universe is rewritten. The once pure essence is broken into Yin and Yang. This Wonderwork is changing everything. For their hubris the sparks of the 100 sidereal are shattered, the new nature of the Universe shall rebel against their meddling, paradox is born. The shattered remains of the sparks inhabit mortals deemed worthy grasping the power they once possessed.

Luna knowing her children are built to survive gather the 300 Lunar sparks and rewrites them. This process breaks them. Working with Gaia she makes them to fulfill specific roles that will keep Gaia save. The changing breeds are born. The remaining Dragon-Kings have nothing has their cities collapse into ruin, Gaia comes to them offering a chance for survival. They take her offer and she remakes them to be her memory of things that where.

The Scarlet Empress looks over the remanants of Creation and smiles, the Ebon Dragon wrapping around her as they survey their new prize. Her children, the Dragon-Blooded are given new great powers. They shall become the rulers of this new world. The Wan Xian are born.

The wyld retreats quicker than many of the Fair Folk can react to it. Most die has their essence is flayed apart. Those trapped in the broken world take up new duties. They become the Hisen and guard the Land of One Million Dreams. In the west the fae hide within mortal bodies surpressing their true nature, the ultimate act of survival.

Appalled at what has happened the Unconquered Sun departs taking the Solars with him. They leave behind a promise that when they are most needed the Solars and the Unconquered Sun shall return to set things right once again

This change affects the sleeping Primordial, Autochthon even further into hybernation. He takes his place in the heavens, opposite always to the new Earth. He has become the Machine Moon. His guardians the Alchemicals roam his interior keeping him alive. The humans are changed into mechanical beings as well. They all shall tend Autochthon together in perfect mechanical harmony.

Betrayed by the Ebon Dragon, the Yozi are twisted further. Malfeas breaks apart into several different Demon Realms, all still joined together. And each Yozi takes a place in one of these Hells. The Yama Kings are born. A place of corruption and torment.

I was under the impression that the Deathlords were turned to the Underworld to rule it, not turned out into the Creation to become Vampires.

Abyssals turn to Vampires, not their former Masters.  Abyssals aren't Deathlords.  They work for them.
