[IC Thread] Act 1, Scene 2 : Seas of Blue and Red... [Creation is your oyster]

Haku1

Ze Hamster of Lurkdom
750 RY, Ascending Air, 7 - HMS Contentious Dagger

At dawn, HMS Contentious Dagger set sail from the Imperial City harbour. The rising sun greeted by the gilded figurehead as the modern ship launched eastward with a strong wind behind her.

While some might consider the ship's figurehead scandalous, given the anatomical correctness of the female body that was only marred by the fact that it had a fish tail in place of a pair of legs, it should be noted that said ship was captained by Captain Cynis Tsunami and was technically owned by her house.

Slicing into the waves of the ocean, the voyage seemed off to a good start with the rigging creaking in the wind as the sailors worked in tandem to keep the ship moving.

Slowly, the sun advanced across the heavens along the path mandated by Gaia, matron of the Immaculate Dragons and Empress of the heavenly realm of Yu-Shan... while the Realm, the heart of Creation, slowly shrank behind Contentious Dagger.

Figurehead looks like this, only except it's been gilded golden and has flowing and painted red hair.

Do forgive the run-on sentences and how long it took for me to post this. ;_;

Feel free to post reactions at leaving home...

Yoran walked the deck of the Contentious Dagger, pacing from aft to bow. He had quickly grown tired of watching the Blessed Isle recede. He doubted he would much fancy it growing back in some months or, who knew, years. The only time he had actually felt a pang of homesickness was when he thought about the Isle of Voices. But... I need time to think about the... things I felt there.

At any rate, boredom was looming its ugly head. He had already sailed on the Inner Sea when he was a child, so he did not even have the satisfaction of discovering something.

Ahh, the sea. There is a point when crossing the inland sea where the Blessed isle just drops out of sight and far shore hasn't quite popped in to view. At that point, there is nothing around you but seemingly endless ocean and you are then truly alone. I ****ing hate being at sea. Nothing but my two legs between me and creation, just as Sextes Jylis intended. By the dragons, we're the Princes of the Earth, not of the sea. So why am I endlessly on boats? Byblis sighed heavily. Muttering under his breath, "At least the dragons have blessed this voyage with decent weather so we don't have to spend too long on the water."

"It is too long already," Mnemon drawled. "I am in a mood to summon an aerial steed, or create a whirlwind to carry myself ashore, but," he looked over his shoulder to make sure the captain or one of her crewmembers was not within hearshot, "it would be rude towards the good and buxom captain Cynis Tsunami, and her adorable prow figurehead."

Mnemon Yoras and Cynis Byblis

The good captain, despite her name, was a wood aspect; a fact that shouldn't surprising given her house, despite the fact that her hair was sea green or perhaps a dark leaf green.

And given where she was at the stern blowing upon a flute with the soft glow of her anima around her meant that she was likely using her charms to enhance the speed of the ship; a fact borne out by the strong winds in the sails.

Still, given that the Contentious Dagger was suppose to meet up with a convoy of tribute conveying ships and merchant ships as part of their escort, there might be a reason for Captain Cynis Tsunami to employ the use of charms.

Harmonious Wind Luring Song and Seven Seas Wind Luring Chantry together as some of you may note.

Bellow deck, Misora sat in her bed reading one of her books. A romantic novel with a hint of comedy. She seemed deeply involved in the story as she shifted from sitting down to laying down, her mind on the situation currently in the book. It was about two best friends who fell in love but could not confess to each other for various reasons, it was very comedic as well. But it was also starting to get angsty, sadly enough.

After awhile, Misora sighed and closed the book, bookmark in place of course. She looked up at the ceiling, thinking deeply. "Huh... I wonder... When we'll get there..." Misora was sure to be talking about the ship getting to their destination... Or maybe...

Mnemon Yoras, Cynis Byblis, Ledaal Misora

Sadly for Yoras and Misora... the voyage would take some time. Especially given that their ship would be escorting a convoy with ships which likely wouldn't be as blessed to have a dragonblooded captain to enhance their sailing speed with the use of charms.

This was beside the fact that the Contentious Dagger was a modern sail ship without essence engines to drive it relentlessly forward.

Yoran squinted his eyes, then opened them wide before whispering: "You gotta be kidding, it must be a storm serpent..."

Shaking his head, he turned towards the stern, then made his way towards Captain Cynis Tsunami: "Excuse me, Captain, but I would like to bring yonder elemental dragon to your attention, and suggest that we avoid crossing its august path. As living incarnations of Creation's most elemental forces, they may be somewhat dangerous to hang around with."

Was it possible that they were in the presence of a greater elemental dragon of Air? He sure hoped not. He remembered tales of a greater elemental dragon driven to acts of destruction after reaching a much too intimate degree of connection with the raw power of Earth, before being sealed away somewhere by Pasiap himself...

"I see it, but our course requires that we make our way into the storm and out of it," The captain stopped playing her flute for the moment as she eyed the storm.

A soft knock on the cabin door alerted Misora that there was someone just outside, likely one of the crewmen given what he said. "Ma'am? It looks like there is stormy weather ahead."

"Thank you for alerting me, but I am well aware of it." Misora opened the door and smiled at the man who knocked. "Does the captain want us to stay in our rooms? Or is there somewhere else safer?"

"I'm afraid that there isn't any safer area... but you may wish to come out on deck, the captain did say that there was something interesting if you may like to say," The crew man blushed and looked down from from the 'talents' hinted at by Misora's outfit. It could be... dangerous to take too much liberties and speculate what lay beneath the silk garments...

"Ah, I see... I guess I should go up and see, then." Misora then went back inside for only a moment to put some form of shoes on. It would be unseemly to walk around in barefeet up on deck. She grabbed a coat on her way out as well. To keep dry, of course.

Stepping out, she smiled and nodded at the sailor before heading towards the deck, and hopefully the captain as well. I wonder what the captain would like me to see? Ahh, hopefully it's not something bad.

Stepping out on to the deck... it is clear to Misora that her decision to wear a coat was wise as the wind had picked up and was rather biting.

When Misora reached her, the wood aspect captain pointed up at the heavens, and in the distance... if one looked carefully... very carefully... one could see a weaving serpent-like elemental dragon coiling about in the storm clouds heading south.

A storm that the ship was heading into. One controlled by a dragon several miles long.

"It's going to be a bit rough... I don't suppose you have any charms or spells that could help give additional protection to the ship?"

Misora is quiet for a moment, then she shakes her head. "I can only protect people within 10 feet from me. I apologise for not being much help, but my focus lies in knowledge, not travel." She bows apologetically before getting closer to the captain.

"Though, I can also protect items if you'd like."

"Ah.... that's fine then," Captain Tsunami nodded at Misora, before looking over a flotilla of ships in the distance. "Not much we can do beyond ride out the storm. And hope the ships that we're escorting stay safe."

"I see..." replied the attractive young Ledaal. She fidgeted around nervously with her coat's sleeves, it was obvious she was unnerved by the potential loss of the other ships as well. She looked back at them, frown on her face. "Do you think they can protect themselves?"

The slight shake of the wood aspect's head and the look of regret is really all the answer that Misora needs. "Not unless we have some way of telling that dragon to let us pass safely."

"That usually requires some form of offering. And a way to speak with the dragon... I am able to have my voice carry over for miles... But I have no idea about an offering." Misora brought her hand to her forehead and rubbed her right temple, seemingly stressed.

"I thought it might be something like that... of course, attracting the attentions of one of the divine dragons likely isn't a good thing," She smiled warmly at Misora, the scent of flowers filling the Ledaal's nose as the wind blew just so. "At least, not when said attention might be hard to get rid of."

Misora stared at the captain a long while, the wonderful scent of flowers reminded her of her dear friend. On that note, her mind started to wander into dangerous territory before she caught herself. Gah! Get a hold of yourself, Misora! Most Wood Aspects smell... Pleasant. This situation is too dire to let yourself... Fantasize about them. But... Gah! She smells nice! Misora's inner 'conflict' went on and on as her face grew extremely red. Again, it was quite noticable against her near transparent skin.

The captain didn't seem to be quite paying attention as Misora blushed the first time... the second time, she did catch it. Leaning closer to the air aspect, her concern is apparent as was the sweet scent of flowers that grew stronger with proximity. "Ah... lady Ledaal, are you alright?"
