TanteRegenbogen

Cuddly enby auntcle
"Mr. A...Adventurer. I... I have been thinking for a while now. I think... I like you. M... more than like you. D... do you have a girl... friend?" A shy girl asks you. You are smitten with her and are overjoyed. But when you want to answer, she continues: "If you do, I can get rid of her, so we can be together." Her smile warps and she is suddenly holding a long knife.

Just then you wake up from your dream turned nightmare. You are happy it was only a nightmare and not real. Or was it? Maybe it was foreshadowing, as there is really an admirer out there who has something about her (or him) that is undesirable. You may try to convince yourself that it can't be that bad. But it is pretty bad. Worse yet, the guild wants your party to cooperate with other adventurers among which your admirer is.

Or rather every time you meet someone who seems halfway normal, they turn out being just as bad or worse than your admirer.

Plot:

You've followed the call to the frontier nation known as Kachasia in it's local language or Silver Mountains in the common language, after finding a pamphlet on you local adventurer guild's wall. The pamphlet read "Tired of running menial errands, doing manual labor and fighting weak pests when you expected more out of adventuring? Come to Kachasia to help build a nation. We offer adventuring parties a plot of land for a party base after they complete a trial quest. Warning: Be prepared that you might get severely injured or even die if you accept quests beyond your skill grade."

You are excited and seek to go there. Your current party isn't too excited and you end up going on your own. You end up finding others to team up with and after a trial quest, you are allocated a plot of land and start building your base.

However, soon after things start taking a bad turn as you end up finding an admirer or admirers you'd rather not have. Even worse, you occasionally may have to team up with their parties. You try finding other friends, but a number of people are equally as unhinged as your admirer. It is almost like people with nothing to lose among other things have mostly come here.

Ultimately, you can't go back. Or rather if you went back, you'd be penniless. The only things that can eventually keep you at spirits are the exciting quests such as battling orcs or the rumors of a demon lord beyond the mountains and the few sane friends you managed to find.

Reverse side of the story (perspective of the admirers):

You've had a troubled life so far and you saw a pamphlet at the adventurer guild. It gives you a chance to start anew. There is a cute guy at the board who also read the pamphlet. You are too nervous to speak to him. He accidentally bumps into you, apologizes and asks if you are okay. You blush and nervously nod. In your head, you ask yourself: "Is he flirting with me? He might be flirting with me. He could be the one. Yes, he could be the one. I will dedicate my life to this handsome man I just met and gave me kind words. I will follow him to the frontier. Yes! Follow him! We can be together. Take the chance before another bitch tries to steal him away. Yes. Be together. Together forever."

However while blushing, you just say: "Hello. I'm fine." In your mind, you are beating yourself up for not taking the initiative. You will follow him. And eventually get the chance of confessing your love. He could accept you. He should accept you. He will accept you. Refusal is not an option.

Setting:

Kachasia (Silver Mountains), a frontier nation. Developmentally far behind the rest of the world, but potentially much larger than the other world nations. One of your fellow adventurers said: "What a dump. It's even worse than a rural area 500 years ago." Kachasia has so much potential though. Your base of operations is in a rather newly established settlement named Abenteuer (which is basically just "adventure" in another language. Known locations in the settlement are an adventurer guild, a bathhouse, a guard's barracks, a small central square for markets and stuff, shops and a number of taverns.

Kachasia itself is at first towards the adventurer's settlement a green steppe but the terrain gets mountainous with dense forests. Old ruins from a lost civilization dot the landscape. The locals of Kachasia are a semi-nomadic people who live mostly in the flatter areas of the nation. They warn that there are ogres, demons and dragons in the mountains.

Playable species:

Humans, elves, half-orcs, half-ogres, halflings (similar to hobbits, basically about the size of dwarves but normal proportions), wolfkin (males look more like bipedal wolves, woman look like humans with wolf ears and tails), foxkin (similarly gender differences to wolfkin), catkin (here too), dragon kin (both male and female are rather human looking but with lizard eyes, short horns and scaly tails).

Magic types:

Elemental (fire, water, air, earth/ combos: water + air = ice or electric, earth + fire = metal/lava), light/healing magic, druidism (shapeshifting, communicating with lesser animals), summoning, combat enhancing magic, illusion. Taboo magics: Death magic (robbing lifeforces, curses), necromancy (summoning the dead), abyssal magic (demonic shapeshifting, black flame, blindness by darkness).

Taboo magic users need to be careful, because depending on what they use the consequences can vary from a shop refusing service to having a bounty on one's head.

Rules:

No exceptions in regards to species.
Post regularly. If you can't post within three days or within a few days of your posting turn, please notify everyone else or you will be skipped.
Don't be overly dramatic. Despite psycho characters, it is suppose to still have comedic elements.
No setting breaking things like machine guns or motor vehicles. Potentially, magical smartphone/PDA like devices could exist. But tech will mostly be more medieval fantasy.

Ayasha Hitogui

Prologue

In a village in the reaches of the Aranstivir forest, there lived a woman who had a child with an ogre. Her child was a boy, but she decided to raise it like a girl to hope that it can resist it's ogre urges for combat that way. She hoped it would learn to be gentle. The child's name was Ayasha.

Her mother tried her best to hide that Ayasha wasn't a girl, because who knows what would happen if Ayasha was raised to be a boy. Maybe the child would grow to become a brigand, a demon lord army general, a robber baron or a lawyer, if it was raised to be a boy. So she constantly told the child that she could be a priestess or a healer when she grows up. And that somehow stuck with Ayasha.

Nonetheless, Ayasha still played a lot with the boys and the boys in the village often viewed her as a sort of tomboy. But out of all the boys in the village, there was one that Ayasha was especially close to: His name was Dravix. They were constantly hanging out together and they always had each other's backs. One time when she was a kid, Ayasha asked if they would be together forever. Dravix then promised to marry her once they were adults.

Once they were teenagers, they saw less of each other as Ayasha went to the temple to learn to become a priestess. Ayasha wasn't cut out to be a priestess, but she nonetheless gave it her best. Despite knowing the theory and such, she couldn't use healing magic. The priestesses at the seminar saw it as a bad omen and considered telling Ayasha to look for another profession, but as they saw how much effort Ayasha put in, they decided to wait until the ceremony of divine blessing.

Soon that day came. It was the ceremony of divine blessing, the official day one would start being a priestess. Well, Ayasha didn't become one. It wasn't even a pleasant day for Ayasha. She wasn't just not ordained, but she was kicked out and excommunicated for something she was oblivious of up until that point. The ceremony pretty much went as follows: The head priestess says: "Now next up! Our valedictorian Adept Ayasha Hitogui." Ayasha then steps up to the altar to which the voice of the goddess is heard: "Is they some joke? Not only you bring a half ogre to become a priestess, but this one is a disgusting male. This one doesn't get a blessing. Best it shouldn't be in the temple at all. Ogres shouldn't pray to me."

In that moment, Ayasha's heart shattered. The deity she prayed to and had learn everything about was the opposite of the forgiving benevolent mother of a goddess she was claimed to have been. Instead she was a heartless and arrogant bitch who discriminated against non-humans and non-elves.

Not only was Ayasha kicked out of the temple. They tore her robes from her body and threw her out into the mud with her only wearing her base clothes consisting of shorts and a sleeveless turtleneck top. She was at rock bottom. Dirty and crying, she made her way towards home. She hadn't known she was male. But she did know something was off about her.

By the time she got back to the village, word about what had happened had spread there. The reactions were mixed. Some mocked her. Others pitied her. But most thought it would blow over as long as Ayasha took on a more masculine profession. But from that point onwards, Dravix started acting awkward around Ayasha and often avoided eye contact. When Ayasha got home to her mother, her mother hugged her and apologized. Initially, Ayasha was angry at her mother and asked her why. Ayasha's mother explained the nature of ogres to her and that male ogres like to fight and can get very violent. Eventually, Ayasha made up with her mother, but asked about the whereabouts of her father.

Ayasha's mother explained to her that her father comes from deep within the forest near the village. The ogre village could be found near the base of the mountains. Ayasha told her mother that she will set off to meet her father and try to learn about her "other side" (male, ogre).

After packing, Ayasha set off, but not before her mother told her the father's name: "Ryo". She was on a long trek through the forest and eventually spotted the ogre village. She expected ogres to live in caves, not houses. But as she approached, she was originally met with hostility: "Turn back human woman! This is not a play for your kind to stray to!" A village guard said. Ayasha then said: "I am looking for an ogre by the name of Ryo. I was told he is my father."

Then an ogre with the same reddish-brown eye color Ayasha had stepped forward. He appeared like a somewhat handsome human male, but with fangs, horns and a short beard. He said: "I am sorry, but I was told I had a son, not a daughter." "You heard him! Now go home!" The guard said. Ayasha then replied: "About that, I was told I am actually male. My mother told me she raised me as a girl to avoid ogre urges."

"This is so typical. The humans think we are violent barbarians who just burn down the villages of the other races! Sure we like to fight, but we also know reason!" The guard complained. The ogre Ryo answered: "I guess my family name is just a gimmick, huh?" The guard then became a little quieter: "I guess you are right on that point." Ryo turned to Ayasha: "You see, child, my family name is Hitogui, which means human eater in your language. But what brings you here?"

Ayasha then explained her life up until now and that she sought out her father because of this to learn about ogre life and what it means to be male. After a moment of thought, Ryo the ogre replied: "Very well, my child. I shall show you, but it wont be easy. But who you are in the end is your decision. Now let me introduce you to my family and your half-siblings." Ayasha eagerly followed.

She met her six half-siblings. Two brothers and four sisters. She also met her father's current wife, her uncles and aunts and her cousins. In the end, she was related to about a quarter of the village.

For the next few months, Ayasha learned the traditions of the ogres and how to fight. Initially weak, her father put her on a hard training regimen. Sometimes she felt like she was going to die but she pushed through. With each month that went by, things became easier and eventually, with enough training, she began to be able to compete with the ogres. However all this time, she kept her hair long and divided her time between the male ogres and the female ogres, because in the end, she preferred to present female. But at least now she could survive in the wild and maybe make something of herself.

She eventually arrived back in her home village, but promised to stay in contact. Upon hugging her mother, her mother noticed that Ayasha had become significantly stronger and her body was much harder from the muscle. When she went looking for Dravix, it turned out Dravix had left the village to become an adventurer. To meet her love sometime again, she decided to go adventuring as well. After only two months back at her home village, she set off to become an adventurer.

After she left, she briefly passed through the ogre village before heading over the mountains to the big city of adventurers. There she would register with the adventurer's guild and begin doing quests. One day, she came across an old man with a black robe and a really long beard, struggling to carry his bags. Ayasha offered to carry the bags and the man. After reaching the old man's cottage, the old man told Ayasha he didn't have long to live and had been seeking an apprentice. Ayasha originally politely declined but as soon as the old man said: "I guess no one wants to be a priest or priestess of Varasha these days." Ayasha immediately changed her mind. At least she could become a priestess, albeit one of the death god who was opposite to the goddess of light who treated Ayasha horribly. The followers of the goddess of light claimed Varasha to be a cold and cruel god, but would that be as wrong as saying that the goddess of light is loving and benevolent.

Well, Ayasha soon found out in one of her first training sessions as she got a chance to meet Varasha. "So few clerics of mine and I get to meet one of the few willing to become a new one. I will do my best to accomodate you as long as you follow me. Now tell me child, why has an effeminate half-ogre such as yourself decided to change their mind when being told they could be a priestess of mine?" The death god asked. Ayasha explained what had happened.

"What a bitch! Can you believe that goddess? Lying about being benevolent and shit. It really makes me angry to hear who happened to you. Trust me, I do my job as don't discriminate. You could be a goblin for all I care. All species are equal in my eyes. Death affects all. It often feels unjust, but it is a part of the cycle and without it would bring chaos and suffering to the world. I am certain you will become my priestess and do a good job too." The death god said at that time.

Eventually, Ayasha completed her training and her mentor was on his death bed. "I have not much time, Ayasha. I thank you for the health you offered this old man and I am proud to have had such a willing apprentice. Go out and do your work." The old man said. Ayasha replied: "With death magic, I could potentially heal or revive people now. A bit unorthodox, but I am not only a priestess, but also a healer now!"

Distraught, the old man exclaimed: "What?!..." He began grabbing at his chest. "That is not how..." The old man saw Varasha behind Ayasha. "Time for you to go and reenter the cycle of reincarnation. Your apprentice has interesting ideas and death magic doesn't only have to be used one way. You should be proud of her." Varasha said as the life energy of the old man faded.

After a proper burial of the old man, Ayasha wrapped things up in the city and made her way to the frontier where she heard Dravix was headed to. She would finally be able to see her love again and prove herself worthy.

Main story

Ayasha finally made it to the frontier. She was excited. She made it through the initial quest solo. It wasn't difficult. She only had to raid a den of hobgoblins and bring the chain of a hobgoblin captain. In turn, she was given a plot of land to build her home and base of operations on. She ended up building a home in the ogre style (Japanese traditional). The initial structure is a one room shack with a fire pit and a sliding door. Ayasha still had a whole load of space to build on. Maybe she could find a party soon and offer them to build a party house here.

Ayasha went out for a stroll in the town. She was about to round the corner to the adventurer's guild when there was a sudden ruckus. "We need a healer! Our tank is gravely wounded and our healer is out of mana! Anybody? Help!" An adventurer shouted. Sadly, there were no other healers around, but Ayasha was available. She presented herself: "I am no follower of the light goddess, but I am a healer alright. I should be able to help." "Whatever it takes. Please." The adventurer said.

The half-ogre looked at the injured warrior. He was on the brink of death but not dead yet. Undeath wouldn't work just yet, but a high uninjure would do the trick. "HIGH UNINJURE!" Ayasha shouted. The adventure confused looked up at Ayasha: "High WHAT?" All of a sudden, a black mist full of skull phantoms surrounded the warrior's wounds but rather than going in, it looked like the black mist was coming out and flowing into Ayasha's hands. The wounds sealed as the paleness of the warriors skin disappeared.

The warrior woke up. He looked up to Ayasha and said: "Wow, I feel a lot better. I guess I have you to thank for my life. And my savior is a beautiful maiden too." "I was called beautiful. Wonderful. Maiden? Sort of I guess. Don't worry about thanking me. I just did what a priestess should do." Ayasha replied. The warrior turned to his buddy who was in shock by what he just saw. He didn't understand what she did. Was it dark magic, was it healing magic? The warrior shook his buddy: "Dude? What is wrong? Wake up. Come on. You are worrying me."

Then Ayasha left towards the adventurer's guild.
