Andy gave out a soft sigh as he finished feeding Laura. Work started in two hours and for once in his time staying here Andy was not actually excited. He loved Books, a little bookshop where he works, but he just wanted today to be a slow day. No one other than him and the owner (a nice girl named Florence who enjoyed collecting swords and guns.) worked there so of course it was boring. Andy stood up and decided to check out the unnamed apartment complex because he has only lived here for a short amount of time (four days) he knew too little about it and it's inhabitants also maybe check out the roof. Heights terrified Andy but it was fairly early in the morning so the sky might look odd or even pretty. Andy threw on a white hoodie and when out the door to explore.

Hina looked out her small window and smiled at the weird colors making it look like someone painted the sky. She liked to stare out right above the sun so she can see the light beam out and make it look unique. Her eyes glanced at her alarm clock and saw that she had to go to work in about three hours or so. It ticked peacefully and made her calm a little more before sighing and heading to her door, opening it and locking it. Hina went straight for the roof to get a better view of the pretty sight that was happening outside the walls.
 
Winter opened his eyes a sliver the light glaring in the window onto his face. Groaning loudly he pulled himself out of the bed and slipped on a plain white shirt, and some jeans. Also pausing to put in colored contacts making his red eyes seem brown, though he didn't bother to mess with his snowy hair. If people asked it was colored he liked his natural hair color. Not bothering with shoes he left his apartment. Walking sluggishly down the hall grumbling to himself quietly. "Stupid sunny mornings." He was hoping in would be rainy, it was always funny when peoples plans got ruined, or they still had to slog to work in the rain. But he walked on anyways maybe he would run into someone to make a deal with.
 
"Madam, it's time to wake up. I made you some breakfast. Human food of course, like you told me you had wanted to try! Humans eat meat for breakfast similar to us, but they also eat molds and eggs and the blood of various fruits! Isn't it interesting, My dear?"


As Dimme woke up it seemed she was already being pelted with the long conversation of her dear friend. "Ah... Yes... Lovely," She spoke softly.


"Oh! You go and get dressed for that job interview, while I go set the table nicely!"


As her servant ran down the stairs, Dimme slowly removed the covers and slipped down from her unnecessarily large bed, though with the apartment size she had it seemed to fit quite well. Because of all the money her parents had given her she was able to live luxuriously, owning the entire top floor with quite a bit of money left.


She wanted to get a job though, because then she could add some of her own earnings in her bank account, rather than just the money her parents had received from robbery and contracts of protection.


She was working on her studies, and dreamed of being a doctor or a psychologist of sorts, but she also wanted a job on tob of that. She had looked into many places, but the only place that accepted her was a small bookstore. She would be able to go everyday after school until closing, IF she got the job.
 
The sky outside of Andy's apartment was pretty to say the least. He walked down the steps and slouched against the railing, admiring the sky. The clouds were fluffy and looked so soft and the sun was out and shining. Andy preferred days when the sun was hidden beneath the clouds but today was an exception. His phone rang causing Andy to jolt from his thoughts. With shaking hands he fished his phone out of his pocket and looked at the text. Yo Andy, the shop is opening a bit late today. When you do come to work be warned we got a new shipment of books. Have fun~ Of course Florence leaves him to upacking the new books. Andy was going to look around a bit more before his phone rang once again. This time dropping it. His current location was the third floor and unless it somehow fell into a pile of pillows he was out of luck. What an interesting morning indeed.
 
"Hey hey Oz watch it!" Max pushed the large dog down off the bed as she furiously lapped at his face. Sitting up slowly, he groaned as he looked at the clock. He usually wouldn't be up for another couple hours at least, but apparently his husky was hungry now. She nipped playfully at his heels before running toward the kitchen. "You're lucky I love you," he mumbled before groggily grabbing the bag of dog food and filling her food bowl. The husky sniffed it for a second, and then looked back up at her owner expectantly. With a roll of his eyes, Max grabbed a piece of juicy raw steak from the fridge and placed that in the bowl along with the dry food. Max licked the juice off his fingers as Oz made a quick meal of her food. His wolf side gave him a peculiar fondness of less-than-well-done meat, and he savored the taste as he walked across the small, second floor apartment and back to his bedroom.
 
Dawn broke across an unblemished sky loosening a thousand thousand beams of sunlight that crept across the morning sky in waves of deep oranges, spitfire reds and soft yellows finally giving way to the seamless blue sky impressed upon by western bulges of pillowy clouds marred by swirling blackness, thunderheads riding the winds. Arthur's eyelids fluttered open revealing his halos as the gentle sunlight poured across his heap of a bedroom, clothes were strewn across the room some clean but mostly worn, empty bottles of whiskeys stood guard on every surface available. He rolled over and heaved into a big, glass salad bowl beside his bed, Morgan stood in the doorway looking quite pleased,


"New shoes? New dress? Joyful slaughter of innocents?" Arthur said sheepishly looking up at his sister with a wry smile.


"Nothing new actually and the joy was lost years ago, more of a chore these days been thinking about getting into accounting," She smiled pleasantly and walked out to another section of the flat calling out as she did,


"You're just predictable is all.. and that's good to know," she had been taking 'notes' of him since she appeared in his apartment claiming to be a long lost sister, it was strange thinking of her as being the long lost one out of the two but she had wings unlike any fury before her and a story though he didn't put much stock in either, she wouldn't leave though. He showered and dressed, coffee was already brewed when he came out somewhat proper so he washed out a mug from the pile in his sink and poured himself a cup to take with him to the roof, Arthur loved to watch the mornings hues while he woke up over some coffee or tea.


"You should stay home today, I want to find out who you are and, and.. and well how you survived here for twenty years like wow I can't handle a month before I want to puke er.. nevermind.." Morgan tried to sound like a kid sister should even though she wasn't and shot him a toothy grin, he gave her an annoyed look but she didn't take time out of her life and find this whiny sack of a brother so he could kick her out without so much as 'how do you do' and besides that he was just like her except for the weird differences in their wings and eyes.


"Nope," was all Arthur said as he said as he threw his a brown hemp cloak over his shoulders and folded his wings closer in to his body,


"That won't do, i'm coming with you then," Morgan followed not bothering to cover her snow pale wings as she hop-skipped after her brother as he skipped over the elevator for the stairs winding up in a small rectangle of warm concrete thanks to the building owners, they were fairly nice people but Arthur never got to know them very well, it was better that way. He noticed Morgan as they came up on the gusty rooftop or more specifically the body sized wings she made no attempt to cover, he stopped mid-step and gestured with his off hand towards her as if to say 'Look at this b*tch'.


"Do you think i'm trying to bring medieval fashion back or something?"

Winter paused looking at the stairs something told him the roof would be an interesting place to start the day. After debating a moment he gave a slight smile and headed up the stairs. When he got up there there were already people he could see that at least some of them were not human, so a deal was probably off the table. But he stuck around, there was a chance, plus who knew what he might learn from them. Stepping out he spoke. "Morning to you all."

After retrieving his phone Andy made his way to the roof. He took the stairs and once he got to the top he opened the door. Before he walked onto the roof he stopped. There were more people on the roof. Andy stood quietly, listening to the other people on the roof. It is very rude to listen in on other people's conversations but they were his neighbors he knew nothing about and he never stopped to chat with-and wait just a blasted second the girl has wings. Oh my goodness.
 
Dimme walked towards the nicely set table, decked out with tons of food, way too much for just too people. "Looks like I made a bit too much," said Auldine, her servant, "We could possibly give some to charity. Or you could give them to your neighbors below! You really should socialize a bit more."


"Charity sounds easier. What if my neighbors don't like me? I do own the largest and most expensive part of the building with my parents money. 'Presidential suite,' is what they called it. All the other rooms were much too cramped for my furniture. My neighbors may think I am a spoiled brat," Dimme replied, sitting down at the head seat of the table.


"Understood."


After finishing breakfast, Dimme walked away from the table and grabbed her things for school. She had everything she needed: books, laptop, lunch, backpack, notebooks etc. She opened thebdoor and left, closing it behind her and walking forwards in the small, narrow hallway, towards the elevator. She pressed the button and waited for the lift's arrival.
 
After tossing and turning around his bed for a while, Max finally came to the conclusion that sleep had escaped him for good that day. He got up slowly and prepared to start his day. Throwing on some ripped jeans and an old Fender t-shirt, he turned to with a smile to see Oz full of food and sleeping peacefully in her bed. Max creeped around his small apartment as quietly as he could as not to disturb her. Running one hand through his hair and using the other to grab a pack of cigarettes on his nightstand, Max headed out the door to go enjoy what he thought would be a solitary smoke on the rooftop.
 
Morgan had her back to the roof access door so she didn't see their secluded roof had begun to spring to life. Much to Arthur's dismay a white haired guy just about the same height as him pushed onto the roof smiling amiably when he should have turned and ran, walking a few steps to the rail Arthur sipped his coffee and watched him out of the corner of his eye.


"Morning to you all," The man they did not know to be Winter spoke against the awkward silence that fell over them all,


Morgan span around slowly looking the newcomer over, she could feel him from where she stood and he didn't seem to notice her wings like most mortals would.. freaking out and more often than not praying to a God they now believed in so there was a good chance he was something.. else.


"Good Morning.. I'm Morgan Memmott the Untainted, the Blighted Fury of Hades, the Unholy Harbinger of the Wicked! I am th-" She gestured subtly way that became a tirade of wild gesticulation as she 'greeted' the man.


"The lady with the big, white wings and never ending lungs we get it, i'm Arthur some kind of angel I think" Arthur sipped his coffee, it was rich and dark without need of cream but a dash of sugar to sweeten it up, he was raised by a clergy that had believed him to be a savoir of broken people on Earth and learned little and less about his origins. Morgan spun around quickly this time almost seething with anger she shot daggers at her dear brother with her crimson, cracked eyeballs. She knew everything about their origins.


"Well I don't have all morning," Arthur said sniffing the air and tugging at his cloak a little to straighten it out, his jet, black wings went over his head a good foot so he had to fold them in uncomfortable angles to keep them looking at least like a hiking bag underneath the folds of fabric.


"It looks to me like you have us here at a disadvantage, you know what we are but we don't know you," Arthur called up when he noticed there was another guy that had appeared to join the conversation but this one was obviously human. His eyes bulged into wide, white saucers when he saw Morgan almost dropping his phone in shock, that made Arthur chuckle at least and Morgan turned back her rage turned to glee when she saw another new guy but before she could open her mouth,


"You're not dreaming, going to back home, to bed and sleeping this away pretending it is though might not be such a bad idea.." He considered doing the same himself smiling a little,


"Unless you want to have an.. interesting day? oh but we could have such fun couldn't we though?" Morgan smiled a toothy grin to Arthur meeting a disapproving glare and throwing it back towards the white haired one, there had to be someone here who wasn't such a downer.
 
Dimme got in the elevator and pressed the button to go down. There were two other people in there other than her. Both seemed to be maintenance guys.


"But why must we go up to the roof to do that?" Asked the younger looking guy.


"Because we already checked inside the basement. The air vent is up there and it my be stopped by something, so we need to clean it if that is the case," The older one replied. The elevator stopped and the doors opened to the room before the roof. The two opened the door widely saw the group of strange people and Lilliana was pressing the button for the doors to close. The two rushed towards the elevator and stopped them from closing rushing inside as they closed again.


"I'm supposed to be at school right now and the two of you are ruining my education," She said monotone, "Plus you forgot to close the door so things will get in that shouldn't get in. Like bad air, and trash and birds. It will ruin your reputation."
 
Hina snapped back into reality from being in trance. She noticed some of her neighbors and some people she didn't know. Her eyes flashed to her small watch on her right wrist to make sure she wasn't late for work. 'I still have an hour.' Hina nodded at the guy with white hair and waved slightly. She was trying to remember his name but just couldn't think out it.
 
Max worked his way up the stairs to the roof access. He would have taken the elevator but he had convinced himself that the extra exercise from stairs counteracted his tobacco habits. Despite knowing deep down that this wasn't true at all, it gave the man a bit of hope. Reaching the top of the stairs, Max paused. His sharp ears picked up on a multitude of voices and he took a whiff of the air. There were a lot of people out there, and certainly not all of them were human. He stood at the top of the stairs debating a moment. All he had wanted was to smoke in peace, but at the same time there were probably some pretty interesting people out there. With a sigh, he pushed the door open. "Jesus Christ" he muttered audibly, looking around to see the interesting characters before him.
 
Winter stood his grin only widening, as more people appeared. "An interesting day indeed." He said agreeing with Morgan. Walking closer to her and Arthur saying. "Winter Keshie," He said then in a lower voice to Morgan and Arthur added. "demon, low class, lacking fancy titles, and a love for playing games and making deals. My card." He slipped a card to Morgan. Then speaking up again continued. "So what are your names?" He asked generally to everyone who'd not introduced themselvs.
 
Morgan looked the strange card over for a moment before shoving it into Arthur's breast pocket, her pants only had fake pockets unfortunately while Winter tried to get everyone's attention. There was a human here too, at least one she could almost smell his fear and confusion. She looked the demon over not all together impressed, he made deals and it looked like the prospect of such made him quite happy,


Light flush crept up Morgan's neck when the demon had mentioned he carried no fancy titles,


"I earned those titles by birth right," She looked down her nose at Winter now "Maybe i'll show you how one becomes an 'Unholy Harbinger'.."


Morgan smiled evenly her wings shuddered against a gust of wind.





Arthur watched Winter carefully out of the corner of his eye as him and Morgan spoke though he was entirely disinterested in the banter of demons, he cast his gaze across the various peoples, he nodded at the smoker though didn't know how he might explain the collection of monsters that mingled about up here now. Stepping away from Morgan and her demonic company, his hand slipped between the layers of stained leather retrieving a plain, silver flask that flashed against the morning sunlight. Arthur glanced back as he undid the clasp on top, Morgan was blushing a little which made him almost laugh out loud but he managed to stifle a giggle. He lifted his poison to his lips and drank deep, a good 3 shots slipped down his throat setting fires all the way to his gut. He pushed his wings up letting the cloak slip off and bunch up in the middle of his back and stretched them out a little, almost batting down a young looking woman as he did, he didn't remember seeing her come up so she had to have been here the whole time but how the hell did he not notice a whole human being?


"Uhmm.. Hello?" The words founds themselves free before Arthur had even though to speak.
 
"Birth right hm?" Winter spoke the words a note of un-impression in his voice. In his opinion titles fancy or not should earned, to be given respect. They were more impressive that way, birth rights seemed to easily gotten almost stolen. But he did not voice this. Being the fairly low level demon he was, plus his more than mild adversion to his own pain if it could be helped was enough to warn him to step away from those words. He thought about a game though, a game would be fun. "Care to play a game instead?" He asked mischievousness glinting in his eyes.
 
Arthur seemed to lost interest and had walked away but he wasn't headed for the door so she paid him little mind now, he'd insulted her in full public and she would return to the Underworld before he let him just get away with that, she'd catch him when he least expected it though she was.


The demon had little and less to say about Morgan's birth right which suited her just fine though she didn't like his attitude but he had an air of mischief about him that she enjoyed far more than Arthur's whines and preaching, she figured it was all the time on Earth but she could fix him somehow she knew. Winter suggested a game, his eyes shimmered with enthusiasm and a certain evil that made her chuckle, someone that enjoyed their work was refreshing to say the least further more she was more than interested to find out what this game was,


"Hmmm.. I play rough.." she said stepping to Winter's side keeping her eyes on him,


"What kind of game?" Morgan circled like a shark slowly smiling with a certain dark glee, her eyes glowed dimly pulsated with a transparent crimson.
 
Winter chuckled she'd taken a bite now to reel her in. "A simple game, go fish. Kidding, but seriously a betting game. We will each name a prize, what we want from the other if we win, then we'll play a game. Any game will do senet being a favorite of mine. Suggestions on your part?" Winter was unfazed by her harsh gaze being quite used to getting them.
 
Morgan stopped circling and laughed out loud. This was too good, she knew what he wanted beyond a shadow of a doubt but said nothing of it in her face or voice staring at him evenly now pondering whether or not he was worth the time.


"A betting game? Hmmm.. I can't say i've heard of Senet before though," She lied, Morgan liked Senet well enough to play in her free time but she wasn't very good at it opted for a more comfortable choice to her,


"How does poker strike you? Hold Em' would be my choice but if you feel like like luck is all you need then i'm apt for a hand of Black Jack, Have you played before?"


She was all giddy like some school girl with a new i-phone.
 
Winter gave a mockly offended face. "Never heard of it. Remind me to teach you someday." At the suggestion of poker he was both happy and disappointed. "Generic?" Asked poker being a very generic gambling game. "Well, if you prefer to be boring, you might run me back through the basics. I haven't played for several years. Then I can make a more informed decision." Winter could obveously see that Morgan looked down on him, and that was likely to be he downfall. But win or lose this was sure to be an interesting day.
