I Finally Ran

So I finally ran Exalted, and it went pretty well.

I had a short prelude type story thought up involving the Roseblack's first contact with the Vermillion Legion, but in light of a) my friend Nick having run a story with the characters in question set ten years earlier and b) the 100 xp they would get for ten years having passed which I didn't want to give them, I opted to set the game in RY758 instead.

I kept the rest of  the story, just tweaked who was giving them orders and why they were going there, on the fly, and pretty well I might add.

My friend Greg pointed out that I often adhered slavishly to what I had written down when I ran D&D in the past, and my adventures usually suffered for it, and I think last night was a serious step in the right direction.

So now I'm running a Dragon-Blooded game set in RY758 (for now) involving the Vermillion Legion and a rebellion in the Lap region.  I guess we'll see where things go!

Learning to become adaptable to the natural flow of the story is a big step in becoming a good ST. Good luck :)

Thanks a bunch.

It was a hell of a learning experiance, and I'm glad that I didn't do much more than jot down an outline and stat the villains.  The combat didn't run really smoothly at first, but I can get around that by actually comming up with some tactics and stuch before hand, and having a better idea of the battleground (I didn't prep that at all).  But I'm pretty sure that if I had written out a bunch of details I would have wanted to stick to those and wouldn't have been as flexable, which would have been bad.

I'm going to write things much differantly from now on, since I've finally passed the point of no return, so to speak.

Another Michigan© gamer?

We're coming out of the woodwork!

Soon you'll rival the Irish in terms of sheer numbers!

Many of us are Irish!
I'm not talking about people who are of Irish descent, I'm talking about the native born Irish. They infest this place like roaches (or Michiganders).

Uh oh, should we worry about the exterminator...if we're already an infestation? :P

Speaking of the exterminator... most of the irish are steam faction and the steam faction gets mostly represented through what? Locusts. I think an exterminator is THE solution!

True, at last count I think we were at five to six Irish, with three not posting due to Samiel's rise to Presidente.

I am a proud member of the Steam Faction, and I'm not Irish.  Going far enough back, my family is English and Scottish.
