Out Of Words Out Of Words

The vampire always melted between his fingers, no matter what timeline they were in, where they were, how they were. An event that never ceased, unlike her past when once they were gone; They were gone. She lost herself in the time, letting herself get lost in the moment no matter how long it took. It was selfish, but there were some times where being selfish was okay. This was one of them, right? Even laying beside the beast of a man, she felt there was a moment to close her eyes and relax while also absorbing the time she was able to have with him. These are the times I wish I could go back to. Back to the club where not only supernaturals gathered, but also where others came for refuge when they needed it... when she thought about it, it seemed that her mind had been clouded, harder to grasp, even her own skills seemed to knock down compared to the warrior she once was. Soon the brunette fell into a trance that felt like she was put asleep for a time.

The loud sounds of water hitting the sides of the boat started to wake her up, her eyebrows closing together and her eyes slowly opening. Noticing it was quite dark inside the boat I really hope I didn't fall asleep till dark... she thought, but she could barely hear it. Though it seemed almost like she was blind because there was no sign of light, so she began to feel around with her hands noticing that there were no longer bed sheets and a mattress underneath her, it was actually wet stone. She started to move and run her hands around enough to finally find the flesh of Dusk's arm and then his chest. She could feel his warmth, his heart beating underneath her palm. But when she shook him, he didn't seem to get up. Roje wasn't scared to shake this man vigorously, but she was a bit worried by the fact that she couldn't see, nor understand where they were. Taking a deep breath, she tried to keep herself calm as she continued to look around, her hands still attached to the only thing that was familiar to her.

What in the fuck? she thought, catching a sight of a dark green-colored curtain that was flowing with the waves every so often. Her heart slowly picked up with panic, but she fought to remain calm despite her body reacting the opposite way. Soon she heard nothing aside from the waves, it was almost as if someone turned the tv onto mute and the only sound coming from the tv was the sound of it being turned on Wh- No fucking way. Where the hell am I? Why cant I hear? See barely??? the confusion mixed with panic really had her blood boiling. She took both her hands and shook Dusk, trying to get him to open his damn eyes "Dusk! Dusk get up! C'mon mutt!" even though she couldn't hear herself, she still attempted to wake up the Werewolf. "I swear to fuck, if you don't wake the hell up."

Tricky Magic

Bill instinctively believes if she hadn't been so careful with her wand circles, or changed the incantation at the last moment, something much, much bigger would have likely occurred. Good, or bad, that part wasn't clear. However, Bill had been careful, and did change the verbal components of the spell, and the end result was swift.

The pieces of sea glass shimmered briefly and glowed with the same color as the glass itself. Pink, blue, yellow, pale green and more. The light spiked brightly for only a second or two, leaving behind something much more unsettling. Inside each of the pieces of sea glass, Bill found herself looking into a bight blue eye. They appeared to be the same eye, just in each piece of sea glass, giving the whole set a creepy kind of vibe.

The collection of eyes blinked once, then twice. They focused on Bill, then Hatsu, even looked around the room before settling on Bill again. The moment realization hit, Bill and Hatsu could see the eye widen with obvious surprise before it drew back out of sight. Followed by another, slightly different blue eye. It peered intently at the two before it also drew back out of sight. Not a second later, the insides of the sea glass shattered, broken from the inside out.

OOC Information

Hatsu silverwhere silverwhere : For a moment, you saw nothing but eyes staring back at Bill, then you. They even seemed to glance briefly around the room before they shattered and became useless.

Bill BillieRoss BillieRoss : As soon as the sea glass shatters, you can tell the magic they contained is gone. However, at least two somethings saw and realized you could see them instead of the touristy trinket they were made to be.

Buffering

Bernard and Aódh finally felt the world stutter. They were in Jay's house, then somewhere different, then back in Jay's house, but moving toward the front door. Like a rubber band, they both snapped forward, back, then forward again. It resembled someone trying to move in an online game that was lagging heavily, but eventually they reached the 'end point'. Which was standing at the bottom of the entrance to the town hall and across from the farming fields, pretty much the center of town.

More importantly, it's late afternoon, approximately three. There are a few people tending to the fields, others going in and out of town hall. None of them seem to pay either Bernard or Aódh much mind. However, there is one person standing near the two. A clerk perhaps, based on the business casual attire, the rounded glasses, the well trimmed brown hair, and the way he's holding a clipboard in front of them.

"I hope I was able to assist you in your research. Do let me know if you turn up anything. It'd be fascinating to update the history of Marasong with what you discover." He gave a polite nod of his head, and turned to head back inside town hall.

OOC Information

Bernard Worthlessplebian Worthlessplebian : You find yourself holding several sheets of paper, printer paper. It covers the history of the Careless Shark Pub, as well as the building development for the spot dating back nearly as long as Marasong was founded. (Will be disclosed via Discord.) As for the time between now and Jay's house, it's a dizzying blur of rubber banding motion from leaving Jay, to making your way to the town hall.

Aódh Larry Larry : There's a smell of freshly tilled earth, along with a faint burnt scent. Granted, it could be from the house that burned down yesterday, but there's something about it that just stands out as different. Ashes and brine is what your mind settles on before it seems to fade away, and you're left feeling dizzy and upside down from the strange passing of time between Jay's house and the town hall.

Wolfing Around

The black wolf let out a rumbling woof at the bite to its ear, then looked rather goofy, panting with his tongue out the side of his maw, tail thumped a few more times against the ground. He seemed relaxed more than concerned with Silver's reassurance, and more than content to just lounge about. Time meant very little to their current state of being.

The woods outside the little den appeared to be thriving, each one tall and strong, leaves keeping the area well shaded from the afternoon sun. It almost felt like a separate world, a different space altogether. Instead of strange mind melodies, there was just the sound of birds singing, along with a choir of insects. Wind rustled the leaves, and the babbling of a nearby brook could be heard now and then.

With everything, came a greater sense of peace and safety. Like a blanket laid gently around Silver's shoulders, it felt like they didn't have a worry in the world which couldn't be overcome.

OOC Information

Silver Silver- Silver- : It's so peaceful, so serene, it's very nearly discomforting. There's not a sense of danger, but you get the distinct feeling this was a very well crafted place, meant to give solace and serenity to those in need. There is no sense of time here, aside from the movement of the sun and stars in the sky. However, you cannot remember exactly where this is, or how you and Rhevens came to occupy this space.

Not Looking Good

When Roje moved to try even harder to wake up Dusk, hands shifted toward the man's face. However, it probably didn't help any growing panic when fingers discovered something on Dusk's face. It had a hard outer ridge, and had five triangle sized appendages, making a star shape. A shape that covered Dusk's eyes, but not his nose or mouth.

It had small suction cups on the underside, keeping it held fast to Dusk's face. There was the possibility of prying it off, but without being able to see, there was a good risk it would cause more damage in the removal. Before Roje could make a decision on what to do next, vibrations can be felt through the rock floor. Footsteps, more than one set.

And they were growing closer.

OOC Information

Roje Britt-21 Britt-21 : You can't hear or see anything, other than the water and the curtain of green.. leaves? However, you can definitely feel vibrations through the slightly cold and wet rock floor. Also, you realize your clothes and Dusk's are damp. They're damp in places other than where you had been laying on the wet stone, making it seem like you've been in deeper water, but not for an hour or two perhaps.

No More Water!

The song didn't grow louder, and whatever had been glimpsed in the water was absent as the cat started to slink closer to the edge once more. Boy didn't seem to agree with this choice, and started to bark again. The type of bark meant to alert, and warn of danger, or just to aggravate someone's sensitive hearing.

Either way, it worked to rouse Augie, who rubbed at his face before seeing what was going on. "Kitty!" Only once more, before Augie could move, Boy was there, snagging the cat by the scruff and carrying it back into the cave, again. Augie moved after Boy, and tried to take the cat. "Boy, let go. We should be taking the cat back to town."

Augie moved to try and comfort the kitten with some good head pets, while also clicking his tongue for Boy. "Come on, Boy. Wow, it's the afternoon already? Tilly's food is definitely nap worthy. Gosh, I hope your owners aren't freaking out, kit kat." He picked up his bag with the latest group of shells and rocks Boy gathered. "We'll stop by the shell shop on the way. Need to sell somethings."

With a reassuring scratch behind Boy's ear, and making sure the cat is cradled firmly in one arm, Augie led the way out of the cave, staying as far from the edge of the water as possible.

OOC Information

Riley KodakWolf KodakWolf : Augie's determined to give you lots of pets along the way back to town. Pets, pats, clicks of his tongue, and lots of 'Good boy, Boy'. It's safe to assume Augie's worried about you being jealous of the attention the cat was getting.

Indy Rhyme Rhyme : If you try to get down, Augie will put you in the bag along with several sea shells and rocks from the shore. Otherwise, he'll keep you cradled in the nook of one arm, the hand petting your head or neck every so often as they head back into town.

Mood: Unnaturally Unsettled;

Certainly, the most peculiar discourse that Bernard had with another soul. Undeniably, it did endow Bernard with ideas on how to proceed. The first order of business is—his hand grabs the doorknob to leave Jay's house. Hvad Helvede? - His thoughts echoed as the texture on the grips snapped Bernard out of... Whatever put his mind in a vice. His head turned toward Aódh with maddening sluggardy. And he knew this! As if his consciousness was a million-billion times faster than his body. Unsurmountable. The very world clashed iridescently with his senses. Melting his vision into a smudge, then cleared away. His nails dug into Jay's table, desperately clinging to reality. Yet second verse, same as the first—Bernard could not move. His mind became a blazing trail of panic and worry. By his 3342nd thought, he determined the chronological nature of these warpings. He could feel the very cells on his lips as they parted, feel the spongiform structure of his teeth! Then gone again! Instead of his sight slipping away into a kaleidoscopic storm of assailing stimulus, he was dragged kicking and screaming through a linear path in his timeline at lightning speeds. The walk to the town hall, conversing with the clerk and finally ending up with documents in his hand faced with a man even older than he. "Oh..." His mouth agape as his wits desperately pieced themselves together again. "Yes, I will." The abnormal pause was noticeable, though it did look like a man lost in his thoughts.

The crunchy paper documents were the only things anchoring the Dane's consciousness. As the clerk moved away, Bernard remained a statue. Only when he was positive that the clerk (or anyone else for that matter) wasn't within earshot. A forceful gasp escaped Bernard as he latched onto Aódh's shoulder. Lungs desperate for air. The tachycardia certainly didn't help the disturbed Dane. His eyes trailed up to see the sky. The orange of the late afternoon twinkled in his orbs. Ordinarily, Bernard would consider other options before resorting to ludicrous assertions, but this isn't an ordinary situation. His hand released the wolf's shoulder, his heart decelerated, and his mind refocused. "Jeg hader tid." He blurted out loud. His fingers dashed to his temples as the migraine began to occupy his mind.

"By whatever deity exists, McFaol, please tell me you experienced this." Anguishly quizzing the Irishman, a hope that he isn't going insane. It seems Marasong has decided to go from subtlety influencing Bernard to outright breaking the laws of physics in front of him. "If you thought an immortal man broke biology, then Einstein will pop out of his grave this instant to interview us right now." Resorting to humour so that this bleak situation does not weigh heavy on his mind.

He looked down, having stopped rubbing his forehead from the pain. The documents needed to be read and they must be read now. Agile fingers flipped through pages while a hand supported the spine of the multi-layered documents. A condensed history of the Careless Shark Pub as well as all the buildings that occupied that development spot.

"Sharkbait" Fish and Tackle (7 years) - owned by Ragonata family
"Pelts n More" Hunting supplies (13 years) - owned by Gratoana family
"Pub Works" Bar (10 years) - owned by Nogarata family

All these were largely related to food or animal products. He leaned the open page to Aódh with a finger dashing from surname to surname. "Our Reginald de St. Leon certainly likes the letters in his surname. Otherwise, he would not have resorted to anagrammatising his last name three times. Even the first business was owned by the T-family." Mentioning the main character from an eighteenth-century novel is a good way to avoid using the dreaded word, Immortal. As of now, he also refrained from mentioning the last name outright. "What do you believe, McFaol?"

"I...think this might be a good time to say 'By Jove!' or something like that..." the youth commented, sturdy enough that Bernard's sudden clasping of his shoulder didn't topple him.

Aódh was still struggling to get a bearing as to what just occurred: the moments beforehand however, he could remember vividly, despite how brief they might have been. Bernard had allayed his newly founded concerns about Kai Tangaroa, or rather what the physicist might have ended up doing to him over the further course of his investigations. The Irishman recalled being relieved at the clarification, though a concern was flagged in his mind when Bernard mentioned the possibility of more trips to Marasong sometime in the foreseeable; in a way, concern for the Dane was warranted alongside that for Mr. Tangaroa. Who in their right mind, having made it out of this place, would choose to come back, no matter how high it piqued their interest? At that very moment, time started to act peculiar. Like somebody who had a poor grasp of where a particular scene was in a recording, so time seemed to flicker between points in the future and the past. For Aódh, it felt as though his consciousness had been disanimated of its capacity to control his body, almost in the sense of being an observer in his skin. He never, not in all his time as a werewolf, felt something as odd as this sensation. Wave upon wave of stimuli seemed to crash into him as he temporally skipped, with the sensory data, in a strange manner, needing almost to be re-ordered into a more contiguous narrative. Yet, as inscrutably as this time-skipping had first occurred, with its insensitive fast-forwarding and rewinding, it then soon came to an end, depositing Aódh, alongside Bernard, outside the entrance to some building. It was also at this instance that he regained control of his body, alongside an untimely dousing of nausea from having his senses be assaulted in such rapid succession.

Taking slow breaths, the youth gradually calmed himself, now that he had found himself stable in a fleeting moment, and looked around him. There were a few individuals dotting the fields, plying away in tough labour whilst zipped in and out of the town hall. But, out of anything, it was the smell of something burning that caught his attention, that rancid smell wafting up his nostrils and hearkening his mind back to the events of the day before. Alongside the scent of tilled fields, it made for a strange sensation, though Aódh was more concerned with where this burnt smell emanated from. Was it from Hatsu's house? That seemed the most reasonable suggestion, especially if there was a change in the wind that managed to drive in their direction, mixed with brine from the sea. Yet, in a way he wouldn't be able to reasonably explain, it had a uniqueness about it that didn't seem to attach itself to that his rose up from Hatsu's burnt-down home. Much like other scents in this town, as soon as one takes notice of it, they take offence and vanish, and so too did the burnt smell, leaving the smell of brine and freshly tilled fields to fill his nostrils.

Being in such a daze, Aódh might not have noticed the clerk had he not spoke to them about updating Marasong's history. Bernard then made a joke, perhaps looking to defuse the situation for the two of them, and Aódh laughed as well. Whilst some tension would probably linger beyond this moment, the young man felt that any lessening would be worth it, in the face of the problems that they were no doubt going to face very soon. Bernard, now that the clerk had left them and went back inside the town hall, flipped over to a page that seemed to concern itself with the Careless Shark Pub and adjacent properties, listing the current owners. Aódh looked at the page for a time, not sure what he was meant to be looking at, until Bernard intervened, pointing out that the names of all the families listed were anagrams of Tangaroa, and so all the pieces fell into place.

"Well, what would anybody gain by amassing numerous business' in a small town?" he asked, just as much to himself as it was to Bernard, "So he can control the nature of the goods seeping into Marasong? Might he be doing something to the products But if he was, you or your friend might have copped onto him doing that. Unless he wants to make himself an indispensable pillar of community, or just wants to make a bit of money for himself, I can't think of too many other reasons why he'd be doing what he's doing."

Indy allowed herself to be picked up by Augie, listening as he shushed the dog and once again rescued her from its toothy grip. Mangy mutt. You better have your shots or God help me--

Then Augie's words began to process--was it a new day? Had they spent the whole night in the cave? She couldn't be sure, everything in her mind was still too slippery to grasp as panic began to brew in her gut. Roje and Silver would have absolutely met up by now; had they been looking for her? Did Beth find them again? Fuck.

Despite herself, however, she found her anxiety calmed as Augie ran his hand absently over her fur. His steps were calm and she felt herself being nearly rocked in his arms as he began to leave the cave with his bag of treasures and the dog lurking beside them. Kit kat. Really, she should have been offended by that nickname more than she was--but she couldn't find it in herself to aim any indignancy toward the placid, easy-going man carrying her.

She would let it go, she decided. Being named after a candy bar; it could be worse. Still, she shot a glare down at the dog. Tell anyone about this and I'll feed you to the pond monster.

She stared at the broken pieces of glass for a long, long time. There was something furious, indignant stirring in her, burning just brighter than the low thrum of fear.

They were being watched.

They were being watched by someone. Something. Something powerful, Bill was willing to bet.

Bill was under no illusions about whether or not they were still being watched. The bits of sea glass had been sitting in a souvenir store, somewhere in the middle of a barrel. There was no way that was a good spot to watch from. If she had to guess, they were closer to torches than cameras, revealing broad spaces rather than relaying an image.

Still, it never hurt to be careful.

She stood from her bed and went to her cluttered desk, opening a drawer and pulling out an empty jar. She sat, silently, and carefully carved a warding rune into the lid. Something that’d contain magic. Not quite a holding circle, but a similar principle. She went back to the window sill and carefully swept the broken shards into the jar, taking care not to miss any. She reached under her bed and produced some old receipts, an old sweet wrapper, the lid from a coffee cup, and stuffed them in the jar as well. Hopefully, it looked enough like junk that nobody would be too interested in opening the jar again.

She gave Mary a careful scratch under the chin.

“Well then,” she said, calmer than she felt. “Well then. How about we go and do the light-hearted treasure hunt, aye?” She asked, turning to Hatsu. She held up the jar. “I’ll bury this in the woods after. And maybe then we can talk about the fact Big Brother’s watching.”

“Bug suggested the town hall, didn’t he? We could try that. That sounds cute and pastoral. More Nancy Drew than H.P Lovecraft.”

Tags; Out Of Words Out Of Words Mentions; Rhyme Rhyme Location; A wayward cave.

Time slowed here. Everything was meticulously crafted the longer Silver sat and simply studied her surroundings from inside the cave. The trees shuddered blithely in the gentle zephyrs that danced through their boughs and canopies, raising higher the songs of the fauna that had her ears straining to listen for more than just a little melody. Even the way water trickled over earth and rock nullified her senses to the point that Silver found her fur lying flatter and the sharp attention to detail dulling to something along the lines of a quiet embrace of the environment she was in.

The tension that wracked her stomach and mind, tearing into her at any given moment that she’d allow her guard to fall soon gave way to solace. She huffed in amusement at the expression Rhevens gave her, reaching to stretch her forelegs right over him so that she smothered his face in her fur in a sarcastic, ‘oops didn’t see you there’ type of way and even added a yawn to make it a little more authentic before she promptly dashed away from him. Her tail thumped quietly against the rock beneath their paws, thoughts ebbing and flowing in casually rather than causing discord. She sighed as she peered out of the cave, knowing that she’d rather be resting and letting her fur lay flat a little longer if she could, but something nagged at the back of her mind, telling her she still had something left to do before she could relax.

Indy. A grumble raised from her chest. How much time has passed between her and Rhevens shifting to get here in the first place? She thought she could remember her paws carrying her somewhere but as for whether or not it was here, she couldn’t tell. There was bright sunlight coming from the outside and yet none of it felt as if it were warming them, not even the wind seemed to channel into the mouth of it and better yet— Rhevens hadn’t made an attempt to get closer to the entrance. His movements were laid-back, playful even, his nervousness gone. Was he different as a wolf? She couldn’t remember. The amount of blanks she was drawing outweighed that of the thoughts she had answers to.

Rhevens had said that he wanted to take her somewhere where she could shift, but as she looked back at him, she wondered what would happen if she simply left. From what she could remember, there were no wolves in New Zealand, so perhaps she’d be mistaken for a large dog? Her paws itched to know. She needed to find Indy and let Roje know that she was okay and not cat-napped.

The white wolf took a step out of the cave.

“No. Not just you. Magic…something. Something powerful. Something I've never seen. Fuck, Hatsu. "

It was enough to comform his suspicion that he wasn't the only one missing time. She went on explaining how they had to do more investigation she felt more panicked and it spiked his own anxiousness.

He agreed with her every part of this town was fucked up. So why didn't he just go ahead and leave? What was stopping him?

“Stand back. Who knows what this’ll do.”

Bill didn't need to tell him twice, he took plenty of steps back to give the witch room to work. Hatsu still didn't fully understood magic and he doubt be ever would fully comprehend it as another world opened its door. Through the sea glass eyes analyzed them. It looked between them seemingly not aware they could stare back until it registered that the two were looking back. The glass shattered and the eyes were gone.

This didn't answer any questions. And he doubt it was just through sea glass it could see. Something was watching them and it made his hair stand. It made him want to leave even more.

“Well then,” Bill said far too calm for his liking “Well then. How about we go and do the light-hearted treasure hunt, aye? I’ll bury this in the woods after. And maybe then we can talk about the fact Big Brother’s watching.”

Hatsu couldn't decide how he wanted to react to her calmness. Part of him want to be angry. He wasn't sure why. There was nothing to be angry about, maybe he just wanted an excuse to yell. He took a deep breathe. Maybe he'll just pretend everything was normal just like Bill.

“Bug suggested the town hall, didn’t he? We could try that. That sounds cute and pastoral. More Nancy Drew than H.P Lovecraft.”

"He did?" he genuinely couldn't remember anymore, "I think we might have already went." He said as he waved the pamphlet around and opened it. "Maybe we should map put possible locations, we have to figure out the metric the map uses. Could be miles, meters, hell could even be yards. I could do that if you don't want to. I'm decent at math."

Fucking hell why isn't he waking up? He's the only one who'd be able to see better than I am right now. she thought, her hands starting to examine his face. It didn't take long for her to jerk her hands back when she felt the rough ridges on his face, rather than soft skin. Slowly but surely her hands returned, feeling there was five points that followed with those ridges A starfish? ...At least I hope it is...but thank God, its better than a damn face hugger but how did it get there? more thoughts and more questions as she continued to explore with her hands, finding his nose and his mouth Starfish-free. When she tried to move her hands underneath to try to pry the thing off, she found suction cups Oh fuck no that's not a starfish. Starfish don't have suction cups. Nope. Nope nope nope. the situation just kept getting worse by the minute, and even at that thought alone, there were vibrations happening underneath her. "You've got to be fucking kidding me." she said aloud, unable to hear her own voice.

It was a matter of Life and possibly Death in this dire situation. This will be the last time I crumble before you Dusk. This is too fucking dangerous. There's a reason why the universe steered me away from lovers. she grabbed Dusk's arms and tried to hoist his body up and against her. Vampire strength can do wonders, but only to a degree with a man of his size. Time to head to the curtain of wherever the fuck. she then began to move toward the curtain, holding a good grip on her lover "I left you behind once. I'm not doing it again." she murmured as she tried to keep her pace quick, wanting to avoid whoever was coming. Her hands clung to the damp clothing of the wolf, her eyes fixated on the curtain and sounds of the waves. Her missions: Get the fuck out of this dark abyss, get the girls, and get the hell out of Marasong. Safe place my ass. It's a surprise around every corner. eyebrows closed together and her jaw tightened.

Making Map Sense

Bill turned to what she had on hand that made the most sense, and started to rifle through her numerous tomes and books. But most importantly, coffee. While Bill started the required coffee, Hatsu started to check out a map of the town. Together they seemed determined to try and decipher something about Marasong, the map, maybe more.

The map wasn't anything polished, but did show the different sections of the town. The residential houses, the farming fields, town hall, and the stores and shops along the docks. At first look through, nothing seemed to stand out. It all looked... ordinary, in a town they both knew was far from ordinary. Second and third glances didn't seem to help reveal any secrets.

Perhaps it required Hatsu to relax his eyes, look without seeking something specific, whatever it was, on the fifth looky loo, eyes seemed to settle on a store along the docks. Along the far west end, the last shop, which wasn't a shop at all but a pub. The Careless Shark Pub, with a nice little shark icon and everything.

OOC Information

Hatsu silverwhere silverwhere : The shark icon looks very similar to the drawn one on your map. And it's the only shark reference you can see on the map. The map itself uses a metric system, but that's pretty common for the area. Doesn't mean it applies to the map or the map maker.

Bill BillieRoss BillieRoss : The first couple of books have nothing relevant you can find. The third book has some small time spells, but nothing on the scale you've experienced. Another tome has references to using creatures as messengers, and even guards for precious items. However, you're not sure if the beetles in the box were guarding something, or meant for a different purpose. The last book, when you've finished your first mug of coffee, has something about using various forms of glass and crystals as a means of scrying. It recommended using items smaller than a bread box, but could be as small as a brooch, or pendant.

Where Wolf

As Silver stepped out of the cave, nothing grand occurred. Rhevens could be heard lumbering to his paws and padding after the whitle wolf. Outside the cave, the surroundings were just as peaceful and serene, however, a little ways out, the trees seemed to become blurred. Brush, leaves, even the sky all took on a cloudy like appearance. It grew hazier the farther away.

Rhevens woofed a couple of short sounds, and nudged Silver's shoulder with his nose. The black wolf's tail swished behind, and he seemed to be watching Silver, waiting to see what she would do next. There wasn't a sense of urgency, or danger, time even felt slightly suspended and separate from the real world.

Yes, separate from the real world. This wasn't the real world, but somewhere safe. Tucked away from harm, a place to be free and relaxed. A place to recharge, and something in Rhevens' eyes hinted he knew something about it.

OOC Information

Silver Silver- Silver- : It almost feels like you'd imagine the inside of a snow globe, only without the shaking and falling snow. In fact, it reminds you of the woods you and Rhevens traveled when you first met, only without the threat of danger hovering all around. It's not the same, the type of trees don't match, but the memory of it lingers in your mind for a few moments once you realize the world at a certain point just sort of fades, the lines blurred.

Epiphany Time

Dusk was heavy, as most 'dead weight' usually were. However, Roje was able to half lift, half drag the unconscious man, but that wasn't the real problem. As Roje attempted to move toward the curtain in her vision, no matter how many steps she took forward, the curtain remained in the same spot. The exact same spot. No matter which way she turned her head, the curtain didn't change perspective.

It remained exactly the same.

Reaching out in an attempt to feel it would yield nothing but air, or cool stone walls, but nothing close to resembling the curtain in her vision. Backward, forward, side to side, and the damned thing wouldn't move. With another step, one foot nearly slipped on the smooth rock, and water eagerly lapped around the one ankle. There was the sensation of being watched, as if they were no longer alone.

OOC Information

Roje Britt-21 Britt-21 : You start to realize this curtain you're seeing is not your surroundings, but something only in your mind's eye. No matter how you move, which direction you turn, the curtain remains constant. As constant as the sound of the waves in your ears, blocking out anything else. Now you've stepped in cold water, and it's likely deeper if you keep going.

Cat Return

Augie kept petting the cat in his arm as he walked along the shore and back up the path leading to the trees along the Eastern edge of town. "I hope Seraphim knows which room you're in, Kit Kat." Apparently the nickname was sticking, at least for the time being.

Augie made sure to not leave Boy out of the conversation though, "We'll stop by the shell store after, Boy. See what we can get for those shells you dug up. Might be my official shell and rock sniffer outter." He gave a little bit of a chuckle, doing his best to not dwell on things in the water, or how most of the day passed him by before he knew it.

"Just hope they don't think I cat-napped you. You're super cute, but I wouldn't do that. Now, if you were a stray like Boy here.." Augie clicked his tongue a few times out of habit as he turned and headed along the foot worn path in the woods toward town. "I'd have to get you two to get along, and order tuna all regular like from Tilly."

Augie was a simple man most of the time, and just took the day as it happened. One step in front of the other.

OOC Information

Indy & Riley Rhyme Rhyme KodakWolf KodakWolf : It will take you about ten minutes or so to finally reach the docks. Augie's going at a casual pace, and there aren't any additional sightings in the water as you walked along the shore. For now, the air feels more relaxed, all the way up to the docks where Augie will enter and go to the front desk with the intention of seeing Seraphim and getting Indy home. (Can do a Discord IC encounter if need be.)

Now that time itself had been distended and then eventually resumed its normal course, the young man felt that there weren't too many other things that he could experience here that might top that. Let's not bloody think that, Aódh thought worriedly, bringing both his hands up to his face, Who knows what might bloody happen. Aside from the potential predations, something of a dilemma presented itself. Bernard, despite his avowal that no harm would come to Mr. Tangaroa whilst he continued to study the town, though if the earlier instance in Jay's house were any indication, might find himself in a situation where he needs to enervate somebody of their bioelectricity. Not only might that lead to an innocent, unsuspecting individual getting hurt, it would also, if done out in the public, draw the unfavourable attention of others, as the incident with the crate proved so eerily after they had left the Loving Spoon. So, in Aódh's mind, the best solution would be for him to accompany the Dane for the rest of the day, whilst leading the topic of conversation away from the investigation, as difficult as that may be to render into practice. Now that this new course of action had been decided upon, the only thing they needed to get their mind off the current topic was a timely distraction. Scoping through the film of the day so far, the Irishman remembered Silver, inquiring as to whether the three of them at the time knew where her cat Indy was. Not only did searching for the cat give a great excuse to shake their minds off the solemnity of the current issue, it allowed for Aódh to have another look around the town, in the absence of any future emergencies, of course.

"This might be a teensy bit off topic, ara, never mind teensy," Aódh stated bluntly, laughing lightly, a dash of nervousness creaking into his voice, "But do you remember the girl from earlier? How she said that if we happened upon her cat that we bring it back to her? Why don't we go around the town and look for it? You can have a look at them papers later, it's not as though Kai is going to be going anywhere. Actually, given that you spooked him there yesterday, he might be more likely to have something of a more typical day today."

The young man knew that might not have be the most dissuasive of prompts, but it would have to do.

"Anyway, I'm going to head back in the direction of the Loving Spoon and then meander afterwards until I catch a sight of the cat," he said, initiating his plan of action there and then, "Being a you-know-what has its benefits in these types of situations you'll find!"

In spite of the diatribe that Bernard spewed moments ago, his body still reeled from the time displacement. Such perversion of the natural order must be contested and ultimately dispersed. Bernard will not have a hare-brained magician, vapid witch, dopey wizard or whatever they call themselves mucking physics itself. The obvious lead is Mr. Tangaroa, who is an immortal being who is likely privy to information that Bernard has no hope of discovering on his own. There is another distinct possibility: Tangaroa is not likely in possession of his memory. Immortals have a tendency to forget certain facts after living for lengthy periods of time. Ordinarily, this fate befalls made-immortals, not born immortals but the Dane hasn't the foggiest about Tangaroa. The case remains: Bernard must confront the Maori-looking man. Simultaneously, the werewolf's question hung unseemly in the air. He did not know whether to humour his request or implore him to use his cognitive abilities, but he knew that he could not simply ignore it. Yet just as the Dane opened his mouth, the Irishman already retorted.

Prompting Greve to remember his interaction at the docks, McFaol aimed to fight shy of pursuing this investigation. At least, those were Bernard's conclusions. The pragmaticism of the decision did not elude Greve, perhaps he should delay. Experience tells him that the opportune time often comes unexpectedly. Then it dawned on him, why Aódh suggested such a venturesome—ignorant—move. You're ignorant of my abilities! Now it seemed clear for his decision to prowl the streets for the cat. Very well, he'll indulge this decision.

"Perhaps, you speak some truth, McFaol. I shall stash these documents at the Inn then rendezvous at the Spoon." His back swung to meet Aódh, beginning to walk away with a smirk. "Oh, I know!" He announces while pointing skywards. "You're not the only one with some sense of things, haha."

Strangely, for a boy who lived in a cave and apparently sold shells, Augie was blissfully normal. Maybe too normal but, god help her, Indy reveled in his genuinely, fantastically ordinary nature. Of course, there was the water monster to consider--the creature of the black lagoon that apparently recognized her--or, at least, this alternate version of herself.

But Augie had nothing to do with that. The mutt seemed to know more about it than him; he had been the one to attempt to drag her away from the water, Augie had only interjected when it appeared the dog might be harassing her. Rightfully so. The dog was quickly becoming another niggling point of tension in the back of her brain; not only had he seemed aware of the creature, but he had seemed fearful. And what kind of dog spent its day digging up shells? No, it wasn't normal. She glanced down at the beast as it trotted happily beside Augie, adding him to her mental list of things to be wary of until they could escape Marasong.

And they would escape, of course. As soon as they could. They would get back to their own reality, their own homes and domestic dramas, and they would leave all of this behind. The horrifying Stepford version of Beth, the eerie lake monster and its teasingly vague comments, the creepy citizens that tended to stare too hard, too often.

Augie. She would leave Augie behind too. Just the thought sent a pang of nostalgic ache through her heart as if the loss wasn't unfamiliar.

Augie was still chattering as they left the docks toward town. Indy's ears twitched as the sound of ocean waves was replaced with ambient background chatter, random tourists and citizens meandering about the still-quiet streets.

Most appeared normal with sun-kissed cheeks and hair twisted with sea salt, but as Indy clambered onto Augie's shoulder to reach a better vantage point two men wandering down the street caught her eye. They certainly did not belong. The first rivaled the vamp in their group with his pale skin, his smart attire similarly peculiar in a town where most people wore loose T-shirts and the cargo shorts to match. Beside him another man with a slightly crooked nose and a left-lean strode beside him. Both of their heads swiveled as they scanned the streets, clearly looking for something.

She froze as their heads began to turn in her direction. Shit. Could they be completely normal? Maybe. They could be your average tourists, recently arrived and only perusing the sites--yet they look in their eyes, the way they appeared to be searching. No, they were about as normal as the dog striding beside Augie.

She had taken enough chances in the past few months. Without a second thought, she lept from Augie's shoulders onto the street, taking a quick frantic glance over her shoulder toward the duo before taking off past them--nearly colliding into their legs as she dashed down the street.

Roje & Dusk
Out Of Words Out Of Words

Roje carried Dusk to the best of her ability, using as much strength she could muster in the dark, wet, and cold void. She looked down for a little while, knowing she wasn't changing her direction and by the time she looked up, the window never got closer "What the fuuuuck." was all that left her lips as the vampire shifted and adjusted her partner some more just so she had a better grip. It was torture trying to go through the dark with the only way out being the one thing keeping its distance. Hell, the sounds of the waves in her ears were almost making her feel like she should dunk her head in the water to muffle it all. Unfortunately she couldn't do that and had to deal with it. No matter how much I move, that damn thing doesn't get any closer. I feel like I'm on a treadmill no nowhere.

Taking a step, she almost slipped on the rock underneath her and luckily was able to catch herself, only to feel the water engulf her foot, indicating she went deeper into the water rather than away from it. Her eyes darted around but yet saw nothing aside from that cursed window with the stupid curtain, but she felt like something was going to reach out and grab her at any moment. Her grasp had gotten tighter on Dusk, her insides trying to scream and cause her to panic but she was doing her damn hardest not to panic. Would confronting the darkness even help the situation? Or make it worse... Well, what's the worst that can happen at this point? Other than losing Dusk through her grasp... "I don't know who or what is in here with me but I fucking swear if you're the reason why I cant see a damn fucking thing."

If there was an audible response, Roje couldn't tell. Dusk was still unconscious and growing heavier as gravity warred with Roje for supremacy over his inert form. About this time, the vampire could also start to realize there wasn't a window with a curtain. It was just a curtain, completely filling her vision no matter where she turned or looked.

For a brief moment, it almost felt like something attempted to curl around the ankle in the water.

Roje drew a deep breath and tried to look around even just a bit more, only seeing the curtain practically in her vision now. "You're fucking joking me." she said before feeling something almost wrap around her ankle; She was quick to jump back. Pulling the weight of Dusk with her in the opposite direction and almost causing herself to stumble back to the ground "Wake the fuck up Mutt, I can't keep carrying you like this."

Roje could feel a small vibration, as if Dusk had grunted, moments before there was an unexpected, sharp poke against her back. It didn't try to push her, just poke, like a test of some sort. However, if the vampire attempted to swing an arm in the direction of the poke, it'd only come into contact with a stone wall just shy of arm's reach.

Adjusting Dusk once again, she began to feel a sense of helplessness. Between being blind, and being deaf, there was really not much she could do at this rate. Feeling something poke her back, she jumped slightly forward while also dragging Dusk along with her. The vampire reached her hand out and felt nothing but air and slowly but surely moved slightly closer "You wouldnt hurt a blind person now would you?" granted she could be talking to the air, but what else could be done at this point? "These are the times when magic is much needed. Dusk if you can hear me, I cant see, I cant hear. There's something on your face and I cant exactly pull it off without probably ripping your face off."

Another poke, from the side closest to the water. Then for a minute or two, nothing, but Roje can sense someone or something still nearby, or in the same area at least.

Suddenly, Roje has to fight to keep a hold of Dusk, as there is apparently a tug of war over the still unconscious body. It feels like someone or something grabbed his ankles and pulled, hard. Hard enough someone with lesser strength would have stumbled and likely fallen over.

All that came out of the woman's mouth was a string of curse words as she felt the tug on Dusk's body. Of course, she'd be careful considering he wasn't immortal and losing a limb probably wasnt the first thing he wanted to do on his bucket list. She held onto him and if he was gonna be taken, she was 100% going with him to fight whatever it was trying to grab him. The poking didnt help, especially when she couldn't see. "I'd say show yourself but I cant fucking see."

Bill's House - Afternoon?
Tags: BillieRoss BillieRoss Out Of Words Out Of Words

The evening became more relaxing and Hatsu was able to slowly relax his nerves. He had sat himself on the floor and was uncapping and recapping a pen he found, ready to mark any clues he found on the town map. Expect, he wasn't able to focus on the map. Every time he thought he had found something his mind had wandered making him forget why it might have been important. Hatsu felt like a character from a horror movie - the audience had probably already solved the mystery and were yelling at him and Bill to pack their bags and leave this cryptic town. Hatsu agreed with them as well. He was in over his head and with house fires, weird horses, weirder people, magic, and weird time stuff he didn't understand what was going on. Maybe curiosity had prevented him from throwing in the towel. Figuring out that magic was real and with this weird time skip, he felt like maybe there was more out there to find out. Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back right? So he should be fine right?

Hatsu was too comfortable as he blinked tiredness from his eyes, but he jolted awake when a shark had finally caught his eye. He compared it with the one on the treasure map and sure enough the two were similar. So this had to be the starting spot right? He took the pen and circled it and tapped it on the floor as he looked at the metric system on the map. For the time being, he decided that it was best to follow that. He took the time to measure the distances and drew the paths onto the map with the pen. It was a visual representation of a guess of where the X could be. He knew to really get more guesses written down; he'd need a ruler and time to figure out how to convert other metrics onto the map - it wasn't something he wanted to do at the moment. Maybe later tonight or tomorrow morning. He figured the best starting place was this though. Maybe Augie had a metal detector or Bill had treasure finding spell that they could use.

"Do you own a metal detector? If not Augie might, I think he likes to collect stuff off the beach."

Another Eden?

Upon stepping foot out of the cave, Silver was wrapped in the forest’s essence and she couldn’t help but draw a quiet breath of relief. No invisible wall halting her efforts nor did there seem to be a relative end to the verdant greenery.

That was—until you looked a little closer. There was an ‘end’ to the forest, but it was similar to something out of virtual reality where the edges of the foliage seemed to blur. The longer she stared at it, only flicking her bad ear at Rhevens’s nudge, the further it started to drain in color. It was like they’d been placed in some kind of storybook. Promptly, Silver trotted over to the area that began to blur, pawing at it a bit and noticing how her image didn’t waver despite it. She started digging intensely, ears pricked and her eyes glowing with determination until her underbelly and hindquarters were caked with fresh earth. She snapped her head around to look at Rhevens for a moment.

Where are we? And how did you get us here?

This Rhevens should be able to hear her, right? Unless he was too good to be true as well.

Riley Adler/Boy

Boy found himself standing in the cave, somewhat close to where Augie still slept, and he had no idea how that moment had come to be. Had he fallen asleep? Then why was he standing? These memory lapses weren't totally new to him. Yet he'd been more or less free of them, or the worst of them at least, ever since he stopped pushing his magic further. Ever since he started just living life as dog.

So one could guess it wasn't really a pleasant surprise when he found himself standing in the cave with no clear memory of the past few hours. His heart sunk as his mind was filled with regret, regret for having said yes to the magic that gave him his eyesight back. Of course it wouldn't be for free, what was he thinking? Each time he said yes, that darkness creeped one step closer. Each time, one step closer to taking over his most precious possession, the one he'd give anything to keep. His mind.

He wasn't left with much time to wonder what exactly happened in the last couple of hours, or just how close he was to losing the feeble grip he was trying so hard to keep on his sanity. Much like a deja vu, his confused thoughts were interrupted by that same scene: the cat, creeping ever closer to the water. Again.

And again, the dog reacted out of instinct This time, he didn't even shoot the water a glance before letting out a few warning barks and going for the rescue before a still sleepy Augie risked himself in his place.

And the next thing he remembered, they were heading to town again. Were it not for the cat's presence making their daily routine a little bit different, Boy would certainly think they were caught in some twisted time loop of endless dinners in the cave with post meal naps and strolls back into town afterwards. For that, Boy was grateful for the cat's presence. It was the only proof that he wasn't just reliving the same day over and over again.

Still, the dog was mostly quiet as they made their way back to town, walking alongside Augie, sometimes even behind him instead of his usual trotting ahead, tail carried low as he shot the cat a quick glance now and then along the way, but mostly kept his head down. He still hadn't recovered from the impact of another memory lapse, and hoped to find signs either in Augie or the cat that they felt it too. That he wasn't losing his mind, that he wasn't the only one who felt it, though his hopes weren't too high. Usually he was the only one feeling it, and that strong ripple of magic left little doubt.

Once in town, the dog didn't really pay attention to much as he walked. He only lifted his head up when he heard the cat landing nearby, and was barely able to look at before it sprinted away. He let out a half bark only, but didn't give chase. He'd somewhat lost a lot of his energy after the most recents happenings.

Leif Hjalkarssen

The familiar face brought Leif relief when he recognized the man from the picture Levi showed him previously. At least one thing he recognized, because the woods around him he sure didn't. Not that he wasn't used to time warps at this point, but one can never get too used to them.

And it was different this time too. Not like a black out or a different timeline sort of thing, this time felt more like a fast forwarding of time, which didn't mean Leif felt any less frustrated. Yet he was quick to recompose himself when the the man approached him. As shaken up as his mind was, his goal was still clear.

"Yes." He answered as he quickly put down the box then fished in his pocket for the piece of paper Levi had given him before handing it over to the man. "I was looking for you."

Metal Heads

Some time was spent during Hatsu and Bill's research, but the coffee was good, and in the end, some results were found. Enough to give them a couple of leads to chase down. Bill was still deep in her tomes and books, determined to find something relatable.

By the time Hatsu shifted his attention from the map studies, it was near four pm. At least this time there wasn't a strange blip of time lost. However, bodies felt the loss of time combined with the previous warping. Bodies who hadn't eaten in a few hours. Stomachs gave a small grumble, and heads throbbed slightly.

Getting Bill's attention might prove to be a little difficult, she looks like whatever she was reading was highly interesting.

OOC Information

Hatsu silverwhere silverwhere : Augie having a metal detector is a solid bet, If not, perhaps Bug might know of one. However, you're definitely feeling what you can only assume are residual effects of what magic you've been exposed to so far. It feels like an early bed, if you can get your insides to stop doing flip flops. Maybe then you can finish making different paths based on the various measurements, and see which seemed to make the most sense.

Bill BillieRoss BillieRoss : After a lot of skimming through your books, there's finally something that could be pretty solid. There's a section about different types of magic, and how mixing different types can provide a boost to most spells. However, sometimes the results are more volatile than the casters can handle.
